Psalm 149

Israel Invoked to Praise the Lord.

149 Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song,
And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones.

-          Israel invoked to Praise the Lord

o   Chapter 148 was about the same subject (listen to the podcast @ Outbless.com)

-          Israel means “in awe of peace” and “teaching peace”

o   Once we understand that God Almighty sent His one and only Son to die on a cross to pay for our sins so we could be forgiven and have peace with God again -  you will be in awe that God was willing to pay such a heavy price for you!

o   God teaches us peace by sending His Son, His word and the Holy Spirit

§  By grace you are saved not of works, lest any man should boast

§  It is all God’s doing and He is still teaching us !

-          If you are in awe of His peace, then you are also being “invoked” to actively Praise the Lord” – this involves your mouth, your lips, your tongue, your throat and most importantly your heart.

o   If you the truth of your salvation has truly set in you can’t help but want to praise Him with your voice outloud even if you can’t sing very well (make a joyful noise to the Lord)

-          Praise the Lord!

o   This is a command. It’s not optional

o   We should Praise God daily for everything has already done and what He does today and tomorrow as well

-          Sing to the Lord a new song

o   This means a new song that you have not sang before

o   Its going to requires some thought and preparation

o   You may have to write a song

o   You  may have to write a melody

o   You may have to write the notes to be played on instructions

o   This is what is involved in a new song

o   Then you must sing it, practice it and then perform it as a sacrifice to God Himself!

-          And His praise in the congregation of the godly ones

o   This means in church the ecclesia (a gathering of believers)

o   It can be a home church or phone church or big church (it doesn’t matter)

o   When we come together there should be praise & worship of the one true God

o   This pleases God and should be done with great joy and thanksgiving in our hearts

§  We can’t thank Him or praise Him enough

§  Is that what is in your heart today?

2 Let Israel be glad in his Maker;
Let the sons of Zion rejoice in their King.

-          Let Israel be glad in his Maker

o   Israel is a place

o   Israel is a nation

o   Israel is a tribe of people

o   Israel is also everyone who has been grafted in by faith in Jesus Christ

§  in awe of peace

-          Notice what we should be glad in

o   His Maker

o   Jesus Christ made everything you can see and touch

o   We should be exceeding glad in our Maker!
