Steven Soderberg directed one of last years finest dramatic thrillers, BLACK BAG, a textbook Hollywood blockbuster. It was fabulous and I recommend a streaming. His latest, however, THE CHRISTOPHERS, is just as cerebral, equally provocative and boasts similar stellar character portrayals from Ian McKellen and Michaela Coel, exchanging bullets for pigment, espionage for art. As we share it is siting at 97% at RT. Not even TRAFFIC @ 93% tops it.
LORNE is, of course, Mr Saturday Night, Lorne Michaels, the genius behind one of the longest running weekend shows in TV history, SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE. I do fondly remember the early years, with the original cast, Belushi, Martin, Akroyd, Carl Spackler, Rosanna….. All I have seen is the trailer, which is now running, so I will, like you, have to wait till May Day to view.
SAT MAY 2 @ 3 - VISIBLE VOICES, Feature screening of Marlee Matlin: Not Alone Anymore. Followed by panel discussion hosted by Council Member Brenda Fantroy-Johnson, this evening brings together leaders, advocates, and survivors for a post-film conversation grounded in lived experience and frontline work.
SAT MAY 9. Late Night Comedy returns with GATEWAY COMEDAY @ 9pm. Consenting Adults only. IYKYK. Tix here.
TUE MAY 12 - OPEN MIC SCIENCE. Featuring Nobel Prize winning Immunologist Dr Fred Ramsdell. Slide presentation, talk and Q&A. I have my Q’s ready. Free with RSVP.
SAT MAY 16 - DANA LYONS. The troubadour called a contemporary mix of Woody Guthrie, Pete Seeger and Joan Baez, will entertain and opine on our current state of affairs. A donation and a popcorn will get you in the door and to your seat.
FRI MAY 22 - GOOD DAY SUNSHINE plays in their entirety ABBEY ROAD & DARK SIDE OF THE MOON. Remember how faithfully the core band pulled off the LAUREL CANYON LEGACY gig last year? I have no doubt they will bring the same energy and expertise to this great gig in the sky. Tickets here and special VIP packages are available only be calling us at 206.451.4336. DO NOT MISS! Raffle of the LPs on-going at $5 per chance.
SAT MAY 30 - HS JAZZ BAND OPEN MIC. The talented kids from BIHS invite you and your chops up to the stage to join them in their Spring open mic event. You will not be disappointed.
