Episode #17 (Trauma Series Ep. #6): "Deescalating the Volcanoes" of Grief
Show Notes

Today is the anniversary of Rita's (my guest this week) father and her daughter's grandfather's passing. During mine and Rita's conversation, she was honored to hear I would publishing her episode on the anniversary of her father's passing as it's a great way to honor him.

If you are attempting to navigate multiple family members' grief around the loss of the same person, mine and Rita's conversation would be a great one for you. She discusses:

  • Trying to navigate her own grief while also caring for and worrying about her mother and daughter
  • Attempting to understand her child's grief (who was 9 years old at the time)
  • Coping skills she utilized to help her "deescalate the volcanoes) of grief

Rita Coalson has had 49 deaths in her lifetime of friends and family. She has become a grief counselor due to wanting to help others have a safe space to be themselves as they grieve their loved ones who have died. Rita loves being silly, dancing wildly, laughing a lot, trying anything once, and living life at full volume.
