Hello, Cate here and welcome back to NEWS OF THE WORLD!

In World News…

The situation in Gaza is changing quickly, but here is the latest at the time of recording.  US President Donald Trump has asked Israel and Hamas to “move fast” to end the war. Peace talks are starting in Egypt, with the US, Qatar, and Egypt helping. Hamas has agreed to some parts of Trump’s 20-point peace plan, including releasing hostages, but not to disarm or give up control of Gaza. Trump says the first phase could finish this week. Air strikes in Gaza are still happening, with many people killed. It is hoped these talks might finally bring a ceasefire — but nothing is certain yet.

Business News

Jaguar Land Rover stopped car production for a month after a big cyber-attack shut down its factories in the UK. The company lost about £50 million each week, and smaller suppliers also struggled. Experts say many companies are at risk because they use “just-in-time” systems — where parts arrive only when needed, with no backup stock.

Other major firms like Marks & Spencer and key European airports have also been hacked this year. Cyber experts warn that businesses and governments have not done enough to protect computer systems and must act quickly to stop more damage in the future.

Entertainment

Taylor Swift is one of the world’s biggest music stars, known for writing songs about her own life. She turns real experiences — love, heartbreak and growing up — into lyrics that many people can relate to.

Her “Eras Tour” broke records around the world, showing how much fans connect to her honest stories. Swift’s music feels personal, like reading someone’s diary set to melody. She shows that being open and real can be powerful. By sharing her life in song, Taylor Swift reminds us that emotions — good or bad — can bring people together through music.

Sport

Ski resorts in Europe are using snow-saving mats to protect snow from melting during summer. The big white covers trap cold air and stop the snow from disappearing. When winter comes, the saved snow is spread back on the slopes.

This idea started in Finland and is now used in Switzerland, Spain and the US. The mats can keep about 80% of the snow frozen, even in warm weather. Some people say it’s only a short-term answer to climate change, but for many ski resorts, it helps them stay open and keep jobs while winters get shorter.

Self-development

Winter can make many people feel tired or sad. The days are short, the light disappears early, and life feels heavier. That’s why optimism is important. It’s not about ignoring problems — it’s about believing that things can improve.

Positivity is about focus. If you only look at what’s wrong, you will feel worse. But if you look for small, good things — a smile, a warm drink, a calm moment — you will start to feel lighter.

Studies show that people who think positively handle stress better and feel healthier. So as winter arrives, try to notice what is still good around you. Optimism is a kind of strength — a reminder that even in dark seasons, there is always a bit of light left to find. What ray of hope have you noticed today?

Well, that’s all from NEWS OF THE WORLD for now. I hope you live with a positive attitude today, and I’ll talk to you soon! Take care!
