Romans Chapter 1

The Gospel Exalted

1 Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God, 2 which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh, 4 who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness, Jesus Christ our Lord, 5 through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake, 6 among whom you also are the called of Jesus Christ;

Paul tells us he is a bond-servant of Christ Jesus. A bond servant chooses to remain the service of his master for life. He was free to leave but decided to stay and serve for life.  A symbol of this choice was to be pierced against a tree (an earing).

… called as an apostle, set apart for the gospel of God.  Paul was set apart for this specific purpose “the gospel of God”.  The gospel is “the good news” of eternal life by faith in Jesus Christ not of works lest anyone should boast.  It’s great news. It’s available to everyone right now!

.. which He promised beforehand through His prophets in the holy Scriptures (this story is throughout the old testament.

 … who was declared the Son of God with power by the resurrection from the dead, according to the Spirit of holiness.  No other religious figure in history rose from the dead. Christ alone.  The empty tomb is the proof.  Over 500 witnesses saw him alive after death.

Jesus Christ our Lord, through whom we have received grace and apostleship to bring about the obedience of faith among all the Gentiles for His name’s sake.  Jesus Christ is our Lord (He alone) is our Lord. .. through whom we have received grace (this was the gift of Jesus Christ to all mankind; that’s me; that’s you; that’s everyone who calls upon His name).Obedience of faith instead of obedience to the Law. You can’t keep the law. But you can have faith in Jesus Christ and be saved from your sin. Just ask Jesus Christ to forgive you and make Him Lord of your life.

Jesus is calling Gentiles (those who did not know Him. They did not know the scriptures or the prophets.  They were all those far away from the truth. This can include each and every one of us. Now you know the truth and the truth will set you free.

You are the called of Jesus Christ!  He is calling your name. He is calling you “beloved”. He is calling you like a loving father. Feel the tug at your heart.  Respond even now. Just talk to Him and you will begin to know His love…

7 to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

.. to all who are beloved of God in Rome, called as saints. Everyone who believes in Jesus Christ and invites Him to be Lord is “beloved of God”. As soon as you do this, you become “saints”.

Now you can say “grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ” because all about what Jesus accomplished on the cross. Your track record, my track record no longer matters. It’s Jesus Christ’s perfect track record that gets imputed to you and I by faith!

By faith you receive grace (Gods Riches At Christ’s Expense). When you receive grace you automatically have peace from God our Father.

8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, because your faith is being proclaimed throughout the whole world. 9 For God, whom I serve in my spirit in the preaching of the gospel of His Son, is my witness as to how unceasingly I make mention of you,
