In this episode of Dad Like a Seahorse, I have a great conversation with Jon Camp about what being a father means to him. He explores the differences between his relationship with his two biological kids who live on the west coast and his stepson. We explore the idea of becoming friends with our kids - how does that happen and what would that look like? Jon Camp was born in Seattle, Washington and spent years moving around the country. After receiving a bachelor's degree in Political Science from Yale and a Master's degree in Journalism from Syracuse, he started a career as a television news reporter that took him across the country. Starting at WWNY in Watertown, NY, he moved on to KESQ in Palm Springs, WFSB in Hartford, Connecticut, WMTW in Portland, Maine and finally ABC11 in Raleigh, North Carolina. Jon’s last position in TV news was Managing Editor of the I-Team. He earned multiple Emmys along the way and moderated both U.S. Senatorial and Congressional debates. Jon left the news in 2017 and now runs a video production company, Ever Living Memories, helping families and individuals share and preserve their most important memories and moments (www.everlivingmemories.com). Jon's an accomplished singer/songwriter and loves mountain biking, hiking, camping, and all things outdoors. He also loves reading up on history and painting. He lives in Raleigh with his fiancé and step son. His two biological kids live in California.
