#32: This week on Rise, Recover, Live, Liz and Bryce The Third welcome back Founder and Executive Director of The Phoenix Scott Strode for a long-awaited conversation.
Since Scott was last on the show a lot has changed, namely Scott wrote and published his first book! Scott dives into the cathartic, sometimes scary, and emotional process of transcribing his own journey into recovery and healing, and spotlighting the work of The Phoenix movement.
In writing the book, Rise Recover Thrive, Scott reflects on what makes the movement special and successful, highlighting that the people who society sees as the problem are actually the solution. The movement focuses on the strength in people and treating them with dignity, believing that we all can all thrive and reach back hand to help others behind us.
After nearly two decades since founding The Phoenix, Scott seeks to memorialize this ethos of dignity and empowerment. Because even if The Phoenix is not the one to disrupt the way our country approaches addiction, those who come after us can be informed of what we were able to do and carry the movement even further.
Tune in to hear from Scott as we discuss his own recovery journey and why he emphasizes thriving even when it can feel like a place very far away. We discuss what initially drove him to do the work, and how this has evolved, and much more.
