Gretchen and I really hit it off when we started working together, which is exactly the kind of relationship you want with your editor. My stance has always been that the author knows where they want to go, and I’m simply the person holding the map in the passenger’s seat along for the ride. I can offer a few suggestions as to how we get to the final destination, but in the end, you’re the one in the driver’s seat.
