Hello, Cate here and welcome back to NEWS OF THE WORLD!

In World News…

Millions of Americans joined peaceful “No Kings” marches this weekend to protest against President Trump and what they see as his growing power. Rallies took place in big cities like New York, Los Angeles and Washington. People said they want to protect democracy and freedom.

The White House dismissed the protests, and Mr Trump shared videos online joking about them.

Democrats hope the huge turnout will help them win future elections, but their party is still divided. The protests also happened while the US government remains partly shut down. The next test will be the local elections later this year.

Business News

Millions of people could not use apps or websites last Monday when Amazon Web Services (AWS) stopped working. The problem affected banking, shopping, and travel sites like United Airlines and Lloyds Bank. Over 6.5 million people reported issues worldwide before Amazon fixed the problem.

Experts say it was not a cyberattack but a technical fault in one of Amazon’s main data centres. The outage showed how much the world depends on a few big tech companies. When one fails, millions are affected. Elon Musk’s X app was not hit, and he used the chance to promote his new chat feature.

Entertainment

A bold robbery at the Louvre shocked Paris. In just seven minutes, thieves used a truck with a lift to reach a first-floor window, cut their way in and stole parts of the French crown jewels. Eight items went missing; one crown was later found damaged. Alarms worked and staff raised the alarm, but the raid showed big security gaps. Criminal gangs prefer jewels because they can be broken up and sold easily. Recent thefts of gold and porcelain in France show thieves are becoming more daring. Authorities now face strong pressure to improve museum security quickly.

Sport

Cross-country running and cyclocross might be added to the 2030 Winter Olympics in France, says World Athletics president Sebastian Coe. He thinks there is a good chance it will happen, especially with new IOC president Kirsty Coventry open to new ideas.

The plan is to hold both races on the same course in the French Alps, which could also help African countries join the Winter Games.

The IOC is also thinking about moving some indoor sports, like judo, to winter. These changes are part of plans to make the Olympics more modern and interesting for younger audiences.

Self-development

Do you feel your life is balanced? The Wheel of Life is a great way to find out.

Take a piece of paper and draw a big circle. Then divide it into eight parts, like a pizza. In each part, write something important to you — maybe work, health, friends, money, family, fun, or rest.

Now, score each area from 1 to 10 — 10 means you are very happy, 1 means not happy. 1 is in the inside of the circle and 10 is on the outer edge. Put a dot for each score and join the dots.

Look at your wheel — is it round or bumpy? This shows which parts of your life need more care and attention.

You can then set small goals to improve those areas. It’s a simple, visual way to understand your life and make it more balanced.

Well, that’s all from NEWS OF THE WORLD for now. I hope you live with balance today, and I’ll talk to you soon! Take care!
