Ok so no Milk carton images went out. No amber alert sent. They just turned around in and amongst all that was distracting them along the journey and noticed that they had lost Jesus.

No but and so think about this in todays terms. Imagine for a minute you lost your 12-year old boy. Ha, and I am not picking on you, but no doubt panic would be in a panic. Our kids today are in no shape to be lost and somehow all of a sudden to become self sufficient. Nope, in fact if cell-phones, laptops, and computers were to shut down for a week, well you know when Jesus stated that he would have to intervene least we lose all of humanity, He may very well have been talking about the day when all electronics stop working. Ha, and we thought it might be a nuclear war or something. Nope, probably just a manifestation of humanity not having electronics to tell them how to eat or stuff.:

Matt 24:22 - 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened.

Ok so all kidding aside, you might well imagine the implications of losing your kid in today’s world. Now but, not that it wasn’t traumatic in those days, apparently one or two days without your kid was not such a big deal. Ok so we get on with a great message, and I know this because I already wrote it and so I know the end from the beginning and this is a great message.

And but so this message isn’t about “them” losing God. We know that after He was found she was a bit embarrassed, so much so that she forgot who He was. Ha, no but look at verse 48, “48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”

If Mary was correct God was also looking for Jesus as He somehow would have had to have gotten away from Him as well. But we know that Mary was incorrect when she said your father and I have been looking. Joseph wasn’t the father of Jesus, so she must have been like the lady in the following short story momentarily.

Now if you have ever lost one of your kids, when you discovered them back of the store eating candy that they had borrowed, no doubt you did not forget who they were. Oh you may have shouted out the Lords name in vain, which may have sounded like, “oh Jesus Christ we have been looking for you all over the place.” But this does not mean that you forgot, nor does it mean you were actually looking for Jesus; and so but also inadvertently you also lied, because it wasn’t Him you were looking for with that attitude. Ha, so but this message is going to be about how it is that “you” may have lost Jesus, but not as a young man, but after you became born-again. Let’s lay it down first before we get into it:

Luke 2:43-48 - 43 When they had finished the days, as they returned, the Boy Jesus lingered behind in Jerusalem. And Joseph and His mother did not know it; 44 but supposing Him to have been in the company, they went a day’s journey, and sought Him among their relatives and acquaintances. 45 So when they did not find Him, they returned to Jerusalem, seeking Him. 46 Now so it was that after three days they found Him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the teachers, both listening to them and asking them questions. 47 And all who heard Him were astonished at His understanding and answers. 48 So when they saw Him, they were amazed; and His mother said to Him, “Son, why have You done this to us? Look, Your father and I have sought You anxiously.”
