W/C 6th November 2023 TisTalk – What’s on

This week has plenty on to tempt us out including, towards the end of the week, several Acts of Remembrance. And the Royal British Legion is appealing for volunteers to help sell poppies. If you can help, please contact the appeal coordinator, Louise Downton on 01747 870400.

 

On Monday 6th, the HISTORY SOCIETY ARCHIVES is open from 10am to 12 in the Mere Room at the Nadder Centre. 

And the weekly MONDAY CRAFT GROUP is in action in the Hinton Hall from 10am to12:30.

On Tuesday 7th evening, the TISBURY PARISH COUNCIL are meeting in the Parish Reading Room, on the High Street at 7pm. And all are welcome to attend.

Also at 7pm, the TISBURY CADET FORCE DETACHMENT are meeting in the Victoria Hall, with doors opening at 6:30. This is for young people who may wish to try something different and challenging in the evening. 

Wednesday 8th has its usual weekly morning activities with the POP-UP café in the Hinton Hall from 10-12 and the TISTOTS playgroup in the Methodist Hall from 10-11:30am.

Also on Wednesday there is the November SERVICE OF HEALING & WHOLENESS at St John’s Church. This service will be at its new time for the winter months of 3pm.

And later in the evening there is the first MINDFULNESS drop-in session given by Tanya Tilbury at the Hinton Hall at 7:45pm. These sessions will be weekly and cost £10 and matts and cushions are provided. 

On Thursday 9th, the TISBURY NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY is holding a talk on ‘The future of the British Hedgehog’ by Philip Baker, Ecologist at Reading University. This is in the Victoria Hall at 7:30pm

Also at 7:30pm the HINDON & FONTHILL WI are hosting a talk on the ‘History of Music from the 60s’ at the Hindon Village Hall.

On Friday 10th and Saturday 11th, JUNIOR TAG is performing ‘The Greatest Show’ in the Victoria Hall. The performance starts at 7:30 with doors opening at 7pm on both evenings.

Friday 10th is also the final day for the WILTSHIRE BUS REVIEW consultation. If you want to have your say and find out more go to: https://wiltshirebusreview.commonplace.is/  before midnight on Friday.

On Saturday 11th there is an ACT OF REMEMBERANCE at the Tisbury War Memorial at 11am and on Sunday there will be WREATH-LAYING at the War Memorial at 2:45pm. 

Also on Sunday 12th, there is the ROH, DON QUIXOTE ballet, produced by Carlos Acosta showing at the Victoria Hall at 2pm. Tickets are £15. 

And in the evening the MAGIC LANTERN FILM CLUB is showing ‘Les Quatres Cent Coups’ a 1959 French coming-of-age film, in the Victoria Hall at 7pm. Tickets are £8 for non-film club members.
