Jethro Casie (00:01.13)
Welcome back to another episode of Case by Casey Kingdom Secrets to Success. We're talking about my journey of faith, part two, and how it could help you. And today we're to be discussing the spiritual growth and what that looks like and maybe what it might look like for you as well on your walk with Christ. So yeah, I wanted to start because I think there's some basics of Christianity or getting

drawing closer to Jesus in terms of like the relationship aspect that everybody who I know who's at like a greater spiritual level than me or even just starting out and their faith needs to go ahead and do and what that looked like for me was putting my mindset on spiritual growth. So being in the world or for many of us were like in the world and obviously now we're in the world but not of it and it's also having that mindset that was in Christ Jesus something I'm

still developing to this day. Definitely not perfect at all, but knowing that the mindset that Christ had was something that I'm assuming maybe he grew into because it said he even grew in wisdom and understanding, I believe, or something like that. And he went to Egypt and we don't know what he did in those 30 years before his ministry actually started. So one is be patient with yourself, give yourself grace that these spiritual things will happen. We just have to remain faithful.

and diligent. But yeah, just how you would have your financial mindset and wanting to grow that and your understanding of that, having your physical mindset and wanting to grow that, maybe even emotionally, maybe friendship wise and relationship wise, wanting to grow that. And also, and probably most importantly, as the Bible says, seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness and all these other things shall be added on to you is having that kingdom mindset. And that's why we're here for case by case the end.

That's number one is having that mindset of spiritual growth. I think as you the Bible says ask and you shall receive. So obviously going down, we'll talk about prayer, but asking God to lead you into the spiritual growth and then to seek and you shall find. So actively seeking out what a spiritual growth look like. What does that mean to to you? What does that mean in the Bible? In the word of God, what does God want me to seek him? How does he want me to seek him? And then knocking on the door will be open that we'll talk about that as well where it talks about.

Jethro Casie (02:26.08)
mentors and what that would look like. But in terms of spiritual growth, I feel and I know that the first step is the renewing of your mind because there's many habits, there's many mindsets, there's many strongholds and a stronghold is just to my understanding is like a way of thinking that has formed like a literally a stronghold in your mind and it's something that maybe you're speaking the word of God.

And the word of God says it's sharper than any two -edged sword, or that the word of God is like our weapon in the spirit. So as you're speaking the word of God, this stronghold that you may have in your head is being broken down, but things do take time. And I think there's the aspect of deliverance in the sense of, depending what type of church you go to, you will be seeing people delivered.

from demons, from whatever the case may be, from evil spirits, unclean spirits, wicked spirits, just spirits in general. But then I believe there's also self -deliverance, where it's those old habits that you used to do, then maybe the Holy Spirit, and because this happened to me, the Holy Spirit kind of just removed a lot of desires, I think just giving my life to Christ, removed a lot of desires that I had. But then there's also desires that I think God has allowed me to...

to keep or maybe that's not the right way. Well, I think there's temptations that God allows me to face and allow you to face to one test you in terms of like how much are you willing to draw closer to Christ? Like are you willing to give up this temptation? As I took away, let's say drinking and smoking, but are you willing to give up video games? Are you willing to stop hanging out with your friends as much and just seek me not that God doesn't want you to do?

like specifically hanging out with your friends, but there's certain things where you have to give up where it becomes like an idol in a sense where you're putting it first. And I think that's something that you have to continually be and speaking to myself here is that I have to continually be conscious of what I'm making out to be an idol because an idol is just anything that you place above God. So for example, in terms of this renewing of your mind, if you always feel like you need coffee in the morning as an example.

Jethro Casie (04:47.668)
And that's the first thing you do before you go to God. Not to say that coffee is an idol, but it's like where your priorities at. And not to say that in a judgy way, but just, you know, way of thinking is like, am I really seeking first the kingdom of God? And I think that does look like truthfully like putting him first in a lot of things, if not, or in everything, ideally. Obviously we are humans and we make mistakes, but that's the number one part, the number two part.

First is spiritual growth and having an idea of what that looks like and desiring spiritual growth. And then two is renewing your mind. And then third is actually entering into the word of God because especially if you're a raised Christian or actually I don't think it matters if you're coming into the faith, whatever your access to Jesus looks like is it's probably very different than what the Bible teaches and what it says. And I realized that

While there are like commentaries, I've never personally used like commentaries. I'll definitely listen to different men and women of God. But I think the word of God interprets the word of God in a sense. I think having that firm foundation of people who ask like, where should you start within the Bible? And I just say like, read it like a book, like read it from Genesis, get the understanding, then Exodus and then Deuteronomy.

whatever the books are but reading the full course of the Bible and getting a good understanding it's not like and I think this is where you have to have the grace is that the Holy Spirit's not just gonna give you all this revelation all at once first he has to get through the physical part of of like your your spiritualness in a sense is he has to destroy all these physical strongholds before he even gets the

like the soul strongholds and then the spiritual strongholds. And I think with that, as you first read the Bible, it's probably going to be from a very physical perspective. But then as you obviously grow in the spirit and you draw closer to God, then you start to see the spiritual aspect. Then always keep in mind that the Bible is not just a physical book, but it's a spiritual book that is now physical. And then I think as you begin to do that, obviously you're going to have a lot of questions. And I think that's where

Jethro Casie (07:09.792)
you begin to either find somebody and we'll talk about more in that. actually just reading the word of God and getting a good understanding of that, because also in this spiritual fight that we are in, the thing that you use to your attack or your defense is the word of God. So without it, there's nothing. there's a reason why we have them. There's like an acronym where it says the Bible's basic instructions before leaving Earth, which I find to be funny, but maybe even true.

So the next part is entering into prayer. everybody in a sense, I feel like prays to something, right? A lot of people say that they don't pray or they do pray, but I believe that everybody's praying to something. And what prayer looks like as you grow in this journey is it looks like a little by little becomes a lot. And that's one of my favorite quotes is that

And I think this comes from the world in sense that we all want things fast. I think the Bible even says it, but the world says it as well in the sense of fast money comes with slower problems. But fast money, problems are gonna come in the future. And I think when you do things the right way, it is a little bit slower in a sense, but at the end of the day, you'll go faster and fart further in the long run.

So with prayer, think that one is understanding, and I'm still always growing in this understanding, and this is my journey, is understanding why should I be praying? Like what is the purpose of praying? Because when you first start out, it might look like prayer is taking time out of your day, when actually, as you grow in understanding, it's actually empowering your day and energizing your day. And then I think also with prayer is your heart posture and not doing it. And once you start,

It might be like this, but not doing it in a place of like your flesh and your physical. And this is something that you have to be like conscious of. In the sense I know that I'm personally praying in my flesh is when I'm more worried when I'm going to prayer because of outside forces. Like I'm praying because I feel like I need something, which isn't bad, but it's not praying to actually just spend time.

Jethro Casie (09:34.176)
with God and I think that's the true purpose of prayer is to be in relationship with him. The Bible says also something about like praying without ceasing. to me, I don't think God's, the word of God is telling us to continually be speaking and praying because obviously even Jesus himself had to speak to people. But there's, I believe a certain posture that you carry where your life becomes a prayer. And that's obviously like a level where it's like everything you do is a prayer onto God. Everything you do.

is thanksgiving. Everything you do is worship onto God. Because something I'm reminded of as I began working is working hardily as for the Lord, as not for men. I think with that, just having the conscious, or as we mentioned, the mindset to always be aware. And that's not something you start off with. That's something you might slip out of sometimes. having that awareness of, hey, like,

I could be in a state of prayer. can be a state of glorifying God, not just through what I say, but also through what I do. And then next, think, which is super important and as a part of my journey was I began to go church shopping, going around looking for different churches, seeing what community I felt like I was a part of. Because even though I were the body of Christ, there are different, like the New Testament, says,

that there's different ministrations like within the body of Christ. like one way somebody ministers onto you might not be the way that your spirit receives it. And even thinking about like the Old Testament, like how there's like the tribes, like everybody has their own tribe in a sense. Or this is what I believe, their own like spiritual tribe. So finding your own and putting yourself and surrounding yourself in a Christian environment. And I don't think it will be tough. And this is the reason why I put it third is because

If you were just to, I'm not saying this is bad, but this is just isn't the way I do it. So speaking from my experience, it's like, if you were just to get saved and you immediately joined a church, you might just be too much of like a spiritual baby to really understand, like, are these teachings like aligning with the word of God? Because if you've been for that one, you don't even have the spiritual mindset. So you might just be in a church that's like carnal and in terms of the carnal, but like there's no, like how Paul says, like I've been like,

Jethro Casie (11:59.754)
who's giving them spiritual baby food, but now it's time for them to have meat. So I think, and obviously it's a graduation process, I think as well, you don't start off as going straight to the meat, it's like a baby, you don't give them hard food to eat first, you give them something soft, malleable for them to eat. But I think the reason why I don't recommend immediately going and finding a church is because...

I think you need to spend that time with God to where you actually have an understanding of who God is for yourself and getting to know him through his word, knowing him through his prayer, not say you have to pray 30 minutes before you go to church, but having something more consistent than before and where your mind is renewed to where you can have more of these spiritual conversations where you can understand what your pastor is saying or whoever is leading you in the faith. But once you do,

And you start looking and you feel like you're at that point where you start praying and asking God for wisdom and guidance to find the best church for you. I think it's being patient with that and also understanding what you are looking for might not be what God has in store for you. And the reason why I say that is that my idea of Christianity was very different than what it is now. And I'm realizing, as I mentioned before, like it is

Like we are, the Bible calls us to worship God in spirit and in truth. So I think keeping in mind that this religion isn't just like a physical religion, but it's a spiritual religion. think mostly all other religions are, but more so in Christianity, because we're literally with the father of spirits or the Holy Spirit is the pons. And then, yeah, I think last and most importantly on your journey to faith, and this is something, obviously all these steps are continually growing. Like you're still.

always growing in your spiritual growth and your mindset and renewing of your mind. You're still always getting deeper into the word of God. And I promise you, there's no, you'll never fully understand this God that we serve, but there's revelation upon revelation upon revelation. And you're always growing in prayer and what your prayer life can be. And you're always getting in better Christian environments, running around people who are more faithful to God, people who are at a higher spiritual level than you, just like in the world where it's you can be around people who are making more money than you or in better shape than you or

Jethro Casie (14:20.768)
more emotionally well or in better relationship than you and you can learn from them. And I think last and most importantly for my journey, what it has been is mentorship, is finding a man or a woman of God or multiple people who can grow you in the faith. To me, the idea of spiritual fatherhood seems pretty clear in the Bible in the sense of where Paul's talking to Timothy and calls him my son or I raised up somebody else in the faith. So finding that spiritual mentor.

onto you, to guide you, to teach you, to give you revelation, to give you perspective, to honestly cover you in prayer and watch over you. And I think that's the journey of faith, part two. It starts off with your spiritual growth and knowing that and desiring, I believe, like spiritual gifts as well.

on this journey of spiritual growth and not having and not limiting God and what he can do. Not say that everything that is spiritual is of God, because it's definitely not, but not limiting God in terms of what he can do in your life, because God can only do if you have faith and have belief. And I'm reminded of Peter walking on water and it says, like, as soon as he took his eyes off Christ, that's when he fell. But God is still gracious and merciful to hold us up in that case and not allow us to drown.

in Jesus name, the episode is done. God bless you guys.
