A sudden storm has caused deadly floods in Texas, killing over 100 people. One of the worst-hit places was Camp Mystic, a girls’ summer camp, where at least 27 people died — some were just eight years old. The flooding happened after heavy rain fell very quickly. The Guadalupe River rose fast and flooded cabins near the water. Survivors saw trees fall and children pulled from the water. Warnings were given, but the storm got worse too quickly. Experts say this area often floods, and climate change could cause more extreme weather like this in the future.

Apple is going to court to fight a €500 million fine from the European Commission. The EU says Apple broke the law by stopping app makers from telling users about cheaper options outside the App Store. Apple disagrees and says the fine is unfair and will make things harder for users and developers. This is one of the first big cases under the EU’s new Digital Markets Act, which aims to limit the power of big tech companies. Experts say Apple’s appeal was expected, but the legal fight could take a long time and cause more tension with the USA.

Sean "Diddy" Combs has been denied bail after being found guilty of transporting women for sex. He was not found guilty of more serious charges like sex trafficking, but the judge said he must stay in jail until sentencing in October. He could face up to 20 years in prison. The judge pointed to his past violence and warnings from ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura, who said he is dangerous. The trial lasted two months, with over 30 witnesses and a video of Combs hitting Ventura. Combs says he has changed, but the judge disagreed. He still faces several civil lawsuits.

This year’s Wimbledon has seen a big shake-up, with many top players losing early. Eight of the world’s top 10 were knocked out in the first rounds — something never seen before. In total, 19 seeded men and 17 seeded women were eliminated in the first week.
Players say they feel tired, with little rest after the clay court season. Moving from clay to grass is also difficult, needing different skills and mindset. The courts have been slower and more slippery than usual, probably due to recent hot weather.
Now, with many stars out, lower-ranked players have a rare chance to shine.
Self-development
We all know children need play to grow — but adults need it too. As life gets busier with work and responsibilities, many of us forget how important play still is. But research shows that adding more play into our lives can improve our mental and physical health.
Play doesn’t just mean sports or board games. It can be anything that brings joy — writing stories, painting, dancing, gaming, or even collecting things you love. Studies show playful adults are more creative, hopeful, and better at managing stress. They are also more active and feel more supported in their relationships.
One study even found daily play helped people with chronic illnesses feel better and talk more with loved ones.
In short, play isn’t just for kids it’s key for adults too. It helps us feel alive, connected, and happy. So, if life has felt a bit heavy lately, ask yourself: when did you last play?
Well, that’s all from NEWS OF THE WORLD for now. I hope you make time for play today, and I’ll talk to you soon! Take care!
