Justice Unraveled: Vulnerability Exposed, Vigilance in Crisis, and Urgent Calls for Change
What happens when justice wobbles and accountability falters, leaving our most vulnerable exposed? Today, I recount some heart-wrenching stories that have emerged from Detroit. You'll hear about the horrifying playground attack on a young girl whose assailant was released with minimal restrictions, prompting a deeper examination of our justice system's priorities. We'll also look into the troubling events at a Detroit hospital, where patients in restraints were assaulted due to staffing shortages, shining a light on the inadequacies within our mental health support systems. These incidents demand us to question whether our societal structures truly offer the protection they promise.
Shifting gears, let's talk about love and vigilance as tools of empowerment and safety. In a world where uncertainty looms, expressing love and protection for our children becomes paramount. I share a story of a young man in Sarasota, Florida, who exhibited remarkable calmness under the challenging "Stand Your Ground" laws, demonstrating the impact of composure in crisis. This episode is a call to action, encouraging us all to remain alert, consistently show appreciation for our loved ones, and advocate for systemic changes that prioritize true safety and well-being.
The Power of the Power, of the Power of the Power of All. Right, what it do, what it do. How is everyone this evening, this afternoon Hope your day was good Wanted to come on chit chat for a little bit because you know, whenever I have something to talk about, I come on and talk about it. It's your boy, damon. I'm here with the dk and tree podcast. Ah, a couple things I wanted to um talk about. You know, disturbing things I see and I come share it.
Speaker 1:So this story, two of them, two of them thursday, uh came out of detroit and you know watching the local news up there and I saw some things that just disturbed me. Here's the first one so little 70-year-old child playing on the playground Minding her own business, and this older guy comes up. Now I got two conflicting stories of the age. When I was up there they say he was 83. And then when I looked the story up, it said he was 73. Whatever, the guy's an older man. So he goes up to the little child and he grabs the girl's neck and he slashes the girl's throat. Little girl runs home right, she's screaming, and when the neighbors came out and they saw that she had some injuries to her neck so they put some pressure on it, you know, called fireboard, called um the police and everything. Well, the older brother saw this happen with his sister and he went and found the guy and he held the guy for the.
Speaker 1:But this just really bothered me because, again, these are our kids, kids just playing. This kid was playing by herself at the playground, minding her own business, minding her own business, and this random dude just comes up and slashes this girl's throat for no reason whatsoever. It's not like the girl threw some rocks at him or anything. No one deserves to be hurt by anyone, no one. And that bothered me because if you have children, this goes out to you. This is unacceptable behavior in our society. So of course you know it goes through and the family says, oh well, he has, he had a mental health issue and you know we he been trying, we've been trying to get him help this and that. But again, our kids are innocent. Our kids are innocent. How kids are innocent? Where in society do we think it's acceptable to do something to some children? It's not acceptable. And in that one instance it disturbed me because, again, these are kids, kids. That little girl did not deserve what she got from this guy.
Speaker 1:Now here's the other part of that story that just really bothered me. So the man now they considered that attempt, murder, first degree assault and all this. These are the charges, just from up there. The part that disturbed me was this man is out on a $2 million bond, home with an ankle bracelet and you tried to slash someone's throat. I think I've talked about this before. But our justice system and where do you think it's susceptible? This guy should be on the street after what he did to that little kid. That kid didn't deserve that. That kid didn't deserve anything. Two million dollar bond, that's it. And he's home on an ankle monitor. But you slash someone's it and he's home on an ankle monitor, but you slash someone's throat Again, where, where's the justice for the child?
Speaker 1:Where's the justice for the family? And you tell me he still gets to walk in society. He still gets to walk in society because he did this to a kid and he, he gets to be home. Right, but this little kid has to live with these scars forever. And it makes me think who really cares? Does your legislators care? Does your lawmakers care? Does the justice system care? Because why is this guy on the street.
Speaker 1:Like I said, that story bothered me so much because I have children. I have children and to see that this guy is home and not in some place where he should be. But doing something to a child disturbs me, disturbs me, disturbs me a lot. I'll text you, tj, I'll text you, I'll text you, but I think you know where I'm going at with that one. I'll text you on that. But my point is that again, of all the things that's going on out here in the world, we're doing something to little innocent children, innocent kids, right. That brings me to my world. We're doing something to little innocent children, innocent kids, right. That brings me to my second story. We're staying in Detroit Hospital to help with, you know, mental illness Hospital.
Speaker 1:Right had two instances there at this hospital facility, right where one. They were assaulted, and you know what I'm talking about when I mean assaulted. They were assaulted. There was in full restraints two females and it was assaulted by a patient that was there to that one to and they was assaulted by a patient that was there Two, not one, two when someone took advantage to them While they were in full restraints the first one. They said that the girl was. I guess they had her sedated, that's the word I'm trying to use. They had her sedated, that's the word I'm trying to use. They had her sedated and she it happened. Then the second one that one wasn't sedated. Right, they supposed to be there to get help, but again it wasn't the staff, it was another patient that did this. So my thing of it is is how did that patient have access to these rooms? Now, going through the story, they said that they didn't have enough staff. They're very short staff, they couldn't keep track of everybody or whatever. Now, again, someone in full restraints that can't defend their self and they're being assaulted by another patient. That's a problem. That's a problem, that is a problem. Again, all out of Detroit, these two stories, but the third one that happened there really got me. So they brought a girl in and it was there because she was trying to unalive herself. Right, she's supposed to be there to get help. Well, apparently she unalived herself in her room at this hospital. Well, apparently she unaligned herself in her room at this hospital.
Speaker 1:Now the lawmakers seem to be pretty upset about this because now, how can this happen? And, from what the hospital is saying, we don't have the staff for the patients. We don't have staff for this, we don't have staff for that, we don't have the people to help deal with this, and they kept saying that, hey, we need more people. And I guess someone ignored them. Again, you go in some place for help and you get assaulted. That's a problem. It's just like what do you do with a young lady playing at the playground right and minding her own business and this guy comes and slashes her neck when is enough enough. But the simple fact that he's out on bond and I'm going to go back to this one he's out on bond, right, but yet the mental hospital, right, there's no charges. That was filed.
Speaker 1:Ponder on that for a second. How did we get there? Assault is assault, so why isn't something being done? It's really sad that we have to sit back and bear witness to. Anything that's going on out here today Breaks my heart, because people are innocent, right, it's a pay, and the way people are being treated Now they have this guy out here attacking kids. This world we live in now, I agree, tj, I agree with you.
Speaker 1:Lack of awareness and accountability I agree with you. This is very, very sad that we have to sit out here and bear witness to the stuff going on. If anyone has kids, anyone that story goes out to you. Because how can you hurt some kids? You're preying on the innocent. When does that come acceptable these days? And even in a hospital, how does a patient go unnoticed and then go assault two people? And then you still didn't have enough staff. Someone come there for help and they unalive their self. How's that happen? Who's going to be accountable for this? Who are we going to hold accountable for this? We're just in a bad, bad situation all around.
Speaker 1:Let's go south. Anybody see the story about the little young man that was followed Down in Sarasota and apparently one guy got so upset that he was jumped out the car to go on the passenger side of the car for something, so someone can't walk through their own neighborhood. Now You're not supposed to be here. You don't belong here. We still dealing with this in 2024. We're still dealing with this. I don't belong around here. I'm not supposed to be here and you're getting questioned by three people for walking around the neighborhood and talking on the phone. You know it's great that that young man recorded that whole thing. It is Because why are you following this man around.
Speaker 1:I was always told don't go looking for trouble. I mean, is this reeking almost of what happened in Georgia? Sounds like it. Why are you looking for trouble? Leave people alone, you see. But the whole thing with Florida, we all know what Florida law does. Right, stay on your ground, right? So if that young man would have did anything or whatever they could have used, I was standing my ground. But I'm glad he had it in him just to stay cool and record everything and just keep walking. He never stopped, kept walking.
Speaker 1:When is this stuff going to stop? Seriously, when is violence going to stop? Pretty much it's not Right. When are we going to treat each other equally? I guess that's not going to happen either. Right, it is sad that we are seeing the instance that's going on today in our society and we still have to deal with it.
Speaker 1:Sad, and if anybody just jumped on, I went through three stories. The first one this happened out in Detroit. You can look these stories up. First one some old man decided he wanted to cut some little seven-year-old's throat. That's the first one. The second one mental hospital, right when they trying to get help, two people were assaulted by a patient in a mental hospital. Third, the young man being followed around his own neighborhood minding his business. What are you doing here? Where do you live here? Why is there any of your business? You have no rights to question me at all. Leave people alone. Let them go about their merry way, but for everything that's going on, when is it going to stop? That's the biggest thing. When is it going to stop? When is people going to mind their own business? When are people going to treat people with respect? When are people going to leave people alone or people that you know need help? Get them some help. Again.
Speaker 1:The Detroit story with the 70-year-old broke my heart. So kids can't even go outside and play anymore. Got to worry about somebody coming up cutting their throat. Thank God the girl survived. She did survive and she was talking about it on the news up there to the news people, but she has to live with that scar forever, forever, just like the people in the hospital. They got to live with what that patient did to them Forever. And the girl that unallowed herself in the room and no one was there, but she unallowed herself. The family has to live with that forever.
Speaker 1:Right Then Sarasota. We still living with this. I can't walk around my own neighborhood without being questioned. Serious problem in this country, serious problem. Yes, they need to mind their own damn business. Totally agree, need to mind their business.
Speaker 1:Like I said, I always jump on when I see stories like this because it makes no sense that we still even going through this. But, like I said in the, in the instance of the little seven-year-old girl, the guy is out on a $2 million bond with an ankle bracelet, but they charged him with attempt murder. Make it make sense. Make it make sense. I'm just saying if it wasn't for the older brother going to find that dude, he probably would have got away with it because he was still up there at the playground with the knife. Make it make sense.
Speaker 1:Anyone that has kids hug them, tell them you love them, protect them, even if you're feuding with them. Tell them you love them, protect them even if you're feuding with them. Tell them you love them, because you just don't know what sickos out here is going to impact people's lives. Yes, unbelievable, unbelievable. When are we going to say enough is enough and stand up to it? That's the only thing I'm saying. When are we going to say enough is enough and I'm standing up to it, your children, florida, sarasota because I'm hopping on that one too, and if anybody haven't seen the stories, go look it up. The incident, sarasota. But, like I said, I commend that young man for he kept walking and he kept his cool, because we all know how Florida roll. Stay on your ground, right. So if he would have got out of tune anyway, he might not be here. I commend that young man. But those are my three nuggets for today.
Speaker 1:Unbelievable, that we have to talk about this. Unbelievable everyone be safe, please. That we have to talk about this. Unbelievable Everyone be safe. Please Watch your back, because you just don't know what could be coming or what could be walking your way. Stay safe, tell your loved ones that you love them, and I'm going to say this for me If you're on here, I love them. And I'm going to say this for me, if you're on here, I love you and I appreciate you Everybody. Please stay safe, I'll see y'all soon.
