Speaker 1:

Today we are talking about the three ways you can close the indecisive loop. So if you're someone that is multi-passionate, really driven, and you have a thousand and one ideas flowing to you, you would probably understand the pain that comes with trying to make a decision on which way to go, which pathway to take, which idea to start to work towards. It's a lot, and I can relate to this. I also feel the same. It is very easy to get distracted by all the ideas coming into my mind and all the shiny objects syndrome as well that you see other people doing cool things, you're like, oh, what if I could do that too? What if I could do that? So the purpose of today's episode is that if you have been struggling with indecisiveness, which has potentially also been stopping you from achieving your goals, that you will get to close that loop once and for all and start taking action towards your goals, no longer holding yourself back being in that spiral of indecision. So just wanted to say that, because I get it, i see you, i understand, i know that it comes from a good place, but no more indecisiveness, because that is stopping you from achieving the goals that you want to achieve.

Speaker 1:

So you may be someone that has a few ideas in your mind that you want to explore. So one way to help you close that indecisive loop is to explore your options. So map out all of the ideas that you have, the different pathways that you have. Put it onto paper, whether that's physical paper or digital paper. Just extract everything that is in your mind and just put it somewhere right, because when you get that out of your mind, it really does help to lessen the load and the confusion that's swirling around in your brain. So extract all of the ideas that you have.

Speaker 1:

Okay, when you are now looking at these different options, have a think about which one you feel more愛, more drawn to. So there will be an option that you feel a little bit more excited about, because there are, you know, some practical ideas you might have we like all you but practically this makes sense if I go down this pathway Because you know it will be easier for me to get there. There's a clear path. I can do that, you know. But, yes, that may be the more practical pathway and easier pathway for you. But maybe something that you'll strongly drawn to is another pathway that it might be more challenging and tricky to work towards and get to, but it is one that has been pulling on your heart for much longer. So, when you extract these ideas and different goals and pathways, think about which ones you feel more strongly connected to, naturally drawn to and excited about, like when you look at it And you're like I can really really see myself, you know, doing that and I can really see myself working with those types of people and I can really envision What it would be like waking up and going to that type of job. So have a play around with that. Another aspect of that is thinking about your values and interests and how those different pathways, ideas, option align with your values and interests. Again, there will be some options that will align more and others where, again, it's more practical and, i guess, easier for you to achieve and go down that path, but it might not be aligned with your values and interests.

Speaker 1:

Now, once you do that essentially, pick a path, just choose something and I know this sounds simplistic, but it is. It has to be. Because if you don't choose a pathway, if you don't choose one thing to focus on, then it will be so easy to get caught up in that indecisive loop and you'll keep allowing that to stop you from achieving your goals Until one day you feel, you know, burnt out and you're like I can't do this anymore. But to avoid that mental overload and that burnout, pick a path that feels most aligned to you, that feels strong to you. Focus on that and forget about the rest. Don't wonder what if? because if you pick one path, you'll never know what the other path would have led you to, because you didn't choose that right. And that's the point. Like, you can't know exactly how every single, where, every single pathway will lead you to. And I know as lawyers we are naturally wanting to be 10 steps ahead and we want to be able to predict the future so we can make sure that we make a rational and logical and you know blah, blah, blah decision, all of that kind of stuff But honestly, pick one path that feels most aligned and that feels strong to you. Focus on that laser focus on that. That is the best way that you can close that indecisive loop and start to move forward and have that momentum.

Speaker 1:

And I'm saying all of this from experience. I have had so many different business ideas and you know, sometimes I still do. I'm like, oh, that'd be cool to do that, oh, that'd be cool, and they are distractions. They're distractions because I then go back to again my core values, my interests, that always lead me back to coaching and creating content and speaking. That always, always come back to that, no matter how many different ideas I have. So I've chosen my path and have chosen to focus on that and just allowing those other thoughts to come through. You know, i say hello to them and then goodbye, because I have a path that I want to really focus and hone in on so that I can actually make the biggest impact that I want to make. And that's actually another thing that is important for you to question yourself on Where can you make the biggest impact? Which pathway will allow you to do that? And again, i know you can't tell the future, but you can feel within you like where your strengths are and how you can align that to the impact that you want to make.

Speaker 1:

Now the third part of this, in closing that indecisive loop, is to set short term goals that will help you move forward. There's nothing worse than looking at that end goal of yours and going, oh my God, i will never get there. I'm never going to get to that place I want to get to, because my goal is that overwhelming and big that it's just not going to happen, rather than thinking about that end goal. So, once you picked that pathway, think about what is the next step. You can take just that one step So you don't have to envision 10 years from now or even five years from now. Think about you know six months from now, where do you want to be? and work backwards and start setting short term goals that you can work towards to get you to that six month goal. And guess what? Then, when you achieve that which you will, if you take the steps in action then you'll set your next short term goal That will take you to that path. So it is so much easier to have momentum and to move forward in your goals when you have bite-sized goals that you're working towards, because it also provides you with that accountability And also the short wins and the small wins will help you keep going to keep setting goals. That will help you get to that bigger goal. You know that saying Rome was and built in a day is absolutely so true when it comes to goal setting, when it comes to career, when it comes to business, that things just don't jump over nigh and you know all the success comes your way just like that. It takes daily action to get there. So that is another way you can close the indecisive loop.

Speaker 1:

I hope today's episode was really helpful. It was a short episode but I really wanted to cover off those three points. So just to summarize if you are feeling indecisive firstly, explore your options, extract all your ideas and pathways and goals and see how they feel when you look at them and which ones you feel mostly drawn to. Secondly, pick a path and forget about the rest and focus in on that path. Number three set short term, step-by-step goals to help you move forward. I hope this was helpful. Reach out to me in DMs, on LinkedIn or Instagram and let me know what your key takeaways were from this episode, and I'd love to know what path you've chosen and what you're working towards.
