Hello, Cate here and welcome back to NEWS OF THE WORLD!
In World News…
In a move described as the most dramatic royal intervention in nearly a century, King Charles has formally stripped Prince Andrew of his princely status and ordered him to leave his long-time home, Royal Lodge in Windsor. Andrew, now 65, will no longer be “His Royal Highness” and will instead be known simply as Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The decision follows renewed public outrage over Andrew’s association with Jeffrey Epstein, intensified by the recent release of Virginia Giuffre’s memoir, in which she accuses Andrew of sexual abuse – allegations he continues to deny.
Two weeks ago, Andrew gave up his remaining titles and military honours, but it wasn’t enough to stop the pressure. The King has now acted decisively, with the Palace making it clear that this was Charles’s decision alone, backed by the wider family – including Prince William.
Andrew will be moved to a smaller property funded privately by the King.
Critics say this is still not real accountability, but royal historians call the move “unprecedented”, comparing it to the 1936 abdication crisis. Whether the public sees this as justice – or simply damage control – remains to be seen.
Business News
Amazon has announced plans to cut 14,000 jobs – but interestingly, the company says the decision isn’t about saving money or replacing workers with AI. Instead, CEO Andy Jassy says the move is about “culture.”
Speaking after Amazon reported a strong 13% rise in quarterly sales, Jassy explained that the company has simply become too big and too slow. As Amazon expanded over the past few years – growing to more than 1.6 million employees at its peak – extra layers of management formed, and teams became less efficient. In his words, when a company grows so fast, you can “weaken the ownership of the people doing the actual work.”
Jassy wants Amazon to operate as what he calls “the world’s largest startup” – fast, lean, and focused. That means removing unnecessary layers and cutting roles to keep decision-making quick.
Even so, the news has reignited fears about AI replacing human jobs, especially since Amazon has heavily invested in automation. But for now, Jassy insists the layoffs are about structure, not technology.
Investors didn’t seem worried – Amazon’s share price jumped 13% after the announcement.

Well, here’s a headline few of us would have predicted: former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and American pop star Katy Perry are officially a couple. The pair were spotted hand-in-hand in Paris, celebrating Perry’s 41st birthday, and after months of rumours the relationship now seems confirmed.
On the surface, it’s an unlikely match: a former world leader and a chart-topping pop icon. But look a little closer and it makes more sense. Both are newly single, both have spent years under intense public scrutiny, and both have seen their reputations take a hit recently. As one media analyst put it, this romance is a “rebranding” moment for them both.
For Perry, being linked to a respected statesman gives her fresh cultural credibility after a poorly reviewed album. For Trudeau, dating a global superstar shifts the conversation away from political scandal and into a softer, more relatable space.
They also share values: activism, progressive politics, and a strong public image around parenting. And of course – as observers keep reminding us – there’s also the simple fact they might just genuinely like each other!
Sport
Jannik Sinner has won the Paris Masters for the first time, beating Canada’s Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-4, 7-6. The victory also puts the 24-year-old Italian back at world number one, pushing Carlos Alcaraz into second place just before the season-ending ATP Finals.
Sinner is now on a 26-match winning streak on indoor hard courts, showing the form that has defined his rivalry with Alcaraz this year. Between them, they have won the last eight Grand Slam titles and sit far ahead of the rest of the men’s tour.
The ranking race is not over, though. Sinner leads Alcaraz by 250 points, but he also has more to defend at the Finals in Turin, where he won last year. One slip could hand the top spot back to Alcaraz.
Sinner says he is “happy to return to number one,” but is focused on recharging for the final push.
The season ends in Italy — and the battle for year-end number one is still alive.
Self-development
Today we’re returning to the Wheel of Life — but instead of using it just for personal balance, we’re looking at how flexible it can be in different areas of life and work.
Most people know the traditional version with segments like health, relationships, career and so on, but the wheel can be customised for almost any purpose. For example, in a work or career context, you can label the eight segments with the most important skills for your current role — or the role you want. That might include leadership, communication, digital skills, time management, creativity, industry knowledge, teamwork and problem-solving. Score yourself from 1 to 10 in each area and the gaps will instantly show you where to focus your development.
Managers can do the same for their team: eight key behaviours, eight scores, and a visual snapshot of strengths and weaknesses. In health, the wheel could include sleep, nutrition, mobility, stress, strength, social connection, hydration and rest. Again, score it, spot the gaps, set a plan.
The power of the wheel is not just in filling it in once, but in coming back to it. Review it monthly or quarterly, rescore yourself and look for progress. Even a one-point increase is evidence that the work you’re doing is paying off. Tiny gains add up.
The wheel is simple, visual and honest — and that’s why it works.
Well, that’s all from NEWS OF THE WORLD for now. I hope you develop yourself today, and I’ll talk to you soon! Take care!
