Hello and welcome to this another edition of Words from the Word of God. Thank you so much for joining us for our first broadcast this blessed year of 2025. If you have the Word of God, turn with me to the last chapter of the entire Word of God, revelation, chapter 22, and read along with me this morning God Revelation, chapter 22,. And read along with me this morning, john writing here on the Isle of Patmos, of course, as he's given this revelation, he says, and he showed me speaking of the angel that he continued to speak with here from chapter 21, one of the angels that had the seven vows of the last seven plagues. But that's who he's speaking of here. And he showed unto me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God and of the Lamb, in the midst of the street of it, and on either side of the river was there the tree of life which bare twelve manner of it. And on either side of the river was there the tree of life which bare twelve manner of fruits and yielded her fruit every month, and the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations and there shall be no more curse but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it and his servants shall serve him and they shall see his face and his name shall be in their foreheads and there shall be no more night there, and they need no candle, neither light of the sun, for the Lord. God giveth them light and they shall reign forever and ever. Praise God for that. And he said unto me these sayings are faithful and true, and the Lord, god of the holy prophets, sent his angel to show unto his servants the things which must shortly be done.
Speaker 1:Pay particular attention here, starting in verse seven. Pay particular attention here, starting in verse 7. Behold, I come quickly. Blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book, and I, john. John mentions his name again here. I, john, saw these things and heard them, and when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel which showed me these things Very significant. Worship, god, that's where all of the focus of our heart should be today. Worshiping the Lord, worshiping our Savior Jesus Christ. As we read these things and take them and keep them in our hearts, the blessing we receive by reading and hearing and keeping these things should bring us into a point of worship.
Speaker 1:John had the right mindset of worship, but he was worshiping the wrong one. He fell down and worshiped the angel, and the angel brought his attention back to where all of ours should be, and that's to worship the Lord. And he let's pick back up in verse 10 and he saith unto me seal not the sayings of the prophecy of this book, for the time is at hand. He that is unjust, let him be unjust still. And he that is filthy, let him be filthy still. And he that is righteous, let him be righteous still. And he that is holy, let him be holy still again in verse 12.
Speaker 1:Then, behold, I come quickly and my reward is with me to give every man according as his work shall be. I am alpha and omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life and may enter in through the gates into the city, for without are dogs and sorcerers and whoremongers and murderers and idolaters, and whosoever loveth to maketh a lie and maketh a lie. I, jesus, have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches, I am the root and the offspring of David, and the bright and morning star and the spirit and the bride say come and let him that heareth say come and let him. That is a third come, and whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book if any man shall add unto these things, god shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book. And if any man shall take away from the words of this book, of this prophecy, god shall take away his part out of the book of life and out of the holy city and from the things which are written in this book.
Speaker 1:He which testifies these things, who is he that is testifying of these things? None other than Jesus Christ, and he makes it very plain here in verse 20. He which testifies these things saith. Surely for the third time. Surely I come quickly. Amen, and the last prayer of the Bible. Even so, come, lord jesus. No doubt is the prayer on every heart of every believer today living in this world. Even so, come, lord jesus. And john wraps it up here in the last verse of the whole word of god. The grace of our lord Lord Jesus Christ, be with you all. Amen, praise the Lord. May the Lord bless the reading of this word to our hearts today.
Speaker 1:Beloved, as we conclude our journey right here through the magnificent revelation of Jesus Christ, of our eternal home, let us open our hearts to the urgency and hope woven throughout the scriptures. We stand on the precipice of eternity, where the promises of our Savior unfold in breathtaking splendor. No doubt as we read the description here, as John finalizes in the first six verses, the description of our eternal home, before he goes into the exhortations here and the calling of the Lord saying behold, I come quickly. You know, in the final chapter we are given this profound vision, you know, the water river of the water of life, clearest crystal, proceeding out from the throne of God in the midst of the street and we've already been told those streets are of gold, like clear glass, and on each side of the river the tree of life, and so on and so forth. We're given these wonderful manifestations here on the pages of Scripture, of the vision of our eternal home, the new Jerusalem. But as we, with John, witness the awe-inspiring splendor of this holy city, we are reminded of the urgent truth of Christ where he says behold, I come quickly, behold, I come quickly.
Speaker 1:In verse 6, we read and he said unto me these sayings are faithful and true. And the Lord, god of the holy prophets, sent his angel to show unto his service the things which must shortly be done. To do service the things which must shortly be done. This verse underscores the imminent nature of the events described throughout Revelation, throughout this whole book, but especially in these final chapters. The phrase must shortly be done signifies that the fulfillment of these prophecies is not far off, in some distant future, but is on the very horizon. You know, we don't live every day thinking we're going to live here forever.
Speaker 1:We have mentioned it several times throughout these messages. We are strangers and pilgrims traveling through this world. This world, this earth is going to pass away. All that is in it, all that we hold so tightly to here, one day is going to be burned up. There's none of it going to be left. There's going to be a new heaven and a new earth, a whole new creation where we are going to spend an eternity. And we are reminded that this here, as he says, behold I come quickly, is right on the horizon. We do not know. We know that Jesus is coming back. We know that he is going to return for his bride, the church, in the rapture. It's what we've been talking about the differences in the timing and events between the pre-tribulation rapture and the second glorious return of Christ since July 20th of 2024 of last year, july 20th of 2024.
Speaker 1:If you have not followed along in this series, I would invite each of you to go all the way back there and follow us all the way through to this point where we stand here in the last chapter of the Word of God today, in our eternal home, because this is where it all culminates, this is where it all comes to completion here. But he reminds us that this is not some distant future thing, but we should live in the eminence of it and consider that it's on the very horizon. You know. This emphasizes here in verse 6, the urgency for every true born again believer to be prepared and be vigilant. The certainty and immediacy of these events call for the immediate and ongoing response of our faith and repentance and renewal and obedience unto the word of God. Behold, I come quickly. In verse 7, he says this. It reinforces the urgency. He said blessed is he that keepeth the sayings of the prophecy of this book. Jesus Christ himself speaks these words, reminding us that his return is near and that we must be vigilant in our faith, keeping his commandments and living according to his word.
Speaker 1:As we look at verses 12 and 13, jesus emphasizes his swift return and his divine authority. He said and behold, I come quickly and my reward is with me. To give every man according to his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and and sovereign power of Jesus Christ, the Lord. Alpha and Omega are the first and last letters of the Greek alphabet, but this symbolizes that Jesus is the beginning and the end of all things, which is proven throughout scripture, but culminates here in the last chapter of the word of God. He is the origin and he is the culmination of God's redemptive plan. By stating the beginning and the end, the first and the last, jesus asserts his preeminence over all creation, his eternal existence and his supreme authority to judge and to reward. This truth affirms that Jesus Christ is central. Did you hear that? He is central to God's purposes and the fulfillment of all of his promises. Behold, I come quickly. We must keep this in the forefront of our hearts.
Speaker 1:Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, let's look at verse 16 and 17 as we read them together. 17 as we read them together he says I, jesus, have sent mine angel to testify unto thee these things in the churches. In the churches, I am the root and the offspring of David. The bright and morning star and the spirit and the bride say come and let him that heareth say come and let him that is a thirst come, and I love this. Whosoever will, let him take of the water of life freely. Jesus speaking to our hearts again blessed words, eternal words. Do you understand? These words endure forever and we should keep them on the forefront of our heart, asking the holy spirit to inscribe them upon our heart as we consider. Behold, I come quickly. So he sent his angel to testify unto the these things unto the churches. These verses highlight Jesus' fulfillment of Old Testament prophecy as the root and offspring of David, affirming eternally his messianic lineage and divine nature. He says there, in verse 16, I, jesus, have sent my angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. This emphasizes that Jesus' message here is not just for an individual only, but for the entire body of believers, the church, body of believers, the church.
Speaker 1:There is a phrase mentioned over and over and over, especially in chapter 2 and 3 of Revelation. It says he that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith present tense unto the churches. In other words, christ is still speaking these things of the book of Revelation, his revelation to us today, to the hearts of every true born-again believer. His church, his bride and he emphasizes that here as he says I, jesus, have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. His designation as the root and offspring of David and the bright and morning star. This underlines his eternal kingship and the hope he brings as the light of the world. Praise God for that.
Speaker 1:The invitation extended by the Spirit and the bride is a call to all who are thirsty for the water of life, symbolizing the free gift of salvation available to everyone who will believe and accept Jesus Christ by faith. He says right here what does he say? Let's read it again there, at the end of verse 17,. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely. That word freely, that word freely in verse 17 holds profound significance for every one of us, every one, every man, woman, boy and girl. It underscores the nature of God's grace in Christ, his unmerited favor extended to all of humanity.
Speaker 1:Did you hear that of God's boundless love and mercy, emphasizing the salvation cannot be earned? Did you hear that? Let me repeat it Emphasizing that salvation cannot be earned through human effort, by obeying the law. No, the law was made and given to show us that we are sinners and we cannot live up to God's holy standard. It cannot. Salvation cannot be earned through human effort or merit, but is given freely. That word is undeservedly to all who come to Christ. In what Faith? In faith, for the just shall live by faith. We are justified freely by faith in none other than Jesus Christ, his eternal sacrifice and his precious blood shed on Calvary's cross.
Speaker 1:But this open invitation reflects the inclusive and gracious nature of the gospel I recall. I remind you of John 3, 16, for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son and here is another whosoever, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have what everlasting life shall stand here one day in eternity in our eternal home. Look at that, for whosoever he says and remember what he says right here, and whosoever will let him, let him take of the water of life freely. I love that word whosoever. It's an all-inclusive word. No one is excluded.
Speaker 1:The only way you are excluded from the grace of God, the saving grace and the saving knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ, is to exclude yourself by rejecting Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior and rejecting the word of God, rejecting the gospel. But it has been given to you for you to partake of freely. Doesn't matter who you are, doesn't matter what you've done, doesn't matter what state you're in now. If you're controlled by drugs or alcohol, whatever it may be, sexual sin, whatever it may be, it does not matter. It is for you to partake of freely. It is for you to come in repentance for confessing those sins unto the Lord and receiving Jesus Christ by faith and turning to God and asking him to be Lord and Savior of your heart and life freely, freely, whosoever. Remember that sinner friend, whosoever, don't ever let anyone tell you you're not worthy enough to be saved, because Jesus Christ gives us a whole different message and it is his word, and his word alone, that matters. With that, I remind you again whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely Verse 20,.
Speaker 1:We find a solemn and emphatic affirmation, says he which testifies these things, saith surely I come quickly. The third time, the third time he has said I come quickly. We should put emphasis upon that. Then the last prayer of the Bible amen. John says even so, come, lord Jesus.
Speaker 1:The word here, surely, in this context, emphasizes the absolute certainty and unwavering assurance of Christ's return, about the differences or the biblical truth of the pre-tribulation rapture and the contrast and differences of events that will occur there and timing that it will occur, versus the second glorious return of Christ to set up his millennial kingdom. But here he says surely, and it speaks of an imminent return. It speaks of an imminent return. If you recall, I reminded you that in the early church they would greet each other with the word Maranatha, which said the Lord cometh, the Lord is coming. That's how they would greet one another and as they departed from the meeting they would say Maranatha, which is the Lord cometh. They lived in the imminence of his return and we are assured that we should live the same.
Speaker 1:As he says surely, in context, this emphasizes the absolute certainty and unwavering assurance of Christ's imminent return. This is not a possibility or a distant hope, but a definitive promise from the Lord himself. He just didn't say surely? He said, surely I come quickly. This underscores the faithfulness of Christ to his word and his knowing that he will indeed swiftly return the last prayer of the word of God. John says amen, amen. And we say it today as we stand here looking into our eternal home, and we've been assured that surely he is coming quickly. As he says behold, I come quickly. And those words echo in our heart. But this prayer that John prays should be an echo in our hearts today of every true born-again believer. Even so, come Lord Jesus. This should echo in the hearts of every believer longing for the swift return of our Savior and our presence in his presence in our eternal home. Praise God, what a blessing today.
Speaker 1:It is as if the Lord is saying to every soul this is where I am, I have prepared the way. In John 14, verse 6, jesus said I am the way, the truth and the life. No man cometh to the Father, but by me. So he said this is where I am. I have prepared the way, I have prepared the place which I promised. And this is what it is like then, my revelation here. I have given you what it's like. This is like the lord is saying this to all of us today. He says and then, the most important question of all do you want to be with me where I am? Because you know I'm coming quickly. You know this eternal home is available, but you know the only way to get there and get to the father, to get to heaven, is by receiving me by faith. You cannot earn it, you cannot merit it in any way. You must come by the way of the cross, you must come by the way of the saving knowledge of the gospel of Jesus Christ. I am the way, I am the truth and I am the life. No man cometh to the Father but by me. But he's saying today and I am not assuming on the lord, but what I know from scripture, from genesis to revelation, is the revelation, the, the uh, the, the manifestation of the son of god, jesus christ. From genesis to revelation, the red line of blood runs from the beginning to the end and he stands at the portals of glory saying do you want to be where I am?
Speaker 1:Because, as remarkable as our eternal home is, as revealed in God's word, we must be ready because Christ could come at any moment. Because Christ could come at any moment or we could pass away at any second. If I can remind you of what James said of our life, it is as a vapor here for a moment and then it's gone. Folks, that's how fragile our life is here on this earth. It is so fragile. It is compared in the word of God to grass which withereth the flower of the grass which fadeth away when the heat of the sun hits it. How fragile is that? Then? James compares it to a vapor which you cannot see. It's here for a moment and then it's gone. That's how fragile our life is. But Christ, saying behold, I come quickly, means that he could come before I finish this message today.
Speaker 1:Are you ready? If? What would happen to you? Where would you spend eternity if you were to die right now? Would you spend eternity where we've been talking about for so long, our eternal home in heaven with the Lord? Or would you be in hell, bound for the eternal lake of fire, cast in there because your name is not recorded in the Lamb's book of life? In the Lamb's Book of Life? As remarkable as all this is, if we have looked at it thoroughly, in a great in-depth study, looking into what our eternal home is like. It's remarkable. But if you are not prepared to be there, that is the most important thing that you are ready. You are ready. If you were to die right now, where would you end up? You can be assured of your eternal home and glory with the Lord by receiving him by faith.
Speaker 1:If you have not embraced the saving grace of Jesus Christ, I urge you to do so now. He stands at the door of your heart. He says I stand and I knock. If any man will open up, I will come in and sup with him and he with me. He will come in and be your savior. He stands at the door knocking. Is he knocking at your heart's door today? Open it up and repent. Confess your sins to him and receive him. Accept him as your Lord and Savior. Repent of your sins and receive the eternal gift of salvation.
Speaker 1:The time is now, for we are not guaranteed another moment. Let us be ready, for the Lord assures us of the things that must surely come to pass and must shortly be done of us, surely, most assuredly, most truly, I come quickly. Are you ready today? If he was to come right now, are you ready?
Speaker 1:Folks, we have discussed in great detail the fact that there is a truth in scripture of the pre-tribulation rapture. We've been guaranteed that he could come at any moment today, in this chapter, three different times behold, I come quickly. Behold, I come quickly. Surely I come quickly, giving scriptural truth to the rapture. And then we've looked also in great detail, since July 20th of 2024, at the divine revelation of the second glorious return of Christ, of Christ, and we culminated, which it all culminated right here, in the last chapter of the Word of God in our eternal home.
Speaker 1:It is the prayer of my heart that everyone in the sound of my voice, everyone that hears this message as we conclude this overall series, that you would be ready, that you would repent if you have not, and receive Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. As we close this series out, this whole overall series from July the 20th through 2024 till now to the latter, last chapter, the very last words of the word of God. And with closing, I say and I pray that you can say the same even so, come, lord Jesus, and I will leave you with this. The last words of the word of God. John writes the grace of our Lord, jesus Christ, be with you all, amen. Thank you for joining us today, and I look so forward to the next time that we can share in a word from the word of God. God bless you all.
