Hello, Cate here and welcome back to NEWS OF THE WORLD!

In World News…

President Trump is eight months into his second term and continues to use bold, controversial tactics. At the weekend, he shared a meme threatening to “wage war” on Chicago, showing his strongman style.

But problems are growing. The US economy is slowing, with unemployment at its highest since 2021 and factory jobs falling. Courts have blocked some of his key policies, including immigration crackdowns and the use of the National Guard.

Abroad, his summit with Putin was followed by heavy attacks on Kyiv, and tensions with India are rising. Trump’s support stays strong, but doubts about his leadership are increasing.

Business News

Google has avoided a major breakup in a big US court case over its power in online search. The Judge ruled Google is a monopoly but isn’t forcing it to sell Chrome or face tight controls on Android.

Instead, Google must share parts of its search index with rivals and allow them to show Google results as their own. The company can still pay Apple and Samsung to feature its search engine, but it cannot make exclusive deals.

The judge said new artificial intelligence companies could challenge Google’s dominance. Another case on Google’s advertising power begins soon.

Entertainment

Italian fashion legend Giorgio Armani has died at the age of 91. Known for elegance and timeless tailoring, he reshapedmen’s and women’s suits and built a global empire that expanded into perfume, hotels and even sport.

Tributes came from Donatella Versace, Russell Crowe, Julia Roberts and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, who called him “a symbol of the best of Italy.”

Armani dressed stars like Cate Blanchett and Lady Gaga, and designed film costumes for American Gigolo and The Wolf of Wall Street. Vogue praised him as a “true gentleman”. His influence will inspire fashion for generations.

Sport

The world’s biggest illegal sports streaming site, Streameast, has been closed. The site had over 1.6 billion visits last year, showing pirated streams of Premier League football, Formula One and baseball.

Egyptian police, working with the anti-piracy group ACE, arrested two men near Cairo. They took laptops, phones, cash and cryptocurrency, and linked the site to a company in the UAE used to hide almost $7m of advertising money.

Broadcasters welcomed the move, but experts say piracy will continue. With increasing subscription costs and many platforms needed to watch sport, illegal streams remain popular with younger fans.

Self-development

Last time, we talked about why core values matter. Today, let’s look at how to discover them.

Core values are the deep principles that guide your life. They might be honesty, compassion, freedom, growth, family, or creativity. Everyone’s set is different, but they shape how we act and what makes us feel fulfilled.

A good way to find yours is to reflect on important moments. When have you felt most proud, alive, or at peace? Was it helping someone, achieving a goal, or creating something new? Each moment points to a value.

You can also learn from the opposite. Think about times you felt frustrated or upset. Often, that’s because an important value — like fairness, respect, or trust — was being ignored.

Try to reduce it down to three to five values. Once you know them, you will have a compass for decisions, relationships, and goals that truly fit who you are.

Well, that’s all from NEWS OF THE WORLD for now. I hope you live authentically today, and I’ll talk to you soon! Take care!
