Ep 6---
Welcome to Episode 6 of the Voices Of Boyle Podcast!
Today we're joined by Mr. Pat Murphy! Pat is originally from Dundalk in Co. Louth and he is, in his own words, a Boyle "blow in!" Pat has been living here in town for the past 5 years with his partner Geraldine.
Pat has been on a journey that not many people get to experience in life and it's this adventure that forms the bulk of our chat today.
We take things back to the year 1999 when Pat and his wife Olivia set sail on a 4 year circumnavigation of the world in their beloved sail boat. The trip ended up taking 9 years in total and the experiences the couple had are worthy of a movie!
We talk about;
- The reasons for doing the trip
- The logistics of planning
- Swimming with crocodiles in the Panama Canal
- Spending time with a tribal family during a 9 day storm
- Travelling through Pirate Alley off the coast of Somolia
- The highs and lows of being on a boat for such long periods of time
