Idle Heirs Discuss Life Is Violence LP and Debut Show on The Vulgar Display of Podcast
Kansas City-based post-metal duo Idle Heirs, featuring Coalesce frontman Sean Ingram and producer/musician Josh Barber, have announced the release of their debut album, Life Is Violence, dropping April 11th, 2025. The album will be celebrated with a record release show the same evening at Warehouse on Broadway in Kansas City, MO, alongside metal heavyweights Norma Jean.
Born from necessity and personal upheaval, Life Is Violence is a searing, emotionally charged collection of eight tracks written and recorded in complete creative isolation at Ocean Sound Studio in Norway. The collaboration between Ingram and Barber—longtime friends and kindred spirits—came to fruition after years of false starts, catalyzed by Barber's self-imposed writing retreat in the Pacific Northwest. Surrounded by storms and solitude, he created the sonic foundation for what would become Idle Heirs.
The band recently appeared on The Vulgar Display of Podcast, part of The Barn Podcast Network, in which Ingram and Barber discussed their intense creative process, the album’s introspective themes of grief, generational trauma, and paternal legacy, and why they originally never intended for these songs to be shared publicly.
Singles like Dead Ringer and Pillow Talk give a glimpse into the band’s dynamic range—melding haunting atmosphere, crushing weight, and a raw vocal performance that sees Ingram pushing into new territory far beyond his hardcore roots.
With Life Is Violence, Idle Heirs offer more than an album—they deliver a moment of vulnerability and defiance, shaped by isolation, purpose, and love.
Catch Idle Heirs live on April 11 at Warehouse on Broadway for their official album release show.
