He was a doctrinal teacher who had a mission to share the Word of God to provide a foundation for the Body of Christ to grow to maturity. Though he is resting in the bosom of Jesus, the word he shared continues on.

God's grace is freely given, and profound love flows from receiving it, not from trying to earn it through rigid religious acts. Recognizing our own deep need for forgiveness (like the woman) leads to humble worship, while self-righteousness (like Simon) blinds us to grace.
