Speaker 1:

Hello everyone. It's Victoria here, and welcome to another episode of my entrepreneur diary. So, as you can all hear, it doesn't sound great. This is when I wish I'd done a pre-rec. I really do, but what can you do? I've got such a busy week planned as well. I had a meeting with Angie, best planned for tomorrow, which I can't even tell you what I was so excited for. Oh my God, I was so excited, but what can you do? And then I've got my son Harry's birthday. He's 19 on Tuesday. So I'm hoping that I'm going to be better by Tuesday or Wednesday Because, as I say, we've got to arrange another day for myself and Angie, and also there's lots of other stuff that I have got to do as well.

Speaker 1:

What can you do? So last week, I said to you that this week I would be covering confidence in this episode, so I think you'll have to bear with me a bit. So, actually, I didn't think this episode was going to go this way, because what I did in the week is something that I've been wanting to do for a while, and I had the idea that I was going to do a course on confidence. Now, having a stage background, I have really suffered with my confidence and then I gained confidence and I've got previous strategies that work. So I have written a little bit of this course. But, of course, what did I do? I said on social media I'm looking at doing a course next year, probably to release March, april time, and, oh my God, my DMs blew up and it was a lot of people asking for tips. So if you go on to the grid on my Instagram at the FEMA Entrepreneur Box, you will see my tips. There was a couple of tips I put on there for confidence, because I know that it is very, very difficult sometimes. There's a lot of people out there doing lives for their business. They're doing live stages, they're doing live on Instagram and Facebook and TikTok and everything else. But there's also a lot of people that want to do it, but they find it really, really difficult and at one point, even though I had a stage background, I found it very, very difficult too. Now I don't, but I use the strategies for myself that I used to use on stage when I was a singer and that just helped me immensely to go forward. So what I'm going to be doing next year is I'm going to be releasing this course, but we're going to do a challenge first, so it's going to be a free challenge, probably over on a Facebook group, because I think that's the best place to do the challenges. So in the next couple of weeks there's going to be a sign up box on my website where you can register interest and then you can get all the updates of what is going on with the female entrepreneur box and also with the course as well. So it's super, super, super exciting. I'm really excited about it.

Speaker 1:

So confidence, it's a tough one, isn't it? It really really is. And it's such a wide subject. And you know, I was thinking the other day because I was having a conversation with a friend and she said to me Victoria, are you as confident now as you were when you were younger, or is it the other way round?

Speaker 1:

And I had a really good think and there was a couple of scenarios that I actually thought of, and one of them was when I was about 17, 18 and I was trying to make it in the music industry. That is all I wanted to do. I wanted to be a singer, I didn't want to be anything else and I was going to get that record deal come. Hello, high Water, I was getting that record deal. I didn't care how, but I was going to do it, and I think probably it didn't really help that there were people around me who were getting record deals. So you know, for me it didn't seem that far away, it was touchable. And of course, you say this to some people and they'll be like, well, no, that's like they're famous people. But for me it was like, well, no, no, they're just people who are talented or, in some cases, not actually that talented, but they are able to get signed. And you know, I know people who have done that. So therefore I can do it.

Speaker 1:

And I remember my dad turning around to me and he said, victoria, we're going to go on holiday next year. I think we're going to go to Spain or somewhere like that. And I said to him I was in the car and I said, oh no, I can't go on that. And he said he just looks at me and he was like what do you mean? You can't go on it. I said, oh no, I can't go on that holiday because, you see, by this time next year I would have made it, so I would have got my record deal. So you know, I'm going to be really, really busy.

Speaker 1:

Now some people would say that that is a fantasist, but actually that was wrong or that is wrong. I should say that was my self belief. Now, as it happens, I could sing and I was. I can say this now. I wouldn't have actually said this back then, but I was good and it's quite nice now that I'm 43 and I don't really care what I say.

Speaker 1:

Well, to a point anyway, and there was just with every fibre of my being, there was not one Iota in me that thought that well, I wouldn't make it, I was going to make it and that was it. There was no question. Failure wasn't an option. Well, of course, I didn't make it. I did get into the record companies, so I was one of the ones what got very close, but unfortunately I just didn't get signed. But the moral to this story is I guess I would love to go back and bottle that confidence because I mean that's worth its weight in gold. I mean it really really is. Yeah, I just love to go back and tip that confidence into a little bottle and put that top on really tight and bring it back to 2023. Not to say that I'm not confident now because I am, but I don't know. There was just a difference in the confidence. And then I thought of another scenario hopefully you're staying with me at this point so the other I say scenario, but it is actually true.

Speaker 1:

So I was out in Australia, I was living out there for a few months. I went over to Surfers Paradise to meet with my friends and one morning I got up and I was like right, I'm going, I'm going shopping. And I had to catch a bus into town because it was quite a long walk. And one of my friends is like oh yeah, there's a bus stop over there. And so I was like okay, so anyway, the bus pulls up. I get on the bus and I did notice that there wasn't any windows. I did actually notice that and I just thought, well, I don't think I really thought anything else of it, because no one else batted an eyelid. They were just like well, they just all sat down. No one, no, no, yeah, no one took any notice. And I just thought well, you know it's a warm place, so you know why? Would you hear my voice going again, can't you? Oh god, I'd kind of broken through it a little bit there. Yeah, anyway, what was I saying? Yeah, so no one else took any notice that there wasn't any windows. So anyway, bus goes off.

Speaker 1:

And because it was a hot place, were you thinking, well, maybe there isn't windows in buses. So anyway, we're on the way to town and then all of a sudden the bus does a left turn onto the beach. So I'm thinking, oh okay. And then I'm looking around, but no one is surprised, no one is like looking around to say, oh God, you know why are we on the beach. So I just thought, oh, maybe maybe it takes a scenic route, oh my God. And I generally did think that. I thought perhaps it's takes a seat, you know that kind of route. And so it did.

Speaker 1:

It kind of went down the beach and then, like it was heading towards the water and then it kind of did this left turn and we were in the water and we were starting to go out into the water and it was getting quite deep, and then all of a sudden, and I'm looking around and no one is batting, and I did, and I'm thinking, oh my God, all of a sudden there's like a noise. It was like, oh, that sounded more like a cow and the wheels went up and then they kind of started turning and the bus had turned into a hovercraft. I know, I know I hadn't caught a bus. I was on a hovercraft that looked like a bus. Anyway, we went for a nice ride and eventually it did come out and, yeah, it went to town. So I did get to town in the end. But the moral to this story is because I looked around and no one else was kind of, they weren't panicking, they weren't looking. So, my God, now we're in the ocean, this bus has turned into a hovercraft and so I didn't panic.

Speaker 1:

But, truthfully speaking, I think I might panic now. So, in answer to my friend's question, is you know? The question, obviously, to recap, was are you more confident now or were you when you were younger? I think it's a little bit of both, because I think I probably wouldn't really really panic, but I might do a little bit, and I think that's all got to do with confidence, hasn't it? And this is going to be what I'm going to be covering in my course as one of the modules.

Speaker 1:

So as soon as I have the sign up box ready on the website, I will come back and I'll edit the show notes for you. Well, actually, I'll put the link in any way and you can keep checking back and you can sign up if you're interested, for if you're interested in the confidence course, and, of course, we have the launch of the female entrepreneur box for female entrepreneurs who are in their first 0 to 5, 6 years of business, which launches next month, on the 20th, which I just cannot believe. I'm so excited. It's taken two years of blood, sweat and tears, if I'm to be honest. It feels like that anyway. Anyway, I am going to leave it there for now because I'm not feeling fantastic and I will speak to you all very soon. I hope you have a wonderful week and thank you so much for taking the time to listen to my podcast. Please leave me a review if you have a minute. I would so appreciate that. Take care everyone.
