Words From The Word Of God
A topical, and expositional study from the Word of God, in order to Glorify and Exalt our Great God and our Savior Jesus Christ; that we may reach the world with the Gospel, and grow in the Grace and knowledge of Him.. Grace and Peace to all, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.(Isaiah 52:7) "How beautiful upon the mountains are the feet of him that bringeth good tidings, that publisheth peace; that bringeth good tidings of good, that publisheth salvation; that saith unto Zion, Thy God reigneth!"(Isaiah 55 10-11) 10) "For as the rain cometh down, and the snow from heaven, and returneth not thither, but watereth the earth, and maketh it bring forth and bud, that it may give seed to the sower, and bread to the eater:"11) "So shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it."(John 3:16)“For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”(John 14:1-7) 1)"Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me."2)"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you."3)"And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also."4)And whither I go ye know, and the way ye know."5)"Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way?"6)"Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me."7)"If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him."(Romans 10 :9-10;13) 9)"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved."10)"For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation."13)"For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved."

A RAY OF LIGHT FROM THE WORD Psalm 27:1 And The Calm That Follows
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
Fear has a way of shrinking your world fast. One bad phone call, one diagnosis, one temptation that won’t let go, and suddenly you’re bracing for the worst. We open Psalm 27:1 and let David’s words meet us where we actually live, not where we wish we lived. David is surrounded by danger, yet he speaks with a calm that doesn’t come from denial. It comes from knowing the Lord.
We walk through the verse line by line: “The Lord is my light” means God brings guidance, truth, and safety when life feels dark and confusing. “My salvation” is not an abstract idea, but personal deliverance and rescue from a personal God. “The strength of my life” reminds us that stability isn’t produced by grit, courage, or resources, even when we’ve “handled hard things” before. Real strength is sustaining power from the Lord, the kind that keeps your feet under you when circumstances shift day to day.
Then we sit with David’s two questions: “Whom shall I fear?” and “Of whom shall I be afraid?” That’s not hype. It’s the steady conclusion that if God is light, salvation, and strength, fear doesn’t get the last word. We also speak directly to anyone listening who doesn’t know Jesus Christ personally: the call is clear and urgent to repent and believe the gospel, trusting the risen Son of God who died for sinners and offers forgiveness today.

Welcome Back To The Devotional
SPEAKER_00Hello, welcome to A Ray of Light from the Word today, a renewed devotional ministry of words from the Word of God, because it's been some time, I believe, since like uh the ninth month of 2024, since the last devotional ending series, and I am so grateful that the Lord uh has directed us to return to these brief messages from his word. It's like a light that shines from a specific scripture into our lives as you know as we go through life walking for him and with him. My prayer is that this renewed devotional uh series will once again encourage believers and present the gospel of Jesus Christ as we always try to do to those who do not know him. Each episode, we must understand, will focus on a single passage of scripture, sometimes more than one, but it will it will focus on a single passage of scripture, maybe one to two, three verses, maybe sometimes just one verse, like today's message, but it will focus on that scripture and give it to us explained simply and clearly so that the word of God may strengthen our walk and point our hearts, as always, to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Psalm 27:1 Read Aloud
SPEAKER_00With that in mind, I ask you to turn with me today uh together to the scripture of Psalm 27, Psalm 27. There we'll be reading verse 1. Well, I'm already there, so I'm gonna go ahead and read for the sake of time, but you can always pause the broadcast and get catch up with me, and then uh then we'll then read together with me. But let's just join together now and listen up to what the Lord of God, the Word of God has to say to our hearts today from his word. The Lord, now this is a psalm of David. I want to mention that as we move forward here, is the Psalm of David as indicated in my Bible. Uh, it may be in yours as well, but it indicates that David, this is a psalm of David, meaning David is the author of the psalm. So he says right here in verse 1, the Lord is my light and my salvation, whom shall I fear? The Lord is my strength, is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? The Lord is my light and my salvation, of whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life, of whom shall I be afraid? Uh I tell you what, let's take a look today for a few moments to understand the setting in which these words were written. And David writing, and you'll hear me mention throughout, David said this or David wrote that, but we must understand that David
David’s Danger And God’s Word
SPEAKER_00was carried along by the Holy Spirit as he wrote. So these are the breathed out, God breathed. We know that God's word is breathed out to man, to the authors who wrote it, and every word is inerrant and fallible and cannot fail because it's God's word and it will re endure forever. But when I refer to David writing or David saying, that just simply means he's the author, but it is God's word speaking to us. So David writes this song, like many others, he wrote, during a time of real danger. As enemies surround him, threats rise on every side, yet his heart remains steady. Not because the danger is so small, but because his God is great. This verse is David's confession of confidence in the Lord's character and the Lord's care for him. With that background in mind, we can now take a closer look at what David and what the Word of God is saying to our hearts as we break each phrase down in this verse. In the beginning of the verse says, The Lord is my light. That's the first description we have of the Lord. He says, The Lord is my light. Light is in Scripture, represents guidance, it represents truth and safety. David acknowledges
The Lord As Our Light
SPEAKER_00that God himself is the one who removes darkness, confusion, and fear from his light, as he gives clarity where there is uncertainty and direction where there is danger. And of course, we all can attest to that. You know, many times we are in circumstances we don't understand, and we don't understand which way to go. And we we go to the Lord's word in prayer and prayerfully uh seek him through his word, and we seem to always find the answer because the as we know the word of God is is living and active, it's powerful, uh, and it is just uh sharper than any two-edged sword, so it can divide asunder. Uh but it can separate the confusion and noise and fear from the the confidence that we have in our Lord and in his word and the promises of his word. David then moves from guidance and deliverance as the Lord is my light to the deliverance that he has in the Lord. And he says, and he is my salvation. The Lord is my light and my salvation. Salvation here includes deliverance, rescue, and preservation. David is not speaking of a general truth. He says, my salvation, it's a personal salvation. God is not merely a helper, he is David's helper. That's the significance of what he's saying here. He's not saying
My Salvation Made Personal
SPEAKER_00he's just a helper, he is my helper, he's a personal Lord, he is the personal savior, he is a personal God. And that's the whole reason Christ was sent to bring us back into a relationship with God the Father, that he might have that personal relationship with each and every one of us. Next, David speaks of the strength that sustains him. He says, The Lord is the strength of my life. David's stability does not come from his own courage. Now we know David was a very courageous man. He fought many battles, but and he won many battles. We go back to where he fought uh as a basically a shepherd boy, where he fought the giant Goliath, and how many stories we've heard that coming through our life in Sunday school and messages on that victory that he had over Goliath. So he's always been courageous and had resources, and he has not come to his own. His stability is not from his courage, though. It's not from his resources, it's not from his wisdom. No, what he's saying here is it comes, the strength, the stability that he has comes from the Lord's sustaining power. And we know how God worked through David
The Strength That Sustains Life
SPEAKER_00to bring about certain victories for the nation of Israel, and how he's the greatest king they ever had. And we know that from reading scripture, but if you read through the got the uh the Old Testament accounts of David's life, we see him fight many battles, but we know that it was God that carried it through each one. God is the one who upholds him and strengthens him and enables him to stand in those situations. And with these truths established, David draws a simple conclusion. And I want to kind of put these together right here. It's two questions asked here. Pretty much the same uh the same uh thought, but it's two asked two different ways. He said, Whom shall I fear? When he says the Lord is my light and my salvation, he says, Whom shall I fear? Then he moves on down to the second part of the verse. He says, The Lord is my the strength of my light, of whom shall I be afraid? Whom shall I fear, and of whom shall I be afraid? This isn't exaggeration. We must understand it's simple conclusion drawn from who God is. If God is David's like his salvation and strength, then fear does not have the final word. God does, his word does. And if we seek him prayerfully, we can have that as well, that assurance as well. But because the most remarkable thing of this verse this morning is that these truths are not only for David, they stand as God's word to us today, just as surely as they did for him that many years ago, they stand for us today. Believer, whatever darkness presses against us today, whatever fear, uncertainty, temptation, grief, or loneliness we may
Whom Shall I Fear Today
SPEAKER_00feel we may have come into our life, whatever circumstances we find ourselves in, and we know they change some day to day, and sometimes second by second, things get worse, but we and through it all, we must know and understand that we have confidence. If you walk with the Lord any amount of time, we have the confidence knowing that our God is not distant. He said, I will never leave you nor forsake you. He is near to us as our next breath. He is our light, he is our salvation, and he is our strength. And with David, with that being in mind, we say, Whom or what shall I fear? Whom I shall I be afraid? Praise God. We have such confidence in our Lord in his word today because we know we can stand upon his promises. We do not walk alone. We do not stand in our own power. If we stand in our own power, we will fail. If we try to walk alone, we certainly will not uh prevail in the circumstance. No, we do not face a circumstance without the presence of the Lord. And if we are trying to do that without his presence, number one, you can't if you're truly born again. You can't separate yourself from the presence of the Lord. You can break the fellowship with the Lord by sin, but you can never be so far away from the Lord as not to be in his presence. He's always with us. He knew us even when we were, before we were conceived in the womb. And there's nowhere we can go that He can't uh He can't find us or be with us, and that Psalm 139 attests to that. So today I encourage you to lift your eyes with me. Rest your heart with mine, and let's walk in his light today. And if you're listening today and you do not know Christ, you do not have a personal relationship
Repent And Believe The Gospel
SPEAKER_00with him as your personal Lord and Savior, this passage points you to the one who is the true light. Um, friend, if you don't know Jesus as your Lord and Savior, the word of God calls you to repent and believe the gospel. Jesus says in uh Mark chapter 1, verse 15, he says, uh, repent and believe the gospel, the kingdom of God is at hand and it's still at hand today. So we are encouraged, you're encouraged, no matter where you're at, no matter what sin you're involved, no matter how long you've been involved in that sin. Uh you may be addicted to something today that's taking control of your life, but you must understand the Lord's invitation is always open to you. He's always standing at the heart, your heart's door and knocking, wanting to come in. And the Holy Spirit speaking to your heart this morning through this message. Uh, that little that voice, that small voice you hear drawing you, saying, Go today, accept me today. That's the Holy Spirit's conviction coming upon your heart to receive the Lord, Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior today, Lord of your life, not just your Savior, not just fire insurance, but to be Lord of your life. And that comes through repentance, turning from sin and turning to God by placing all of your trust in Jesus Christ the Lord, the risen Son of God. The Bible declares that Christ died for our sins and was buried and rose again the third day. And I praise God for that. He shed his precious blood so that sinners like you and me could be forgiven. We could be redeemed and reconciled to God. Today, right now, if you don't know him, he calls you to come. He says, Come unto me, all ye that are heavy laden and heavy burden, and I will give you rest. And I'm not quoting that verse, and I'm probably getting it wrong, but he says, Come unto me, all you that are burdened and heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Today, right now. Today is the day of salvation. Don't wake. You may you're not guaranteed another second. James compares our life to a vapor. It's here for a moment and then it's gone. And even Isaiah and Peter also uh quotes from Isaiah that our lives is like grass and the flower of the grass. The grass and the hot sun withereth away, and the flower of the grass falleth away or faileth. So we know that our life is fragile. We're not guaranteed another moment on this earth, but we are guaranteed one thing. It says, but is appointed unto me and wants to die, and then the judgment. So you can either be judged by your sins in eternity, or you can allow your sins to be judged in Christ today by coming to his cross and letting his blood wash away all of your sins. And that comes through repentance and faith in his finished work, his finished redemptive work on Calvary's cross. So I invite you. Uh and Jesus says, Come unto me. And he said, Believe on the Lord Jesus, and thou shalt be saved. Believe on me, and thou shalt be saved. May the Lord strengthen each of your hearts today and steady your steps and shine his light upon your path, wherever you may be today, until we meet again in the next message. God bless.
