Lechi was an underground movement committed to expelling the British from the Promised Land in the 1940s. But it was also much more than that. It wanted a Jewish state from the Nile to the Euphrates and a Beis HaMikdash at its center. And it was unyielding. When Ben-Gurion shot at the Altalena, for example, Menachem Begin backed down; Lechi wanted to fight back.
