TisTalk – What’s On in Tisbury and the Nadder Valley

On Tuesday 9th, there is a HISTORY SOCIETY TALK featuring guest speaker Dr Jane Howells. Her talk is titled ‘Women’s suffrage campaigns in south Wiltshire: Staunch supporters but also whistles and rotten eggs in Tisbury’. This is taking place in the Hinton Hall at 7:30pm.

On Wednesday 10th the DINTON AND NADDER VALLEY newly energised WI is getting together again in the Dinton Village Hall at 10am, promising plenty of chat, laughter, a cup of coffee and biscuits. Anyone interested is encouraged to go along or to contact dintonwi@gmail.com for more information.

At 6pm on Wednesday, there is a SERVICE OF WHOLENESS & HEALING in St John’s Church.

Also on Wednesday 10th April at 7:30pm there is a meeting at the Donhead St Mary Village Hall, Church Hill, Donhead St Mary, SP7 9DQ.   about septic tanks. Wiltshire Council is offering fully funded grants to homeowners in specified areas of the Upper Avon catchment to upgrade their sewage systems. On Thursday 11th the TISBURY NATURAL HISTORY SOCIETY TALK is on ‘Wild Fish’ and will be presented by Shaun Lenard, Director of the Wild Trout Trust. This will be held in the Victoria Hall, with the bar opening at 7pm and the talk starting at 7:30pm.

 

 

On Friday 12th, Family Theatre are in the Victoria Hall with THROUGH THE LOOKING GLASS. This is a family interactive show based on Lewis Carroll’s classic tale, that is as colourful as it is silly.  There is both a matinee performance, at 2:30pm, and an evening performance at 7pm. Tickets are £10 for adults, £6 for children and £25 for a family of four. 

 Also on Friday evening there is a fundraising talk on 200 YEARS OF NATIONAL GALLERY at the Nadder Centre at 6:30pm with Sean Moran.

 

On Saturday 13th, TISBURY BOWLS AND CROQUET CLUB are holding another open day for anyone interested in playing croquet. This is at the far end of the Tisbury football field and runs from 11am-3pm.

 In the evening, there is a SAVE THE CHILDREN GAZA APPEAL taking place in St John’s Church at 6pm.

 And also on Saturday evening, the NewVic are screening the ROH BALLET ‘MacMillan Triple’, celebrating the breadth of Kenneth MacMillan’s one-act ballets. This is in the Victoria Hall at 6:45 for a 7:15pm start. Running time is 195 minutes and there will be one interval. Tickets are £15 and £8 for under 18s.

 

On Sunday 14th, the Magic Lantern Club are showing THREE COLOURS BLUE in the Victoria Hall at 6:30 for 7pm. This French 1993 drama is the first of the Three Colours Trilogy. Tickets are £8 for non-members.
