Words From The Word Of God
A topical, and expositional study from the Word of God, in order to Glorify and Exalt our Great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; that we may reach the world with the Gospel, and grow in the Grace and knowledge of Him.. Grace and Peace to all, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.(Isaiah 52:7) "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!"(Isaiah 55 10-11) 10) "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:"11) "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."(John 3:16)“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”(John 14:1-7) 1)"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."2)"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."3)"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."4)And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know."5)"Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?"6)"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."7)"If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him."(Romans 10 :9-10;13) 9)"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."10)"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."13)"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

When everything around us shifts, the question that matters most is simple: what can we trust that will not move? We open Hebrews 6:16–18 and follow a clear thread—God’s unchanging character, His unbreakable promise, and His self-sworn oath—so listeners can trade fragile hopes for a firm anchor. I walk through how the ancient use of an oath becomes a gift of mercy to modern hearts: God doesn’t add weight to His word because He lacks credibility; He does it because we lack stability. Promise and oath, forged in the character of the God who cannot lie, become strong consolation for anyone who runs to Christ.
We explore what Scripture means by the immutability of God’s counsel and why that matters for daily faith, cultural pressure, and personal doubt. If God does not change, His word does not update with the times; it remains settled in heaven. That claim is not cold doctrine but living comfort, reinforced by Jesus as the truth, the Spirit as truth, and the gospel as the word of truth. Along the way, we address the stakes: if God could lie, salvation would unravel and Scripture would collapse. Because He cannot, you can stand, repent, believe, and keep walking with confidence.
The conversation moves from exposition to invitation. For seekers, we lay out the hope set before you—repentance, faith in Christ, and the certainty that whoever calls upon His name will be saved. For believers, we trace how this hope becomes an anchor of the soul, sure and steadfast, because our forerunner Jesus has gone before us. Stay to the end for a preview of what’s next as we examine how God has confirmed His word in history, prophecy, unity, and preservation. If this message steadied you, share it with a friend, subscribe for the next segment, and leave a review to help others find their anchor.
John 14:6 "Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."
If you haven't received Jesus Christ by Faith, as your personal Lord and Savior; I strongly encourage you to do so before it is eternally too late!!!

Hello, everybody, and welcome back to Words from the Word of God. To those who have joined us uh before and have followed us, it is a blessing to have you back with us again. And if you're joining us for the first time, I want to welcome you as well. I want to thank you all for taking this time uh to join with us to hear the living and powerful word of our great God and our Savior Jesus Christ. It has been some time since we last walked through this series entitled Without Excuse, but even though our lives change and our circumstances change and the things around us change sometimes day to day and sometimes minute to minute, we must understand that the God who speaks has not changed. And the word he has given us has not changed, and his revelation will never change. In message one of this series, we saw that God has revealed himself in creation in a remarkable way. How the heavens testify to the glory of the Lord. In message two of this series, we saw how God has revealed himself to our conscience by writing his law upon our hearts. If you didn't hear those two messages, I would encourage you to go back and listen. Also, listen as you go back to segment one of message three, where we begin to look at how the Word of God, the Bible, that we hold in our hand is not just a book. It's God's living voice and his revelation, power, re powerful revelation to all of humanity. And today, as we return to this series, entitled Without Excuse, we come face to face with an unmistakable truth. That God Himself has revealed truth that does not bend, truth that does not shift, truth that does not change, the truth that God Himself is unchanging. Because if God is unchanging, we must understand this. If God is unchanging, then his word is unchanging. If God cannot lie, then his word cannot deceive. And if God's counsel is immutable, then his promises are immovable. And today he brings us to Hebrews chapter 6, verses 16 through 18 to anchor this truth deep within our in our souls and in our hearts. Whether you're a believer or an unbeliever, I encourage you to listen today. Listen to this scripture. And this scripture is uh holds a dear place of my heart. I I have spoken on it many, many times, but as all scripture, when you go back to it, the Holy Spirit has a way uh of using the living and powerful word of God to always reveal something new to your heart, something that we have never seen before. And that's the wonderful thing and the remarkable thing of the written word of God. So turn with me, if you will, to the book of Hebrews, chapter uh six, and there we'll be looking at verses 16 down through verse 18. Now, if you're there, if not, I encourage you to pause the broadcast and get your place and then pick it back up with us, and we'll read. But for the sake of time, I'm gonna go ahead and read it. He says, For men in verse 16, for men verily swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. Wherein God willing more abundantly to show unto the hearts of excuse me, show unto the heirs of promise, bear with me. Let me start over with that verse, wherein God willing more abundantly to show unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel confirmed it by an oath, that by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hope set before us. May the Lord bless the reading of his word to our hearts today. Beloved, in these three verses, the Holy Spirit reveals five unshakable truths that we'll look at today about God. Five realities meant to anchor our souls in the certainty of his word. These truths rise straight from the text, and we're going to walk through each one together today. Uh the first thing he reveals to us or does for us is God stoops into our weakness. Because whether our lives change and their circumstances change, which they do constantly, he never changes. So he stoots into our weakness to reveal that to us because that is our weakness. Our world is always changing. He brings a settlement into our lives by his word, and this is what we want to look at. In verse 16, he says, For men verily swear by the greater, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all strife. In the ancient world, when men wanted to uh excuse me, when men wanted to settle a matter, they swore by something greater than themselves. An oath ended any argument or every argument according to what scripture says here. But here's the wonder. God stoops to our weaknesses. He does not need to swear, he does not need to confirm his word, he does not need to strengthen his promises, but he knows our friend, he knows our doubts, he knows our trembling hearts, he knows how easily unsettled we become. So the God who cannot lie says, and this is what he says to our hearts to Jesus through these scriptures. He says, I will speak in a way your weak heart can grasp. And that's what the word God does to our hearts. It gives a truth that we can hold on to and that we can grasp a hold of and hold on and stand upon. You know, this is not God strengthening his word. His word is already perfect. This is God strengthening our confidence in his word, our confidence in his promises. What mercy, what tenderness, what love, as we continue on looking at this, because the second thing he reveals to us today, God reveals the immutability of his counsel. Verse 17, look at look at verse 17 when he says, Wherein God willing more abundantly to show, and I love this part, unto the heirs of promise, the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it by an oath. Confirmed it by an oath. Let that word sink in, immutability, immutability, because it means unchanging, unalterable, and it refers to him and his word being eternal. God's counsels does not evolve, it does not evolve from uh in our conscience, it does not evolve in our mind. It's God's counsel, what he gives us. God's truth does not shift with culture, God's promises do not expire, God's word does not update with the times. The world changes, nations rise and fall, kings rise and fall, philosophies shift like the sand, feelings come and go, but God says, as in Malachi chapter 3, verse 6, for I am the Lord, I change not. Therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed. And because he does not change, his word does not change, as Psalms 11989 says, forever, O Lord, O Jehovah, thy word is settled in heaven. If God's nature is fixed, his word is fixed, if God's character is stable, his promises are stable. If God's counsel is immutable, his revelation is immutable. That means it does not change. Therefore, the church, especially, and especially, I want you to listen close to ministers, those who that minister of the ministers of the word, listen to me close. We must never attempt to make God's word relevant to the culture around us. The culture must bow to scripture. Scripture must never, and this is an emphatic, must never bow to the culture. Thirdly, God confirms his word with an oath, and I love this. In the latter part of verse 17, he said, God confirmed it by an oath. Think about that. Think about it for a minute. The God whose word created the universe, the God whose breath gives life, as he breathed out his word into man for revelation. The God whose voice shakes the heavens adds an oath. He adds an oath to that power. He adds an oath to that promise. Why? Because he wants us to know more abundantly that his promises cannot fail. What a blessing. What a blessing. Praise that our God, our great God and our Savior. Glory forever to his name. This is God saying, I will not change my mind. I will not alter my word. I will not break my promise. I will not lie. As he tells us in Numbers 23:19, God is not man that he should lie, neither the Son of Man that he should repent. Hath he said, and shall he not do it? Or hath he spoken and shall he not make it good? Praise the Lord. What a blessing. What a scripture. 1 Samuel chapter 15, verse 29 tells us, and also the strength speaking of Jehovah, the strength of Israel, will not lie nor repent, for he is not a man that he should repent. And as Jesus said, talking about in his great prayer before he went to the cross in John chapter 17, verse 17, he says, Sanctify them through thy truth. Thy word is truth. Notice that it is not thy word is the truth. Thy word is truth. God's oath is not for him, it's for us. And then he reveals the next point, point four. He reveals two unmutable things, two unchanging things. The first part of verse 18, uh, excuse me, Hebrews chapter 6, verse 18. Let's read the whole verse and then we go back. That by two immutable things in which it is impossible for God to lie, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hopes set before us. What a wonderful verse. I tell you, these verses are very powerful. But listen to me. The first part of the scripture says that by two immutable things on which it is impossible for God to lie. What are those two things? What things is he referring to? If you read this chapter in context, you'll find out that it speaks because it's talking about the promises he made to Abraham, about that he would be the father of a great nation, that through him, all through his seed, all the nations of the earth would be blessed. He promised him and he made an oath to that. So what two are the two immutable things? God's promise, number one, and God's oath, number two, both unchanging, both eternal, both rooted in his full character and his nature. And then the Holy Spirit adds the thundering clap. It was impossible for God to lie. Not unlikely. Now that's not unlikely that he will lie. It's not improbable that he will lie. It's not rare that he will lie. No, it is impossible. Impossible. And everybody knows the word of impossible because it is impossible with God. He tells us we can stand upon what he tells us. We can stand upon his promises. We can stand upon his promises in his word because he has sworn the oath upon himself, because he could swear by no greater. He swore it upon himself to Abraham. You know, it's impossible. God cannot lie. Jesus said, as Jesus said in John 14, 6, when he said to Thomas, he said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. The truth that comes only from the Lord. You know, we can't take the word of man. We can't stand much upon that. Especially, you know, I remember in the days when I was growing up, my dad, uh, you know, he used to have an agreement with another man and he would shake his hand. And it's something my dad, you know, told me and my brother throughout life that, you know, a man is only as good as his word. And if you make a promise to someone, or if you shake someone's hand and you tell them you're going to do something, you need to do it because you're only as good as your word. Well, we can't trust in that anymore because man is so unstable. You know, our ways are so unstable, but God is perfect in every way. And Jesus said, that's why he said, I am the truth. I am the truth. He came full of grace and truth to reveal openly the truth and the fact that God is truth. His word is truth. And he came to be the living revelation, the logos of God to us. Now, if you move to 1 John, consider 1 John chapter 5 or 6. Not only is Jesus Christ the truth, the Son of God the truth, it says right here in 1 John chapter 5 or 6, the Spirit is truth. It says, This is he that came by water and blood, speaking of Christ, even Jesus Christ, not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth. The Holy Spirit is truth, God is truth, his word is truth, and Christ is truth. You can't get any better than that. You can't get it any more impossible to lie than that. It is impossible for God to lie. Ephesians chapter 1, verse 13 tells us, in whom ye also trusted after that ye heard the word of truth. There it is again, the gospel of your salvation. Did you hear that? The word of truth, the gospel of our salvation. Wow, what a blessing. And as uh of Christ, Revelation chapter 3, verse 14 says, and unto the angel of the church at Laodicea, right. Now he's speaking to John, write these things in Revelation, what was revealed to him of Christ. He says, These things saith the Amen, the final, the final, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God, speaking of none other than Jesus Christ. If God cannot lie, he would, if, excuse me, if God could lie, he would cease to be God. If God could lie, salvation would collapse. If God could lie, Scripture would be worthless. But as is said, it is impossible for God to lie. Therefore, his promises, God cannot lie. Therefore, his word cannot fail. Finally, we look at the last point, what he's revealed to us here, that we can have strong consolation for our souls. Look at the end of verse 18 with me. That we might have strong consolation who have fled for refuge to lay hold upon the hopes that are before us. How beautiful is the word of God! How powerful is the word of God. I tell you, it blesses my heart every day. I always love to open it up and see how it brings the words off the page, to bring it to life in my heart and in my life. And if we allow the word of God to be applied properly to our life prayerfully and properly, allowing the Holy Spirit to guide us, I tell you what, it can truly change our hearts and our lives, draw us closer to the Lord, draw us closer to Christ, and put us on a foundation that cannot be shaken. You can have a strong comfort. It's not a weak comfortless promise. It's not a fragile hope. It's not a temporary encouragement. It says right here, strong consolation. That means a mighty, immovable, soul-anchoring assurance. For whom? For whom? Who is it for? Who have fled those who have fled for refuse to lay hold upon the hope set before us? This is the sinner running from judgment. This is the guilty soul fleeing from wrath. This is the broken heart running to Christ. And what do we lay hold of? Verse 16, excuse me, verse 6, verse 18 at the end, it says, the hope set before us. Not a hope we imagine, not a hope that we create in our minds, a hope set before us by God Himself in Christ Jesus, his eternal son, which he reveals to us in none other than his word by his spirit. A hope anchored in his unchanging word, a hope secured by his unchanging character, a hope guaranteed by his unchanging oath. Appeal as we look, I want you to think about this, appeal to this, anybody that's an unbeliever, anybody who has not accepted Christ. Friend, if God cannot lie, then every warning of judgment is true. As it says in Hebrews chapter 9, 20, verse 27, it says, and as it is appointed unto man once to die, but after this the judgment, you can be assured of that. You will it's like the old saying, you you if you're saved, you you you die. Um, excuse me, I'm just I'm gonna never mind, I don't want to get on that. I don't want to run that rabbit. So let's just focus on the word. What I'm saying is every promise of salvation is true, but every promise of judgment is true as well. As Romans chapter 10, verse 13 says, every promise of salvation is true. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. Whosoever, let me repeat. That. Whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. This is not Jeff Thomas telling you, I'm not going to give you my opinion. I'm not going to give you my words. I'm going to give you the word of God because the word of God speaks. The word of God changes. The word of God is eternal. The word of God is cuts to the dividing asunder of the soul and spirit and the joints and the marrow. It is living. It's powerful. And it discerns the thoughts and intents of the heart. But it says, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. But then we move on. And it says in Acts chapter 3, verse 19, every call to repentance is true because it says, Repent ye therefore. Repent, metanoia, make a change. Turn from where you're at. Turn from the sin in the world and turn to God by pushing your faith in Christ. And he says, Repent ye therefore and be converted. That is salvation. That your sins may be blotted out when the times of restrething shall come from the presence of the Lord. Praise the Lord. Hallelujah. You are without excuse to reject his word, but you are not without hope. I encourage you today, flee for refuge. Run to Christ and lay hold upon the hope set before you, because it is set before you for you to feast upon today. As we close out, Senator Friend, I ask you, I encourage you to please, if you have not accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, if you have not ever accepted Christ as your Lord and Savior, I'm not talking about going to church and getting your name on the church roll. I'm not talking about religion. I am talking about relationship. Relationship. Repent of your sins. That means metanoia. It means to change your way of thinking, change your actions. And it's a change of mind that leads to change of actions. So you reverse your course. The sin and the world that you're involved in now, you turn from that and you turn to God by saying, I am going to place my faith in Christ, the living, eternal, resurrected Son of God. And you confess your sins to the Lord and you invite him to come into your heart. Don't let anybody say, Oh, well, the heart changes not in Scripture. I don't know why people say that He comes into our heart and changes our heart. That is exactly what He does, because our heart is full of iniquity and is so corrupt that nobody can know it, as Jereb Jeremiah tells us. But today you can have that hope. You can lay hold upon the hope set before you, and you can stand upon the eternal promises of God that whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord, Jesus Christ, shall be saved. And to the children of God, I say this: if God cannot lie, then our salvation is secure. And our forgiveness is real. Our labor for Him in the Spirit and by His Word is remembered. Our prayers are heard, and our future is certain. And our hope is anchored in none other than Jesus Christ the Lord. If you read on down, it talks about the forerunner. Let's just read it right here, verse 19 and through 20. He says, Which hope we have as an anchor to our soul, both sure and steadfast, and which entereth into that within the well, whither the forerunner is for us entered, even Jesus made an high priest forever after the order of Macizade. Folks, we can rest in the promises of God. Oh, what a blessing. What a blessing. I pray that this is what blessed your soul as much as it has mine today. And I thank you so much for joining us. Next time as we enter in and continue on in this series, uh we have seen so far that Scripture is trustworthy because it flows from God who cannot lie. We are ready to see how now to see how God confirms that that trustworthiness in history. Now I'm talking about his word, in the history of his word, in the prophecy of his word, the unity of scripture, the person that it the unity of scripture speaks of, none other than Jesus Christ from Genesis to Revelation, accuracy and the preservation of his word throughout human history. In segment two, we saw the foundation of that word in his immutable promises, in his immutable word, his unchanging character. The God who cannot lie has given us a book that cannot fail. And as we close today, I want to I want to pray a prayer. I know I haven't often done this, but I think we just I'm being led to do this today. So let's just pray together as we close out. And I'm gonna go ahead and say, I look forward to seeing you the next time we can share a word from the Lord of God and just pray with me now. Father, we thank you. We thank you so much that your counsel is immutable, your promises are sure, your word is truth, and it is impossible for you to lie. Anchor our souls in this hope, Lord. Strengthen the weak, comfort the weary, convict and save the lost, draw sinners to flee for refuge in Christ, the only Savior, the only mediator, the only hope set before us. And for thy people, Lord, thy family, our brothers and sisters in Christ, Lord, as we are closing out here, teach us to stand where Jesus stood when he was tempted in the wilderness on your eternal, unchanging written word. Seal these truths in our heart today, and Lord, grant us the portion you'd have each of us to have for your glory in the name of Jesus Christ and for his glory I pray. Amen.
