This episode is us sharing information about the upcoming vote on 9/13 here in the city of Allen on the Allen City budget. There are some councilmen who are proposing a NNR(no new revenue) tax rate for the city for the second year in a row.
The city budget as presented by city staff/management would make Allen the 2nd lowest tax rate city in all of N. Texas at 0.429 rate while also fully funding the cities needs for the next fiscal year at an increase of $10.00 average for THE ENTIRE YEAR to the households in Allen. That breaks down to less than a dollar a month.
Certain councilmen are proposing to take 1 million ARPA fund dollars from the street repair budget to buy down the tax rate to achieve NNR. The city budgeted 2 million dollars for street repair this year and this would be the second year in a row funds would be diverted from streets since funding was diverted last year from streets to achieve NNR.
If you agree a fully funded city is worth a $10.00 increase for the year in taxes then please email City Council at council@cityofallen.org and come to City Council on 9/13 and let them you say NO to NNR!! We also have a petition that we will share with Council showing them the citizens want a fully funded city!! Here is the link below!
