Have you ever wondered how or why the Lord has us honoring our father and our mother and listening to them? Well, I believe in Proverbs chapter six, it reveals the mystery behind why it's so important to honor your parents. If you're to this channel or podcast, my name is Jethro Casey. This is Kingdom Secrets to Success and the show focused on revealing kingdom mysteries and kingdom secrets empower you to walk in the power of the Holy Spirit. So we've been doing
a day, a chapter a day of Proverbs and we're here in verse six, so we'll dive straight into it. And I'm just really blessed to be here with you all. And before we dive into it, we will open up in prayer. So Father, we come to you in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus. Father God, we thank you for this day. We thank you, Lord, for your goodness, for your mercy. Father God, your word says that your mercy renews every morning. Father God, I thank you, Lord, for your faithfulness, for your wisdom. Thank you for.
leading whoever you need to be here to listen to this word. Father God, I thank you for the reading of Proverbs. I thank you for the wisdom that is being imparted into us, I pray that we will just be faithful with the word that you have given us and that this word will enter into our hearts and change us in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus. So gonna put my glasses on and we will get straight into reading it. So Proverbs chapter six, I've been reading the GNT for some reason, but it says, my child, my child.
It says first, the title of the section is more warnings. So the book of Proverbs is a book of warnings, promises and plants. That's how the word of God is in general, but specifically in Proverbs, wisdom isn't just knowing what to do, but it's also knowing what not to do. My child, have you promised to be responsible for someone else's debts? Have you been caught by your own words, trapped by your own promises? Well, then my child, you are in that person's power.
But this is how you get out of it. Hurry to him and beg him to release you. Don't let yourself go to sleep or even stop to rest. Get out of the trap like a bird or deer escaping from a hunter. Lazy people should learn a lesson from the way ants live. They have no leader, chief, or ruler, but they store up their food during the summer, getting ready for winter. How long is the lazy man going to lie around? When is he ever going to get up?
Jethro Casie (02:28.556)
I'll just take a short nap, he says. I fold my hands and rest a while, but while he sleeps, poverty will attack him like an armed robber. Worthless, wicked people go around telling lies. They wink and make gestures to the sea view, all the while planning in their perverted minds, stirring up trouble everywhere. Because of this, disaster will strike them without warning, and they will be fatally wounded.
There are seven things that the Lord hates and cannot tolerate. I remember I was shocked when I read this. A proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people, a mind that thinks up wicked plans, feet that hurry off to do evil, a witness who tells one lie after another, and someone who stirs up trouble among friends. A warning against idolatry, verse 20. Son.
Do what your father tells you and never forget what your mother taught you. Keep their words with you always locked in your heart. Their teaching will lead you when you travel, protect you at night and advise you during the day. Their instructions are a shining light. Their correction can teach you how to live. It can keep you away from bad women, from the seductive words of other men's wives. Don't be tempted by their beauty. Don't be trapped by their flirting eyes.
A man can hire a prostitute for the price of a loaf of bread, but idolatry will cost him all he has. Can you carry fire against your chest without burning your clothes? Can you walk on hot coals without burning your feet? It's just as dangerous to sleep with another man's wife. Whoever does it will suffer. That's a promise. People don't despise a thief if he steals food when he is hungry. Yet if he is caught, he must pay back seven times more.
He must give up everything he has, but a man who commits adultery doesn't have any sense. He is just destroying himself. He will be dishonored and beaten up. He will be permanently disgraced. A husband is never anger than when he is jealous. His revenge knows no limits. He will not accept any payment. No amount of gifts will satisfy his anger. Father God, we thank you for the reading of your word and let's dive straight into, actually want to touch upon
Jethro Casie (04:50.69)
the jealousy piece because I feel like in the world, women's jealousy is always highlighted or women's anger of like, you know, that's my man, but it's never really talked about like what happens.
Jethro Casie (05:07.554)
And it's never really talked about about what happens for when a man is cheated on. It says for jealousy is the rage of a man. Therefore in the KJV, therefore he will not spare in the day of vengeance. Meaning that this man is going to get vengeance and you know how evil and wicked people can be and says that his revenge will know no limits. He will not accept any payment. No amount of gifts will satisfy his anger. And you know, there's a there's a word.
There's a verse that talks about there's like a certain sin. forgetting what it is now, but I think it is like blaspheme the Holy Spirit. That that's the sin that won't be forgiven. And it's just like against people, how much more for people who are flawed, who need forgiveness themselves, like how much harder is it? is for other people to forgive them, especially for something like this. the word that I wanted to get to was, and we'll dive into most of the chapter, but
in chapter six, verses 20 to 23. I'll read it in the KJV and the GNT, but it says, my son, keep thy father's commandments and forsake not the law of thy mother. Bind them continually upon thy heart and tie them about thy neck, which is something that we saw earlier in Proverbs, I believe chapter three as well. But here's what I wrote down. When you obey, actually let me keep reading.
22, when thou goest, it shall lead thee, and when thou sleepest, it shall keep thee, and when thou awakeest, it shall talk with thee. Meaning your father's commandments and the law that your mother has given you. In the KJV, or in the GNC, says their instructions are a shining light. Their correction can teach you how to live. And I have here, when you obey the commandments from God given to your father.
And the law, which is a light from your mother. And these are both things that are given from God. And, know, I was wondering like, Lord, what about people who, you know, don't have a biological father and mother, but there's always somebody in your life who is a father figure is a mother figure, whether you've ever met them before, or just somebody you listen to online. But
Jethro Casie (07:19.374)
It says that once these commandments and these law are inside of you, they are upon your heart and tied around your neck, meaning you're going to remember it. Like the reason why I wear this cross is like as a form of remembrance. So it's saying to hold onto what your mom teaches you, the law of your mother in the same way.
Jethro Casie (07:40.033)
And I put here that it's a light from your mother, which is in your thoughts. And that that's how they can speak to you. Cause it's not like you're literally going to hear your mother's voice speaking to you. Maybe some people will be like, uh, clean up your room when your room is dirty, whatever the case is. But it says, keep their words in your heart. And what I thought was interesting was that in the 23 in the KJV, says for the commandment is a lamp.
And the law is a light. And the light here is obviously for your soul, since we know that this is going to be something that's talking to you. I wrote down us being the light of the world, as it says in the New Testament, starts with our souls, because the way like when you see people and if you're a prophetic or if you just have the mind of Christ is that you see people.
not like physically, but also spiritually. Like you see the gloominess or you see the light that's upon people. And just like how people will see that light upon us if we're walking in what we're supposed to as believers, that we will be the light of the world. And that light stems from our soul because what needs saving is our soul, right? Our spirit is already from God. Our spirit's good. Our spirit's perfect, but it's our soul that needs to be perfected. And
The renewing of your mind is also a position where this light comes in. This light comes, the light of Christ came into you to renew your mind and to save your soul. And this is the revelation that I got because this lamp is also referenced in Psalm 119, 105, where it says, paraphrasing here, but the word of God is a lamp upon your feet. And I was like, huh, is this the same word in Hebrew? And it turned out it is. And with the word of God being a lamp upon your feet.
And the revelation is that when we honor our father and mother and listen to their commandments that they've given us, not to say all their commandments are from the Lord, right? But when you listen to their commandments, it's similar. And that's the reason why the Lord asked us to honor them is because it's similar to the, it's literally the same word that the Lord is using in terms of that lamp being upon your feet, that light being upon your feet. It's the same way that the word of God is.
Jethro Casie (10:00.012)
what the commandments of your father and mother, which I thought was, is deep. And this is because the commandments is how the views his word. Even when we got in, when we got the 10 commandments and all the Levitical commandments and all this stuff, right? All the law, the Lord held that such a high standard for himself where it's like, if you're breaking this, you're going against me.
Jethro Casie (10:26.24)
And the lamp here isn't just a 21st century lamp, but it's one that uses oil and oil is represented represented by the Holy Spirit and the anointing. So only when this lamp has oil because it says right for the commandment is a lamp. But what allows a lamp to be like turned on in your life is the amount of oil or back then is the amount of oil that you put into it. So when you are filled with the Holy Spirit.
when you're fellowshiping with the Holy Spirit, when you're understanding the Holy Spirit, drawn closer onto Him through the word that your parents have given you, the commandment, the law, is that He will begin to minister to you and that your oil will begin, the oil that you have that He's given you will begin to be a light as well. And just to touch upon the beginning, because I think it's really important that we understand.
Thank you, Jesus. And I had mentioned this in the beginning of this teaching, but this chapter, half of it is literally a warning against foolishness. And it's sometimes that what we're focused on is that wisdom isn't just in the good things, but as I mentioned, and also the bad things, the things that you shouldn't be doing. it's not necessarily always you need more information on Lord.
What do I need to be doing next? Cause sometimes you already know what you need to do, but it's now allowing your soul to actually follow your spirit. But other times that your soul doesn't have the information on what looks like bad. Cause they're literally warning their son here for a specific reason. And if this is Solomon speaking, it's because he's went through that himself. And imagine just setting up your life by using wisdom to identify not only the good things in your life, but also the things that you shouldn't be doing the bad things.
How much more fulfilled of a life you live. I can say for myself that what's holding me back isn't what I know what to do, but it's what I know I shouldn't be doing and I'm still doing. And it talks about this in verses six through 11. And this was my struggle. Sometimes still is my struggle, especially going from full-time at a job to full-time entrepreneurship is.
Jethro Casie (12:45.525)
working just working hard and not having working hard but sleeping in sleeping too much thinking that I'll just do this later you know like literally what it says a little bit more sleep a little folding of the hands let me let me read it exactly because I think the people of God need to hear this and like over and over because that sometimes the you're not just gonna receive a word and enter and enter your heart when your soul just here at once because think about how many times
Maybe you've heard from your parents, I can share this personally is that if I ask my mom, you know, I have stuff to do or whatever is the case. And this like growing up is that, know, I'll sleep in. It's okay. Just sleep in. It's okay. don't worry about it. Just rest. You can do later. And this is literally programming your soul because the word says as a man thinketh and his heart so is he. But says go to the ant thou sluggard. You're lazy. That lazy person.
Consider her ways and be wise. So there's a wisdom even we can find in animals, which is obvious, but also takes the spiritual insight. Cause if you like, if you look at a dog, a dog's best friends, what do dogs do? Usually, at least the ones that we call our best friends that they greet you with energy and smile. And like, if you even think about ministry in terms like churches, what makes somebody feel welcome into church is your amount of energy towards that person is like how you're greeting them. So there's a wisdom that we can find in animals, but anyway.
but says they have no guide, overseer or ruler. Meaning that when you're, for example, like in the nine to five, I had somebody overseeing me, I had a manager and I was able to work really hard without even the manager. Like it was not like a work ethic question. This might be relatable to many of you. But it's now that when I'm by myself where I don't have this overseer or ruler except God and God's not going to be like, do this now. you know, like give me every step-by-step thing that I should be doing after use wisdom for that.
But it says that the ants provide her meat, their work in the summer and gather food in the harvest. And what I'm realizing is that as we're in the summer right now, and the summer is coming to end, and I reflect, I'm unhappy with the work that I put in. Was I truly like preparing for the winter, the time that's going to come, because there is going to be a tougher time in life and in general. And I would ask you this as well. It's like, have you taken the most out of the summer? Have you truly prepared?
Jethro Casie (15:12.256)
As the as the word says, like, have you been doing what the ants have been doing and taking the wisdom from them in terms of like your work ethic? Because it says, how long without sleep, sluggard, when will thou rise out of that sleep? And I've been at fault of, you know, five more minutes, 10 more minutes. But that is, you know, I came back from like a real estate conference for like half a day. You talked about on your left side, there's this consumer mind or what I like to think of like your old you.
the one that wants to hold you down. And there's like the greatest version of yourself that's talking, but you have to, this voice is so much louder than this voice. This voice is like a whisper and you have to train this voice to get louder and louder and louder until the voice on your left becomes smaller. And that's, I guess, similar to like angel, like where there's in cartoons, like the angel on one shoulder, the devil on the other shoulder. But it's also that like sensitivity to wisdom, to the spirit. When you feel like you should be sleeping more,
Check that feeling. Where does that feeling come from? And something I've done is asking like, what would the greatest version of myself do? What would this voice say? Because this voice wants to sleep in, but we know that yet a little sleep, a little slumber, a little bit of folding hands, you know, feeling comfy. And so shall that poverty come as one that travaileth and that your wants will be so much, but because you've been
Lacking to do work. You'll never get anything you want and I think that's really the problem with many believers and I was asking the Lord Where does this stem from like why are people lazy? Because I don't even think that people are lazy with I guess I talk for myself, but I don't think people are lazy in the sense of They don't want to do anything because you're not lazy with Netflix you're not lazy with Eating food you're not lazy with like certain things in your life that give you joy
like scrolling social media, XYZ, watching YouTube videos. You're not lazy probably at your job, you're able to get your work done. But it's when it comes to the personal things, specifically like the work that the Lord has given us. And maybe that's just due to it's more important. So there's more spiritual battles, but we know that the God is with us and that if he's for us, who can be against us? So what is the issue? And the Lord gave me that.
Jethro Casie (17:36.322)
That sometimes it's not because of laziness specifically, but it's due to a lack of faith. Because faith is the substance of things hope for. And what I realized is that, at least for myself in reality, and maybe this relates to you as well, is that when I lose hope, when I forget why I'm doing things, that when I'm lacking belief,
That is when the mountain in my life seems immovable. That just justifies. man, this is kind of hard. Let me just go to sleep a little longer. Like sleep away your problems, which doesn't work. And that's because you've lost faith. You've seen this mountain, you thought it could be immovable. You thought that sleeping would make things easier when in reality it makes things harder.
And I just want to quickly touch around versus one through five, because it talks about and gives wisdom around debt. What I learned is that there's good debt and there's bad debt. Good debt is things that you take on for assets. Bad debt is consumer debt. Anything like credit card debt. It depends even credit card debt could be ex like considering good debt, depending on what you're leveraging it for. But anyway.
It's warning us. And what I learned is that receiving is not necessarily. To guarantee some it's warning us to receive Jesus.
Jethro Casie (19:13.432)
that the warning that we are receiving is not to guarantee someone else's debt and that your words, the words that you speak can actually trap you. Meaning that the words that you speak can also like push you forward into your life. Cause when I read the word, it's not just seeing what the word actually says, but what's the opposite as well. Not all the time, depends on the context, but.
Also seeing like, can I use this to benefit me? Where's the wisdom in this on the opposite side?
And it's that bad that whether it's yours or another's makes it so that is in power over your life. And getting out of the situation only requires one thing or two things, which is first the wisdom to understand the situation that you're in, but also the humility that will require you to crush your pride and crush your ego. And the good news translation that we read, it says literally to beg.
which is a humble piece of pie. And before we end off, I just want to touch upon the seven abominations that the Lord hates, because my idea of God growing up was that, you know, God just loves everybody and everything. But when the word of God says hates, I'm like, hate is a strong word. Like even I don't feel like I hate everything. And maybe that's a baby mindset. But
Because the fear of the Lord it talks about in Proverbs and we'll get there eventually. But the fear of the Lord is not only to run away from evil, but also to hate what the Lord hates and love what he loves. And I'll just read these again. And if these, you know, sit right with your spirit and you like, this is okay, then, you know, maybe there's some checking of your soul. Your spirit is like, how aligned are you with what the Lord, with who the Lord is? It says there are seven things that the Lord hates and cannot tolerate.
Jethro Casie (21:11.136)
A proud look. And I just want to clarify that just because God hates something doesn't mean that he doesn't love the person, right? Because it's not the person he's hating. It's what they're doing that he hates. So just to make that distinction, it says a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people, a mind that thinks of wicked plans, feet that hurry off to do evil. Lord Jesus, help us.
A witness who tells one lie after another and someone who stirs up trouble among friends. You know, I'm not sure exactly why the Lord hates us, but what I would assume is that it goes against who he is. You know, many of the times we as humans, hate what we don't understand, but God understands everything. But we know that God has a character and a nature of who he is, who he has revealed himself to be unto us.
So anything against that nature, because God is not proud. God is not a liar. So it makes sense why he would hate that. It's like, you're not doing what I've created you to be. You're not even being in the image when you're doing these things. The Lord can't even identify who you are because you don't look like him. Not to say maybe this is extreme, but not to say you don't bear his image or you're or no longer. Like you're always made in his image, but there's a difference between it made in the image of someone because you can have a child.
a son or daughter who is born looking like you, but people can alter themselves, whether through makeup, through literally surgery, through X, Y, Z, through even the clothes that they're wearing that cover up, cover them up to look like someone who you haven't, who didn't come from you. I'd say they didn't come through, but they look like someone who didn't come for me. I think that's truly what the Lord is coming against here is that doing these things, having a proud look, a lying tongue, hands that kill innocent people, a mind that thinks up wicked plans.
Because the word of God says, thank you, Jesus, the word of God. Thank you, Holy Spirit. The word of God says that the plans I have for you are to prosper you, that you will have a hope in the future, not of evil. So this goes against literally what the word of God says. And that's the issue. That's why he can't tolerate it. So I would just do a quick prayer for us that we will work hardily as for the Lord and not for men. Like truly that that that verse will be inside of us that we will.
Jethro Casie (23:35.969)
Be mindful of the way that the ants are. I just want to say this before we go is that God is merciful, guys. Like, I'm not perfect, but I still have hope. There's some times where I lose hope, honestly. And if you guys have looked through the, maybe not on YouTube is the best example, but on Spotify, the times that I posted when I haven't posted it's because I was being lazy. Most importantly, it's because I kind of lost hope in the vision. I know my hope will always come back, but going back to yesterday, what I said is enduring and enduring to the end, knowing that there's going to be a trial by fire.
But the word says and the Lord says, and he's telling you now that in your weakness, he is made strong, that he is perfected, that he will perfect you in your weakness. Give those things onto the Lord. Work hardily as for him, not for men. You're not doing your work, whatever that work may be for man, but onto the Lord. And when you do that faithfully with belief, no doubt the Lord will move a mountain in your life. So Father, I just come to you in the mighty and powerful name of Jesus. I pray that.
Your people will have a piercing revelation that we are just called to work hardily as for you and not for men as it says in Colossians. That we will be mindful of the wisdom that you have deposited in this word and even in the things around this. Father God, I pray that you will open our eyes to see that everything around this has a piece of wisdom that you can speak in all things, Lord Jesus. Father God, we thank you for your word and we'll be back in Jesus name, we'll be back.
tomorrow with another episode. God bless.
