SPEAKER_06

Welcome to another edition of the Motorcycle Mayhem Radio Podcast, hosted by Johnny Rizto, where we talk about everything motorcycle, from tips on safe riding to apparel and accessories, to where the next events are and everything in between. So, let's mount up and ride. Hey Johnny, where are we going this time?

SPEAKER_03

What's up, everybody? What's up, Long Island? What's up, by Miss Pat?

SPEAKER_02

Hey Johnny, what's going on?

SPEAKER_03

How are you doing tonight? Doing okay. You look swifty over there again. Yeah.

SPEAKER_02

What is swifty?

SPEAKER_03

I don't know. Did you ride today in this beautiful weather?

SPEAKER_02

I did ride today.

SPEAKER_03

It was nasty yesterday, boy. I gotta tell you. Yesterday was a rough day, right? Oh my god.

SPEAKER_02

You're on the bike, yeah. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So what's going on? You rode your Kawasaki yesterday? I wrote uh today.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, I rode it today. It was chilly this morning, though.

SPEAKER_03

So we got Crow. What's going on back in the studio? Michael Crow. Thank you. They still make those?

SPEAKER_02

They certainly do make those.

SPEAKER_03

They got a whole lot of them in the back. They're not the park in the front.

SPEAKER_02

They gotta park in the back. Yeah, all you gotta do is go to Sunrise, Cross Bay Motors. They sell a whole bunch.

SPEAKER_03

Oh yeah? Yeah. I don't remember getting paid by them. Do you? Do you remember getting paid by them?

SPEAKER_02

I don't remember getting paid by them.

SPEAKER_03

No. I had the Vulcan. Yeah, that's right. That's what I'm saying. The Vulcan was a nice bike back in the day. We'll say that.

SPEAKER_02

It still is. That's what I have.

SPEAKER_03

Do you? Yeah. I don't even know. It's green. That's all I know.

SPEAKER_04

They made uh 500 to 750 back in the 80s.

SPEAKER_02

Yeah, mine's a 900. Nice.

SPEAKER_03

A 900? Yeah, right. So we got from the Long Island bait. We got Mr. Chris back into the house. What's up, Chris?

SPEAKER_01

What's going on, Johnny?

SPEAKER_03

Well, we got a full show tonight, man.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So we got anything going on over there, Chris? What's happening in the motorcycle world on Long Island?

SPEAKER_01

Oh, it's it's game on. We got so much stuff going on. We got a lot of events coming up. We're planning, actually, we planned our uh safety and awareness run, which is going to happen on the 26th of April, which will kick off Motorcycle Awareness Month, which is May, which in case you don't know. Um, and then that's it. We have a lot of different uh events coming up. We got scheduled uh meetings to attend, we do one-on-one presentations at various clubs and riding groups, kind of give them a personalized view as to what Long Island Bait's really about. I mean, they see the tent out and about, they don't really know the depth of that we go to in the community and what we do for the community, so it gives us an opportunity to explain that to them.

SPEAKER_03

The tent is everywhere. You see that yellow tent everywhere, and you know that Chris, Josephine, or even Pat might be there. So stop by and say hello. So, you know what? You guys are out there every week doing your thing, man, trying to spread the word about motorcycle safety. But what do you think the biggest problem is, Crow? The cell phone? What do you think it is?

SPEAKER_04

No, right now it's the potholes of the A-holes.

SPEAKER_03

Amen. It is a rough time of year. Oh man. The craters. The craters, even in my truck, man, I get that like, oh my gosh.

SPEAKER_01

I saw one for rent the other day. It was a two-bedroom.

SPEAKER_03

Did you really? Yeah. I actually saw somebody eating cereal out of one.

unknown

Crazy.

SPEAKER_03

But you know what? There's a lot going on. And these potholes are a problem. So if you're out there and you see one, what do you report it to you, Chris? What do you do?

SPEAKER_01

Well, we have a couple of uh different links put up on the website as well as on our Facebook group. But you can usually get a hold of the 1-800 pothole. And then I think there's a click it to fix or pick uh click it to fix um app on your phone where you take a picture of it, see where it is, and send it in. And uh, you know, you gotta compl you gotta you gotta come, you know, you gotta record it, otherwise it doesn't get done. Yeah, you gotta report it. And if if it doesn't get reported, people don't even know it's there, even though everybody else knows it's there. The officials and the municipalities don't know, you know.

SPEAKER_04

Chris, I have a question for you. If somebody was to uh get a flat or bust up their rim, can you report it and get reimbursed from the state or the county?

SPEAKER_01

Only certain time of the year. The winter months are black are blacked out, so you can't actually get compensated unless there's multiple um occurrences or injury.

SPEAKER_03

Is that a safety thing?

SPEAKER_01

They don't they blacking it out because they don't want you riding those months? No, they black it out because they don't want to pay out on it because they know the roads are crap that time of the year. Right. So what is it after May? It's actually, I believe it's April, but I'll get back to you on that in the next segment.

SPEAKER_03

So they can they can actually say to you, you know, you were riding off peak, this you might we're not getting money.

SPEAKER_01

It's not a matter of riding, it's just in general. Um if you hit a pothole in July and it's been reported and not repaired, you you can get compensation for it, whether you're in a car or on a bike.

SPEAKER_03

Oh.

SPEAKER_01

You know, so it's not just motorcycle specific.

SPEAKER_03

So the the if you're out there and you hit a pothole, you dent your rim, wait until July before you report you report the pothole, and then you then you go.

SPEAKER_01

Actually, if you're real smart, you'll get the wheel and tire package. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

They have that when you buy a bike, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, they do.

SPEAKER_03

Is that true the insurance company? Is that true when you buy the bike?

SPEAKER_01

No, all they had that. Well, they have like a company that does it. It's like it's like an insurance company. Right, right. You know the aftermarket warranties and stuff.

SPEAKER_03

Which is very uh, you know, it's a good idea to get it if you live on Long Island.

SPEAKER_01

In New York, yeah. It's not a win for the company, that's for sure. For the owner, unfortunately.

SPEAKER_03

That's gotta be bad. If you dent the rim, especially like on the fat boy, like a solid rim. You dent one of those bad boys, you know you hit a hole.

SPEAKER_01

Sure.

SPEAKER_03

You know, if you hit it hard enough, you'll be getting colouring books for Christmas for the rest of your life. You know what I'm saying? So that's bad.

SPEAKER_01

That explains Christmas in your house.

SPEAKER_03

Hey, I love Bugs Bunny, but I gotta tell you, he's a great actor, I tell you, he's a great actor. You know, I miss him, you know. So yeah, so Crow, man, you've been gone, you've been gone for a while. What have you been doing? I uh they just released me.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

I know you were sick. You didn't have COVID, did you? No, I got banged up just physically. Age. A little transition year. Yeah? Listen, we'll get it later in life. You just get that transition year where they're where your body catches up to the number.

SPEAKER_03

You know, that's no lie, man. I mean, if you can hurt yourself when you're in bed, yes, that's a bad thing. I've done that. I've hurt myself in bed. The worst is getting those cramps in your in your leg.

SPEAKER_04

Well, Johnny, I mean, if you're treating your body like an amusement park.

SPEAKER_03

Woo-hoo! It's party time over here.

SPEAKER_04

Oh my god. I don't know. But no, it's it's all good. I was a little banged up, the back, the knee. But no, I'm I'm good. As a matter of fact, I rode last weekend. It was interesting. You guys familiar with uh um NYC moto motor group?

SPEAKER_01

Moto meetups, yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, moto meetups. Okay. So I've been following them for the last six, seven months. I went last month, I said hello to them. They were they usually meet in Fort Lee.

SPEAKER_03

That's not when Williams.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, Thomas, okay. Yeah, what what an awesome bunch of people, man. Yeah, it was good and Harley's, Indians, Triumphs, BMW. I didn't hate to say Kawasaki. You know, I didn't say Kawasaki. No, no disrespect, but that's why I asked you. Um, but good bunch of guys, and it's organized very well. And so I went this last uh Saturday, and we did a ride up uh from Fort Lee up 9W to the Palisades to 17, nice up to the Catskills. That's a great ride. About 70 bikes, and these guys they rode well. They break it up, and Chris, you'd you'd appreciate this. What they what he said in his meeting is look, we got the guys who like to go fast. All right, and he goes, You guys will be up front. After a couple of minutes, the second group, guys who do maybe 10, 15 miles over the speed limit. Right, and then we got the third group. These guys, maybe they're high or you know, a little hungover from the night before. They do 40, 45, but they think they're doing 160. Uh but it was nice, you know.

SPEAKER_03

Pictures and because you know what, when you when you're in a group like that and you don't know these people, everybody rides different.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

So, you know, it's it's not how how careful you are, correct? It's exact also how careful they are. And you gotta keep your eyes open because somebody might cut right in front of you. No, they didn't.

SPEAKER_04

They stayed, they staggered. They um I was pleasantly surprised.

SPEAKER_03

Right. I did a ride to Myrtle Beach years ago, back in like 2009. Four of us, we rode down there. We started out, we never really rode together, right? By the end of the trip, we all knew what the other guy's thinking, which is an awesome thing. You look fascinating, you know, and that's what it is. And that's why they say, like something like Daytona Bike Week or something, it's amateur week.

SPEAKER_05

Right.

SPEAKER_03

Because everybody's out there, they're dying to get out of their bikes. It's March, the summer's, you know, round the corner is the first official bike week of the season. They're jumping on their bike and they never rode with other people before. Right. So you got somebody who's just, you know, in and out of the lane. You know, you gotta learn how to stay staggered and stay there.

SPEAKER_01

Yes. Right? Yeah. That's a big thing when you do like large fundraisers and stuff like that. Absolutely. So usually most people try to stay within their group, or they're like you said earlier, they'll break up into different groups because of the skill level and the experience.

SPEAKER_03

You gotta be careful to be there. So you know, you you you can't blink sometimes because you gotta watch out for those brake lights in front of you, and you have to know your bike and how it's gonna stop, and you gotta know the people around you. It's tough.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I mean? It really is. And you want to ride tight enough that you don't have cars coming in between.

SPEAKER_03

Well, that's the big thing, too.

SPEAKER_04

The balancing act.

SPEAKER_03

You know, if you're in a if you're in a car though, and you see all these bikes, you're you're stupid to try to get in the middle of all this. And I we've experienced that plenty of times. We did a ride with um, who's the the the guys that did the guys who don't drink, the booze guys?

SPEAKER_02

Um the Alliance.

SPEAKER_03

Alliance. We did a ride down, I think it was two, three years ago. And this pickup truck was just trying to get right in on the ocean parkway. And we had state troopers with us. And this guy was fighting the one of the guys actually fist fighting with the guy through the window. He's on his bike, you know? It's like it's not worth it. This guy tried, and the state trooper finally caught up to him and pulled him on. Like, what are you doing? You can't wait three minutes, honestly. You know what I mean? It's it's scary enough sometimes. Pat, you're involved in a lot of these rides.

SPEAKER_02

Yes. No, that's that's the thing, because like I said, you gotta know, like what Chris says, is you gotta first off, you're doing a group ride, you have to know how to ride with other people. Right. It's it's a different style of riding than when you're by yourself. And that's true. When you're doing a group ride, you you assume when you have state troopers and all the police and all the escorts, so people are gonna behave and listen.

SPEAKER_03

Right. A lot of people don't. They don't. I've seen that during one of the uh D. Snyder runs. Sure. This guy went up on the curb to come around and walk around the bike. Are you crazy? What's wrong with you?

SPEAKER_04

The pro the problem also, and Chris, I think you'll agree, is that uh people in cages they don't know. They don't know it should be part of the DMV pamphlet in the manual explaining uh about about bikes and how bikers will ride in a group. But they exactly sometimes what it means. You know, it could be a fundraiser, it could be a service, you know, going to a uh a cemetery, yeah, what have you. But no mention of it in that DMV manual.

SPEAKER_03

Absolutely. But we're gonna get more of this when we come back from commercial real quick. So I am Johnny Rizzo, you're listening to Most Like a Meghem Radio, and with Irish Pat, we got the crow.

unknown

Ah!

SPEAKER_03

Back in Junior, Bait Chris Bacons, for a long on the bait, and we will be right back right after this.

SPEAKER_03

All right, we are back in cool. I gotta tell you, this is bad. I mean bad in a good way. I was gonna say bad, but but banana espresso.

SPEAKER_04

Banana espresso, holy crap. And now you put a little bourbon in that?

SPEAKER_01

Oh my god, you're gonna kick it. I was gonna make fun of you guys until you said the bourbon part because you were picking on Kawasaki's, but that sounded like like a very manly drink. No, this would be Until you put bourbon in it, and then you just call my my bluffs. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

This, when you put bourbon in this, it would be woo. Do I have bourbon here?

SPEAKER_04

I think I did it.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, I think you did drink it all. I think. No. You got a lot of vodka.

SPEAKER_04

Well, just an FYI, FYI. Um, one of the reasons why I was busy and haven't been around is we're out of bourbon.

SPEAKER_03

That's what it is. There you go. Crow came in here one day, there was no bourbon, so he left. It's like Crow repellent. It happens. It happens.

SPEAKER_01

So you want to elaborate on something, Nick Will? Yeah, we were talking about, you know, the mandatoriness of uh, you know, talking about motorcycle awareness and stuff during the driver's ed classes. It's actually a law, it's actually in the driver's ed classes, but to get it in like the defensive driving or even the licensing handbook, it's gonna require some lobbying and some involvement with legislative um people to get this written into like a law where it's required. As of right now, like he like Crow was saying, he he puts his own personal experience into it, but it's not part of the curriculum. So we have to work with the per people that write the curriculum because curriculum has to get approved from New York State also for them to approve the program, they have to approve what's in it.

SPEAKER_05

Right.

SPEAKER_01

So if for if we got together with people that write the program and they we threw a little motorcycle stuff in there, they then New York State has to approve it. Once it's approved, then we can get it out there.

SPEAKER_03

Right, right.

SPEAKER_01

But there's more than one company doing it too, so you know we have to work on that as well.

SPEAKER_03

Right. So it's it's a long way to get something approved, it sounds like it certainly is.

SPEAKER_01

And that's when you go to Washington, right?

SPEAKER_03

Is that when you go to Washington?

SPEAKER_01

No, that's that's not that's that's nationally. Washington is national. Albany. Albany, it would be Albany, it'd be local legislators. First, you gotta find a legislator or a uh a senator that's willing to write the bill. Right. And then you gotta get approval, it's gotta go through the house and all that stuff here on Long Island in New York.

SPEAKER_03

Wow.

SPEAKER_01

You know, and then you know, then it becomes law, and then New York State, this is what you do. Yeah. You know, so that it's a long and involved process, absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

Well, it's fantastic what you do. We got the bike parking now out here.

SPEAKER_01

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Right? So we got motorcycle parking.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, clean pass parking anywhere in Suffolk County. Uh you you can park where electric vehicle is because motorcycles are considered clean pass, so you can park in there as well now.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that's nice. Except for Kawasaki, they gotta go to the back, right? Sorry, bad. I was like, geez, I can't win.

SPEAKER_02

You're on fire tonight with the Kawasaki. I mean, my gosh.

SPEAKER_03

But you're right, though. You do you do ride a lot. You do.

SPEAKER_01

I do.

SPEAKER_03

I will say that that you do ride. Mine's still sitting in the chair.

SPEAKER_01

I was going to say almost as much as Johnny doesn't.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

You know, you can make fun of Kawasaki's, but they're pretty much maintenance-free. Yeah. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_01

You bring with you when you need parts. I've been in that situation. So now my, you know what it is?

SPEAKER_03

Now when I went through my divorce, and you know, I'm in Queens now. My bike's on Long Island. It's like everything's all over the place when everything used to be with me. Right. Now it's all over the place. So it's a little bit tougher now. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_01

All I can say is I'm glad we're on FM radio because I I don't I don't want to be nice. Yeah. Thank you, Mr. Quiz.

SPEAKER_03

So how were you guys Easter? You guys all had uh Easter uh yesterday?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, it was good. Everybody celebrated Easter? Quiet. Quiet, me too. Yeah. Definitely quiet. Did some dinner with the family, went to sister's house. Yeah. Nice.

SPEAKER_03

It was it was the weather was unbelievably horrible yesterday. But you know, Friday we went out to the shrine. I believe they do some bike blessings out there, right?

SPEAKER_01

Yes, that's actually coming up. That'll be we'll be there set up at that event also. April 19th? Yeah, I believe it is. Yes.

SPEAKER_03

And that's the one that's out of uh Applebee's? Yeah, North Ocean Avenue. Riders of Fire. Riders of Fire, yeah. That's a great run. That's a great run.

SPEAKER_01

We'll be set up there, and then they say they run right out to the shrine and get all blessed and stuff as well. You'll be there? Yes, I'll definitely be there. I'll be at the 10th.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_02

So that's not even a question. All right.

SPEAKER_04

I'm gonna try my best to be there. Get your bike and come out.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you know? You know what the problem is? I love the biking, but why is that thing I'd be so early? Why? Why does it gotta be like, hey, kickstands up at nine? Really? I mean, I can do the same exact one at 12:30, you know.

SPEAKER_04

You know. Can I can I make a suggestion, fellas? Yeah. All right. You know, believe in it all this time that we've known each other and we all ride. The four of us have not ridden together. Together. Yeah. This is true. So my motto, or maybe I stole it from somebody, is it's the it's the um I forgot what the what the saying goes here, but okay, it'll come back to me.

SPEAKER_03

Kamano Kamano. I don't know.

SPEAKER_04

It's the risk. That would be nice. It's the risk that we share rather than the hobby.

SPEAKER_03

Right. I gotta get my bike off the trailer. Last time I hit my bike, I rode, it was in Daytona, believe it or not.

SPEAKER_04

That's sad. So here's what I would like for us to do. We can meet up and the four of us ride in together to the uh to the event.

SPEAKER_03

Right. I do that.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Well, you're you're here, you're here on call Mac, but these guys are already out there already.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

So we gotta meet somewhere out there.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, I'm in San Rico, so that's not far.

SPEAKER_02

All right, yeah. Yeah, I'm right there in Hotesville, so it's literally a shot down the road. Okay. But so I'm guessing, Johnny, you weren't at the uh sunrise run yesterday.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, I mean I'm gonna guess that you are absolutely correct on that. But I did see the pictures. I did see the pictures on Facebook. I did see the event.

SPEAKER_02

The event at least stayed dry for them. I got up, I was gonna be game for it, but I I got up at four in the morning, I looked out my front door, and it was a sazy, and I just went, nope.

SPEAKER_03

You know, I'm gonna be totally honest with you. I went to bed on Saturday night, on Friday night, I should say, and I didn't get out of bed till what time is it now? But I didn't work today, I was off today. About three hours ago. I got out of bed. Easter, see, my girlfriend's family celebrates Greek Easter. And that's next next weekend. Great holiday. My family, we were all like my son was with his girlfriend's family, my daughter was with her punchman's family, you know what I mean? So I was like, all right, then I'm just gonna stay in bed all day. And that's what we did. Now, next weekend we'll have Greek Easter. I already got the pictures from her family of the lamb on the stick. They roast the whole lamb on the stick in their backyard.

SPEAKER_04

Nice with the pizza bread, oh yeah, cheeses, everything.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, bak Lavar. Bak Lavar.

SPEAKER_04

With Metaxa, the little liquor.

SPEAKER_03

I'm sorry, what time is this? And this is where you have the bread with the coin in it. Yes. I got the coin last year. That's why I've been so lucky this year. That's pretty interesting. Yeah, the eggs. The eggs in the pizza. You ever heard of it? No. They put up they put a coin in the in the bread. And I think they put like three coins.

SPEAKER_04

They also put eggs in the pizza. Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, yeah. And then when you eat it, if you get the coin, you'll you get luck for a year.

SPEAKER_01

Oh, nice.

SPEAKER_03

It's pretty cool.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, he does want to tell you how to do it. So the day after we can't hang out with you anymore since your luck is over.

SPEAKER_03

Luck is done now. You know, but no, it's a great holiday. You know, uh, my girlfriend's family, they cook. I gotta tell you, they have he's got a pizza oven in the backyard that looks awesome. Big brick pizza oven. I'm dying. So check that out one day. You know, and he got the stick back there with the lamb turning all day long.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, yeah, spinach and cheese pies. Oh, that's the best.

SPEAKER_03

You gotta get that. It ain't Easter without that, right?

unknown

It's a good day.

SPEAKER_03

I should say. Yeah, it's it's a fun day. So that's what we're doing this weekend. We did absolutely nothing. I went to the shrine on Friday, right? I try. I want to be a good Christian, you know what I mean? Went out to the shrine, we parked the car.

SPEAKER_02

Notice how we all left almost instantaneously at the same time without even looking at each other.

SPEAKER_03

So we parked the car, right? First of all, they got the like the the uh the stations of Christ, the rosary. We went the wrong way. All right, that's first of all. So then we go, we gotta get to the cross by three o'clock. That's what you should do. Get to the cross by three o'clock, because that's when he died on the cross, right? So we get there, and on the way there, right? On the way there, we see a tent and they're selling food. So I can eat, you know what I mean? So we got this cheese, because you can't eat meat on Friday, right? So we got this cheese uh quesadilla they had and an orange drink, and it was$24. Like, wow.

SPEAKER_01

You gotta eat it slow.

SPEAKER_03

You ain't kidding. And it was like, and then we each had like two small pieces each and we were done. So then we went to the to the course, we did that. You know what's interesting? My father, my mother put a placa for my father years ago there, but a storm came or something, and everything got destroyed. So they put it back together, and now the placa's gone. So, but it's it is beautiful there. It is uh a nice thing. So, you know, go there with the motorcycle. I did that once one year. Go there with the motorcycle and they get blessed by the priest. Now that's not uh Pastor Ski, is it?

SPEAKER_01

No.

SPEAKER_03

Okay.

SPEAKER_01

That's actually the shrine themselves doing that.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, it is?

SPEAKER_01

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, okay. So that's gonna be a nice run then. So we'll go out there and uh check that out.

SPEAKER_01

Funny story about that, quick. Well, uh you got two seconds?

SPEAKER_03

Uh not much, but okay.

SPEAKER_01

No, a buddy of mine who's very anal about his bike and very clean, he actually got water sprinkled on it. Oh my god. And he freaked out.

SPEAKER_03

Come on, really, seriously. All right, well, you know what? We'll get back to that when we come back. All right, so uh I am Johnny Rizzo. I have an Irish bat, B Chris Beckins, and Michael Crow is in the house. Love having Mike Crow here, man. He's also saying we'll be right back right after this.

SPEAKER_00

SPEAKER_03

All right, we are back on Motorcycle Man Radio. I am Johnny Rizzo. And uh we got Crow in the studio, and I always love having Crow. Oh, it's good to do it in the studio because he has a lot of great stories always. And usually this segment is the fireside chat with the crow.

SPEAKER_04

How does that go?

SPEAKER_03

Well, it's about awesome stories, like sitting around the firepla uh a fire pit, drinking bourbon, right? Maybe smoking a fat cigar, okay, right? Having a couple of drinks and telling these awesome stories. But we our stories haven't happened yet.

SPEAKER_04

No, the season's just started. The season just started. We're gonna create some stories, we're gonna make some memories.

SPEAKER_03

Exactly. Make some new memories. So you got uh some stuff going on with you. You're going out to Arizona, you're saying, right? So how's the how do you how do you do it? You're riding out there?

SPEAKER_04

No, it takes too long. I did that. Used to ride my own, used to trail on my own. You know, that that t-shirt that's always out there, ride your own.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, you know, I used to think the same thing. When I first started riding, it was always with my friends. You have to ride. No, we gotta ride. I'll tell you a quick story, all right? We were going to Laconia one year, a bunch of us. Had to be 12 bikes going to Laconia. But one of my friends was trailing his bike because he had a bad back. He was a trailer on his bike, right? So that whole weekend coming up, like the whole week, they're talking about this monster storm that's hitting Long Island and going all the way up, you know, the coast and all the way up Laconia. Was this two years ago? No, this was like back in 2012, actually. So I said to my ex-wife and my wife at the time, I go, I'm not riding in that. There's no way I want to. Well, I have a trailer. Why should I have to ride in the rain? That's not fun. No, you know? So we decided to trailer it. Of course, I heard it from everybody. Oh, you're this, you're that. What's you wrong with you? You're not a biker. You know what? I don't care.

SPEAKER_04

That's right.

SPEAKER_03

So we left at like 4 30, 5 o'clock in the morning. I'm in Lacoria at 11 o'clock in the in the morning. Already parked, checked into the hotel. Dry. Right? Dry. Right. We missed the storm because the storm happened all night. It was beautiful out. Our friends left at 5 o'clock that morning. They didn't get to Laconia to 11 o'clock that night or even later. They were so wet that they had to go. First thing had to do was go buy all new clothes, new boots. They had the leather bags, all the water soaked through. Everything they owned. Everything they owned was soaking wet. So I was like, now is that really just to say I rode to Laconia? Honestly, I mean, I've done some rides in my life, not as big as maybe Chris or you, but I rode to Wisconsin. I rode to Myrtle. I rode down from um Miami to Key West. I did a bunch of cool rides. But I'm not gonna sit there and say, I have to ride to Laconia. I'm not doing that.

SPEAKER_04

You know what I mean? My thing the last couple of years, fly and rent. Fly and rent. So Thursday morning, take a six o'clock flight. I'm there at nine o'clock. I'm on the bike at 9 30. Wow. I have the whole day to ride. And who do you rent from? Eagle Rider. Now they bring the bike to you or. It's right there. It's right by the airport. Half a mile. Oh my god. Actually, we went to Sturgis. They they did bring the bikes. Really? An extra fee. We threw them a couple hundred dollars.

SPEAKER_03

So what does something that cost like that?

SPEAKER_04

What's that cost? I'm a member. Oh, yeah? So I buy credits and I save probably about 45%. Really? So you think it's worth it then? 100%. Even though it's not your bike, not your pipes, not your. You know, you know what's really cool about it? Whine them out.

SPEAKER_02

Um send them back and have a nice day. There you go.

SPEAKER_04

I've returned the bikes, it's you're making a funny noise. The signal, the one of the turn signals are out. Right, right. I said, hey guys, you gotta do a tune-up, you gotta change the light, and um have a nice day. Yeah. And you leave it. There you go.

SPEAKER_03

Well, you know, that's the best part about it. You know what I mean?

SPEAKER_04

Yeah, they have to get special insurance for this bike or VIP insurance covers everything. The bike could break. You can ride the thing off a cliff, and if you survive, you you survive, they will bring you a new bike. Really? Right then and there. Yep.

SPEAKER_03

So let me tell me how much something like this costs from flying out of a zone and getting a hotel and everything bike all that.

SPEAKER_04

Well, uh once you get some experience under your belt, uh member of Delta, right? For instance, you build up some points. Right. So you use your sky miles points. Right. It's nothing then. Oh, right, yeah. You build up your Eagle Rider points. So maybe it's five, six hundred dollars. Really? VIP insurance, road, roadside assistance. It's great. It's awesome. Wow. And you ride and you just ride and you ride and you ride and you say, Here you go. Thank you. That's awesome. And you can buy unlimited miles. Unlimited miles. So we ride Thursday, Friday, Saturday, bring the bikes back, nice dinner, Sunday morning, take a flight home.

SPEAKER_03

She know it'd be awesome if Pat did that. He'd get on the Holly.

SPEAKER_04

Right? Hey, Pat, again, no disrespect. I don't know if they rent Kawasaki's. Damn.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, whatever they rent, I would ride.

SPEAKER_03

Like, I can't ride this bike. It's like it's a it's a real. It's a real bike.

SPEAKER_01

Yeah, usually if you're a non-member, it's like two in change.

SPEAKER_03

Two and change. I guess that bad though.

SPEAKER_01

I mean per day, which is 24 hours.

SPEAKER_03

I remember one year, Chris. I don't remember if you were there or not this year. We went to Dayton and there was a guy with us, she went out and rented a bike, and he wasn't no members or nothing. He went into Harley and rented a bike. It cost him like$800 a day or whatever it was. And that bike sat in the parking lot the entire time. He never left. Are you gonna ride the bike? I mean, he just sat there in the parking lot. All you want to do is party all day.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Then what'd you even bother getting a bike for? You know what I mean? But what you'll do with the with the easy what's it called? Eagle Rider? Eagle Rider. Fly and rent. That'd be awesome. That'd be an awesome sponsor for the show, by the way. Eagle Rider would be a great sponsor for the show. If you're listening, Eagle Rider. No, not chit-ching. Room vroom. So no, that'd that'd be awesome, man. Uh I knew a guy who did that who flew out to well, what is that? To Washington. Uh, way out in the Washington. They rented the bike and they rode the bike back to New York. Yeah.

SPEAKER_04

Now can you do one way? Yeah. You can drop that bike off anything anywhere you want. Yeah, they had a little extra fee, but yes, you can do that. You can rent in Europe. You want to go to Italy, you want to go to Germany. Oh, you can do it anywhere. You go riders all over the world.

SPEAKER_03

No, I don't know. You know, Richard Jaffey's in Italy right now. He went to the uh the what do you call those things? The uh Vespas. Vespers.

SPEAKER_05

Uh-huh.

SPEAKER_03

I would have you been to Italy, girl? Yes. You've seen them the way they drive. Yeah, yeah. It is not something you want to get on a motorcycle about. You know, I I had no interest. Me, me and Dawn talked about the whole time. Oh, we're gonna get a bike, we're gonna get a bike, we're gonna get a bike. I was like, I'm not interested in getting a bike. Not around here. Because it's funny. Every couple of miles, you saw like the flowers on the side of the road. Right. And the locals were saying, they ain't from the local riders, those are from the tourists.

SPEAKER_01

Well, it's like when you went out to the island, same thing, especially like in Jamaica, they ride on the wrong other side of the road.

SPEAKER_03

Oh, see, that's yeah, I rented a doom buggy once in Mexico.

SPEAKER_01

Crazy.

SPEAKER_03

And it was like that. I was like, oh, oh, no way. I ain't doing this no more. But that's an awesome deal, though. You can go anywhere you want. You have your dream vacation there.

SPEAKER_04

But let me let me you touched on something last segment of the show. Go ahead. About it's really not uh going to the event, right? Because we've all been to Sturgis and Conier. It's the same event. It is the same. But I'll tell you one thing that's really cool about this whole thing. There is so many more motorcycles on the road. Right. There's awareness. People in cages, people who are driving the cars, the trucks, they are aware. You go to these events and you come to an intersection, it's very likely that someone will wave you on. Right. They get it. They understand what's going on, what's happening.

SPEAKER_03

Because you're around so many of them, nothing out here.

SPEAKER_04

Right. The cars are they're more aware of their surroundings. So I maybe I stay, even at Sturgis, I'll travel all the way out to South Dakota. I only go to the event one night.

SPEAKER_03

That's all you need. Even Daytona. You know, you go down Main Street. How many times you're gonna go down Main Street? How many times you're gonna go to the Iron Horse? How many times you go to the dealership? How many times the funny part about that is it's not even easy to get around. Like you go to a good bike week in Daytona, like on a good year, like last year was packed.

SPEAKER_05

Right.

SPEAKER_03

You know, it took me almost an hour to get from the iron horse to the dealership. You've been there, right? So you know how long that ride is? You can almost see the dealership from the iron horse. You know what I'm saying? So it took me an hour. Yeah. And your bike gets hot, you're getting hot, and you know, and then you get to like the uh weekend warriors that don't really know how to ride. It's their first big ride they're doing, and you're dealing with that. So I would go to a bike week, walk down Minnesota, and what I like to do is go get my coin. There's a jewelry store down there, humphrey. Go there, I buy my coin, which used to be$52. This year,$165. Silver went up. It's a real silver coin. It's a real silver coin.

SPEAKER_01

Bike week coin? Bike week coin, yeah.

SPEAKER_03

Do I have any? I got about 20, over 20 of them. I got bike week and bike toberfest. I don't know any other place to do that. I don't know. Maybe Sturgis might do it.

SPEAKER_04

I've never seen one.

SPEAKER_03

No, no, Daytona does it, man. It's awesome. I collect one every year since 2011. I've gotten one or two, depends on how many times I go. And uh that that's pretty cool stuff. So the first thing I do when I go to bike week, I get my coin. You gotta see Jasmine Kane one night because she's awesome. Right? Check out a couple bands. You gotta hang out on Main Street one night.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_03

And then the next night, you know, you hang out with Iron Horse or Broken Spoke. I'm done after that.

unknown

Yeah.

SPEAKER_03

I don't I don't need to go back to Main Street the next night. Well, that's one thing I love about Daytona, because you got the beaches too.

SPEAKER_04

Right, yeah, yeah. And South Dakota, you have Wyoming, you have Iowa. Yeah, I know, yeah, riding.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, that that's riding out there, man. That that's just seeing the world.

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

You know what I mean? You're not just stuck to you know, Sturges. Because I could probably ride down Main Street one day, have a beer here, beer there, and just keep going. Yep. You know what I mean? That's what I would do personally, but I like the idea of you entering though. That's pretty cool. It's very cool. I'm gonna look into this, you know. I'm trying to imagine you on a beach. Yeah, no, no. Every time I lay down there, they throw me back in. I don't know why that happens.

SPEAKER_04

Can you be a little bit more graphical? No. No! I am not a whale.

SPEAKER_02

Stop trying to push me back in. Yeah, leave me alone. At least feed me.

SPEAKER_03

Oh my god. Oh, we're gonna come back with some local events that are happening around the area here in Long Island. I am Johnny Vigil, you listen to the Motorcycle Mayhem Radio, and we'll be right back, Crow!

SPEAKER_04

SPEAKER_03

I am with Crow, Michael Crow.

SPEAKER_04

What's going on, guys?

SPEAKER_03

Big Chris Beckins. Hello again. And we got Iris Pat with us.

SPEAKER_02

Hey, Johnny.

SPEAKER_03

Alright, so what do you got going on on the island? We got some events coming up, Chris.

SPEAKER_01

We've got a ton of stuff coming up. We got multiple bike blessings. We got our awareness safety and awareness run coming up toward the end of the month on the 26th. Um, it's just a lot of different club events going on. Um the calendar's packed. I mean, there's stuff every weekend, two and three different things.

SPEAKER_03

Right. Now, this drink is really uh potent. Nice, nice.

SPEAKER_01

We don't you don't want to know what he's drinking. It kind of questions his meaning. But uh yeah, there's so much stuff going on. Um we got a couple of things over here. I know Crow's got a couple things he wants to talk about.

SPEAKER_04

So hey Crown, what do you got? So we got uh Ronald McDonald House. Right. And I gotta tell you guys, I'm guilty. Up until two years ago, right? I really didn't understand the impact of what the Ronald McDonald's. Oh, yeah, it's huge. It's it's really, really something.

SPEAKER_03

Now, is this an event that's at the clubhouse or something you're doing?

SPEAKER_04

No, something I am doing with uh joint venture with the Punishers from Long Island. And this year what we're doing is remember two years ago, I did the thousand mile ride in 24 hours? Yes. This is going to be uh seven bridges, covered bridges, upstate New York. Seven covered bridges. Covered bridges, yep, yep.

SPEAKER_01

And what's the time frame for that?

SPEAKER_04

Uh it'll be just an afternoon. There's no set time. Uh any seven bridges, or do you have something mapped out? No, I have them kind of mapped out. I don't have the the definite yet, but I'll let you know as soon as this will take place in June. And uh looking to raise ten thousand dollars for the Ronald McDonald's house. All proceeds go out to them. But the work that they do is just absolutely incredible and what they provide to families. And you know, you think about it uh waking up in the morning and having to get your child out of bed to go to a wheelchair just to get to the bathroom.

SPEAKER_03

Wow, yeah, that's why that's that's tough.

SPEAKER_01

It's well they provide a lot for the families as well as the patients, right? That's what they do. They they provide almost like uh what do they call them? Uh the mini apartments for the family of when the kids are getting treated.

SPEAKER_04

You know, well said about an apartment because they have all the amenities that you would at home. Like an efficiency, pretty much. Correct. And and if the family you know wants to go out to a movie or go see a show or something, they provide not only not only the tickets for the show, but a meal and transportation. Wow, that's awesome.

SPEAKER_03

Pretty awesome.

SPEAKER_04

So you're raising money for that? Raising money for that and uh just be a be a chill ride. We're not gonna race around, try to get anything under the clock, but hit seven bridges. I would like to stream it live, so if you guys can help me with that. Yeah, maybe okay, that'd be good.

SPEAKER_03

Sure. Uh we got like four corpos. Okay. We can do something.

unknown

Right.

SPEAKER_03

You know what I mean? Like a necklace?

SPEAKER_04

Yes.

SPEAKER_03

Pretty cool. All right.

SPEAKER_04

Is that the one that goes on the chest?

SPEAKER_03

No, it actually you can clip it onto your windshield.

SPEAKER_04

Oh, okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, it was pretty cool. I got some good uh shots of dates I wanted with that. Nice. Yeah, very good. Nice. That sounds awesome, man. You know, when's that date?

SPEAKER_04

Uh June. Uh the weekend of June 26th. June 26th. Yes. Okay. And um, I don't know if I can put on a uh donate page. Yeah. Onto this.

SPEAKER_01

I'm just gonna ask you how the people donate. Yep.

SPEAKER_04

Yeah. I have a region.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, we'll get that going. Excellent. Thank you. That'd be awesome, man. Thank you. Your car's always doing great stuff for the community, man. That's awesome, man.

SPEAKER_04

It's you know, I look I'm looking forward to it.

SPEAKER_03

Excellent, man. Excellent. So you know what? You take your bike out. Now, these bridges are they near each other? They so it's a big, like a thousand mile ride?

SPEAKER_04

No, it will probably plan about 270, 280 miles. Okay.

SPEAKER_03

Yeah. So you start out going over uh the George Washington Bridge down 17, uh Terrytown. Terrytown. Yes.

SPEAKER_04

Okay. Cool, cool little town. Yeah, yeah. Are there stops along the way? Are you going well then we're gonna finish up at a uh brewery? A brewery. Yeah, right. Pat's alley, right there. Yeah, yeah, yeah. There's some and then uh for dinner going to uh distillery. Oh, nice. Yeah, all right. Well uh we'll put the bikes away. How many? How many? Chris, don't worry. Oh, he's right. Are you spending the night somewhere? Yeah, then rented a house and renting a house. 4200 square foot home. Wow. Yep, so anybody who's riding with me will stay there. Okay. And it was interesting because I called the owner, and this lady, I forget her name, but she was the original Snapple lady from 1980s.

SPEAKER_03

Wow. Wow. Nice Snapple, good stuff.

SPEAKER_04

I asked her, I said, are we gonna have a refrigerator full? What's that?

SPEAKER_03

Yeah, hey, some Snapple, please, some Snapple. Hey, I want to shout out Fat Boys Burrito, guys. Fat Boys Burrito feeds us every Monday night.

SPEAKER_02

Yes, they do.

SPEAKER_03

I know you got a burrito coming, right? What do you got?

SPEAKER_02

No, I got a empanadas.

SPEAKER_03

Empanadas. Ah, I got my new favorite. They got a burger there.

SPEAKER_02

That's sad in this world, man. Absolutely.

SPEAKER_03

Their burger was so good. I got to sell the burger. It's a smash burger with their special sauce. Unbelievable stuff, man. Stuff I shouldn't be eating.

SPEAKER_04

Savory, but sorry. Yeah, I'll tell you.

SPEAKER_03

So and uh Ikido, another place I want to shout out. Ikido in Minneola and Paul Austin. It's like a uh a um Japanese. A Japanese restaurant, but it's uh modern day Japanese. So it's really good stuff, man. Me and Don ain't there about two weeks ago. We loved it. So check them out in Miniola and Paul Washington. So Google I-K-E-D-O, Ikido. I'm probably saying it wrong. Iketo. Ikato. Johnny, what about Boogie to the Boobies? Boogie for the Boobies is coming up, guys. It's gonna be a good one. Uh let me get this flyer real quick. It's right here. Boogie for the Boobies, women who rock. It's actually May 3rd. I actually put a flyer out, May 4th. That's wrong. It's May 3rd, everybody. All right, from 1 to 8 at TC's Whiskey Rocks in West Babylon. Great bar, great place to hang out in. Uh, we're gonna have some food, some food there, some raffles, some vendors. It's gonna be a great day. Right? We have paper dolls, uh, jealous dogs, red hot, all female Motley Coup band, Jet Black, uh Sister of a Down, and Mistress of Evil will be jamming out, raising money for Rock and Roll for the Cure, which is an awesome, awesome charity where 100% of the proceeds will go to the Rock and Roll for the Cure patients. So check that out, guys. We're in the area. Come down, hang out on May 3rd at in West Babylon, Whiskey Rocks.

SPEAKER_04

I believe 1 p.m., right?

SPEAKER_03

1 to 8. Yes. That's gonna be a great day. You know, a lot of great music going on. And uh, you know, they always got great raffles, man. When when no one gets her raffles together, always has top of the line raffles. I mean, she has her her motorcycle run this year, it's gonna be a big one. The rock and roll for the cure, Massa Piqua, October 4th, this year. Keep that date available because that's gonna be huge this year. We had a I heard we had 1400 bikes last year. I don't know how many we really had, but when I looked down the road, all I saw was motorcycles. A lot. Motorcycles. Isn't that a pretty picture? That's a beautiful picture, man. When you're especially in Chris knows this, man, when you're in the front and you look behind you and all you see is motorcycles, right? You look in the mirror.

SPEAKER_01

It's almost just as good as being in the back and not seeing the front. It's pretty much exactly. You know, many times I've driven the truck and I've looked and I've seen, you know, and you just don't see the beginning. It's just the same thing.

SPEAKER_03

See, the other cool thing is when you go like down to like the uh Robert Moses or Jones Beast Lighthouse, and you go around the lighthouse, come back, and you see the bikes coming the other way.

SPEAKER_02

Oh, yeah, that's cool.

SPEAKER_03

That would that's an outrageous thing to see, man. That is that is fantastic. So that's what's going on this year with uh Rockin' the Roll for a Cure. If you want to donate, just want to you can't do the motorcycle run, you don't ride, let's just say, go to rockin' the rollforacure.org, hit that donate button, top right corner, and you can donate five, ten, a hundred, whatever you want. Doesn't matter. It all goes with a great course.

SPEAKER_04

No donations too small.

SPEAKER_03

We gave away uh about two weekends ago, uh she was able to get for one of her patients a lazy boy chair.

SPEAKER_05

Wow.

SPEAKER_03

And a brand new, I mean, right out of the box. And uh I since I got the truck, I picked it up and we delivered it to one of her patients. Our patients were so happy. You know, we bought it in, we set it up, and she was just uh ecstatic to get this chair. You know, because these patients need that stuff, you know what I mean? And she's out there every other weekend delivering the food we get from Stop and Shop, right? And uh a lot of other places out there. And uh it's just an amazing thing that she does, man. So definitely check out Rock and Roll for Cure, guys. So go to rock and roll for cure.org and donate. So I want to thank everybody for listening. Thank you, Claw, for coming back in.

SPEAKER_04

Whoa, this is great, thank you.

SPEAKER_03
