In this Episode of Dad Like a Seahorse, I talk to North Carolina-based Songwriter/Teacher Jonathan Byrd about his journey from being a kid in the Navy to being an awesome Dad to his twelve year old son, Rowan. We explore what it will be for Rowan to starting living life without school & how different that growing up experience will be from Jonathan's own teen years in school. For more than twenty years, I’ve made my living writing, recording, publishing, and licensing my own songs. I’ve won awards- my personal favorite being the Kerrville New Folk award in 2003 with fellow winners Anais Mitchell, writer of the multiple Tony Awards® winning “Hadestown”, and Colin Brooks of the Band of Heathens- and I’ve been covered by great artists like Sam Bush, Larry Keel, and Red Molly.
