President Trump has created a new “Board of Peace” — a global group meant to solve conflicts, with himself as chairman for life and a billion-dollar membership fee. Canada agreed to join but not to pay, and soon found its invitation publicly cancelled on social media.
European countries are not enthusiastic either. France says the Board conflicts with the UN, Spain has said no, and the UK is watching carefully, especially as Russia might be involved.
Trump and Canada’s prime minister, Mark Carney, exchanged critical comments about who depends on whom.
So far, the Board of Peace hasn’t created a lot of peace…
Business News
At the Davos economic summit, attention unexpectedly shifted from politics to French President Emmanuel Macron’s sunglasses. The stylish aviator shades quickly went viral online, creating huge buzz.
The glasses were made by Maison Henry Jullien, a small luxury eyewear company in France owned by Italian group iVision Tech. After people identified the brand, interest grew, and the company’s website crashed for a short time.
The sunglasses sell for around €660 and are handmade using traditional techniques.
For the business world, it shows how powerful visibility can be. One famous person wearing a product can bring massive attention — often more effective than expensive advertising.
Entertainment
The internet had a new favourite drama last week — the Beckhams.
Brooklyn Beckham shocked fans by accusing his parents, David and Victoria, of pretending everything was perfect online and leaking stories about him to the media. Social media loved every second.
For years, the Beckhams have looked like the ultimate celebrity family, but behind the glamorous photos things seem far more complicated.
Brooklyn has tried many careers — from modelling and photography to coffee projects and launching hot sauces — without settling on one clear direction. Add rumours of tension during his wedding to Nicola Peltz, and it’s easy to see why emotions erupted.
Even famous families have very normal drama.
Sport
The rugby Six Nations will soon be back, and the favourites are clear.
France are defending champions, Ireland want their crown back, and England arrive on a big winning run. Most eyes are firmly on those three.
Scotland, though, are quietly under the radar.
Recent tournaments haven’t gone their way, and a difficult autumn has lowered expectations. But they have actually built one of their strongest squads in years, with club success and rising confidence.
With less pressure, Scotland can play freely — and they are very good at upsetting bigger teams.
They may not be favourites, but they could make this Six Nations far more interesting than expected.
Self-development
Resilience is the ability to cope with challenges and keep going when things feel hard — and right now, many of us are facing stress at work and in the wider world.
You can build resilience with simple habits: get enough rest, take short breaks, move your body, and limit how much negative news you consume. Talking things through with friends or writing down worries also helps clear your mind.
At work, resilience grows when people support each other. Ask for help, share problems early, and celebrate small wins as a team. Strong connections make difficult days easier.
When the world feels overwhelming, focus on what you can control — helping others, learning new skills, or taking positive action.
Resilience isn’t about being perfect. It’s about adapting, recovering, and moving forward — one step at a time.
What can you do this week to build your resilience?
Well, that’s all from NEWS OF THE WORLD for now. I hope you work on building your resilience today, and I’ll talk to you soon! Take care!
