Romans Chapter 2- The Impartiality of God

2 Therefore you have no excuse, everyone of you who passes judgment, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things. 2 And we know that the judgment of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things. 3 But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgment on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgment of God? 4 Or do you think lightly of the riches of His kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance?

Therefore (because of the long list of sins we just read in Chapter 1:26-32) you have no excuse, everyone who passes judgement, for in that which you judge another, you condemn yourself; for you who judge practice the same things.  Be careful not to start wagging your finger and condemning people.  We have all sinned. Some of us judging others practice the same things (this is very hypocritical).

And we know that judgement of God rightly falls upon those who practice such things (practicing is continuing to sin knowing its wrong). But do you suppose this, O man, when you pass judgement on those who practice such things and do the same yourself, that you will escape the judgement of God?  This is obviously not going to go well for either party!!!

Or do you think lightly of the riches of his kindness and tolerance and patience, not knowing that the kindness of God leads you to repentance.  Notice this… It’s the kindness and tolerance and patience of God that leads you, leads me, leads them to repentance.  Its not the fear of wrath it’s the kindness of God!

5 But because of your stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself in the day of wrath and revelation of the righteous judgment of God, 6 who will render to each person according to his deeds: 7 to those who by perseverance in doing good seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life; 8 but to those who are selfishly ambitious and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. 9 There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil, of the Jew first and also of the Greek, 10 but glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. 11 For there is no partiality with God.

But because of stubbornness and unrepentant heart you are storing up wrath for yourself (stubbornness and unrepentant heart) is the problem.  Pray that God breaks the stubbornness and unrepentant heart! It’s deadly. It results in storing up wrath for yourself.

Don’t fool yourself – God will render to each person according to his deeds!

To those who by perseverance in doing good (this means they keep doing good inspite of the opposition and problems) seek for glory and honor and immortality, eternal life.  This speaks about what we are seeking. What are the real goals in our heart?  Are you seeking glory and honor and immortality with a view of eternal life.  You will get what you are seeking!

But to those who are selfishly ambition and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, wrath and indignation. There will be tribulation and distress for every soul of man who does evil. If what you seek and follow after is selfish ambition and you won’t obey God.  Extreme difficulty is on the way and in your immediate path.  It’s urgent! Repent and turn from your sin and ask the Lord to forgive you. It’s the only chance you have to get saved from sin.

But glory and honor and peace to everyone who does good … For there is no partiality with God. God is an equal opportunity blesser !
