Hey, we're in week three of our series on Colossians. So, week three on this book that the Apostle Paul wrote. And the first week we talked about Christ above all. He said, Christ is supreme, Christ is sufficient. When our view of Jesus changes, everything else changes in our life. He is more than enough. Can I get an amen? But it's not just how we look at Jesus, it's spending time with him. Last week, we talked about the power of staying close to Jesus in prayer. So we spend time with him, we become like him, and then we get the power of the Holy Spirit through spending time with Jesus Christ. We are in day seven. Everybody say day seven. Day seven of 21 days of prayer and fasting. And this is what I want to tell you. Stay close to Jesus during these 21 days. Dig deeper with Jesus because I believe this that God's not just gonna give you miracles, he's gonna transform you and give you his power. How many of you want the power of Almighty God in your life? That's what I believe. That is what I want. Um, how many of you guys, y'all like, you know, like mystery books or mystery movies, like about treasure hunting, like like Indiana Jones? Anyone, any Indiana Jones fans? The Goonies. Come on. The Goonies. How about the outer banks? Anyone like the outer banks in here? Okay, how many coups we got up in this place? How many pogs we got? How many have no clue what I'm talking about right now? That's because you're sanctified and you're over 50. That's why. That's it. Let me tell you about this show. This show has 1.2 billion hours streamed in the first four seasons. It's all about teenagers, and these teenagers, every season, they go searching for like priceless treasure every season, and they find it every season, but somehow at the beginning of the next season, they're always broke. I don't know how that's possible. And has Pastor Sarah and I watched it, absolutely yes. Don't judge me. Do not judge me, pray for me, because there's another season coming out, and I'm excited, okay? I'm excited. Why? I like I like treasure hunting. I mean, think about it. What if you got a treasure map? It's like X marks the spot, and you're following the clues one step after another, and then you get the mystery, the treasure nobody else has. And if we're not careful, that's how we treat our spiritual walk. If we're not careful, we start thinking, well, there's a greater mystery than Jesus. There's a greater treasure than Almighty God, there's something more. And that's what Paul is telling the church of Colise. And I want to recap. He's writing them because in this church, well, there are false teachers. And these false teachers are saying this there's more than Jesus. It's Jesus plus other things. It's Jesus, but there's greater mysteries. It's Jesus and there's greater treasure. And Paul writes and just sets the record straight. He says, we're not searching for any other mystery. We're searching for the mystery that's already been revealed. And his name is Jesus Christ. Can I get an amen? So I want to talk to you today about the treasure that you've been looking for. The treasure you've been looking for. Turn with me to Colossians 2.2. Here's our text. Here's what here's what Paul says. Here it is. My goal is that they may be encouraged in heart and united in love, so that they may have the full riches of complete understanding, in order that they may know the mystery of God, namely Christ, in whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. I tell you this so that no one may deceive you by fine sounding arguments. Verse six. So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted, everyone say rooted. It's our harvest word of the year talk right there. Rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness. Can I get a big amen? Come on. He starts out with this the mystery of God is Christ Jesus. And in Jesus are all the treasures and the wisdom. So I want to tell you today the mystery has a name. And that word mystery, I love it because we all we all want answers in our life. Why am I here? What's my purpose? What is God trying to tell me? And for hundreds of years in the Old Testament, God was dropping hints for the greatest mystery that would ever be revealed. So we see in Hebrews, we see a few hints here and a few hints there. And then we see the prophet Isaiah. He tells us that the Messiah, what he would be like, and that he would suffer. And then Micah told us where Messiah would be born. And Daniel tells us he would rule and reign forever. So bit by bit, here's a hint, here's a clue. It was like a big puzzle, but we didn't have all the puzzle pieces for it yet. And they knew, well, a Messiah's coming, but how and when? And then Galatians 4:4, it says this. But when the set time had fully come, come on, God sent his son. One night in Bethlehem, everything changed. A baby was born, and that baby's name is Jesus. And suddenly all the promises and all the prophecies, all the clues, finally they made sense. God wasn't keeping the mystery from his people any longer, he was getting the world ready for his son. And when everything was ready, God pulled back the curtain of mystery. And here it is the mystery had a name. Come on, give God some praise right now. Come on, we can do better than that. Give God some praise right now. Come on. It's the mystery revealed. And I love what Jesus tells Thomas right here. Thomas asked him in John, he said, Lord, we don't know where you're going. So how can we even know the way? And Jesus says this to him, I am the way. Come on. I am the truth. I am the life. He didn't give him an agenda. No, he gave him himself. When I was younger, I used to love going on trips with my parents. I still do. Because when I got in the car with my parents, they're not the type of people on a trip where it's like, hey, shut up and you can hold it. We're getting to the place we're going. That's not them. Right? They're like, oh, we're going to enjoy the trip. And a lot of times the trip was just as fun as the destination with my mom and dad. Oh, we're going to stop and eat here. We're going to enjoy this attraction. We're going to take our time. A lot of times I got in the car, I didn't even know where we were going. But mom and dad, if they were in the front, hey, we're good to go. We're going to have some fun. It's going to be a great time. And here's the thing: the Christian life is just that way. God does not show us every turn. He doesn't answer every question, but he's given us his son. We have Jesus Christ. And there are seasons where God doesn't answer all of our questions. Is anybody in a season like that right now? Where God just, you've been praying, it's day seven. It's like, God, are you silent up there? You're asking for answers and you just get more questions. And you're asking, you're saying, God, give me the agenda. Give me the schedule. Show me what to do. And I'm telling you this more importantly, where you end up many times, it's who's with you on the journey. And Paul says it this way in him, not in your schedule, in him are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. He says this says, you don't get all the answers, you get Christ. And if you know it's true, Christ is more than enough. Come on, give God some praise right now. He's more than enough. It's not going to get something else. Christ is more than enough. He is the treasure. And 2 Corinthians says this, but we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God. It's not from us. So this is from God. It's not from us. In him is all the treasure. So here's your encouragement today. The more you get to know Jesus, the greater treasure that you have. The more you get to get close to Jesus, well, the greater wisdom that he reveals in your life. The more time that you spend close to him, well, the deeper you go in his love and his grace, his understanding. And some of you came in this place wanting answers today. You hope to get the answers. And I'm praying that you meet the answer because the answer has a name, and his name is Jesus. He transforms us. So Paul, he starts out okay, Jesus is the mystery revealed, and now we have treasures. And then the very next thing is he says, Beware, be careful for counterfeit treasure. Colossians, he says it this way I tell you this, so that no one may deceive you by fine sounding arguments. Other translations say by persuasive speech. Well, Paul, you just told us what the mystery is and the treasure. Why are you warning us? And I'll tell you why. Because anytime God gives us the real thing, the enemy's always working on a counterfeit. The enemy's always working on some sort of fraud. You don't counterfeit things that are worthless, okay? You don't counterfeit monopoly money, it's worthless. Right? You counterfeit stuff that is valuable. One of the great art frauds in history was pulled off by a Dutch painter named Han von Mirgen. Han said that he said he found all of these lost Vermeer paintings, but he was the one that painted them. He counterfeited them. And he took them to the art experts, and they declared them authentic. And they took the paintings, they hugged it, they hung them in museums, and people came from all over the world to see these paintings. He made millions and millions of dollars until one day it was discovered it was a fraud. It was a counterfeit. They were fakes. And I want to tell you, you don't set out to buy a fake painting, okay? Like you're not trying to go get a fraud and a counterfeit. No, it's because it's enticing. And that's why Paul says beware of fine sounding arguments. Not ugly sounding arguments or evil. No, fine sounding arguments. It's enticing. It looks true. It could be real. And that's what the enemy does. The enemy takes something that is real in God and then adds to it or takes away, and then it becomes a fraud. I'm so proud of our students right now because our students are in the midst of revival. And our students just went to a big camp and they came back and they are on fire. How many of y'all have enjoyed the testimonies and hearing about what's happening? Our students put your hands together for our students. Come on, God is doing something great. Testimony after testimony. 20 kids baptized on Wednesday. God is moving. And my daughter Kennedy, I'm just so proud of her. She's a senior this year. I can't believe it. And she's one of the students that God just so touched in this camp. And this is what she said in her testimony. She said, earthly treasure leaves you unsatisfied and leaving you needing more. But godly treasure leaves you satisfied and wanting more. How good is that? God's treasure is the thing that satisfies us, it is fulfilling. But the world leaves you empty, high, and dry, and always just, I gotta have more and more. And there's definitely red flags for the counterfeits in our life. And I want to give you a few statements. And these statements, well, these are red flags. If you hear them, might be a counterfeit. So here it goes. I found something nobody else has found. God showed me something the church has missed for 2,000 years. No one's ever discovered this. Probably a red flag. Another thing, I know what the Bible says, but this is just how I feel. I believe this about the Bible, but all of this I'm leaving out. People are picking and choosing red flag. You better be careful. And then how about you just follow your heart and discover your truth? That's all over bumper stickers and you know, mugs. It belongs in the garbage. Why? Because your heart is deceitful. And truth, friends, the truth has already been defined. It's been defined by the great mystery revealed. We got all we need in the Bible right here. And it breaks my heart because we train our students up, we get them in the ways of Almighty God, and then we send our students to secular universities to sit in a secular classroom to study under a secular professor, and they dismantle the faith of our youth one class at a time. Why? Because it's fine-sounding arguments. Just scroll on your phone. Fine-sounding arguments. You better be careful. Yeah, it's true. It's just brand new, right? With the phones. No, friends, from the very beginning, right after Jesus. The enemy started the counterfeits. There's a man by the name of Joseph Smith. And he said an angel gave him a whole nother testament added to the Bible. Muhammad said he received revelations that corrected what came before. Both, they claimed to have something the church or the world was missing all along. And millions and millions have been deceived by fine-sounding arguments. But Paul sets the record straight. Paul says this this gospel, it is not incomplete. This gospel does not need a sequel. The greatest revelation and mystery has been revealed, and his name is Jesus Christ. And all the riches are found in Jesus Christ. A new revelation, if it changes God or adds to God, it's not progress, it is a counterfeit. It's a counterfeit. And you might think, well, do I have to know every counterfeit? Like, do I have to study? Like, how am I gonna? No, what you do is you get to know the real thing, baby. Come on. You get to know Jesus. Secret Service, when they're searching for counterfeits, they don't spend time studying the counterfeit. They study the real thing, the currency, how it feels, how it listens. And I'm telling you this: get to know Jesus. Go deeper with Jesus. Because the deeper you go with Jesus, the more counterfeits are gonna be revealed. And I'm just gonna give you some basic ways how to go deeper with Jesus. And bottom line, read your Bible. Come on, somebody. Read your Bible. Come on. Let's read it. All the answers to life. Right here. The Bible says it this way: Joshua 1. Keep this book of the law always on your lips. Meditate on it day and night. So I'll tell you, read Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John. Read the words of Jesus and ask yourself this how does Jesus talk? How does Jesus get friends? How does Jesus respond when people criticize him? How does Jesus act in the tough times, the pressure times? How does Jesus live his life? Get to know Jesus in the Bible. Another thing is pray. The next 14 days, you say, I missed the first seven. Come on, let's let's finish strong these last 14 days. Pray. The Bible says this in 1 Thessalonians. Rejoice always and pray without seeking ceasing. So ask God, God, I love you. I need you. Reveal yourself to me. You can't get to know the nature of Jesus if you don't spend time with Jesus. Spend time with him in prayer. Talk to him just like he talked to me. Here's another thing. Spend time with other Christ followers. It's called community. Everyone say community. That's why that's our name. It's the greatest weapon against the enemy. Walk with other believers. The Bible says, do not forsake the gathering of the assembly of believers. Come to church, go to community groups, go eat lunch, go to ball games, sit around the table, do life with other believers. And here's another one. Be grateful. Live in gratitude for what God's done. Live in gratitude. The Bible says this in 1 Thessalonians: give thanks in all. Everyone say all. All circumstances. God, thank you for my family. God, thank you for my church. Thank you for another breath. Thank you that you are on the throne. You are above everything. We gotta be thankful. It gets us closer to Almighty God. And if you hear me talking today and you're like, well, are you against like knowledge and studying? No, I'm saying find the knowledge and the power in Jesus Christ. Go deep with Jesus because there's always more with Jesus Christ. You got to stay rooted. Everyone say rooted. And that's my final point. Stay rooted in the treasure. That's what Paul says. Paul says it this way in Colossians. He says, so then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live your lives in Him, rooted and built up in Him. Paul is saying the same Jesus that saved you, that same Jesus is going to grow you. That same Jesus is going to take care of you. You don't need another mystery. You just need to stay rooted in Jesus Christ. Christ. I want to speak a prayer over you right now. I want you to receive this prayer over your life. And as I speak this, I want you to see your life becoming these words. It's Ephesians 3, 16. In the name of Jesus, I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with the power through the Spirit in your inner name. So that Christ may dwell in your heart and faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power together with all the Lord's holy people, the ground, how wide and long and high, and deep is the love of Christ. And to know this love, this remote knowledge, that you may be filled with the measure of all the fullness of God and speak that of your life. Because we think we need something new. No, we need something new in the revelation of the Marigon. How wild, how big it goes on because one scripture ten years ago, and then ten years later the same scripture and you a totally different way. No. There's always more with Jesus. Everybody say more. There's always more love. There's always more forgiveness, more wisdom, more knowledge. That's why we say it is true. Always there's more in the knowledge and wisdom of Almighty God. So I just I want to tell you, please don't roll your eyes in Jesus. And the worship team can make your way out of the closet. And where thieves break in and steal. And where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also. Where's your heart? Where's your heart? Because that's where your treasure is, that's where you're digging. Um as I was preparing this message. Um I just kept having a vision. And this vision was like a huge field as far as I could see, and it was like a field of dreams. And the dreams were these digging sites, and it was like one digging site after another digging site as far as I could see, and around each site, it was like people, they were like tailgating, and they were excited because they're going after their dreams, their treasure. But every single dig site, every one of them ended up being nothing but a big empty hole. Nothing. And then I looked over and I saw one site, and there was one site among all the rest. And that one site, well, it had the real treasure, and it had dreams fulfilled, and it was the fulfillment of Almighty God. And it just struck me in my heart how many people spend their entire lives digging and pursuing what ends up to just be a big empty hole. It's nothing. And then it reminded me of my life. Some of y'all know my story. Before I surrendered to God, well, my field of dreams, it was it was success. I wanted to be successful at what I did. And when I had the best chance, I thought was baseball. So I started in baseball, and then after high school, I had a chance to go to so many different colleges, and I chose Pepperdine University in Malibu, California on the beach. Can I get an amen? Come on, it was it was four years having some fun. But after those four years, I did not get drafted, and I was disappointed. I went free agent and I got to play a year of Pro Bowl and the Rangers organization, the Spokane Indians. And then I played for the Washington Wild Things and Independent Ball. But after two years, my career was over. I was disappointed. And I realized what I had been digging in was nothing but an empty hole. It left me empty. And I found myself surrendering to Almighty God, and it was the greatest fulfillment of my life. But recently I had a new revelation of this because I was talking to one of my friends. And as I spoke to my friend, he told me that he has a son. And his son played college ball and had an incredible career. And his son did get drafted, and his son had all of these opportunities, but his son didn't want to go play. And I said, Hold up, what? I said, Why did he not? He said, Well, he didn't want that life. He didn't want to be on a bus all the time. The grimy nature of a baseball player, and it struck me what I valued so much for years, it wasn't valuable at all to somebody else. And it realized that, well, there's only one thing that's valuable to every single person that transforms all of us. The mystery revealed in Jesus. And I just want to ask you, what's your field of dreams? Maybe it's not baseball, maybe it's success, maybe it's your family, maybe it's a big house or a car. Maybe it's you just want to build that business. Can I tell you none of those things are bad? In fact, I would say those are blessings. Everything I've said are blessings. But look and listen, blessings make terrible saviors. Blessings make horrible, horrible saviors. The Bible says this in Proverbs. The Bible says the blessing of the Lord brings wealth. It's not what you do, the blessing of the Lord brings wealth. It's what God does. So here's the deal: anytime we get the order out of place and we place the blessing above Almighty God, the blessing becomes a stronghold every single time in your life. And I've sat with people, I've counseled countless people, and the story's always the same. Man, if I could if I could just get the house, the million-dollar house in Southern Trace or the $5 million house in Benton. If I could just have success. And here's the thing, I've seen it. Well, I'm just gonna leave what God's doing in pursuit of this blessing. And guess what? They get it, they get the house, they get the success. But along the way, they lose their mares, they lose their family, and now they're fighting over the house. What was a blessing now becomes a curse. They do anything to get their family back, their spouse back. Why? Because blessings make terrible saviors. How many of y'all have ever heard of Dion Sanders? Anybody in this room? Deion Sanders? Okay. Dion is one of the greatest athletes to ever live. Played in the MLB, played in the NFL, the only guy in history to play in a Super Bowl and a World Series. This guy's unbelievable. And he tells a story. This is his testimony that I saw. He tells a story that after all of the Super Bowl rings, after all the success, after all the fame and riches and the houses and the cars, he reached the peak. He found himself in his car one night, so empty, so unfulfilled, so depressed that he drove his car off of a cliff trying to end it all. And he survived through it. And he tells a story like this in that moment, he had his surrender moment with God, realizing this world and what it has to offer is empty. But he found fulfillment in the great mystery revealed. His name is Jesus Christ. It's fulfilling, it transforms us. What field of dreams are you digging in? Where's your heart? So let's end with the words of Jesus. Jesus says it best. Matthew 13, 44. Jesus says, again, the kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field, which a man found and hid, and for joy over it, he goes and sells all that he has, and he buys that field. I love that he says, for the joy. Everyone say joy. For the joy. He's not talking about what he has to give up, he's talking about the joy of what he found. He found the greatest treasure, the mystery revealed, the one thing that fulfills. And I'm telling you, stop with the counterfeits. Stop digging in places. It's gonna leave you empty. Stop saying just one more season and then maybe I can do this. No, we've got to root in Jesus Christ. Dig in the church of Jesus Christ in community groups, in the Bible, in prayer. And I'm telling you this: God will give us his power like never before. Put your hands together for Jesus right now if you love him. Stand with me. I want to pray for you. Stand with me. Thank you, Jesus. As I've been preaching, I've been in my spirit praying that God would reveal some counterfeits in your life in the name of Jesus. And I pray right now that he's doing that. And I pray that he's revealing other ways you can root in him, you can dig deeper in Jesus. But before we do this, I want to give you the opportunity to find the treasure for yourself. Bow your head. Bow your head. If today, if you say, I'm not sure Jesus is Lord of my life, I've never given Jesus my life, or I want to rededicate my life to Jesus. Or you just say, If I died today, I don't know where I'm spending eternity. Say, I want to make sure, I want to give my life to Jesus. Every head bowed. Come on, this is very, this is very important. Don't mess around with this. So if you say, I want to give Jesus my life, I want to make sure, raise your hand so I can see it and put it back down. Right now, raise your hand and put it back down. If you want to give Jesus your life, thank you, Jesus. Raise your hand and put it back down.

Everyone repeat after me. Jesus, come into my life. I believe in you, Jesus. Thank you, you're the mystery revealed. Thank you for your treasure. I want to connect with you. I want to stay rooted in you. I love you, Jesus. Transform me. Give me your power. Give me your strength. God, I pray for every man, woman, and child in this place. In the name of Jesus, Holy Spirit, do what none of us can do. Holy Spirit, fill us and lead us and guide us. Holy Spirit, fall on this room. We want your power. We want your power. And God, I pray you reveal right now. In the name of Jesus, God, I pray you will reveal the counterfeits in our life. God, where we've been even putting blessings above you. We've been digging in places we shouldn't be. Lord, I pray that we will root in you. We will dig deep with you and you will reveal treasure beyond what we could ever imagine. Jesus, you are more than enough. Say that. Say, Jesus, you're more than enough. Say it again. Jesus, you're more than enough. God, you're more than enough. And we declare you to be everything that we need. God, I speak that Shreebore Community Church is a church and a people. God, we depend on you, that you're number one in everything. We exalt the name of Jesus. And God, as we connect to you, thank you, Lord, that you are with us every step of the way. Come on, if you believe that today, give God some praise. Come on, give God some praise. Let's worship together. Come on, give God some praise right now. Come on.

You know, sometimes I think about our pastors. I think about Denny Rodney. He's so understated, and you know, you'd never know he'd ever done anything in his life if you're around him. He just is always going to be about whoever he's with. And I watched him preach here today, and I thought, well, here's a guy that in four years graduated from Pepperdine University. Only three baseball players did that. Then he got a master's in ministry, then he got a doctorate in ministry. And yet God's given him a gift to preach the word of God so powerfully and so simply that everybody in the house gets it. And this message, especially so powerful with such authority, but so simple. And here it is, folks. The mystery that we're looking for, the treasure, is in Jesus. And if you know you've found him as your savior, would you just as a testimony to him step out of your seat and come and stand here for our final prayer? Would you do that just as a testimony that I'm glad I found you, Jesus? I'm glad I discovered the treasure. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. Thank you, Jesus.

I'm so moved. Because it doesn't matter how long you've lived for the Lord, or even if you've been in full-time ministry as I have for almost 60 years, you can get away from the simplicity of trusting the Lord, can't you? I don't know if you feel that way, but I I can stray from that to this very day and start depending on conversations and methods, ways and means and dreams and schemes. And suddenly I look around and my life is empty again. I don't want to do that anymore, do you? I want this message to sink deeply in me, and I don't want to know Jesus as a philosophy of life. But I really want to walk with him, don't you? And I know, Teddy, that after all these years, there's still more for me. I know there is. And I'm crying out for it. Hallelujah. Say these words with me. The word prayer. Gratitude. What are the next two? Commun. Oh, yes, community. Hanging with people that are close to Jesus. And then being rooted. Wow. These days I can't hardly remember anything off the top of my head, I'm telling you. But I remember that. I can go with that. Hallelujah. You're ready to simplify it? I'm going to pray for us right now, okay? And then I'm going to bless you. And you're going to leave here and you're going to go, you're going to go tear that Bible up. Amen. And you're also going to seek the Lord in prayer. Did you see where he said pray without ceasing? People have often asked me about my prayer life. That describes my prayer life. It was the testimony of my father. He prayed like that and he passed it on to me. All day long I'm praying. All day long. The other day I was with some people and I forgot. And I prayed in tongues. And they said, What was that? And I said, Oh, nothing. Because you need to pray without ceasing. Hallelujah. Pray without ceasing. Talk to the Lord all day long.

Father, I pray right now for your people. I pray that all of us in this sanctuary today will get a new grasp on what it means to dig for the treasure that is hidden in the mystery of Christ. Lord, we love your word. I want you right now to lift your hands and I want you to say, living word, I love you. The word was made flesh and dwelt among us. I want to behold your glory in your word. The glory of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth. Let me become addicted to Scripture that I can't get enough. Do this, Holy Spirit. Help me to pray without ceasing. I pray that you will allow my angels to begin to break through so that I know heaven is with me 24-7. And I pray that I will so live in your presence that it will become glorious to me. A way of life to pray without ceasing. Thank you, Lord, for my brothers and sisters. Give me people I can run with and walk with on this narrow way. People that will inspire me. Now just lift your hands for a moment and let's let that settle. Because God answers prayer and he especially answers corporate prayer. When we pray like this, he finds his bride irresistible. There is going to be renewal and revival and restoration that is going to happen in this room right now, instantaneously. It is going to happen. It's going to happen for you. They will always be your son, always be your daughter, and we rebuke that temptation to be guilty and condemned. Lord, we are free because the word of God has set us free. And as we repent, we claim that our record is completely clear in the name of Jesus, and we're as close to you as we have ever been. Now thank God because that's the truth. Hallelujah. Hallelujah. The Lord spoke to me on the front row, and this was for you. I didn't know why he said this to me, but he spoke this in my heart. He said, Every man, even my men that I judged in the word of God, had not repented. Go and look at it for yourself. There is no post-repentance judgment in the word of God. Let me tell you, you repent. God cannot resist pulling you to himself and totally absolving you of your past. And you need to give Lord glory for that. In Jesus' name. Hallelujah.
