TisTalk – What’s on w/c 11 March 2024

 

On Tuesday 12th evening, the TISBURY HISTORY SOCIETY is holding a talk on: 

‘Dizzy Heights: A step into the exotic, exciting and sometimes surprising history of high heeled shoes.’

Dr Naomi Braithwaite, Associate Professor in Fashion and Materials will be giving the presentation. It is in the Hinton Hall and starts at 7:30pm.

Also on Tuesday evening, Fonthill Park Cricket Club will be holding another WINTER NET PRACTICE session at the Nadder Centre from 7:30 to 9pm. 

 

On Wednesday 13th, the Pop-Up Café is in the Hinton Hall from 10am until 12 noon. Everyone is welcome to come along and enjoy table-top games, conversation, and refreshments.

TIS-TOTS are in the Methodist Church from 10am-11:30am.

And there is a LENT LUNCH in the Methodist Church from 12-1:30pm. All are welcome to enjoy delicious home-made soup and bread and cheese. Donations are going to Wiltshire Air Ambulance.

At 6pm on Wednesday, there is a SERVICE OF WHOLENESS & HEALING in St John’s Church.

 

On Thursday 14th, the TISBURY NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY have a talk on ‘The land of the Somer People’ by Mike Reid. This is in the Victoria Hall at 7 for 7:30pm.

Thursday 14th is also the deadline to book a space for the Young Nature Watch STARGAZING event which is taking place on Thursday 28th March. This is for those under 21 years old. For more information visit www.tisburynaturalhistory.com/young-nature-watch.

 

On Friday 15th, ADVENTURES BY TRAIN is a talk by Michael Hughes, covering 16 trains, 8 countries, 3 operas, one ballet and a wolf! Tickets are £15. It is in aid of Save the Children and is taking place in the Hinton Hall. It starts at 6:30pm, with doors and bar open from 6.

 

On Saturday 16th, there is an opportunity to hear more about TISPLAN 2 during the ‘Open Morning’ taking place in the Parish Reading Room. This is from 9am-1pm.

Also on Saturday morning, the COMMUNITEA CAFÉ BREAKFAST will be in the Methodist Church from 9:30am until 12 noon, serving cakes, croissants, pain au chocolate, tea, and hot chocolate. 

And the TISBURY COUNTRY MARKET will be in the Victoria Hall for an hour between 10am-11am, selling locally grown, baked and home-made produce.
