The 2026 draft is in the books. I give every team a C. But the real analysis is here.

SPEAKER_03

Welcome to Fantasy Football with the Dork and the Dude. This is our draft review. That would be the dude over there, and I am the Dork. That's it.

SPEAKER_02

Welcome back. We're getting more viewers all the time, Dork.

SPEAKER_03

We are. Dude, I gotta tell you, um this draft, for one, it was fairly weak. A little light on talent, deep on good rotational guys.

SPEAKER_02

That's what everybody's been saying. That's the narrative, Dork.

SPEAKER_03

I'm I'm looking at the team and I can find something to like and dislike about practically every draft. Sure. And you know, it's I don't see any one team that stood out.

SPEAKER_02

It's not an exact science, Dork.

SPEAKER_03

No, it isn't.

SPEAKER_02

And I'm sure before you get into your analysis, Dork.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Uh didn't mean to cut you off. I've got uh uh something I've got to play because uh the draft's over, and one of the first things they do uh with the new rookies is they have uh the rookie sub symposium. Have you heard of that, Dor?

SPEAKER_03

I I have, yes.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh well, this is a little clip from uh uh uh symposium, I don't know, 2011 or some bullshit. Uh this was uh rookie year for Teddy Bridgewater.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Here we go, brother.

SPEAKER_01

All right, now I'm gonna let my whole voice know. Y'all wanna keep rolling like this? I need to know who's gonna be the full guy, who's gonna be driving.

SPEAKER_03

Because y'all gonna be a big deal. And at this point, Warren Staff is laughing his ass off.

SPEAKER_01

If you're gonna have a crew, one of them fools got to know he's going to jail.

SPEAKER_02

He's going to jail and they'll get him out, Dork.

SPEAKER_03

Chris Carter. Is that classic? Letting the rookies know. Yeah, you need a fall guy.

SPEAKER_02

That's right. But you know, the m more complex life gets and the older that I get, I realize everybody should have a fall guy.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. I'm here for you, dude.

SPEAKER_02

Uh okay, man.

SPEAKER_03

I'm the I'm I'm the fool going to jail. All right, just bail me out.

SPEAKER_02

Give us your winners and losers, Dork, and I'll do some commentary. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Um, like I said, um, you know, they um I I thought it was all fairly even. I mean, this is uh inexact science, anyways, as you said. Yeah. Uh we won't know for two or three years how these people are gonna pan out. But we can't help analyzing it because that's who we are. That's what we do. And first of all, just let me say, I'm not putting teams like the Jets, Miami, Cleveland, and Vegas in with the winners. Appreciate it. Because they um they did Because they're losers. They did the easy part, and that's accumulating talent. And I think they all did a pretty good job, but now you got to develop it, and you know, they're at the bottom, and they're just hey, everyone come on in here. Yeah. And um the other team in that bundle, Arizona, they lead off my losers. Okay. I just they are the worst team to be taking a running back in the top ten, I think.

SPEAKER_02

I don't really uh I don't agree with that, Dor.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Um uh this guy by uh many estimates was the best player in the draft.

SPEAKER_03

Right.

SPEAKER_02

You're rebuilding. Uh yeah, granted, it might not pay off till year three with the CAC when you put a good offensive line uh around him. They have weapons. They do. And they need a quarterback. Uh Brissett was putting up 300 fucking yards a game last year. I don't know why everybody's talking about him like he's dog shit.

SPEAKER_03

I I am not averse to a quarterback tandem of Brissett and Minshew in a bridge year, and I mean Minshew as a backup. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um in a bridge year when you're hope that that sucker never gets into a game.

SPEAKER_03

Right. But um, you know, he he has done some good things in his career. It's been a while. But it has been a while. He's a journeyman, a backup. I I don't know. I go for a premium position if it's me. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Uh and and where's that gonna get you since you're going nowhere anyway?

SPEAKER_03

He's gonna give you a piece who um is gonna be there hopefully 10, 15 years in being all pro. Right. Um, it's just you know, you could go back to Barkley, who didn't improve the Giants. Um that's because the Giants are a dysfunctional organization. And what are the Cardinals, I guess I'd say.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh, but they've got uh new coach uh staff, you've got to figure they're gonna turn around. Uh I think uh I don't have a hard time with that pick.

SPEAKER_03

I don't know, but I just heard the same thing about Bichon and Genty the last few years, and it just it just doesn't seem to work.

SPEAKER_02

And um it helps if you have a uh a s a good quarterback.

SPEAKER_03

And if the if this uh it's LaFleur's brother, right? Yeah if yeah, if he's if he's another genius on the level of Sean McVeigh, I suspect he'll make it work, no matter who they drafted here. Sure. And um loves receiving ability. They say they think he can play some slot and be used as a weapon in the passing game. That does change the calculus a little.

SPEAKER_02

No, fuck that. Uh the plan is he's gonna be Christian McCaffrey.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, that's that that's good, but that did not work out for Carolina when they had Christian McCaffrey.

SPEAKER_02

No, this is the Shanahan tree. Carolina's dysfunctional.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, well, we'll see. I'm I'm I'm I'm uh I'm uh I'm not impressed. Another dislike is the Rams. I love their draft. I'm not arguing with taking a QB here or a six-string tight end and after him. Right. But um, you know, tight ends are becoming a big thing, as we know.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, your team uh draft one in a third round.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, they did. But um the QB is full of red flags. He's he's not a weapon as a runner. He can scramble, but so can everyone. Right. Um he didn't have a great year. You know, it's it's they say it was injury, but it's also possible once people got film on him and studied him, right? That's when his uh numbers declined. Okay. And uh he's smallish for a QB. Right.

SPEAKER_02

What is he 6'1?

SPEAKER_03

I think 6'2, 210.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, uh, yeah. I have no problem with uh uh any of his collegiate shit at this point. He's in the fucking NFL. He got drafted in the first round uh to one of the best organizations and coaching staffs in the fucking game. Uh uh, they will prepare that guy, and if you have to set for two years, so be it.

SPEAKER_03

It it it might work out great. It might give him uh keep the keep their uh success going after Stafford. Uh-huh. But there are just too many red flags for him as a quarterback to take him that high in my mind. Too early to tell for me. It is too early to tell, but that's my take, dude, and I'm sticking to it.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, man, but we're looking at big picture as well as macro.

SPEAKER_03

We're looking at big picture as well. You got that? Is it macro big picture? We're I mean micro. We're looking macro and micro. Okay. Another one. Um Atlanta. That's another loser.

SPEAKER_02

Three years from now you'll be uh or three years from now you'll be taking Ty Simpson in our fantasy fucking draft.

SPEAKER_03

Well, it's that's very possible. I mean, I I don't want to doubt Sean McVeigh, but these guys aren't right all the time either. I'm just saying. True. You know, and if he could just take anyone.

SPEAKER_02

Well, he took uh Jared Gaw.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah number one. If he if he could if he could just take anyone and um turn him into a great quarterback, he'd said, no, we got Stetson Bennett here backing up uh uh Stafford. He's next to him. He uh he was a national championship winner, Bennett was.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he'll be a he'll knock around, he'll make three million a year as uh holding a clipboard.

SPEAKER_03

Flipboard holder? Well, good for him. Uh next is Atlanta. That Pierce trade was just so dumb. Yeah, it was. In fact, it's a nice segue here because the pick that the Rams used to get Simpson was from the Pierce trade. Freebie. And um I knew from reading stuff that he was the worst character case in last year's draft.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

And um so you know everyone in the NFL knew that. Yeah. And it proved to be true. Now, Matt, I hope he turns things around.

SPEAKER_02

But um But to trade up for the pool. I mean, uh if he drops to you uh third round because no one wants to touch him because of his issues.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, that's one uh move up first round, give a first round draft pick.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Next, Tennessee. You're Titans.

SPEAKER_02

I love him! My boys! Okay, I I think we're gonna possibly have some disputes here, Dork.

SPEAKER_03

People tune in for.

SPEAKER_00

Oh God, here we go again, Dork alert.

SPEAKER_03

They picked the second best receiver on his team, on his college team. Uh according to whose estimation. Everyone's. Jeremiah, is it Jeremiah Smith?

SPEAKER_02

Oh, and they're all right all the time, too.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And um they passed on a couple of possibly generational defensive talents in Arvell Reese and Sonny Styles. Right. And I just don't think that's a good that's smart. Okay. Okay. I think Carnell Tate will be a fine player, but most people didn't even have the as the top receiver in the draft. It was uh doesn't matter. Fucking uh Jerry Rice uh went number 16, for God's sake. Well, you know, I will gladly come on here and say I was wrong if he's the next Jerry Rice.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, he's not gonna be, but uh they need Cam Ward weapons. Yeah, Avril Reese ain't gonna fucking do that.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, but he might uh cause turnovers and sacks and get him the ball in good field position.

SPEAKER_02

Uh you still gotta have someone to throw it to. It's an offensive-minded league, Dorot.

SPEAKER_03

But there were good receivers available in round two, three, and four. Um He was their guy.

SPEAKER_02

I have no problem with taking your guy.

SPEAKER_03

I think this was a mistake. And anyways, the last one, well, I get that. I agree. I totally agree, but I'm gonna have a take that's different, and I I'm gonna I have a platform here and I'm gonna say it, damn it.

SPEAKER_02

Well, that's what we do, Dor.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. And uh finally, everyone's piling on San Francisco. Yeah. And I I actually kind of like their picks. I have no problem. Except why do they keep drafting running backs in the third round who fail?

SPEAKER_02

Well, it's been like every year they draft a good. Well, because if you hit on one, uh uh uh no one remembers the failures. Uh uh Jordan Mason's a good back.

SPEAKER_03

Jordan Mason, but they got him uh wasn't he late round or even an undrafted free.

SPEAKER_02

Elijah Mitchell was a good back to the back. But again, he was later than that, I think. Injuries and shit.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

No, I'm not worried. Uh uh, I'm not worried. They they take risk.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Sometimes it uh pays off, sometimes it blows up in their fucking face. What was Kittle? A fifth rounder?

SPEAKER_03

Kittle was a fifth rounder, I think, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so no, I don't question those cats.

SPEAKER_03

Well, but we gotta. We can't we can't put these guys up on a pedestal.

SPEAKER_02

No, but we but we can't uh just fucking uh hammer them.

SPEAKER_03

Yes, we can. That's what we do.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, so you're doing a hatchet job on John Lynch and Shanahan. Okay, Dort, go for it. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Because who Tyreeon David Price, Trey Sermon. I know there's been some others. Um and I like Tyreon David Price. Everybody makes mistakes. They make one with a running back every draft.

SPEAKER_02

You don't want me to go into the Chicago Bears draft history, do you?

SPEAKER_03

Dort the Bears. I didn't bring up the Bears. No, but I am not what do you think that after Chicago Bob's report? I'm gonna play the straw man. Okay. Anyways, these are the ones I like. Okay. Um, I mentioned, you know, the Jets, Miami, Cleveland, Vegas. You know, I think they did a great job. But they're rebuilding and they did what they had to do. Congratulations. They're dysfunctional. We don't expect much from them. Right. Tennessee's dysfunctional too, but you love them. I do. Arizona's dysfunctional, and you know. Anyways, uh Baltimore. I like that. I like what they got. I, you know, they had a lot of picks, which is really good in a draft like this. Sure. And their first round pick, they draft well. They got a stud. They didn't worry about positional value. They said this guy's an all-pro as a guard. Let's get him. Yeah. Uh Carolina.

unknown

Uh good.

SPEAKER_03

My boys! Yeah, they got good players at premium positions, I believe. I got some Carolina gear uh uh downstairs.

SPEAKER_02

Just arrived uh, I think Vedac.

SPEAKER_03

Excellent. I can't, you know, you're gonna have a rotating uh bit of uh gear this year. I mean, I'm gonna love it. Oh yeah. That's that's uh that's the way I rolled, Doric. Um Washington, I I like. Oh yeah, wow. They they waited on Sunday. They're style who's looking like the next door locker. Okay, you know, style. Fast guy, tall guy.

SPEAKER_02

Good pickup at seven.

SPEAKER_03

And then um they got value on it. If you look at every one of their picks, he was pick picked um let's see. The consensus on him was way earlier than when they took him. Right. So I think they did a good job. So they got good value. Yeah. Um three more, I think, did well. Dallas, because they got downs. He's he looks like an impact player and that pass rusher. Yep. And they focused on defense. Which was their weakness. Um, Buffalo, I thought, did a good job. I did too. Ten picks they had. They got an edge, a tackle, and a cornerback. Um, and they're uh, I'll mention this guy later, but I think the receiver Skyler Bell is a good uh long shot for rookie of the year. A lot of people.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, he's uh a lot of people are uh talking him up post-draft.

SPEAKER_03

Obviously the Giants with their two first-round picks, but they also have big hole in the middle of their defensive line, so we'll see how that goes. I gotta get some Giants here. I don't have it yet. Who aren't your boys? Come on, dude. You're usually all you're usually bashing and doing a hatchet job on these clowns. Well, Dork, seeing as how are you softening up in your old age?

SPEAKER_02

No, seeing as how I'm riding my uh super uh betting season from last year and stuff. Uh uh, I realize I'm on a roll. I got the mojo. And so I'm gonna be cashing a lot of tickets, Dork, that you're gonna say, uh, I'm hey Dork, you were right. I didn't think the Titans would do jack shit, and and uh I cash big tickets. Okay, well it works.

SPEAKER_03

We'll uh in in maybe a month we'll have a uh an updated uh wind totals uh show. Sure. And uh we can do some side bets then, okay, and we'll see who caches who.

SPEAKER_02

Sounds like a total plan.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Um although the wind totals aren't going to change much, probably in the next couple months.

SPEAKER_03

Probably not. Okay, and um also I like Denver. I thought they made some solid lipstick. I thought they were solid too. And the fact that they they brought in Jalen Model. The gutter snipe drafts well. So those are the those are the guys I like. Okay. And now we talked about the Bears. We have Chicago Bob's Bear Report. Thank you, Chicago Bob. Yep.

SPEAKER_02

Want me do it now, Dorne? Yeah, let's do it. All right, here we go. And thanks again, Chicago Bob. Uh, your analysis is always right on. Says, uh, hey Dork and dude, another NF NFL draft is over and done with, and for the second year in a row, the Bears surprised us with their second day selections. Yours truly was right about the Bears taking a safety in the first round, but I did not expect Dylan Thinelman? Is that how it's pronounced? The enemies. Uh he's an organ duck. Yes, he is. Uh the Bears were fortunate that he dropped because it was a position of need also. I was predicting, hoping, they would go D-line with both day two picks and pick up a center and tied in later on. But they flipped the script on me and did pretty much the opposite. Here's my expert analysis. That's why we have you here, Bob. That's it. Bob knows his bears. That's why he's Chicago Bob.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Um, round one, Dylan. The enemies. I'll get that. Did you bet him for rookie of the year, Dory?

SPEAKER_03

Uh, not yet.

SPEAKER_02

Uh, you need to get on that. Uh safety out of Oregon, great value at 25 overall. We'll start alongside free agent signee Kobe Bryant. Round two, Logan Jones, center out of Iowa. We'll start the offseason behind Garrett Bradbury, who has one year remaining on his contract. Jones may compete for a starting job this year. What did you think about the Jones picture?

SPEAKER_03

I like it. I they needed, I wanted depth in the interior offensive line, and he gives it to them. And you lose Dallas. He's also a tough, uh, you know, he's the only knock on him is he's a little undersized, I believe. He's not one of those big corn fed farm boys? Um, apparently not. Okay. He's only he he I think he's only like 303 pounds. Okay. Yeah. That is kind of light for Iowa linemen. Dave Remington Award is the best center in the nation last year. Nice. He uh comes from Iowa, who produces good offensive linemen. Yeah, they do. And um he he moves really well. He's super quick, and I I think in this scheme he should do real well.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. All right, round three, Sam Roche is it? Rush. Rush. Tight end out of Stanford. The Bears moved back from round two, pick number sixty, here for a fifth round pick. They needed to take a tight end because they often run multiple tight end sets. Uh Rush will play some as a third tight end and probably contribute on special teams.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What did you think of the pick there, Dork? Would you have been there in the fourth round?

SPEAKER_03

I'm gonna say no. I mean, Ben Johnson has a plan for him, but that doesn't mean it's a good plan. Um, he may have been there in the fourth round, but they targeted him, they went by their board. I personally would have liked to see him take a take an edge rusher, and there were decent ones there.

SPEAKER_02

And you had two third rounders. Yeah. Okay, so your second uh third rounder, you picked, uh, and everybody considers this as a reach, just like the 49ers with their wide receiver was a reach. I don't care. Xavion Thomas, wide receiver kick returner out of LSU, has blazing speed, ran a 4.28 40-yard dash at the combine. What do you think about that, Dorf? Was it a reach?

SPEAKER_03

I agree it's a reach. Okay.

SPEAKER_02

Um blazing speed that they may But you know, by round three, I I I've been watching some analysis. If you wait till round three to get an edge rusher, they're gone.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Right? Oh yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah. So you got uh uh And no really no round three edge rusher or put it this way, a round three edge rusher or defensive interior guy is highly unlikely to make an impact on the roster as anything other than uh rotational help. I hear you.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so uh uh then in round four you took Malik Muhammad, cornerback Texas. I've heard good things about him.

SPEAKER_03

Good athlete, yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Corner uh with good height and speed, adds depth, and could be a starter in 2027.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, you know, fourth, fifth rounders, if they make your teams and produce, you're happy. Round five, Keyshawn Elliott, linebacker out of Arizona State, high character guy who will start out as a depth piece, a special teamer.

SPEAKER_03

So the Bears, um, one of the reporting out of this was they really went for not just high character guys, right, but guys who love to play football, love to work at it. I like it. And you know, the kind of guys who had to be chased out of the weight room. Not that they do that, but and um, so I'm I'm all for that if all these guys are like that.

SPEAKER_02

Cool. Uh round six, uh uh your only defensive lineman taken, Jordan Vandenberg, defensive tackle out of Georgia Tech, another high character, high effort guy who would join the defensive tackle rotation.

SPEAKER_03

He's um interesting guy. He's a real good physical specimen. He didn't get to the combine, he didn't get an invite. But he had a pro day where his uh testing was off the charts, I guess. Cool. So uh he lasted till the sixth round. He lasted till the sixth round, and that's an obvious red flag, but we'll see. Okay. South African guy.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. And then it says Best Bears rookie names. There's a tie, Doric. This award goes to two undrafted free agents. Squirrel White, wide receiver, and uh out of Florida State, and Hayden Large, tight end Iowa.

SPEAKER_03

First of all, I love the names. Yeah. Iowa tight ends do great. I mean Kittle, Dallas Clark, Hawkinson, um, they're tied into Laporta. Um, you know, I'm never gonna argue with an Iowa tight end, and I I know I missed some. Um uh Hayden Large, undrafted free agent, but who knows? We'll see. Uh maybe they'll afore tight end offense. Who knows? And I love the idea of a Caleb to Squirrel matchup, you know? That would be awesome. I just hope he doesn't run like a squirrel where he's just going all over the place and you can't find him.

SPEAKER_02

Uh they call him squirrel for some reason. I don't know, maybe he's from Alabama and they ate it growing up. Could be. Uh anyway, Bob gives him a uh B plus grade. Uh he says, again, I was hoping for a day one or two defensive linemen, but the Bears had invested heavily in that group last year and are hoping that better coaching will turn it around. I think they're managed to add depth at some positions that will help them manage the roster with respect to the salary cap. And he also wanted to thank uh I missed page two. You got the rest of it uh yeah, finish it off there, Doc.

SPEAKER_03

It's pretty clear that Ben Johnson is in charge. They had significant contributions from last year's draft class, so I will give Johnson the benefit of the doubt here. That's all I have for now. Thanks to the Athletic Chicago Sun-Times and 670 Sports Radio the Score. And Courtney Cronin. And Courtney Cronin. And Stacey Dales. I saw her, she was on there today. I watched a little video of her thoughts on the Bears. Nice. Um I like Stacy Dales. Yeah, yeah. Smart, uh, smart reporter. Yeah, she is. Um, I agree with the I I give all of them the benefit of the doubt, but I'm I'm gonna give my opinion too. So that's what we do. Our viewers demand it. Our listeners demand it.

SPEAKER_02

There wouldn't be a damn podcast if that's not if we didn't do that.

SPEAKER_03

Fucking A right there we have.

SPEAKER_02

You got any other stuff to add, Dork?

SPEAKER_03

Um, real quick, uh, just early thoughts on some uh fantasy players. Nice. I think Jadarian Price with Seattle is a good one. You know I don't like running backs in a round one, but John Snyder has had a lot of success drafting running backs early. And this guy's probably gonna be the man from day one behind a decent offensive line and a good offense.

SPEAKER_02

First, he might be uh uh the the guy first five or six weeks till Charbonnet gets exactly.

SPEAKER_03

Um a couple of uh a couple of uh obviously Love's gonna be a good pick because he's gonna get the rock. Yep. I like uh other some later drafted running backs to keep an eye on, and of course, watch the camp news, see what's going on, all that. Yeah. Uh Jonah Coleman from Denver, got out of Washington.

SPEAKER_02

You know, in our fantasy draft, someone's gonna take a uh a flyer on him.

SPEAKER_03

Nick Singleton, I believe he's with the Titans. Does that sound right?

SPEAKER_02

He is hell of a pick. I should have talked about it when you were running them down and doing a hatchet job on their ass.

SPEAKER_03

That's okay. I think he might be a decent fantasy pick. And his teammate at Penn State.

SPEAKER_02

Uh uh, he's gonna take uh Pollard's job before it's all over.

SPEAKER_03

Catron Allen at Washington. I thought that was a hell of a pick, too. It'll be like when Lydell Mitchell and Franco Harris came from in from Penn State in the 71 draft, and both of them became Pro Bowlers. You're dreaming. Yeah, oh yeah, you just watch. Okay, uh there's a lot of good receivers out there, and I'll I'll just name them off. Uh Antonio Williams, Washington, Deshaun Stribling for the Niners, Omar Cooper for the Jets, um, Zachariah Branch for Atlanta, Elijah Surratt, Baltimore, he's an Indiana guy. Yep. The other Indiana guy, Omar Cooper was his first.

SPEAKER_02

He was gonna take Bateman's job.

SPEAKER_03

You know, obviously Tate Tyson in the first rounders. Sure. But you got Boston and Concepcion at Cleveland, Chris Bell at Miami, and uh oh, obviously Makai Lemon with Philly.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah. What a move by Philly to get that guy.

SPEAKER_03

And uh keep an eye on tight ends, Justin Jolly and Dalen Bentley at Denver. Um the gutter snipe uses the tight ends well. They both looked pretty good. So uh just keep an eye on them.

SPEAKER_02

And they're giving up on Ingram. That was a dumb signing.

SPEAKER_03

Well, you know, you take your shots, but it turned out to be dumb. Didn't work. Okay, can I do one more thing here, dude? Do it, Dork. I yeah, I took a little deep dive on first-round quarterbacks. Give me a dork alert. Oh, thank you.

SPEAKER_02

First time giving you your applause for your analysis, Dork.

SPEAKER_00

Oh God, here we go again. Dork alert.

SPEAKER_03

Okay, so, dude, did you know that in the first uh 62 years of the draft from 1936 to 1997, there were only 17 quarterbacks selected number one overall. I knew that. Since then, just kidding, 20 27 years, it looks like. Okay. Or 20 29 years from 98 to 26. Okay. There have been 22 QBs. As the importance of the QB has become apparent to if you don't have one, you got no shot. Right. But that's 39 overall, and so a lot of them before the Super Bowl era. Sure. So I I kind of started with uh Bradshaw in 1970. Okay. As as you know, for my thing. Sure. I counted three who were a lot of them you could call busts. Right. But a lot of them also played a long time and did put up a good year or two.

SPEAKER_02

Well, and when you start with the worst team in the league, uh uh you can easily get shell shot.

SPEAKER_03

And the three I identified as I would call them busts. Okay. Um were Derek or Tim Couch, sure, Derek Carr, or not Derek, uh David Carr, sure, and Jamarcus Russell. Sure. There were others who were busts like um Vinny Testaverdi, but he went on to play a long time. He did. Uh Jeff George was a clown, but he also played a long time and kept getting signed by new teams who thought they could coach him into being something other than a douchebag. Uh-huh. And uh, you know, so that. Um five of those, in all that time, five won a Super Bowl with their original team. Uh-huh. And that was Bradshaw, Elway, Aikman, and the Manning brothers, Payton and Eli. Right. Three of them won a Super Bowl with a different team. Our guy, Jim Plunkett, uh Manning, and uh Matthew Stafford. Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_02

Of course, Manning wasn't the first overall pick. He was. No, that was a trade with San Diego. Eli was. But he was I mean, uh Eli.

SPEAKER_03

He is listed as the first pick, though.

SPEAKER_02

But he wasn't. It was the first one.

SPEAKER_03

I think San Diego took, or they they picked him, but he was picked. Yeah, but if you look at the draft, he was the guy picked first. And then they traded him to the Giants.

SPEAKER_02

Okay. I thought he was announced as a member of the uh Chargers or whatever. I'll have to look at that. No, he was. I remember him coming out carrying the fucking jersey. Yeah. So he was the number he was not the number one pick.

SPEAKER_03

Well, he was, but they traded him. They they they picked him number one before or after? I think after.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. Okay. Who went number one then?

SPEAKER_03

He did he did. He was the guy announced as the number one pick. And then the Giants flipped flopped with uh with San Diego at the time.

SPEAKER_02

Okay, so the Chargers announced him as their n is the number one pack.

SPEAKER_03

And honestly, Rivers was a better quarterback. Yeah, he was. He just uh had a couple of uh, you know, lucky Super Bowl wins when my my theory now is that Tom Coughlin said, remember all those signals we used to have? Oh, we're gonna change him for the Super Bowl, and that's why New England was clueless about what to do.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh Manning had a pretty lucky fucking career like Warner.

SPEAKER_03

So uh Mendoza, um, I like him. It's but he is one of those, he just coming off one real good year ago um uh prospects. Right. So we'll see. But he is the right pick. Um 31 other GMs would have drafted him or traded down to a team that would have drafted him if they had a quarterback. So I am not knocking the Raiders at all. It was Slim Pickens. Yeah, it was. And um I just I just thought that was interesting to share. One more thing, quick. Sure. Um, so the day of the draft, as it got close, I was watching DraftKings and um or looking at DraftKings and trying to predict a draft order because of the odds. Sure. It did not go well. Uh yeah. Mendoza was right.

SPEAKER_02

No, like Mendoza was probably minus a thousand.

SPEAKER_03

Fano went to Cleveland and Delane went to KC, they were predicted, but not in their spots. Right. Tyson, they got that right. Um, let me see. I'm just looking, going down the line here. They had the Rams taking Lemon, although Simpson had pretty decent odds. Right. Uh Ioni to Baltimore. Omar Cooper to the Jets, but not at 16. They got him later. Uh-huh. Um, yeah, they didn't get anything right hardly.

SPEAKER_02

It's tough.

SPEAKER_03

So, um, oh, Mala Malachi Lawrence to Dallas. He was he was kinda kinda set to go there. Uh-huh. But it was just an interesting little exercise, and it just shows that, you know, maybe maybe the the odds makers don't know. They don't. Yeah. The big thing was Reese. He was dropping like uh a rock at num for number two. Yeah, you were. His odds were down to minus 250, I want to say. Uh-huh. And we were watching it. I told you, it's probably going to be Reese. And then they picked Bailey, and I felt like a damn fool. Well, yeah But it won't be the first it wasn't the first time, won't be the last.

SPEAKER_02

Most of the mock drafter drafters weren't right either. Okay, Dorg, before we close out here, I'm going to run down my Super Bowl bets. I think uh I've probably got about 400 in futures at this point. So let's run.

SPEAKER_03

This is a guy who had Seattle at 65 to 1 at this time last year. So it you'd be wise to listen, everyone. That's what I'm talking about and take note. That's what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_00

Huh? This is business, and this man has taken it very, very personal. It's not personal, Sonny.

SPEAKER_02

It's business.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. Okay. I probably watched that clip once a week on YouTube, that and the Mo Green clip.

SPEAKER_02

I like it. I like the Mo Green one too. Uh okay. I I don't have a lot on the Super Bowl per se. I have the Rams. I got them at plus uh 950. Uh they dropped as far as plus 750, but they're back up to plus 800. Oh, okay. Uh I got Cincinnati 25 to 1. I like it. I got uh well the uh yeah, they're 25 to 1. I think they dropped after the draft down to 22 or something. Um I got Carolina and the Saints both 100 to 1. Uh I regret that I bet $10 on them because according to Oregon Law, any uh wins over $600 they hit John for taxes, but that was a mistake. I don't make many of those. Taxes are the price we pay for a decent society, dude. I got the Tennessee Titans, my Tennessee Titans, 120 to 1 dort. Like you said, no one should be 100 to 1. That's right.

SPEAKER_03

And if you like them, take them.

SPEAKER_02

Uh I got the Giants 70 to 1. I got the Vikings 55 to 1.

SPEAKER_03

I like that one. That's that's really a good one. I'm gonna jump on that one.

SPEAKER_02

Do it. And then I got the Rams over uh the Broncos, exact uh finish, 100 to 1. Love it. Divisions, I got the Broncos winning the AFC West plus 215. I got Carolina winning the NFC South at plus 360. Titans winning the AFC South at 750 plus 750, and the Vikings winning the NFC North at plus 550. They're plus 600. I I should have waited.

SPEAKER_03

Here's what I'm gonna say on that. Anytime you get a team over about plus 500 to win the division, yeah, take it. That's what I'm thinking. Jump on it, throw a few bucks on it, whatever. That's what I'm doing, Darren. That's smart. Um, I did it with the Texans uh uh two years ago. Nice when they were, I want to say 22 to one, just five bucks. And they won.

SPEAKER_02

22 to 1?

SPEAKER_03

Maybe it was 11 to 1. I won 110 bucks on it. Cool. So it uh if I bet five, it was 11 to 1. If I bet um or whatever. Okay, dory. Anyways, I got the Dork, the dude has Teams of Destiny. I picked out two today myself. Who are they, Dor? Uh, the Cleveland Browns. Okay. Because that is a division in flux with new coaches and everything. I'm gonna do it. Or 10 to 1. Yeah. Do it. The other one is the Las Vegas Raiders. Okay. They have a superstar on both offense and defense. They got a new coach who seems to have gotten things together. Right. Um, it might be Cousins, it might be Mendoza, I don't know. Who cares? But I'm really not impressed with where Kansas City is now, especially with Mahomes maybe missing the start of the season. He will miss the start of the season. I'm not impressed with um, you know, I I I like the Chargers, I like the Broncos, but Bonicks didn't blow me away last year.

SPEAKER_02

No, the Broncos are gonna kick ass.

SPEAKER_03

And um who knows? But those are my two teams of destiny. So um, there you go. Okay. I might get some gear.

SPEAKER_02

I've got I've got a few teams. My teams is of destiny, and this is a lot of this is based on my betting, Dor. Uh the Rams, the Titans. Um the Rams, Titans, uh, the Panthers, and the Saints. Okay, so uh I gave you divisions, wins over and on uh or under. I got Denver over nine and a half, I got Cincy over nine and a half, I got the Saints over seven and a half, I got the Vikings over eight and a half, I got the Giants over seven and a half, Carolina over seven and a half, Jacksonville over nine and a half, Philly over ten and a half, and I got New England under nine and a half.

SPEAKER_03

Love it.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, uh Drable, it it's not good out there, brother.

SPEAKER_03

It's not good for him.

SPEAKER_02

So, you know, I'm I I could see a possible uh regret, and they had the easiest schedule in the world last.

SPEAKER_03

They did.

SPEAKER_02

Super Bowl loser, I mean Super Bowl loser hangover, uh coach in scandal. Yeah, uh not a good combo. Okay, and then I also got some uh uh parlays here, Dory. Let's hear them. Tennessee plus Carolina plus Minnesota to make the playoffs 31 to 1. Love it. I got New England plus Detroit plus Seattle to miss the playoffs, 18 to 1. I like that too. Purdy, MVP 20 to 1. Like it. Uh defensive rookie of the year, I don't even know the cat. Uh Anthony Hill. Anthony Hill. That's a good one. 40 to 1.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, he's on the same uh same kind of situation as uh last year, Swechinger. That's what I'm hoping for, Dark. Good thinking, dude.

SPEAKER_02

I got one more. I got uh I placed it today, Kevin O'Connell, coach of the year, 30 to 1. Love it. My Vikings.

SPEAKER_03

Anytime Kevin O'Connell is over 20 to 1, jump on it.

SPEAKER_02

That's what I'm talking about.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. Uh who do you real quick, who do you like in the Derby?

SPEAKER_02

Uh I I just got my racing form today. I haven't done my handicapping, Dork. Uh, so uh I really can't commit, but I've got a couple of long shots uh that once I hone it down a little bit, I'm leaning toward it. One's called the Puma.

SPEAKER_03

The Puma. Love it.

SPEAKER_02

Um let's see, who else do I like in there? Uh I've been looking at other races a little closer, uh, first off, uh whatever. But one thing is for sure. The favorite is has the number one post position. It's death.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

And so uh it's wide open. Easily you can hit a 12, 15 to 1 shot to win this damn thing.

SPEAKER_03

I heard that it's wide open this year, and I like that.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, so I'm gonna be working my uh magic uh Friday with the form and uh placing my bet Saturday morning. Okay. And so there it but this is gonna be one of the fun ones because a lot of times the derby, there's like two big horses like last year. Yeah. Journalism sovereignty. Uh and uh one of those two uh maybe three horses are gonna win. This is so wide open, there's five or six horses that could win this, and what no people would go, I wasn't surprised.

SPEAKER_03

Okay. So excellent. Yeah. Thanks for joining us. We'll be back in maybe a month, we'll see. Um but if you hit that subscribe button, I think you get notified, right? Yeah, and it's free. It's free. SPEAKER_02

SPEAKER_03

SPEAKER_02

Okay, but thanks for watching, Fanny people are going to do that. You have a gambling problem. Well, when they had the gambling problem.

SPEAKER_01

So I got to teach y'all how to get around all this stuff, too. If you're gonna have a crew, one of them crews got to know he's gonna jay.

SPEAKER_02

You go on the jack. We'll get him out. Come on, see where I'm
