Before guiding you through questions to help reflect, plan, and achieve your goals for the year, I share a personal update on my own goals and preparations for motherhood.
If you're ready to reset your goals and need personalised support, book a career mapping session HERE. This is the only way you can work with me until the end of August before I head into mat leave.

You ready, let's dive into today's episode. Hey, hey, welcome to a solo episode of the Career Confidence Podcast. It's been a while since I recorded a solo episode. I think the last one was where I shared about my pregnancy journey so far, and then I had a few interviews in between, so I'm excited to be recording this and be in your ears today. I hope you're doing well. I hope you're having a great week so far.
Speaker 1:We are going to be talking about goal resetting. It is middle of the year now. How is it even July? I don't even know and I feel like this is a really good time to have a look at the goals that you have set yourself at the start of the year, reassess, tweak where you need to refine and reset your goals for the remainder of the year so that you feel empowered and ready to go and in a position where you are able to achieve these goals. If you do feel like a little bit unmotivated at the moment and things haven't necessarily been going your way, that's okay. It is fine to take a step back and reassess and realign your goals. So that's exactly what I'll be supporting you to do today in this workshop style episode.
Speaker 1:So just to share a little bit about where I have been. So I am now, well, as I'm recording this, I'm 27 weeks pregnant, very close to seven months. I can't believe that. Honestly, this pregnancy has gone by very quickly and I finish up work at the end of August. So, again, everything is moving at a rapid pace at this moment. So, in terms of my goals for the next quarter, the next three months or so is really preparing for motherhood, so all of my action steps are pretty much directed to that, in all areas of my life, essentially. So just to give you an example, so, in terms of work, that will be all about preparing for mat leave and preparing my handover to my colleagues, to my colleagues, and that's well underway and, in terms of my business, it is pretty much finishing up with clients before the end of August. I'm still taking bookings now just for one-on-one, one-off sessions. So if you do want to work with me, this is pretty much your last chance before I close off my offerings until after mat leave, essentially. So if you do want to book in a session with me, I do offer a 90 minute strategy session or one off 60 minute sessions as well, so you can just email me and inquire about those.
Speaker 1:And yeah, in terms of life, it's pretty much now preparing, getting all the things that we need for baby. Being a first time parent, we obviously don't have anything, so we are buying everything from scratch and it can be pretty much an overwhelming process. But yeah, I thankfully have a lot of friends that are parents and family as well, that have been providing really good tips as well to make the process a little bit easier. So, yeah, as you can see, all of my action steps for the next two to three months all leading into motherhood and preparing me for that. I'm also doing a birthing course as well. I'm preparing my mindset around birthing too, so I'm doing a lot more meditations now in the morning. I'm also preparing my body as well for labor, so doing lots of stretches and Pilates, really looking after my body and resting as well. I'm very intentional about that because I want to put myself essentially in the best position possible to receive the birthing experience that I truly want. So, yes, these are all of my goals and steps, essentially, that I'm working through for the next few months.
Speaker 1:So, in terms of helping you set yourself up to reset your goals and put you on the best track forward to achieve your goals, we're going to go through some questions and you can do this in your own time. So if, at the moment, you're driving or, yeah, you're not in a position to be able to fully focus, then I suggest you come back to this episode at a time where you can carve out that space to essentially reset your goals. So let's just dive on straight into these questions. Okay, so imagine it's the end of 2024 and you're reflecting on the year that was. What do you see or feel when you think about the person that you've become? So how have you grown? What projects or matters did you work on? What clients did you win this year and what did you learn about yourself throughout this year. So give yourself some space to just free flow and answer these questions and just write. Then, after you answer that question, reflect on your thoughts to that question that we just spoke about and write down what came up strongly for you that you would like to achieve by the end of the year.
Speaker 1:That you would like to achieve by the end of the year, what is the most important area for you to hone in on right now so that you can come to the end of 2024 and feel accomplished and proud of yourself for doing that one thing? So pick one thing that you're going to focus on for the remainder of the year. So, for example, this could be developing your skills in a particular area. Or perhaps you want to do more business development and get one client for the firm at the end of the year and therefore you want to ensure you're getting in front of new clients regularly. So this could be anything that is personal to you.
Speaker 1:Now moving on to the next part. So we've created the vision for what you're wanting for that is personal to you. Now moving on to the next part. So we've created the vision for what you're wanting for the remainder of the year. Now it's time to let go. So what do you need to do less of in order for you to achieve the goal that you want? So, for example, are you resisting visibility because of the fear of being seen or what other people might think? You're resisting taking action because of the fear of failure, of the unknown? Or it could be letting go of certain processes that take up too much time in your day? So, essentially, have a think about what is hindering your progress and what can you let go of and do less of so you can achieve your goal.
Speaker 1:The next question is what's the next action you can take to move forward on the thing you're most resisting, knowing that there's no such thing as failure? So, for example, if you want to bring on one client by the end of the year, what can you do today so that you can get that client right? So is it making a list of people in your network that you can start reaching out to as a first step? It's coming from that abundance mindset of knowing that there is no such thing as failure and that you need to move through that resistance of, perhaps fear of rejection in order for you to then attract the client. So what can you do to move forward on the thing that you're most resisting? And now it's time to map out your next steps for the remainder of the year. So, referring to the answers that you wrote for all of these questions that we've just spoken about, identify the goals that you want to work on for the remainder of the year and write down all the steps you need to take to achieve these goals. Once you've identified the goal and listed all the steps, I recommend that you organize the steps into like a simple plan and have dates next to it on when you will complete those steps so that you can keep yourself accountable.
Speaker 1:I like to use project management software like Asana. I'm a digital gal, so I like putting in all my action steps and you can create a project in Asana and then add all of the action steps that you need to take with dates next to it, and that will help you keep yourself accountable and move forward in achieving that goal. I hope that this episode has been helpful in just getting you in the mindset of resetting your goals and that these questions that I've proposed in this episode help you to just think a bit more deeply about where you want to be by the end of the year and so that you can turn those goals into reality by creating those actionable steps with a timeframe for you to achieve them in. If you are wanting support in making your goals a reality by the end of the year or in the next few months, then book in a career mapping session with me. I've put the link in the show notes and then that way you and I can sit down together and we can map out what those next steps are.
Speaker 1:I can help you with providing my perspective and coaching you on different areas that you may be challenged with and, essentially, to help you to move into that next role or whether it fits moving up in your current role. I can also support you with that. So simply just click the link in the show notes and book in your career mapping session with me. This is the best and only way to work with me before I go on mat leave. I will leave it there, but I will be back in your ears very soon with another episode of the Career Confidence Podcast.
