Draft is coming up. Hope in April will turn into disappointment by October. But for now enjoy the prospects your team drafts. The Dork and Dude are here with a preview of sleepers, likely busts and previews of our favorite teams.

SPEAKER_01

I've heard that. I know I've heard it. I I don't know. It takes a thief. It takes a thief. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

It was Robert Wagner.

SPEAKER_01

Robert Wagner, yeah, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. Yeah, he was my hero, man. I I loved that show. I used to walk around with a little uh uh burglar uh tool kit and shit.

SPEAKER_01

You're breaking into the neighborhood house.

SPEAKER_02

No, I'd usually break into the bedroom where my cousins were and and surprise them at my ability to pick lock. All right, welcome to Fantasy Football with the Dork and the Dude. This is our pre-draft episode, and we want to thank all of you that are watching. Our our uh our numbers are going up, Dor.

SPEAKER_01

I saw that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, our numbers are up.

SPEAKER_01

We're just getting out.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, our numbers are going up. We want to thank you in uh Frankfurt, Germany. You are our number one listener.

SPEAKER_01

You're our favorite listener.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he tunes in every episode. Now I'm hoping, like I said, it's not a Russian bot or something, but you know.

SPEAKER_01

Right, but it we'll take we'll take it if it increases the viewership. For damn sure. Okay. We are gonna talk draft. Um we'll go by down the fantasy positions and other sleepers. We'll each do you have a 49ers report. I do. Uh we got a Chicago Bob Bears report, I'm doing a Seahawks report.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I asked uh uh uh Hawaii Tom if he would do a Detroit Lions report, but he doesn't follow him in the world.

SPEAKER_01

He doesn't follow him enough?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's been over there over 10 years now, and by that time. Really? Wow. By that time, uh, you know, you're probably not into football because it's not a thing over there. Right. All right. Okay, Dork, you uh you know college football better than I do, for damn sure. And so why don't you kick it off and I'll respond?

SPEAKER_01

Okay, um first I'll I'll go through the quarterbacks. It is not a good class. You got Mendoza at the top. Yeah, Ty Simpson. And I think you have to, you know, obviously I think the Raiders with a quarterback need have to take him. I I agree. Um Mighty Bust, yeah. I mean, he was so so he was okay, but not great before his big breakout this past year. Right. Um, and I I do worry about one-year wonders, but he was also very good. Yeah, he was.

SPEAKER_02

And um he won everything you can win.

SPEAKER_01

Quarterback is uh so important that you you absolutely have to take him. And you know, we're all pulling for him.

SPEAKER_02

New head coach, offensive minded, they'd be dumb not to. Exactly. Unless someone offered him like, you know, three or four first rounders or some shit. They might they might bail on him. But no, I think he's going number one, as does everyone else.

SPEAKER_01

So after that, the two after that are Ty Simpson from Alabama, and then Garrett Nussmeyer from uh LSU. Uh-huh. And they're both kind of the same. They're smallish. Right. They don't run real well.

SPEAKER_02

What, six feet tall?

SPEAKER_01

Um, I think about like six one, six two, two ten. Okay. Which is it's big enough, but um, they're not the big six sturdy six five dude back there. I hear they're not Josh Allen. And they're not runners. And in Simpson's case, he's just had one urine. That's a big red flag. Sure. That's like a Mitch Trubisky size red flag. Big time. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

Or a Trey Lance.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, Trey Lance is another one. Just one great urine. Exactly. That's another good example. And um Nussmeyer, he just hasn't put up great numbers. They say he has a lot of Moxie. Oh, I like Moxie.

SPEAKER_02

You know, we like Moxie here at Dork and Dude.

SPEAKER_01

I I wouldn't blame anyone for going with either of them because Simpson had some good games, but he also declined as the year went on. He was injured, and it's possible the scouts caught up to him too. Uh-huh. Um, I do have some sleepers, though, that I like. Okay. I I wouldn't say draft them anywhere before round five or six.

SPEAKER_02

Sure, but uh might develop into a decent journeyman backup if exactly.

SPEAKER_01

Or you might you might strike gold, who knows?

SPEAKER_02

Uh a la Brock Purdy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um there's Drew Aller from Penn State. Yep. He had a bad year this year, but going into the year, he was considered maybe a top ten pick. Right. Um Talon Green from Arkansas. He's big, he's athletic, he's a good runner. He's not very accurate, but you could have said all the same stuff about Josh Allen. Yeah, but Allen was the exception. Uh Allen was the exception, and the pros were on to accurate.

SPEAKER_02

People say that, you know, if you're inaccurate coming out of college, the odds are you're gonna remain inaccurate.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly, exactly. But as a sixth or seventh round pick, and I'll just a big athlete like that is worth a shot. Sure. And like I said, the pros, Allen was a top ten pick. Uh-huh. He wasn't a guy, a big raw guy they took in the third round. Sure. People saw something there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they did.

SPEAKER_01

Um, Cole Payton from is it, I think it's North Dakota State. Okay. Oh, yeah, yeah. Uh, good, real good Division II stats. Uh-huh. And he's been consistent. And North Dakota State's been producing some players. Yeah, they they have. And then I got, oh, and uh, I got five old, I call them old guys. They're between 24 something to 25 in age, because they've been around a while. Uh-huh. Okay, but uh Haynes King from Georgia Tech. He had 15 rushing TDs. He completed 70% of his passes with decent other numbers. Uh-huh. But he's 25. Uh-huh. Plays for the yellow jackets? The uh, yeah, the yellow jackets, or the rambling wreck if you prefer. There's Joey Aguilar from Tennessee. Another guy who's a good runner with a high completion percentage. Uh Diego Pavia from Vanderbilt, smallish, but finished second in the Heisman voting. You're digging deep going with Vandy. I know, but he, you know, this guy was a star this year. Okay. Um, amazing numbers again, at or over 70% completion percentage, and he is a good scrambler runner. Okay. But he may not be six feet tall.

SPEAKER_02

So 5'11 and a half.

SPEAKER_01

Something like that. Uh-huh. And then Joey Fognano from Yukon. 28 to 1 T D to interception ratio. Nice. 69% completion percentage. And he has good size. He's like 6'4, 220.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So these are guys, I mean, if you want to take a flyer late round, I think these are guys are worth it. And I'll also throw Carson Beck out there.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, Beck was like number five on Power.

SPEAKER_01

And he he's been a winner. He got to a championship game with Miami. He won at least one with Georgia, I believe. Uh-huh. And um, he's just been a good quarterback, a good, a very good college quarterback, good size. Don't take a shot on him. So someone should take a shot on him. You just never know with the quarterbacks.

SPEAKER_02

I hear you.

SPEAKER_01

And those are the guys I like. All right. Well done, Dorick. Okay. Running back? Running running backs. Uh now, Jeremiah Love, I tend to agree with those who say all that. Sure. I just don't like drafting a running back if you're a bad team that early. Yeah. If he got the good line, sure. Go for it.

SPEAKER_02

Well, the Raiders made that mistake last year.

SPEAKER_01

With Genty.

SPEAKER_02

This year it could pay off.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And and same thing with Love. He might struggle in his first season. You're not going to the fucking Super Bowl. Draft a dude, develop him, work work, work him into the offense where he's like a CMC dude.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And uh see what happens.

SPEAKER_01

Um, I I still would rather take a uh a lineman. Yeah, not me. And and this draft is short on the what they call the blue chip players. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And he's a blue chip player.

SPEAKER_01

He is a blue chip player. So you're getting a stud. He can he can run, he's a runner, blocker, receiver. Yeah. Um, he can do it all. And if you use him right, he could he could be quite valuable.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, and if uh, you know, he uh he's probably not gonna become Marshall Falk, but let's say he became pretty close to uh Marshall Falk. It looks like a genius pick of four. It does.

SPEAKER_01

Uh and we shall see, but I'm I'm gonna go on record as saying I think that's too early for a running back.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, Dort, before we continue, I uh I can't uh uh be remiss and not have you tell your epic uh Mel Kuiper story be uh because it is draft season and you had actual uh con conversations with Mel. Uh uh tell me the whole story. How did it happen? Uh well and how did it unfold?

SPEAKER_01

Way back in um Chicago in the 80s, uh or the Chicago land, I know how people who actually live in Chicago hate it when someone who lives close but outside of Chicago say they're from Chicago. Sure. You know, even though they're in the suburbs. If if if if if I said, you know, I was living in Mount Prospect, no one would know where the hell I was, you know, talking about. Anyways, um the sho the Greater Chicagoland area, uh they had a uh radio show called Copic on Sports, you know, Czech Copic, local loudmouth, you know. He was sort of a he he had a daily hour-long sports show, I want to say. And it was a good listen for a sports fan. I mean, he was kind of a loudmouth, but uh that didn't bother you. He was entertaining. Uh-huh. Yeah. And um, anyways, he had Mel on once, and I took down the number Mel gave him at the end saying, This is how you can get my draft preview. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

And again. What about approximately what year was that?

SPEAKER_01

Uh let's say 84, 85, okay, maybe. All right. And I don't know if he was on ESPN at the time or not. That's 40 years ago. Yeah, 40 plus years ago. Wow. And so I call, I call I just call the number, and you know, you expect an operator, but I recognize the voice, and it's Mel himself. I love it. I love that he, you know, he he's just uh, you know, he he did the draft analysis, he hustled, he, you know, made himself into an icon. Yeah, you did. And um, you know, we we've got to be. So what did Mel sell? Oh, I I forget, just small talk, and he he wanted to know how I heard about him. Uh-huh. And I told him, I, you know, I live in Chicago area, and I heard you on Chet Kopic's show. Capacon's.

SPEAKER_02

Because he's probably thinking to himself, I've only gotten six calls. Yeah, yeah. This dude's number seven.

SPEAKER_01

I gotta find out how the hell he heard about me. But again, being being a sports geek back in the day, I I just ate up all the news wasn't like everywhere like it is now. I think there was no NFL network. ESPN. ESPN was just getting started. Yeah, you're reading. You had to go out and get your own stuff, you know? Yeah. And um, you know, it was a real good preview. He had all the players listed down the rest of the. Oh, it was back then, maybe 795. Sweet. Like that. Uh you know, and I wish I still had it. That'd just be a fun little thing to look back at.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I said to you, man. That if you still had that, uh that's a collectible now that he is an icon. Right. And then, anyways, there might not be any of those from 1985 in fucking circulation.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and I could have the years wrong, but you know. Whatever year. Whatever, yeah. And then next thing I know, he's um I'm hearing Bill Tobin on uh a draft show saying, Who the hell is Mel Kuyper? And you're going, I know that guy. I know, that's my good buddy. Uh and when he hears, he when he hears about the dork, he says, Who? Uh I hear you.

SPEAKER_02

But anyway, great story, Dork. Thanks again for recounting.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Okay, now let's uh let's continue with the running backs. Um now the second rated one is Judarian Price, and he's the other Notre Dame back. Yep. And as a Bears fan, I'm a little leery of the second back. Uh yeah, but he's got less work on his body and less wear and tear. When Bijan came out, we drafted Roshan Johnson, who was his backup. Only because you couldn't have drafted Bijan. Right. But he he came in the third or fourth round, and he was every people liked him. Yeah. And he just didn't get it done. Now, is he still with the club? I think he is. Uh probably not after this one. Much longer. I think he he might be a decent special teamer, though. So they might keep him working. That's important. You need those guys. And I also heard that Price is a f has fumbling issues that he has to fix. Oh, they'll fix it. It doesn't mean he isn't talented. Uh-huh. But here are the guys I I like, the other runners. There's two from Penn State, Nicholas Stapleton and Caitlin Allen. And I I like both of them. And this harkens back to the uh 1972 draft, dude.

SPEAKER_00

Uh huh.

SPEAKER_01

When um the two the two running backs out of Penn State were Franco Harris and Light L. Mitchell. And they were they became the two best running backs in that draft. Yeah, they did. So 44 years or 54 years later, history repeats itself.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, but previously you were saying don't take the second running back.

SPEAKER_01

You know, who knows? Sometimes you're contradicting yourself, it took 54 years to work out.

SPEAKER_02

No, if they're two good backs and they're fairly close in talent, uh, someone's gonna take a flyer.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. Um, anyways, two good all-around backs are Emmett Johnson from Nebraska and Jonah Coleman from Washington. Okay. Uh good runners, good blockers, decent receivers. Um, those are two guys, I'd say third, fourth round, probably real good value. Okay. Gadget guys. Two of them. Jamari Taylor from uh Virginia. These are smallish guys, but speedy. Sure. Probably return dudes. And uh Noah Whittington from Oregon. And they're both, again, good blockers and receivers. Oh. So these are these are guys to look at late. And then just some others, Jam Miller from Alabama. Didn't have great numbers, but he had last year, and the offensive line had its issues in Bama. Mike Washington from Arkansas, who I think is kind of overrated, and then Seth McGowan from Kentucky.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

So um those those are the guys I like. Sweet. Now let's go to wide receivers. Um so Carnell Tate from Ohio State is the top-rated one. He is. And my mood with Ohio State receivers is just draft them. Yeah, just JSN, Abuka. Just like LSU. LSU, yeah. I mean just draft the guy. Just draft the guy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they develop them very well.

SPEAKER_01

I like uh Makai Lemon from USC quite a bit. He's just a slot guy, I guess.

SPEAKER_02

But since I got the Rams to win the Super Bowl, I hope they they uh he falls to them in the first round.

SPEAKER_01

In Mel's uh Mel's mock, he he gave the Rams uh lemon. Yeah, because like Puka's becoming a a basket case. Yeah, uh he seems to be working on himself though.

SPEAKER_02

But that's good, and and everybody deserves uh, you know, the benefit of a doubt.

SPEAKER_01

And and uh unless you commit a felony like James Pierce, but yeah, well, you gotta go through the legal system for that. But uh they give up a first-round draft pick for that guy.

SPEAKER_02

Uh that's what bad organizations do. Yes, it is. Those Atlanta Falcons, man.

SPEAKER_01

Anyways, and the rest um Jordan Tyson from Arizona, oft injured, but you know, very talented, I guess. So if you think he can get healthy, that's another one. But the other ones I like in order. Uh Skylar Bell from Yukon, I think, is a good sleeper. Uh Zachariah Branch from Georgia, kind of short, but very speedy.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I I heard uh some analysis on, I think it was him uh today. Um isn't there two Alabama wide receivers that are probably gonna go in the draft?

SPEAKER_01

Um I got this, he's from Georgia.

SPEAKER_02

I mean, George, uh yeah, maybe it was Alabama. Never mind, Dorot.

SPEAKER_01

Alabama has a guy named Jeremy Bernard who could be another I think that's the guy I'm thinking of.

SPEAKER_02

And they said that like his average uh uh route run was like 3.5 yards or something.

SPEAKER_01

And he um And he's he's just kind of a possession guy. He's a possession guy, but he's also a runner. They use him out of the backfield. Okay, you know, there's a potential Debo Samuel there.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Um also the two Indiana guys I like, um, Omar Cooper and Elijah Surat. Uh-huh. Um Denzel Boston from Washington, Chris Bell from Louisville, Chris Brazell from Tennessee, big guy, big athletic guy. Pounder. And then uh Casey Concepcion, who uh they like more than I do, uh from AM. And those are the guys.

SPEAKER_02

Uh Concepcion, a lot of people are saying he could go in the late first round.

SPEAKER_01

He could, yeah. But a lot of people like him. I'm not wild about him. Oh, why not? I don't know why. I didn't catch it. If I remember right, I I kind of go, did you catch a big percentage of your team's passes? And, you know, there's some exceptions, like Ohio State, obviously, where there's receivers, great receivers everywhere. Right. But um he didn't, I I assume. Okay. And it could have been a down year. All right. But it's a good year for receivers.

SPEAKER_02

It's a very good year for receivers.

SPEAKER_01

You know, it's it's like there's gonna be good ones in the third or fourth round, and that's how you play the draft is go to the strong positions.

SPEAKER_02

And they'll be one of those fourth rounders that'll pop.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. Tight ends, Doris? Tight ends. Um Kenyon Sadiq from Oregon. Number one tight end. Number one. He's young, he's athletic, he's fast. His um he was the leading receiver on a very good offense. And to me, I think that's impressive.

SPEAKER_02

And they say his uh football IQ's off the job.

SPEAKER_01

Yes, they say he interviewed, you know, well, he and this is this is a guy who's barely 21, I think. So, you know, they're talking about Kansas City possibly taking him at nine.

SPEAKER_02

He could be a top ten guy.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. Um the next ones I like are Max Clare from Ohio State. Okay, Eli Stowers from Vandy, who everyone likes. Right. And I also like this guy who's rated a little bit lower from Houston, Tanner Cosiel. Okay. All this guy does is put up big uh reception numbers. Plus he's 6'7, 250. And they talk about um, well, that he's got some issues. They they worry about his toughness. Right. I don't know, if the guy catches balls like he does, right, I'm I'm taking a chance on him at some point. And he's that big red zone guy, um yeah, and just some other names. Dalen Bentley from Utah, Sam Rush from Stanford, Justin Joly from NC State, Michael Tripp from Baylor, and then there's a guy from Texas AM, Nate Borkercher, I think it's pronounced. Okay. Probably not, but that's close, who is the best blocker of the bunch, from what I understand. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And um and they're looking at blocking uh tight ends more because they're running those 12.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and not not only are the are the blockers, you know, a good thing, because you know, more blocking. That's good. Yeah, for the quarterback and the running back. They're good check down guys, too, for blocking tight ends. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

So yeah, because they're blocking and then they just float out in the flat.

SPEAKER_01

You know, the quarterback may yell uh Omaha and the tight end just fli, you know. Yeah, like I'm under pressure, someone get free.

SPEAKER_02

And tight ends have never been more important.

SPEAKER_01

Right, right. I mean, there's a lot of teams. The Bears are one with two good tight ends. Uh-huh. And most will be.

SPEAKER_02

Most teams want two. Although I heard that uh it's not a rumor or anything, but someone was speculating that uh Comet could be moved on draft day. He could be. He could be. We'll see. Because if some teams uh uh targeting some tight end, they miss out on the dude, they might uh he might be a default position.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And um but Loveland's the man. Loveland is the man. And I don't see anyone out there that's Loveland, Bowers, or Warren level. I think uh Sadiq has that potential. Sure. But he's young, and yeah, I don't expect him to come in like those three did. Right. Okay, should we get on with our reports? Yeah. Should I do Chicago Bobs first here?

SPEAKER_02

Um, sure. Let me take a look at it. And then I'm doing the 49ers, and then the Dork is doing Seattle, which should be pretty quick because they're gonna have what, four fucking pecks?

SPEAKER_01

They have one, two, three, and seven. Uh-huh. Okay, here's from Bob. Hey Dork and dude, happy NFL New Year to you. The 2026 NFL offseason has been a relatively quiet one for the Bears. Last year they broke the bank to add talent in the trenches on both sides of the ball. The Bears created some necessary cap space by trading wide receiver DJ Moore and cutting linebacker Tremaine Edmonds. They used that savings to acquire safety Kobe Bryant from the Seahawks, linebacker Devin Bush from the Brown. Defensive tackle Neval Neville Gallimore from the Colts, and wide receiver kick returner Khalif Raymond from the Lions.

SPEAKER_02

I thought that was a good pickup.

SPEAKER_01

I think so, yeah. They also picked up center Garrett Bradbury after Drew Dahlman suddenly retired.

SPEAKER_02

Mm-hmm. Dahlman's been around a long time.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. With the draft, the experts say is deep but short on blue chip talent. It's anyone's guess what the Bears will do. And here's their top roster need. Defensive line. They need to get younger and cheaper. Best edge or DT available. Safety, they sit still in need because they lost both starters, Byard and Brisker. Byard was awesome. He was. I think he led the league in interceptions. He did. Linebacker T. 10 or something? Yeah. TJ Edwards is coming off a broken leg and could be slower than ever. OT. They are running it back with Theo Benedict, Braxton Jones, former first rounder Jarek Willis, picked by the Browns. And if a tackle they love falls into their lap, will they pull the trigger? I think yes. Center, because Garrett Bradbury is a stopgap. And I would add just interior offensive line. In general. Because Tooney is getting older, as good as he is. Yep. And Jonan Jackson, who may have who may have been their best offensive lineman last year, is um he has been inconsistent. Uh-huh. Cornerback, I'm not convinced that Jalen Johnson will ever get back to the player he was, and you can never have enough good cover guys. Tight end, Ben Johnson uses two tight end sets often. They will need depth. And then wide receiver to cover for the loss of Moore and Zacchaeus. And their picks. Here's Bob's mock draft.

SPEAKER_02

But just real quickly, Zacchaeus never did shit.

SPEAKER_01

He was decent, but he's a third or fourth receiver at best. Something like that, yeah. Um, you know, good player, but not one you need to resign it. Definitely.

SPEAKER_02

He's a death guy.

SPEAKER_01

Okay, round one, he has him taking safety, and they have the 25th overall pick. Emmanuel McNeil Warren, safety from Toledo.

SPEAKER_02

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

He's kind of a big stud. I don't know if it'll last that long, but uh it's a good thought.

SPEAKER_02

So offensive line.

SPEAKER_01

Uh safety. Oh, safety. Yeah. That's a need. Dominique Orange, defensive interior from uh Iowa State. They need some uh pass rush. I'm just gonna say, I like the idea for when they wear their alternate orange jerseys to have a guy with the name Orange on the back.

SPEAKER_02

Why not? It's just kind of cool. I don't know that it's worth a second third round pick.

SPEAKER_01

Round two is Edge, the second round two pick. Yeah. And he has Derek Moore from Michigan. And I do like that one. I think I think there are a lot of good edge rushers. Yeah, they say it's deep in round round two you could get, and among them, I'll mention them, round two and three, Danny Dennis Sutton from Penn State, Joshua Joseph's Tennessee, Mason Thompson from Oklahoma. And this guy's actually a linebacker, but Jacob Rodriguez is uh could be an impact player from Texas Tech. Cool. Okay, Bob wraps it up. Oh, and then round four, Will Kakmerick, tight end Ohio State. Okay. I like the other Ohio State tight end. Uh, what did I say his name was? Max Clare.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Um, but again, Ohio State receivers, I'm all in. Sure. Oh, and round three center, Sam Hecht uh from Kansas State, which is a fine pick. Okay, so he goes on. The D-linemen projected to be available at 25, don't thrill me. So I filled the glaring need at safety. Dominique Orange would fit nicely as a run stuffer in the Bears DT rotation. Moore might be a little bit of a reach at number 60, but he has good productivity and the length they like. I also think he might be a Ben Johnson guy or a Dennis Allen guy. And then he's taking a center and a blocking tight end.

SPEAKER_02

Uh-huh. Okay, I like it.

SPEAKER_01

And I agree with this last comment. It would not surprise me if the Bears traded out of the first down round to take more swings at premium positions like cornerback, left tackle, and wide receiver. And then he mentions Texas Tech linebacker Jake Rodriguez is a player the Bears like and could be available in the mid-30s.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, if somebody wants to move up and and they can uh uh get another second round pick or something, what the fuck?

SPEAKER_01

They can scoop up another premium pick, I agree. But that's easier said than done.

SPEAKER_02

Sure. But you never know. Somebody you're he they're setting, what, 25?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh yeah, somebody wants to move up for uh Simpson.

SPEAKER_01

That's a good thing.

SPEAKER_02

Simpson, yeah.

SPEAKER_01

You know, they got Arizona, the Jets. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

Or somebody's in love with some dude. And it could happen. They don't think you'll get back to him and they want him.

SPEAKER_01

My uh I don't think it's gonna happen, but most rankings I see, he's rated in the late 20s. But I would really love that tackle, uh, Caden Proctor from Alabama. A lot of people are talking him up. Um, you know, they say he could be amazing at left tackle. And if you look at his PFF grade, it looks like he was, but they also say he's inconsistent and struggles with weight. But they also say even if he can't handle left tackle, he'll be stellar inside offensive line. Sure. You know, and run stopper. If this guy falls in their laps, they gotta take him. Uh I hear you. So that's my feeling on the Bears.

SPEAKER_02

Well, didn't he close out with some credits?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, yeah. He gets his coverage from The Athletic, the Chicago Sun Times, and 670 Sports Radio, the score.

SPEAKER_02

I hope he didn't get it from Diana Rossini. I don't think she's gonna be doing any updates here.

SPEAKER_01

I don't think so, no. Although make fun of it. It sounds like there's nothing to that, though. What do you mean? Oh, that story.

SPEAKER_02

And maybe there is she wouldn't resign if it wasn't true.

SPEAKER_01

Well, her contract was up in a month, so Oh, was it? Yeah. Oh, she'll get on with somebody else.

SPEAKER_02

But she'll probably be taking a little break, I'm thinking.

SPEAKER_01

Could be. Uh but uh if it happened, whatever. I'm not too worried about it. Well, I'm not some kind of moralist or anything. But it's not like that, it's not like she was uh or Rabel was filming practices of other teams with his uh with people in NFL films gear.

SPEAKER_02

I hear you know but you know, whenever there's shit like this, uh it there's gonna be some fallout for the coach.

SPEAKER_01

Oh yeah. Oh yeah. Well, he's you know, the face of the franchise, and you can't have someone who's playing around on his wife. Yeah, and and so he's ducking out of press conferences. Nor can you have a reporter who's supposed to be impartial in their coverage, uh having a relationship with with a coach, head coach.

SPEAKER_02

Anyway, uh okay, I'm ready. I'm I'm ready for my 49ers report. Let's hear it. All right. Okay, and free agency, uh the 49ers made a few moves. They picked uh biggest being picking up Mike Evans. They also signed uh Christian Kurt to a one-year deal, and they picked up defensive uh tackle. Osa Odom Wagma.

SPEAKER_01

Sounds like a dude.

SPEAKER_02

I'm uh you can't help me pronouncing football players' names. No, no, damn wrong. Okay, their needs are edge rushers. Uh Bosaun and uh uh the rookie last year, Mikhail Williams, both coming off injuries. Uh Williamson ACL, he probably should be fine uh uh because it happened early. But uh that's a definite need. Uh wide receiver, of course. Uh uh they're probably gonna lose Jennings. Uh Ricky Pursaw's injury prone.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh and uh Mike Evans, what's he got? A couple more years. Yeah. So they need to they need to get younger there and they need to get uh people that can stay on the field. Offensive linemen, they lost two starters. Uh they need safety and cornerback help.

SPEAKER_01

And have they uh let me interrupt, have they signed, have they re signed Trent Williams? No. No, not yet. They're working on it. They're working on it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, I think uh knowing the niners that they will ultimately do that.

SPEAKER_01

They will get it done at 10.

SPEAKER_02

But it's gonna be a probably a one-year deal. Uh and he he's probably gonna want two or something. Yeah. What is he, 34? Oh, I think he's older than that. Okay. Uh uh anyway, tight end, Kittle's aging, he's starting to show uh being injury prone. Uh, and then running back, CMC's getting up there, and really the only person of of interest they got is Jordan James. Uh, okay. So they're they're going to be grabbing some running back at some point in the draft. And it's a good class, so it is, so they might as well capitalize.

SPEAKER_01

Uh Trent Williams is 37, by the way.

SPEAKER_02

37, yeah, come on.

SPEAKER_01

Uh 38 on July 19th. So it'll be 38 before the season.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so I think they just want to lock him up for one more year. Yep. Uh, they'll probably kick him some extra dough. Uh okay, so round one, everybody and his brothers predicting the 49ers should take offensive uh tackle Caleb uh Lemou from Utah. He allowed no sacks last year.

SPEAKER_01

Now, is he the guy who can play anywhere on the line? Even offered, said, hey, I can play center for you.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh uh uh I think he might be. Yeah. I think he's uh uh he's probably one of those big ass Samoan dudes. Yeah, right?

SPEAKER_01

Oh Utah, Utah collects those cats. They do.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so does like Stanford and USC. Uh and those cats are tough.

SPEAKER_01

They are. Uh the low center of gravity. They're stout.

SPEAKER_02

And they're huge, and they're big, big boned. I remember when I was in the army in in Hawaii, I served with a lot of Samoans.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And those cats are huge.

SPEAKER_01

And good rugby players.

SPEAKER_02

Big time. Okay, so that's what they pick. Uh uh let's see here. Uh he's also considered a little bit of a project.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh round two, uh, they need help at edge. Uh I got him going, Gabe Jankis from uh Jankis from Illinois.

SPEAKER_01

You know, he's he's one of those guys, when I hear about him, uh, they kind of talk about him like this guy could be special. Uh-huh. You know, even though he's radar.

SPEAKER_02

They usually scout and draft well.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, they do.

SPEAKER_02

And apparently this guy's on their radar. Yeah. Their radar. Uh that's pick number 58. Uh round one, by the way. Uh, they had they have pick number 27.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And then all they've got left is two fourth rounders. Uh I mean, four fourth rounders. First is number 127. Uh, I got them going offensive lineman. Uh Trey uh uh Zoon, the third from Texas AM. Uh at number 133, uh, they need a safety. They're going VJ Payne, Kansas State. Number 138, they uh they're gonna they're going to get uh at least one wide receiver. I kind of predict, even with the limited picks they got, they might draft two.

SPEAKER_00

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh they're gonna go with Deion Burks, Oklahoma. And then with pick number 144, Sam Roche, tight end, Stanford.

SPEAKER_01

He's a good one.

SPEAKER_02

And uh they say he can block and catch 6'6, 267. Prototypical. Yeah. Uh I got a bold pick though. I mean, you've got to give a bold pick for uh the Seahawks. Okay. Round one, I think the Niners, if he's on the board, and if not, they might even pull some deal where they trade up a player and a and a and a fourth round pick or some bullshit. KC Conception, wide receiver. Conception.

SPEAKER_01

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Uh that would he's considered one of the top five guys.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, he's he's got skills. He's just been a little erratic from what I understand.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, well, good coaching to change that.

SPEAKER_01

That can, yeah. You get in a place like San Francisco.

SPEAKER_02

Yep. Uh, and then also uh uh I see a scenario where the Niners could package two of those fourth rounders to move up for a player they like.

SPEAKER_01

Yep, yeah absolutely. That's my 49er report. No, that's good. That's good. Uh offensive line, um edge. And with with the edge, um you're gonna get good edges in in round two or three. Yeah. There's just a lot of good ones there, and you're doing your team a disservice if you don't try and pick one of them.

SPEAKER_02

Their first round pick is a Trent Williams replacement who can play on any position on the line. Yeah, yeah. And and he could anchor your line for ten years. Okay, Dork, let's see what the Seahawks got with their four four picks.

SPEAKER_01

I guess, you know, the first question can they repeat? They've lost some players. Um Walker. The defensive backfield is a little thin. They lost Kenneth Walker.

SPEAKER_02

And they've only got four picks and they've got to replace uh two players in their secondary and their running back.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

That's why I think they'll trade down for more picks.

SPEAKER_01

They might if they can. Snyder does it. Yeah, he does. But if they're healthy and focused, I see no reason they can't repeat. They're the second favorite behind the Rams on Drave King. I agree. But the division and the entire NFC is good enough that missing the playoffs is a possibility. No doubt. If things, you know, spire spiral downward.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, yeah. They were they were lucky to do what they did last year with all those injuries and shit. It was amazing.

SPEAKER_01

I feel the best strategy for such a team is just to draft the best athlete available. Sure. And um I think the I think O-line depth is uh the most important. And a running back. Again, I'm not I wouldn't draft a running back.

SPEAKER_02

Well, who they got? Uh Charbonnet might not even be back till week five or six.

SPEAKER_01

He he's back. They got uh, what is it, Emmanuel Stewart they signed. They drafted a guy from Georgia last year, I want to say. I forget his name.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, that's why you forget his name, is because he's a nobody.

SPEAKER_01

Well, they had you know Walker and Charbonnet.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, no, they need to take uh uh they need to, in my opinion, they need to grab one of the top seven or eight backs on the board.

SPEAKER_01

I don't know. There's there's cheap veterans out there, Najee, Joe Mixon. You get one of these guys in a contract here, they might really perform for you.

SPEAKER_02

Not excited.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm not gonna I'm gonna use my I'm gonna use my top three picks on other positions.

SPEAKER_02

All right, dark. You're the mock.

SPEAKER_01

That's me. Yeah, that this is your your mock. So what I got him doing, I I actually did this on um PFF. Oh God, here we go again. Dark and they have that mock draft simulator where you can go through. Yeah. So in round one, I had him taking uh a guard, Emmanuel Pregnon from Oregon. Okay. Um he's rated bubble first rounder. Okay. And um, you know, he he's kind of in the same position that Gray Zabel was, their pick last year. Yeah. He's an older prospect, but he was very productive. Uh-huh. And Zable came in and started and was huge for them. Yeah. So that's who I got him going with there. Uh their second round pick, I there's four edges I wrote down. Uh Danny Dennis Sutton from Penn State, Joshua Joseph's from Tennessee, Derek Moore from Michigan, and Mason Thomas from Oklahoma. I think Derek Moore from Michigan is the best one. Uh-huh. Um, but I also kind of would like it if the Bears got him. But if he's there for the Seahawks, I think it'd be a good move.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

Uh, then third round defensive back, and the two I wrote down were Genesis Smith from Arizona and Zake Wheatley from Penn State. Okay. They're both tall uh safeties. And that's what they like. And playmakers. Uh-huh. And in the seventh round, the guy I like is Noah Whittington, the running the gadget running back from Oregon. Okay. Um, and that's where, you know, I think I think him and between Stuart and maybe sign a veteran, that can be a bridge to Sharp when Charbonnet returns.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, they might pick up some dude off uh like Mixon off the scrap heap to get him through the first six or seven games.

SPEAKER_01

But I could also see John Schneider does, I mean, Walker and Charbonnet were both um second round picks. Yep. He took Rashad Penny at the end of round one once.

SPEAKER_02

He moved up for me. He could have got him probably uh in the second round.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah. And um, so if they see a running back they like, I suspect they will take him. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

I have no doubt. That's the way they operate.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, and like the Bears, I I think it'd be good if they could trade down from round one and uh scoop up uh an extra pick. I agree. Now, my bold pick that in round two or three, they draft Garrett Nussmeyer at quarterback. Okay. And start because I like that. You know, they don't uh I'm not I mean, Darnold has been great and props to him. Sure. But I'm still not totally confident in him as a long-term answer. There were some throws in the Super Bowl where I was like, oh, holy shit, he got away with one.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, I no, they've got a if anything, that they have to develop a good backup for the next couple three years. Yep, yep, yep. Because that might be all Darnold's got left unless he implodes. Yeah. And if he implodes, you might have to throw the kid in there in year two.

SPEAKER_01

Yep. So I like it. My bold pick is round two or three, they grab a quarterback.

SPEAKER_00

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

All right.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I'm going to just maybe Carson Beck. There you go. Uh some people say he could hold to maybe the fifth, fourth or fifth round.

SPEAKER_01

Exactly. Yeah, grab that guy. Develop him. If he's there in the fifth, you trade him a next year fourth for the pick.

SPEAKER_02

There you go. Okay, uh, I'm just running down some of my best real quick. Hey, and by the way, uh, I am definitely on the Tennessee Titans bandwagon this year, man.

SPEAKER_01

If you haven't noticed the hat, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And I uh I bought uh I picked up some new gear. I got me uh uh a Rams hat and I got me a Titans hat.

SPEAKER_01

Did you get them at TJ Maxx, dude? Uh no, I ordered them from Fanatics. Oh, okay. They're the best. Yeah, you can get a bar if you get the bargain code from them, you can uh you can get some good deals.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and and uh if you spend over 29 bucks, you get free shipping. Oh, yeah, yeah. So uh huge. Yeah. Shout out to Fanatics. Um okay, so my Titans. Uh I've got them uh to win the AFC South at plus 750.

SPEAKER_01

I love it. It's as good as some of the teams have been, it's still a division in flux. No doubt. Uh and then I also, what did I get?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, I've been trying to get the Titans uh uh overwind total. I think uh I think it's six and a half, but it's minus 140 juice. So I'm gonna wait till after the draft. Maybe I can get them at you know even money or minus 110 or some shit. Um I want to bet they're wind total over. And uh Witcher Smith ones I like here. Uh I got the Panthers to win the NFC South at plus 360. That that is a hell of a deal. It's I think that number's still up, Dor. Uh, and then I've got uh, let's see what else. Oh, I'm also I might end up with a Vikings hat uh here before the season starts because uh I'm all in on the Vikings this fucking year.

SPEAKER_01

I kind of like them as an NFC North winner for sure.

SPEAKER_02

Well, I've got them at uh over eight and a half at plus one fifteen. Uh I was I was good uh I'm looking at betting them to win the NFC North. I think they're plus two ninety right now. Yeah. Which is a good number, almost three to one. But I did a couple of parlays, uh, Dork. Check this out. Uh I got $10 on Tennessee plus Carolina plus Minnesota to make the playoffs at 31 to 1. I love it. And then I've got uh New England plus Detroit plus Seattle to miss the playoffs at 18 to 1. Damn.

SPEAKER_01

I'm gonna kick some ass again this year, Dork. You are on it, dude. I love it. I'm on fucking fire! And I'm going to Vegas next week, people. Yeah, so if you're in Vegas, stop by, find the dude, and say hello.

SPEAKER_02

That's it. I'll be visiting Gil Alexander and Kelly uh Bidlin at uh the uh Beeson Studios and the Circa Resort. Say hi and stuff.

SPEAKER_01

You're gonna enter the circa contest for a grand?

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, probably not. Uh no. Uh or is it 10 grand? I have no idea.

SPEAKER_01

I I really don't.

SPEAKER_02

I think it uh it used to be a I think it's used to be a grand, but it might be more now. I don't know. Anyway, thanks again for watching fantasy football with a dork and the dude. Uh where can they find us out there, Dork?

SPEAKER_01

Where can they find us? Um iHeart Stitcher, Apple Podcasts, Amazon, Google, Spotify, um, all that.

SPEAKER_02

Thanks for watching. The draft is a week away. It's one of the best days in football, don't you think?

SPEAKER_01

It's a lot of fun. It's it's a lot of fun. Every team can every fan of their team can dream big until next October when cold reality hits that your team picked a bunch of clowns. That's it. Dork but in April the last springal.

SPEAKER_02

Yep, the last many, many years, Dork and I uh watched the draft together uh while he's texting his uh brother Chicago Bob. You got it. All right, folks. Well, enjoy the draft. We will be doing a post- uh draft uh the following Thursday, so that's two weeks from now. Yes. Thanks again for watching fantasy football with the Dork and the Dude.

SPEAKER_00

In the voodoo do tana. Boy's still around.

SPEAKER_01

Putting a pox on every team that can be. Independently, just him. Just him, yeah. Don't mess with Koban, Corban, Gorban.
