Welcome. Here we are. 18th chapter Revelations. And uh, like I was saying before we got on, you know, I I like to go to the Bible. I mean, I know it's knowledge, but I like to go to the Bible to see what the Holy Spirit's saying, right? What are the what are the nuggets? And I always like to say this when this is going forth out of my mouth, I know the Spirit of God speaking to you. Different scriptures are going to come alive. But and it's the Holy Spirit doing that. It's the Holy Spirit talking to you. Recognize that. I mean, people go, oh, the Holy God never talks to me. Yeah, all of a sudden they go, Oh my God. Back, really quick, Alicia. I was watching her little video, and she said she came, and you said God is love. That was God speaking to her. You said God is love. Yeah, I did say, but who brought it alive? It's the Spirit of God, right? So anyway, here we go. There's a lot of stuff here. So Revelation 18, 1. And I don't know everything, by the way, and I and it's okay. We don't have to know everything. We have to know Jesus Christ as Lord, and that's it, and the grace of God. Anyway, I love this, though. I love the first verse says, With this, I saw another celestial messenger descending out of the heavenly sphere. Now, you know, think about this. A celestial messenger has a message, right? So with blazing light beaming out of him, that sounds like the Messiah. Well, it sounds like Jesus. It doesn't say it's Jesus, but to me, that's the incarnation, isn't it? A beaming, a blazing light beaming out of him. The light lit up the earth with the brightness of his glorious presence. You know, to me, the message there is incarnation. You know, the word of God, we say, oh, the word of God. The Bible is not the word of God. The Bible has the words of God. The word of God's Christ. In the beginning was the word. The logic of God is Christ. The real word is a person. It's the incarnation. It's Jesus as a person. And he's a, you know, remember in 2 Corinthians 3 talks about that you are living letters. Right? But Christ was a huge letter, wasn't he? Perfect image bearer. So we get to watch him to see who the Father really is and who we really are. Anyway, and then I was just thinking a couple of scriptures, like in John 1.9, I'm going to use that amplified here for time. Every person. Christ is the true light that illuminates what? Every person. Not just. Isn't it funny? In these versions that people don't like this, you know, like the alls and this stuff. It says, wow, it illuminates every person. And it's in the amplified. Isn't that crazy? And then, of course, then you go think about John 4.16. Remember, it says, you know, he's he's quoting Isaiah. He says, out of the land of Zebulun and Naphtali, which are like, you know, the Zebulun, or out of Galilee, which is a northern Israel, it says, out of deep dense darkness has come a great light. Wow, right? A great light. And I love that. I tell people, all you had is the Old Testament, you'd end up in deep dense darkness. Crazy, huh? Because that's all I had. That's how that's where they ended up. And then one more scripture, I think. Oh, John 8.12. Remember after the you know the woman uh caught in adultery? And what did Jesus say? I mean, he says, go sin no more, right? He means quit living outside of the life of your design. And the next thing he gives her the answer to the to what he just said, I'm the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness, will have the light which is life. He gives her the answer to what he, you know, we said, what does he mean? Go sin no more. Or so we we think, oh, go don't commit adultery no more. No, the deeper issue is image and lightness, right? When she knows her identity, the desire for adultery goes away because now she's happy with herself, right? She's not condemned to feeling guilty and trying to long for something. And he says, I, the answer to the whole thing is I am the light of the world. He who follows me will not walk in darkness. Say, Jesus is the light of the world, and we follow Jesus. That's why we follow him. Alright, so that's the message. The message is the incarnation. You know, every time it says celestial message, that means they have a message, and it's a good news message. Always remember that. Remember that. He announced in a thunderous voice, so it's, you know, it's always a thunderous voice, usually means God, right? The great Babylon, what's Babylon? It's the old uh pronero system, the tree of the knowledge, good and evil, which is in utter darkness. And I like how Francois always says in the commentaries in a lot of places in the Bible, darkness is not a force, it's the absence of light. When the sun comes up in the morning, the darkness just flees, doesn't it? It doesn't push back and resist. He announces in a thunderous voice that the great Babylon is utterly crushed. That's good news. It has become a ghost town of demons, haunted by every unclean spirit, held in it like a cage of this eerie or spooky birds. Maybe Big Bird is there. I don't know. He's kind of a spooky bird. But think about that. It's a dry place, and it makes me think about when Jesus talked about the demons when they, you know, they let got thrown out of the house, they go to the dry places, right? And they come back. All right. The masses of mankind, now he's he's elaborating what it's like to live under complete darkness. Babylon is a system that's a complete darkness, an economic system. I mean, we know it's the just it goes right back to Genesis, the Tower of Babel, right? They were making a tower. They were all of one mind, and they're they're going to heaven on their own ability. And then God in the story made them all speak different languages, and it was over. And Babylon was the first of the four beasts, it's the first one. It comes to took over Israel and took everybody, took a lot of people captive. But anyway, the masses of mankind became intoxicated with the wine of her passion and adultery while their kings flirted with her, and the traveling traitors of the world made their wealth with a powerful lure of her attraction. In other words, it's a deception, it's a it's a superficial thing. I'm not gonna even go more than that. It's it's remember, it's the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. If you it's due to become, in other words, and it means without all due respect, isn't that what's going on now? I mean, everybody, you gotta dress this way, you gotta be this way, you gotta do this, you gotta do that. And if you don't, well, then you you don't measure up. I mean, you know, I always think it's interesting. I I mean I I like rock music, and I watch a video like ACDC or somebody else, and I notice there's like five guys being venerated, and there's eight, fifty thousand people like shouting their names. I think there's something wrong with that picture, isn't there? But I think God is showing us the difference between dressing the outside up and the outside system versus the incarnation, and maybe that's why Adam and Eve was naked to start with. I know it's to do with innocence, but wow, what's the most beautiful thing? The human body, isn't it? I mean, I know we cover it up because of you know all these other things, but my point is, you know, sometimes we miss the reality of the incarnation because we dress it up with fancy hair, not me, but other people, and then fancy clothes, and you know, like being smart or being certain talent, right? Those are okay things, but anyway. And I heard another voice out of the heavens, so this is another message, coming out of the grass of her come out of the grass of her deception. Now think about that. He says, the grass come out of her the grass of her deception. Remember verse one, it says the messenger came down in a brilliant light through through light over everything. Okay, if they're in darkness, now they can see. So he says, Now that you can see, come out of the grass of her deception, you are my people. In a sense, when he talks about adultery and fornication, we're the bride and we're fornicating in the sense we're having interrelationship with the tree of the knowledge of good and evil is darkness, is what it is. He's saying, Come out of her, you are my people. You have nothing in common with her distortions and need to participate in her plagues. I'm gonna flip over to Galatians 6.8 for some reason. Read it in the mirror. It's interesting, plagues. I just looked it up. Devastating afflictions, severe, sudden disaster blows. Okay? Now I love this scripture. It says every good, excuse me, the flesh cannot compete with the spirit. This is the kingdom of the flesh. What is the flesh? It's the maw, it's not your your your uh the way you're born, it's the fallen mindset. It's your mind being darkened by the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, which causes blind blindness, spiritual blindness. The flesh cannot compete with the spirit, just like Adam, the fruit of the do-it-yourself tree still produces death. While faith produces a spirit fruit of the life of the ages, the cod kind of life. We're gonna get into the economy of God, which is righteousness, holiness, its inheritance, its gift language. It's you are because you you are because of what he says. Your sons and daughters. There's nothing more all the clothes you have is not more beautiful than you. Oh Patricia, can you mute, please? It's okay. All right. Her perverted, I love this, listen to this now. Her perverted burning up as tongues. Anybody have interpretation? Anyway, her perverted twistedness, a perverted, right? Twistedness of God's image in you has piled up. A perverted image, her perverted image, she's the tree or Babylon has displayed a perverted image of who you really are and polluted every square inch of the earth and sky. In the death and resurrection of the slain lamb, God confronted every remembrance of the unrighteousness she represents. In other words, he brought innocence and righteousness and image and lightness back. And I what I think is really cool here is in Romans, let's see, Romans 8. I I just these these are the kind of weird thoughts that go through my head. Is it 18? Or 19 and 20. It says here the the perverted image and lightness has piled up and polluted every square inch of the earth and the sky. In other words, the whole creation. The polluted no, you could say, oh yeah, because we pollute and but I, you know, I always want to read this. This this is Romans uh 8, 19 in the mirror. This reflects the deepest longing of every created being, the one event which captivates their attention. Picture creation standing on tiptoe with held breath, as it were, to mirror witness for themselves the unveiling of the sons of God. You can hear the drum roll. Other versions say the whole creation is waiting for what? The sons of God to appear. Now the next verse says, Every creature became subject to frustrating life of vanity and fertility because of what? A lost identity. Everything. Involuntarily fell prey to a mindset imposed upon everyone, yet with a stark setting, hope prevails. Now, I kind of wonder if sometimes if we all come to really a knowledge of the truth and faith, that maybe the weeds will go away. I don't know. Maybe creation will change a little bit, maybe the weather would change. I'm just saying, think about it. I mean, Adam's distortion affected everything on the earth. I wonder as we get a hold of the truth, if that won't affect everything on the earth. Because God wants to put everything back right, doesn't he? Where does his kingdom want to be? His kingdom comes, his will is done, and it's in us, but it's all around us. I think I think what we believe about ourselves affects everything, but that's another conversation, right? Because I gotta keep going. Now listen, the lamb's suffering. That's what we're dealing with here. The lamb's suffering dealt a double blow to the whore and the beast system. Whose suffering? The lamb's. It's the cross. I what so far, I mean, like I said, if I was really had time to do this the best, I'd have been through this a bunch of times, but I don't, so I'm going as a I go, but there to know Christ, to have the revelation of Christ, you gotta know the cross. And he says the lamb suffering dealt a double blow to the whore and the beast system. And remember, the dragons behind it, it's the pronero system. You have to do to become the do-it-yourself tree. The counterfeit cup she had mixed turn on her and proved to be her defeat. The same thing she tried to do to others cost her, you know, he says you sow to the world, you reap the whirlwind, right? So do the flesh, you reap destruction. And that's what she was doing. All right, I'm gonna keep going here. There's some alright. I just want to read something. There's a lot of commentary here. Not only in his death did the Lamb of God bring closure to every definition of judgment, but in his resurrection, mankind is now co-raised into newness of life. The entire beast system is defeated. Say this. In his death, God brought every closure to every definition of judgment for me. And in his resurrection, I am now co-raised into what? The newness of life. Say, I'm a new being. There's no judgment for me. He took the judgment. That's the point. Seven. This is a complete reversal of her self-inflated glory and luxurious lifestyle to the exposure of her falsehood. Now I love that self-inflated glory. You know, because if you think about it, you're the glory of God on the earth. You're the sons and daughters. And so so is everybody else. But self-inflated glory is the same thing to me as self-righteousness. You're doing things to become to show off. It's because of what you did. And I always give it a kick out of it when I go to funerals and say, yeah, they must have gone to heaven because, you know, they're a good person. Well, compared to what? It's all by faith. He says, like when a metal is tested with a tombstone, and that's there's a commentary about that, and we read that in another commentary earlier, so we'll keep going over it or go buy it. And proves to be fool's gold, gold, and gladness in such it. Gladness is turned into sorrow. Gladness is turned into sorrow. That's the opposite of Isaiah 61, right? Turns sorrow into joy, ashes into expressiveness of joy. Fool's gold. Anybody ever seen fool's gold? Looks like gold, but it's not gold. Gets everybody all excited. Then you go, oh, it's not worth anything. You said in your heart, you said in your heart, this is about this is the the the Babylon, I am established as queen and not a widow. I will not know grief. Alright. Down in the commentary, uh towards the bottom it says, Thus a standard or criteria by which something is judged or recognized, the cup Jesus drank on the cross is the tombstone. It's the thing, it's the test, faith. And remember in 1 Peter, I think it's the uh seventh verse that says, you know, your is what what uh your faith tested by fire is more precious than gold. Your faith is more precious than gold. In other words, what is your faith? It's what believing what God believes to be true about you. It's believing what God says about you in spite of the contradictions in your life. All right. This is great. Her calamity strikes in one day. One day. What day was that? Is that the sweet by and by, or was it on the crucifixion? The cross, that's right. Her calamity strikes in one day, death, sorrow, and starvation. Her entire dynasty or power is burned to ashes in the fire of what the passionate judgment of the Lord. Whose judgment? Our judgment? No, his judgment. He's judged on the cross. I'm gonna flip over to Revelation uh 14 verse 7. I was these are the probably the two scriptures that that one's of all the scriptures I got out of this so far. These are the ones that turned me on like big time. 14, 7, I gotta say it again. Let's see, seven. In in a great voice, he declared, no, that's not it. That's hmm. Well, it says the judgment, you know, the judgment of the Lord. Now, what's the judgment of the Lord? It's the crucifixion. Remember, I said it before? Remember, Jesus said the Father judges no one, he's given all judgment to the Son, so that you will honor the Son. And then John 3.17 says, the Son didn't come to judge the world, he came to what? Save it. And then John 12 says, if I be lifted up, I'll draw all to myself, all people, all judgment. Jesus Christ on the cross is the judgment of the whole human race on him. It's your judgment, it's your cross, his cross is your cross. When it says take up your cross, it's mentally thinking, Wow, I died with Christ. I'm dead. He took my judgment. It says, and what happened? Her calamity strikes in one day on the cross. Death, sorrow, and self and starvation. Her entire dynasty is burned to ashes. I love this in the fire of the passionate judgment of the Lord God. Now I think you can always think of fire, like you know, burning, but you know, I was thinking this week it's occurred to me that in the old days, you know, things that cause light at night, one is the moon, two, the sun coming up in the morning. What else is there? There's an electricity. Fire causes light, doesn't it? Isn't that interesting? What do you use to have light when you don't have electricity? Fire. All the kings of the earth executed, uh, excuse me, the kings of the earth, the executives of the mindset of the beastly system that's the pronero system, the do-it-yourself system, her faithful, fornicating friends and clients are weeping and wailing bitterly while the smoke of her burning rises. You know what? I don't know if you remember, like when Paul cast the spirit of divination out of that servant girl and they lost money, and what did they do? They they found out they weren't making money and they got all mad and threw them in threw them in jail, didn't they? Or you know, had a riot. And then also, when Paul was preaching, all of a sudden people weren't buying idols anymore, and the idol makers got all mad and they because they weren't making money. And remember that people were throwing all their witchcraft books and cartoons, and I mean not cartoons, I'm just teasing, but stuff in and they're burning their stuff. They were losing money, weren't they? They stand completely detached from her, embarrassed by their association with her in her exposure. In her exposed, I love this pretentious identity. Pretentious, root word pretending, false. You know, isn't it interesting that we can have a false identity and our true one is really a wonderful identity? For you to act like you're not an image bearer is a false identity. You're pretending something, trying to be something you're not. You're an image bearer. You're a you're a son and daughter of God. You're a son of man, son of God, no male or female. Crying the last last, the mighty city of Babylon is doomed in one hour. Now you look around and go, oh my god, it looks like it's still going on, and in the flesh it is. But in God's mind, it's been dealt with. God's dealt with it. And in Romans 4.17, he says, even he's he speaks, even though it isn't as it is, and it must be, it will be. And you know what? He's raising up people that understand real faith and grace. This is the message that's been lost. Paul says, I love it. In 1 John, he says, you know, this is a this is a new message, but it's really not a new message, it's an old message, too. It's ancient. What's he talking about? This is the true message, but it's been lost over the years, but now it's been reclaimed. It's the message from the beginning. It's intimate relationship, it's incarnation, it's image and likeness restored, and lost because of the fallen mindset because of Adam, and he handed that down to us, and he gave us the big ogre God. One John 4, 8 God is love. It's the best essence of his being is love. 1 Corinthians 13 is the love chapter. That describes the character of God, the real God. And Jesus incarnation describes shows the real character of God. He didn't kill anybody, he's healed people, set them free. And the only people he was upset with are the people that are pointing to the law. He called them, he called them uh serpents, brood of vipers. Because why? The first serpent pointed to that tree, they're pointing to the tree, the law is the tree. If you do this and God loves you, do this, God hates you. Uh uh. God loves you. God's always seen you as an image bearer. You didn't see yourself correctly. Jesus came to redeem that. Anyway, verse 11. Also, the money power emperors of the world who what control the global trade routes, the merchants and economists, people predicting it what the how how to make money and how the Is gonna go, we're wailing and mourning because of the judgment or the crisis, the crisis on her caused the loss of all their clients. No one buys their cargo anymore. The touchstone currency of God has exposed the what fake currency system of the world economy. I said this, and maybe I said this Sunday morning, but you know, I just think it's interesting that if God's a giver and he's super generous, and I have his, you know, and we're our true nature is a godly nature, which is really his nature, right? Then we should be super generous, shouldn't we? It's a different economy. God's a giver. Then he gives us, and then we're generous, and he gives us more, and we're generous. And what does he get in return? Yeah, it goes in a circle. He gets praise and thanksgiving. That's all he's looking for. Little thanksgiving and praise, little testimonies. Suddenly, no one shows any interest in their most precious cargo. Now, this is the world's system, it's a system of darkness, it's superficial. Same system's going on now. I mean, I didn't have that Metagal. I saw some pictures, all those weird things people were wearing. It's like, really? I mean, what the hell's wrong with you people? I mean, dress up the outside, but the inside's dead man's bones. I hate to say it, but I know Jesus lives there, but I just have no clue. And of course, who am I to say that? But suddenly no one shows any interest in their most precious cargo of gold, silver, rare gems, pearls, fine linen, fabrics, purple scurple, silk, scarlet, all kinds of scent, scented woods, ivory, craving the art articles, expensive hardwoods, bronze, iron, and marble. The list goes on and on. Cinnamon, spices, incense, perfume, uh, frankincense, wine, olive oil, flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, wagons, and slaves. Crazy slaves, and no bur uh no buyers. The entire economy crashed. Because why? The first messenger came down, and what happened? Shined light over it. And he says, Come out of her, come into this new economy. Does it mean we don't work? No. And I and I and I mean, do I like some of those things on that list? Yes. Am I gonna lie? Yeah, but I think that the difference is I think we're seeing the wrong thing, aren't we? Again, I said this at the beginning. Adam and Eve were naked in the garden. I know that's has to do with innocence. But maybe instead of like looking at like, remember Peter said don't be, you know, for women, don't dress up and be known for how you dress and the jewels you wear. He mustn't tell you not to wear them, but he says don't be known for them. Because why you should be known? Because you're an image bearer. I mean, your body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. We dress it all up. Man, your body is more impressive than anything you wear. Anything you have. You think that's maybe what he's getting at here? Are we seeing the right stuff? We're putting glitter on and do I don't care if you do that, it's fine. I mean, I don't, but my point is are we seeing the incarnation? Are we seeing Christ in each person? That's the most important thing. That's the beauty. You can dress it up if you want to, but get past what the outside looks at and what talents people have, what talents people don't have, what their social status is or isn't, it doesn't matter. The entire economy crashed. No, none of the sought-after seasonal fruits or any delicacies associated with the luxurious living were available any longer. Not even a trace of uh of these things could be found, which reminds me, we're gonna get to the you know, New Jerusalem where there's trees and you know, healing and fruit that's in season all the time, right? The once mighty merchants and money brokers, which is part of this system, who gleaned their wealth from her, were standing afar off, afraid and disoriented. They weeped and wailed bitterly since what the touchstone, which is the cross, the testing, right? Currency of their economy has been exposed as fake. Which this the story just popped in my head. I know it's the Lord, is in Daniel, is I can't remember, it was one of the kings, and he came in there, and there was a handwriting on the wall, and he had the interpretation says, You've been found wanting. You've been found naked and wanting. That's this that's this economy right here. Naked and wanting. Let's see here. Verse 16, we're getting there. Also, the great model city he's talking about. Now, Babylon is a system. I know there's actually a city, there was a city, but it's a system. It's the world system. He says the last of the great model city of the world is doomed. Dressed to perfection, now it looks good, in the most expensive, elegant fashion, draped in purple and scarlet fabric, festooned or adored, and sprinkled with gold and glitter and ornament. She was elaborately decorated with gold, precious stone, and pearls. Now remember, we're gonna get to the new Jerusalem here coming up, aren't we? Which is a spiritual thing, and this is a spiritual thing too. This is a spiritual city, a fallen mindset of people, doing all this stuff, and we're gonna get to an in the future here, not long, a few chapters, we're gonna get to the new Jerusalem, which is also people adored by God. In a brief moment, all this pomp has come to nothing. That's the cross. The great shipping tycoons of the world, their workforce, their clients, all stood in bewilderment like witnessing from afar the ruins of their enterprise, except as it went up in smoke. They wept bitterly and lamented, who would have thought that the great city of unequaled promise would come to nothing. And you know, you could say, okay, this is Rome, but Rome still stands today. Right? And maybe he's talking about Rome there too. It sure doesn't have the power it had before, right? Because I mean, and he I mean he could be signaling Babylon as Rome, because he can't say Rome, because he's uh he's exiled and held prisoner by Romans, right? But I'm just making a point. He could be talking about that too, but it's still the same system. Where am I here? Okay. 19. In their senses, sense of hopelessness and bat uh uh bafflement, they cast dust upon their heads, which is what you do in your mourning, isn't it? Fasting and when people fast and they mourn and they throw dust on their heads as a sign of humility, as if to wrap their minds around the ultimate reduction of their vibrant life to lifeless dust. In other words, to rubble, nothing, it's not worth anything. I love how Paul says, you know, I and I love I mean I'm a little I like to be a little cheeky, and I love how Francois says, you know, Paul says that you know, whatever I gained, and he was a you know a Pharisee, he says I call it dog poo. You could say the other word too. Rubbish. They are weeping and wailing in shock for the great city which has fallen. Oh what a shame that famous icon of prosperity who made every ship owner rich is now left utterly desolate in just one hour. It's the one hour. In just one hour. Can a nation be raised in a day? Yeah. The cross, the death, the resurrection, the ascension. A deep sense of relief is felt in the heavens as all the saints, the apot all the saints, all of them, the apostles and prophets celebrate how God caused the whore's judgment of others to be her own judgment. You know, and that just reminds me of Roman or Matthew 7, you know, judge not lest you be judged, right? And I always people always used to interpret that people, don't judge people, because then you're gonna be judged. It's not what he's talking about. When you set up a standard by the tree of the knowledge, good and evil, you judge other people by that standard, and you have to judge yourself by the same standard, don't you? But when you see you remove the you remove the the uh wood from your eyes and you see by the by the what Christ believes, by the Christ mindedness, by love, you start seeing something completely by faith, you see something completely different, don't you? And then you can help people get their other judgment out of their eyes, their judgmental thinking. Which doesn't help us, by the way, it kills us. Remember the letter does what? Kills? Can it do it? Can it bring any life? No, it can only kill. The spirit can't says a letter kills, the spirit brings life. It's black and white. The letter kills, the spirit brings life. The letter cannot bring life, the spirit cannot bring death. You know, remember uh in Moses? Remember the spirit went down and killed the firstborn? It was a spirit of death. It wasn't the spirit of God, it was a sp- it was the spirit of death that came upon a dense sense of relief. Okay, I already had that. I'm gonna have to read it again. Hey, we're getting there. Almost to chapter 19. Kind of like when you're like in fifth grade and you're almost in sixth grade, you know, you're just getting excited. Then you get to you know, you race your way to 21 with the accelerator on, and then you get to go to the bar and think you're something, and then the rest of your life you got the foot on the brake, and it goes faster and faster, whether you like it or not. And the huge celestial messenger, this another message, lifted what seemed like a massive millstone and cast it into the sea, saying, So shall Babylon, the great prostitute city, be hurled into the ocean, and not a single trace of her existence shall ever be found again. Now, here's the message there. This is a celestial messenger. In other words, I God says, I'm gonna take that system and I'm gonna pick a massive millstone, it's gonna go to the bottom, it can't flow back up, it can't come back, you can't see it again. Because why would God do that? Why is he like doing this judgment or this crisis? Because this is a foreign system to your design, and it's bad for you, and it hurts you. And God doesn't like you being hurt, he loves you, he wants the best for you.
