Hello, Cate here and welcome back to NEWS OF THE WORLD!

In World News…

King Charles has removed his brother Prince Andrew from the royal family and taken away his title of “prince.” Andrew must also leave his large home at Windsor and move to a smaller house in the countryside.

This happened because of Andrew’s links to Jeffrey Epstein, a man convicted of sex crimes. A new book by Virginia Giuffre, who accuses Andrew of abuse, made people angry again. Andrew says he is innocent.

The King acted to protect the royal family, but some people say it is not enough and that Andrew should face the law. Andrew is still eighth in line to the throne.

Business News

Amazon is cutting 14,000 jobs, but the company says it’s not because of money or AI. The CEO, Andy Jassy, says Amazon has grown too big and now has too many layers of managers, which slows everything down. He wants the company to feel like a fast startup again.

Amazon had more than 1.6 million workers in 2021, and Jassy says the company needs fewer people so teams can work faster and take more responsibility.

Some people worry AI will replace jobs, but Amazon says these job cuts are about organisation, not technology. After the news, Amazon’s stock price went up 13%.

Entertainment

Justin Trudeau, the former Prime Minister of Canada, is now dating American pop singer Katy Perry. They were seen holding hands in Paris, and photos of them together on a yacht have already gone viral.

It may seem like a strange couple, but they have things in common. Both are newly single, both are famous, and both have had bad publicity recently. Being together gives them a fresh start in the public eye.

Perry has supported political causes, and Trudeau is known for his progressive ideas, so they share similar values. For now, neither has spoken publicly – but the world is watching.

Sport

Jannik Sinner has won the Paris Masters, beating Felix Auger-Aliassime in straight sets. The victory puts him back at world number one, just ahead of Carlos Alcaraz. Sinner is now on a 26-match winning run on indoor hard courts.

The ranking battle is not finished. The final event of the season, the ATP Finals in Turin, will decide who ends the year as number one. Sinner and Alcaraz have dominated men’s tennis this year, winning the last eight Grand Slams between them.

Sinner said he is happy, but he still needs to play well in Turin to stay on top. The season will finish with a showdown.

Self-development

The Wheel of Life we talked about last week is not only for personal balance. You can use it for many goals. Just change the labels on the eight sections.

For work, write the top eight skills you need for your job — or a job you want. For example: leadership, communication, teamwork, problem-solving, time management, digital skills, creativity and industry knowledge. Score yourself from 1 to 10 in each part. The low numbers show where you need to improve.

Managers can use the wheel for team skills. For health, you could use sleep, food, exercise, stress, water, rest, mobility and social life.

The important step is to repeat it. Check your wheel every month or every three months and score again. Small changes show real progress.

The wheel works because it is simple, visual, and honest.

Well, that’s all from NEWS OF THE WORLD for now. I hope you develop yourself today, and I’ll talk to you soon! Take care!
