Rise Up with April Poynter
Rise Up with April Poynter
This is the unfiltered version of April.
Rise Up is a podcast about the real stuff — healing, leading, building, and figuring it out along the way.
No single lane. No neat category. Just honest conversations and solo thoughts from someone who has spent over 20 years in boardrooms, break rooms, and every space in between.
Some episodes are about chronic blushing and breaking the loop.
Some are about the alignment gap between leaders and the people doing the work.
Some are just audio messages — unscripted, unedited, straight from wherever April is in that moment.
Because some thoughts are too real to wait for a recording schedule.
All of it comes from the same place.
Just a human. Navigating being one.
All of it is Rise Up.
Come for one thing. Stay for all of it.

53: 6 Years Later: My Erythrophobia Journey & What I’ve Learned About Blushing - AND HEALING
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
It’s been six years since I started Blushing Phoenix — a channel that began with my desperate search for answers about chronic blushing and erythrophobia (the fear of blushing or turning red in front of others).
Back in November 2019, I thought my blushing was hormonal. I experimented with birth control, learned about progesterone, tried propranolol, and spent years untangling how my body, emotions, and beliefs were all connected.
In this video, I’m sharing what’s changed.
How I went from completely unraveling when someone pointed out my blushing - to calmly explaining it to a stranger at the hair salon without spiraling.
How propranolol helped me bridge the gap while rebuilding confidence.
And how I eventually stopped letting blushing define who I am.
Blushing Phoenix has evolved with me. I’ve talked about mindset, confidence, and growth - but I wanted to come back to the root of why this channel exists: to help others navigating erythrophobia feel seen, supported, and inspired by what’s possible.
Because the truth is, people really don’t care as much as we think they do.
And the moment we stop caring, we start to heal.
If you’re struggling with blushing, anxiety, or the fear of being seen, this video is for you.
You can build confidence, have relationships, speak publicly, and live freely - even if you blush.
Subscribe for more real conversations on healing, confidence, and inner growth.
Share your story in the comments - you never know who it might help.
