What Do You Owe Your Family Before You Ride
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A weekend can be perfect on paper and still end with water pouring out of your boots. We kick things off with the ride-day stuff that actually makes motorcycle culture feel like family: the food stops, the jokes, and the local spots that become tradition, including a full-on love letter to Fat Boy’s Burrito (burritos, smash burgers, wings, and all). If you ride Long Island, you’ll recognize how quickly a casual meetup turns into the day’s main event.
From there, we get into real ride conditions and real event logistics. We talk charity BBQs, setting up at My Place Tavern in Selden, and what it’s like when weather flips from “let’s roll” to “this is a downpour.” We also trade group ride lessons, including why clear planning and proper escorts matter, and we revisit stories around the 9-11 run and riding into NYC when things aren’t managed the right way.
Then we make an important turn: what happens if you leave home and don’t come back, or you come back and can’t work. Jonathan from New York Life explains how he helps riders and families build financial security using life insurance, annuities, rolling old 401(k)s into income planning, and protections like disability and long-term care. We close with a spotlight on Rock and Roll for a Cure, a breast cancer fundraiser motorcycle run where proceeds go directly to patients who need help now.
If you got something from this one, subscribe, share it with a riding buddy, and leave us a review so more riders can find Motorcycle Mayhem Radio.

Welcome And Burrito Banter
SPEAKER_01Welcome to another edition of the Motorcycle Mayhem Radio Podcast, hosted by Johnny Rizto, where we talk about everything motorcycle, from tips on safe riding, to apparel and accessories, to where the next events are, and everything in between. So, let's mount up and drive. Hey Johnny, where are we going this time?
SPEAKER_08What's up, everybody? What's up there, Irish Pat? Hey, Johnny, what's going on?
SPEAKER_18What's up there, Jonathan? I'm happy to be here for my sixth appearance on the show. You're definitely the food, man.
SPEAKER_02Yes, I'm definitely coming back for the food, I'm convinced. So, what's up, everybody? I am Johnny Rizzo, and uh, you're watching or you're listening to Motorcycle Mayhem Radio, depending on where you are and what you're doing. So he's talking about Jonathan's talking about Fat Boy's Burrito.
SPEAKER_08Pat, what do you think about Fat Boy's Burrito? Are you gonna be? What do you think I come back?
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. Fat Boy's burrito is amazing. They're there. I had tonight, all right, I gotta say. Their barbecue chicken burrito. I didn't, I just thought of thought of it. I don't know if they if that's actually real. Is that a real thing? A barbecue chicken burrito? It is now. Or you get a chicken burrito. That's the chicken. Yeah, well, yeah, that's true. I mean, I got this amazing, amazing barbecue chicken burrito. Jonathan got the steak burrito, right? And Pat got the beef empanadas.
SPEAKER_07Oh, I love those things.
SPEAKER_02And Jonathan, you also got the breakfast burrito, right?
SPEAKER_18I'm looking forward to that uh tomorrow morning. And now, so the plan is to cut it in half and have half tomorrow morning and then uh half the following day. Yeah. It's not it's not gonna happen.
SPEAKER_02I've never seen a guy eat like this. I thought my girlfriend don't want to eat a lot, man. Like when we eat, like, we'll sit down and I'll look at us, she's done. I'm like, what do you what do you mean? Prison? I mean what happened here? Like, where'd all the food go?
SPEAKER_08You know what I mean? So usually we're saying that with you around. You would think. You would think. That's the reputation.
SPEAKER_02You would say yesterday we had a good day. Yes, we did. So we went to the Tear Rats at uh a barbecue, like fundraiser. What would you call it? It was a charity event. Yeah, my place uh tavern out in Selden, Long Island, which was excellent. Guys, are you out there in your cars right now looking for a cool place? I learned this yesterday. I met the owner, Frank. This guy broke his butt yesterday, man.
SPEAKER_16Yes, he did.
SPEAKER_02He was on the barbecue yesterday. He was making ribs, he was making chicken, hot dogs, and hamburgers, and they did that um Dorito uh walk in taco thing. Did you see that?
SPEAKER_18I
Weekend Charity BBQ Recap
SPEAKER_18I saw it, I didn't uh get a bite of it.
SPEAKER_02I think I ate one of everything yesterday.
SPEAKER_18The the rib, I was stuck on the ribs. The ribs were amazing.
SPEAKER_02They were like dinosaur ribs, and like they were so good. So they were awesome. So, you know, Frank was on the grill all day, and it was kind of hot yesterday, too. He was on the grill all day.
SPEAKER_08I will take yesterday as opposed to the day before.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah.
SPEAKER_08Well, the day before it rained, right? Yeah, well, like I said, any harder. I was looking for this guy in a giant boat with animals or two in him.
SPEAKER_02Hey Noah, is that you?
SPEAKER_18I'll tell you what happened to me on Saturday. So my uh my Legion Riders group, we were going to, there was a uh over at the VFW hall, it was uh a barbecue. And so we all gather up in our uh our rally point in uh Greenlawn, and it's like a drop or two. We start rolling, it starts raining. It's getting heavier as we're getting there, heavier, and then by the time we get there, it's pouring. So so so and they're barbecuing, and it was actually it was a great event, and it was it was nice. But we're sitting there and we're looking at the weather reports, we're like it's going to calm down a little bit, and then it's gonna get really bad with crazy
Getting Caught In The Downpour
SPEAKER_18lightning. So my president and I jumped on our bikes and took off. By the time I got home, I stepped into my garage, I took my boot off, poured water out of my boot. It was like a cartoon.
SPEAKER_02That's the worst feeling, man. And I didn't even ride this weekend. Well, that was on Saturday. We had a double, a triple, me and Dawn had. First, we had to get up and do the rock and the road deliveries for her organization. So I got up around 6:30 in the morning, I got I got dressed or whatever. I usually try to get to a stopping shop over there in New High Park about 7:30. So I get all the food. You know, they give me a lot of you know, boxes of meat and produce and my pickup truck. Sometimes I load it up three times. And then we gotta go to the pantry over in Mineola and meet the volunteers. So we go over there, and then Dawn meets me there.
SPEAKER_18You do that every Sunday?
SPEAKER_02Every other Saturday.
SPEAKER_18Gotcha.
SPEAKER_02Doesn't matter what the weather. If it's really bad, then let's go inside to put everything together. So there was only like four or five volunteers this week. And me and Dawn. Including me and Dawn. So we're watching the sky, it's getting dark. It's getting dark. We're like, uh oh, it's gonna come down any minute. So the minute we got all the bags, we have all the bags lined up, right? All the bags will be lined up on the side, right? And what you do is like, I'll bring all the food, and and then we got um, what is that other one? Um uh another place, bring food. And the pantry gives us food also. So what we do is we separate all the food, and everybody like this goes in a bag, you get five of these, bag, bag, bag, bag. You know what I mean? Bag, bag, bag. You keep putting everything in the bag, so all the bags are full, and you're out of food.
SPEAKER_05Right.
SPEAKER_02If we got fruit, like I had probably about 300 apples, okay? So my job basically was I'm going through the boxes. What's bad, what's good, what's bad, what's good, what's Johnny's, what's bad, what's good, right?
SPEAKER_18Like you're like Johnny appleseed.
SPEAKER_02Exactly. So I go through all the fruit, like you know, and we got our garbage boxes and stuff. But what happens is um right when we got done, the last bag was filled, and everyone, all the the volunteers are thinking, Whole Foods, that's the place I'm thinking of.
SPEAKER_15There you go.
SPEAKER_02Whole Foods delivers to us. So we get the last bag in the car, everyone's getting ready to go. Me and Dorn didn't do any delivery because we gotta go um to a party to Dorn's family reunion at the beach. Okay? So we get the we get the uh cars packed up, we get home, I go in the house, okay? I hear what the hell is that noise? Turn around. It's coming down so hard. I couldn't believe how rain that rain's coming down. But now we have her aunt, her aunt Judy with us, who, you know, not she really can't walk that great, and you know, so now we gotta get her out to the car. And I'm like, Don, we gotta go to this thing? It's that Little Beach. Right? We're gonna end it winning. I'm like, there's no way we're going here. So we call her cousin who's running this thing. She's like, it's not raining here. We can't come, you know what I mean? So we battle, we get in the car, we got the umbrellas, you know. I'm soaked from head to toe.
SPEAKER_08Alrighty, just going to the end.
SPEAKER_02We're driving in the rain to go through these puddles. Finally, we get down by Long Beach over there. It's nice out. It's not raining. I'm like, it's not raining. We stop at the gas and go, well, we ran out of the house. We only grabbed a few things. I said, let me, I want to get some beer at least. Bring some beer with me, and you know, and I don't want to show up, but just you know, what we got. So we stopped at the store with me and dormant jumped out. We got beer, some sodas, some plates, some of this, that, the other thing, you know? A bunch of stuff. Walk up out to the car. Grab it again. We ain't coming down so hard. It followed us. So now we get to where we gotta go. And we gotta walk right from here to the back across the street. That's how far we gotta walk. In the downpour. In bottles. Now, do you ever go over there, little beach? They got the mushrooms? Yeah, yeah, sure. So they had a mushroom, and the mushroom that we had was cool, it was like halfway enclosed with windows.
SPEAKER_18Okay.
SPEAKER_02So it wasn't really coming in the rain, you know, over there? But the barbecue, we did another mushroom.
SPEAKER_18So you gotta walk into the rain to get it.
SPEAKER_02You gotta walk about nine feet from here to that mushroom, saturated, get your food, and now the wind's coming. So we got the we got the you know, um, the foil on the on the grill, right? Blowing off, you know. Oh, what a pain. But it was a great day. So Johnny here, I said, you know what? Dawn, you're driving. Okay, because I bought some some beers and I'm like, so I drank about a lot of beers that day. So then we went from there. Saturated. I hate that feeling. Your wet pants. Oh, yeah. Now we gotta go to Nick's party from the T Rats, his birthday party. Happy birthday, Nick. Absolutely. All right, so just so everyone knows. Here's Nick right here. Hey, Nick. Happy birthday, Nick. I'll be Nick for a minute. Hey guys, thank you for coming to my birthday party. It was it was an awesome thing we had today. So we went to Nick's birthday party, had a good time there, and I ate again. All right, shocker. I ate one more time, and it was really good.
SPEAKER_18Well, there's food you eat.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah. I mean, you would have loved it. They had pasta, they had um steak and and and and pasta together, like like argan oil with steak. Oh my god. Then they had these candies, man. All I know is I'm drinking there. Enjoy yourself. She goes, but I'm gonna drink tomorrow. I said, You can drink tomorrow because I'm not driving, you know, I gotta drive my truck, I'm not gonna drink and drive. So I'll drink today, you drive. You drink tomorrow, I'll drive. So all I know is I got home that night and I'm like, oh man. I got cupcake stuff all over my face. And then, like, you know the cupcake with the blue on top and the white and all the things.
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_02Like, you know, I'm sitting there at the dinner table, I was like, eating the cupcakes, you know. And then I go upstairs, I'm emptying my pockets out. I had about I'm not kidding. Yeah, you know the Tootschi rolls, the little vanilla ones? I had about 50 in my pockets.
SPEAKER_18What's wrong with you? I don't know. Do you remember putting them there? No, I mean, I don't know.
SPEAKER_02They kind of showed up, but you know. But it was it was a great party. I mean, it was fun, man. And they had a huge cooler full of beers. Huge. So that was a good time. But um, that was part of my weekend, and then uh we'll get into the uh second part when we come back from break. So I am Johnny Rizzo with Irish Pat. Hey guys. We are it's Jonathan from New York Live.

SPEAKER_02Guys, I gotta tell you, you gotta check out Fat Boy's Burrito, because their food is just ridiculous. So good. I mean, they're burger. How about that burger, John?
SPEAKER_18The burger's fantastic. It's like one of the best. It's really good. I know you don't like pickles on yours. I happen to really like the pickles online.
SPEAKER_02Okay.
SPEAKER_18But it's uh, you know, it's seasoned just right and uh and they cook it just right. Now, normally if I'm getting a regular, you know, big fat burger, I do uh medium rare. This is a smash burger. It's a different animal.
SPEAKER_02It's a different animal.
SPEAKER_18It's like eating white castle, you know. You're not gonna eat it the same way you eat a uh a regular
Fat Boy’s Burrito Food Favorites
SPEAKER_18burger.
SPEAKER_02A big white castle burger, we got it. But I gotta tell you, but their fries are so good, all their food is so good, their tacos are amazing. Oh, god. But Rich got over there, he's not here yet, but Rich got the the uh the I got him teriyaki chicken right over the rice with the pineapple.
SPEAKER_18That sounds good.
SPEAKER_02Uh that is that is an amazing combination. The the teriyaki and the pineapple and the chicken and the rice, that's one of my favorite meals right there. So, guys, check out Fat Boys Burrito. They're located in East Norport, Belmore, and Port in uh Patchog.
SPEAKER_18And let me just say this about Fat Boys because I uh it's one of the absolute nice things about coming here, but it's not what uh even though I joke, it's not the real reason why I come. And and if truthfully, if but if they if they stop stopping here. That's because I'm made of wood. And uh, but uh the I mean it really is so good, and it's like one of the such such a super nice thing. And and you'll say to me, hey, what do you want? And I go, you know what, pick something because it's all good. Because I know that whether it's pork, because the pork is fantastic, the steak that you got me was was so good, the the seasoning. So I just uh I know that whatever you pick is gonna be fantastic.
SPEAKER_02Well, yeah, well, fat boys, all their food is so good. Remember that they're I haven't had it in a while, their wings. You gotta try their wings. Their barbecue wings are the best wings I ever I ever ate. I'm a fat guy, I've been to a lot of places in my life. So so far, the wings and the burger, amazing.
SPEAKER_08Oh, the wings are phenomenal.
SPEAKER_02I've been getting a lot. Um, also the the the chicken, uh, the barbecue chicken tacos are just incredible. Because it's like fried chicken with the barbecue sauce, and then they got those like those onions.
SPEAKER_18Right, right.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. So, guys, again, go to fatboysburrito.com because they also got a food truck they set up, and they do catering too. So check it out, man. They got a lot of great stuff. You got that chicken crunch rat last week, right?
SPEAKER_08Yeah.
SPEAKER_02How was that? Oh, it was good.
SPEAKER_08It was really good. Yeah, that's the heavyhead to fail. They have you had to fail. There's not one thing I've gotten that I have not liked.
SPEAKER_02Especially, you know what? Football season's right around the corner, man. You go to have for food, man. You gotta call Fat Boys Burrino. Have your barbecues this summer. Call Fat Boys, get that on the side, man. Love it, man. So again, Fat Boys Burino, we love you, man. And we love eating your food. So day, part two of my day was going to the event yesterday. Which we got there late, you know. What are you gonna do? And um, we set up, and at first I'm saying, we're gonna like go around the back of the building and park, I'm like gonna park in the back. Like, I'm gonna set up in the back and be by myself back there. But that's what all the action was.
SPEAKER_18Right.
SPEAKER_02And you guys in the front got nothing. We got nothing.
SPEAKER_18We we just had the people riding by us because to go back to you and the food.
SPEAKER_02Right, because that's where the food was. Yeah, yeah. So I set up right next to the food. Now, Frank. What a shocker on that one, too. Like Frank
My Place Tavern And Event Vibes
SPEAKER_02was cooking his butt off, man. Yeah, and all the smoke was like, remember the cartoons with the finger of the smoke? Come tap on the solar? Follow the finger, right? That was Frank yesterday. And I gotta tell you, the event was great. It really was. The band was great, man. That woman had some voice. Were you guys able to hear that?
SPEAKER_18Or yeah, yes.
SPEAKER_02And the band was great, the food was great. That bar is really cool. And I learned something yesterday by talking to the owner. If you want to go there during a football season, right? It's called what My Place? Uh My Place Tavern Tavern in Selden, like 990 Middle Country Road, right across the street from like Target and stuff. So a little shopping center, right? How can you look at me like you're confused?
SPEAKER_08No, you're ahead. No. I thought I was saying something wrong. I was saying something wrong. But um It's your show. How could you say something wrong? Very easily. I say it wrong over time.
SPEAKER_02But um, he has his specials for football. He makes he has the barbecue, he makes steak, he makes chicken, burger, and you're going there for football. That's his football thing. I mean, this is bar, it's great. I'm definitely gonna go there for football this year, no doubt. You know, good bar. And they have that system. Did you see their alcohol system? They're their taps.
SPEAKER_18No, no, I didn't know. They pour it from the bottom.
SPEAKER_02Oh wow. And even the plastic cups to bring outside from the bottom. So you put your thing, they put the drink on it, and it fills up the beer that way. Huh. Oh, that's cool. Very cool. Instead of pouring it, and there's no no like extra foam. No foam, yeah. Just through the bottom. But a lot of people are like, what is it? They put their finger in the hole.
SPEAKER_08Well, for their football season, I got I got a great idea.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_08Especially because since we're jet, well, since some of us are jet fans.
SPEAKER_02Unfortunately, we are. Yeah.
SPEAKER_08It's and you can't you just fortunately sports seeds, you just can't quit. Otherwise, I would have traded several different times.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, no.
SPEAKER_08But you have that hole back, the first kickoff.
SPEAKER_02Oh, they caught the ball. That's a good thing, right?
SPEAKER_08And it's only downhill from there. That's right. Here's the thing. If you're a jet fan, they need to set the place up every time the opposing team scores, you get a shot at tequila. There you go. And this is coming from somebody who doesn't drink. But you need something to get through those games.
SPEAKER_02Oh, yeah. Oh yeah. Well, we'll see what happens. But check out that place guy. My what's it called? My place to having. My place to have it, man. Greg go say hi to Frank. Tell Frank, I heard about this place on Motorcycle Man Radio. Give me a shot. Ah. What are you doing? I got a wine out there. I got no alcohol left. But he can cook, though. And the guy can definitely cook. It was a great time. So how did you guys experience it yesterday? Good time.
SPEAKER_08Had a very good time. Like I said, it was up front, so a bait was there. So I was able to say hello to Chris. Josephine came in from uh she does look, she looks phenomenal.
SPEAKER_02A matter of fact, the next show we're gonna do, uh, our eight o'clock show, we're gonna do probably about 40 minutes, and I'm gonna finish up the show with all the interviews we did yesterday. So it was it was nice, you know. Yeah, Josephine got PJ from the uh Punishes was on.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, that was good to see PJ.
SPEAKER_02Did he get taller? I'm looking at the guy going, PJ, did you grow? Hey, I thought you were short.
SPEAKER_08I'm 5'7. Everybody to me looks like they grow.
SPEAKER_02Come on. But it was great seeing a lot of old faces, man, coming there yesterday. And like I said, PJ was there. He was talking about his event. They have that the uh the Punishes 9-11 run. Oh, that thing is just insane. You know, we'll get to that when we come back in the third quarter. The third quarter of the show.
SPEAKER_07You're already for football.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we're talking about football, fan. So, but it was great having a lot of people on the show. Uh, I like setting up at these places doing radio, and everyone's so worried about the band was blasting us out, but that's why I got the headphones. Because I can I can get the band out of the way. Me and Dawn did a show on one of the vets, and there was a speaker right on their desk, right on the table with us, that was blasting disco. And we couldn't even hear each other. But what I did is when I went in my little system, I took the background noise out, and all you heard was us. But I don't think I have to do it with this. I think I was when I was making the video last night, I was able to hear everything fine. You know, the band was like in the background. So that's good. I left it in there, you know what I mean? So I'll do that at the eight o'clock show.
SPEAKER_18I I'm looking forward to that because I missed all that stuff because I was up front.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I wanted you to be part of it. You know, come on.
SPEAKER_08Hey, for once it was happening. Johnny was in the back for a change.
unknownYou know.
SPEAKER_08I was Pat was Pat and his bike was in the front.
SPEAKER_02My bike was my bike was literally in the back with Dawn's bike in the trailer.
SPEAKER_18Yeah, so and I was in the front, so Roberver's damn right. What was funny was when we left, Pat was right behind me for most of the trip home. He was directly behind me. And by the way, you had your left turn signal on for most of the uh Yeah, I know.
SPEAKER_02That's what they do.
SPEAKER_18Cowboys hockey they forget to push the button.
SPEAKER_08It's like you're so used to when you're in your car when the signal stops automatically. Right. It's a reflex. You forget to do it on the bike.
SPEAKER_18Yeah. Yeah. I know. That's the nice thing about Hollies is they have the self-canceling uh signals.
SPEAKER_08When they're not getting repaired for oil changes, but you know.
SPEAKER_02Well, we need an oil change, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_08HD, hundreds of dollars.
SPEAKER_02There you go. Oh man, all good. Great time yesterday, great time the day before. I mean, the weather kind of blew, but what are you gonna do? But uh check it out, guys. Again, we are motorcycle mayhem radio. Check us out everywhere. Facebook, follow us on Facebook, subscribe, subscribe, I can't talk to our YouTube channel. Follow us on TikTok, Instagram, all those great places. Uh iHock, Google, Spotify, all that stuff.

SPEAKER_02Thank you, Pat. So on that note, we're gonna be uh let's jump some tunes or whatever we're gonna do right now. Wherever you are, we're doing something different on every commercial break. So we'll be right back right after this.
SPEAKER_09Johnny, so this is where you're gonna eat right now, my brother. Ground beef, American cheese with red onions, lettuce, pickles, mayonnaise, and ketchup. Cheeseburger slice.
SPEAKER_03Cheeseburger slice. Here we go. Does it taste like a cheeseburger? Yeah, exactly. I think that's really good comfort.
SPEAKER_02So let me explain a little bit. Okay, pig mat, the hamburger, cheeseburger, slice is amazing. You gotta try it. You only have it right here. I'll hear a battery o' slice.
SPEAKER_04Yeah, bad. Woo!
SPEAKER_03Glad to see it!

SPEAKER_02Was tough. You know what I mean? So we do it from the studio. We send it in and they uh they put it up for us, which is great. So it's a pre-recorded show, but you know what? If you ever want to get in touch with any of us, all you gotta do is go to Motorcycle Mayhem Radio Show at gmail.com and uh send us an email or message us, send us on Facebook, whatever. I was bad, Jonathan, me, whatever. Absolutely. You know what I mean? So anyway, like I was saying before, uh PJ came on the show and he was talking about, you know, doing the 9-11 run. You ever do that run?
SPEAKER_18Uh no, no, I I I always wanted to, but it's uh timing has always not worked out for me.
SPEAKER_02Well, you know, thank God PJ took it over because I don't know who did it like back in I think it was like 2012 or 13.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02And we went to go do, we all met at the Harley dealer or on Northern Boulevard over there. And we had a fire truck police escort to the Queensborough Bridge. Once we got over
9-11 Run Stories And City Chaos
SPEAKER_02the bridge, but the escort was gone. So there's about 2,000 motorcycles in the city with no escort.
SPEAKER_18That's a recipe for disaster.
SPEAKER_02No, it was it was horrible because people were getting out of their cars and they were literally pulling bikers off their bikes and there were fights everywhere. And I told my ex-wife at the time, I said, We're getting the hell out of here. So we actually went to Hogs and Heifers instead. So because there was no way, there was no way cars stopping at lights, and there were 2,000 bikes coming through and just sitting there. And people were getting out, stop trying to stop us, stop, grabbing onto the handlebars, don't go. You know, and then they get back in the car. By the time they got in the car, we went. You know what I'm saying? And it was hard, it really was a horror show. Now that PJ's doing it, it um no problems. It was like they got the escorts everywhere. It's a beautiful thing. One thing we did last year was we're gonna definitely do it again this year. So they changed it. They always had the uh 9-11 run. And then last time I did it, the way it was was we went back to Aqueduct, right? Okay. Big party at Aqueduct, you know. They had the food truck there, they had the Talker Pepper guy, the guy that's over there uh on Liberty, uh, Linda Mullevant. Okay, and then split by Atlantic Avenue, that guy? He was right next to me. That's the best talking in New York. So they had all the food trucks there, the big party, bands, all that stuff going on, raffles I wouldn't believe. And then they changed it. They let me know. Instead of doing a 9-11 run, they do it the same day, the Indian Larry. You ever do Indian Lowry?
SPEAKER_18Uh no. Well, so he uh I I I know they they they just recently ended those.
SPEAKER_02No, they said it they say that every year.
SPEAKER_18Oh, is that the last one?
SPEAKER_02They say it's the last one every year. It's never the last one. They're probably already preparing the next one. They're not having it, not having it. That's when you start seeing posts like Indian Larry Block Party. So me and Dawn did an Indian Larry Block Party so many times. I probably did it like seven times, and I set up there probably about five out of the seven times. So last year, what we decided to do is we're gonna do the run. And before we're going back over to Williamsburg Bridge, whatever bridge it was, I hung and went to the feast. So and we parked the bike down by the feast, went and had a nice dinner. It was an amazing day down there. It was a beautiful day. We did the motorcycle run, and now we're enjoying the uh St. Janeiro's feast, which is incredible.
SPEAKER_18Which, according to the mayor, Little Italy doesn't exist.
SPEAKER_02No, yeah, yeah. Wrong. That guy, Men Dummy, right? Mendummy. He's not my man, yeah, thank God. No.
SPEAKER_18Wait, we go we get political on this show?
SPEAKER_02We can now.
SPEAKER_18All right, all right. Just can't curse.
SPEAKER_02No, can't curse, but men dummy is a dummy. That's all I gotta say. But you know what? It's pretty cool. One year, all right, me and my friends, back in 2012, 13, I can't remember, we took the bikes into the city to go to the St. Janeiro feast, right? So as we're riding down like lower Manhattan towards the feast, a biker pulls up next to us and says, Follow me. So we follow the guy. And he takes us all the way down into the feast right a month, and all the bikes are lined up. He's like, park your bike, come inside. All right. Me and my ex-wife and two other people, right? Park the bike, we go inside this building. You guys walk up the stairs, whatever you want. Drinks. He had trays and trays at White Castle. I was in my glory.
SPEAKER_05Wow.
SPEAKER_02Trays and trays at White Castle, right? All of a sudden we're sitting in the balcony overlooking the feast. So we're sitting in the guy's balcony drinking beers, blah, blah, blah. And I see my cousin, right? I go, come on up, come on up. Him and his wife come up. They're hanging out, we're all hanging out, blah, blah, blah. All of a sudden a guy comes up to us that was that told us to come in, he goes, You guys gotta forgive me. I thought you were somebody else. I'm like, I'm like with a white castle burger hanging out in my mouth. Like, no, you guys really, you're really cool. You can study party all you want. You're welcome all night, right? Whatever you want to do. But what's really cool about this thing, though, is that a certain part of the night, the day, actually, is they needed like ten people to go up on the roof. It was like a five-story building. This guy owned the entire building. He took the second floor and cut out all the apartments that went from this way all the way around and made one huge apartment.
SPEAKER_05Wow.
SPEAKER_02Except for one apartment here and one apartment here was separate that his guests can stay in while if they were spending the night.
SPEAKER_18Wow.
SPEAKER_02So we had this apartment that was humongous wrapped around the whole building, right? So you need about ten people to go up to the roof of the building. Chris knows about it. He actually did this one year, Chris. And they had an American flag covering the entire face of the building. The entire whole building.
SPEAKER_18That's a big flag.
SPEAKER_02Huge flag. It was a 500 pounds of flag weight.
SPEAKER_18Wow.
SPEAKER_02So they needed 10 people to go up there, and they had the big walls to untie it, to lower the flag down, so they could they could fold it up really small and put it in a case and put it back in the window.
SPEAKER_05Uh-huh.
SPEAKER_02And I was part of that. And that was the most incredible thing I ever did.
SPEAKER_05That's cool.
SPEAKER_02And like we had no idea we were gonna be part of that. And we ended up being part of that. And uh, I don't think they're doing anymore. It was the nom knights that was running this. And you know, did they have the opportunity to see something like that? Everybody got involved. There was 10 people on the roof, there were 20 people on the bottom, and we lowered the flag down to them, and they just watching them fold this thing there. Certain way they do it. Right, there's a process, right, to a small thing like this.
SPEAKER_18Wow.
SPEAKER_02They put it in a case and outside the building they had a uh uh like a cutout with a window and they put it back in the building. And it was unbelievable to say, you know? And then we went to the feast. I don't think we even went to the feast, I think we walked because I had to get a sauce of pepper, you know. That that is I don't care how much I ate, how many white cattles I ate quick. How many how many white cats do I eat? I had to get my sauce and pepper, you know.
SPEAKER_18And the Zeppelin.
SPEAKER_02Gotta get the Zeppelin's. Oh, of course. And now we have a guy that does um Dawn's Run from Little Italy. He he sets up in Little Italy all the time. Pitts Pit, he's called. So if you're ever in Little Italy, look for Pitts Pit, the best sauces you ever have. He sets up at Dawn's Run with the sauce and pepper. So I already look forward to that. I go, what the I'm doing, Dawn's Run? Everything set up, Pitts Pit. Gotta get my hero. Gotta do it. So, yeah, that's a cool thing going down there. Especially by a motorcycle, you park so easy down there.
SPEAKER_18Yeah.
SPEAKER_02No problem parking and didn't let you park anywhere.
SPEAKER_18Yeah. A car is a nightmare, but uh, bike is easy. You can buy a car.
SPEAKER_02I'll never take a car there. No. So you know, me and Don hustle phone go down there. Yeah, and then Little Italy is they they try to resemble Italy a lot with the food culture. Even the beers, they had the Moretti beer. Which I was drinking in Italy. They're like crazy. Moretti was great. And they have posters all overtime, like, holy crap, I think I got Meretti.
SPEAKER_18Moretti's great. I had a I was in uh in Montreal and uh went to another Italian restaurant and and they gave me one of those. Like, this is fantastic. And that was back when the uh alcohol content outside of the U.S. was always higher than the U.S.
SPEAKER_02No, the Moretti is good. I remember my buddy who lives in Italy. I never talked about Italy. I'm sorry.
SPEAKER_18My buddy Have you ever been there?
SPEAKER_02I've been there like once last year. Really? It's actually more than a year now, so it's very depressing. So my buddy John lives in Italy, and then he came to the hotel, him and his wife, to hang out with us one night, do a radio show. And I bought a bunch of Moretti's up. He's like, dude, that's my favorite beer. You don't love it. You know, when you first go to Italy, you don't know. I'm drinking the pepperonis. Right. Whatever, you know. Right. You don't know. You're like, no, you gotta have some of this beer. Oh. This is the good stuff. Yeah. So there you go. Right? We enjoyed it. And uh Little Italy's cool.
SPEAKER_18We've got to really Little Italy is is awesome. So I used to work uh for 20 years I worked in downtown Manhattan, and I would uh sometimes take a long lunch break and I would walk sometimes across the uh Brooklyn Bridge and then back across the uh the Manhattan Bridge. But a lot of times I would walk through Little Italy and uh or and Chinatown, and it's the all the nooks and crannies, and there's awesome stuff there.
SPEAKER_02No, I wish I knew what little Italy was since it's off the map, and I can't find it.
SPEAKER_18It doesn't exist.
SPEAKER_02Yeah.
SPEAKER_18Politics.
SPEAKER_02We're not going there. Yes, we are. All right. One dummy. Anyway, so uh we're gonna go for another break in uh a couple of seconds here. And uh we're gonna come back with some local uh events that are happening in the neighborhood, in the area, right? And when to find out what John does, what Jonathan does.
SPEAKER_18If I figure that out, I'll let you know. There you go.
SPEAKER_02We know what Pat does, you know?
SPEAKER_18Space.
SPEAKER_02He fills in the he's blocking the wall over there, you know what I mean?
SPEAKER_18Someone has to.

SPEAKER_02All right, we are back on Motorcycle Ma'am Radio. I am Johnny Rizzo. I'm an Irish Pat. And Jonathan, New York Life.
SPEAKER_18Yes, sir.
SPEAKER_02What do you do at New York Life?
SPEAKER_18That's a very good question. Well, what's I eat fat boys? Well, I don't eat fat boys at New York Life. So what I do at New York Life is help people. And uh that's uh really uh the problem is that people don't necessarily know what it is they need to do in order to establish their own financial security and financial independence. Right, right. What I do is help people find that uh that independence and that security. So I give them the opportunity to say yes or no to that kind of uh of service. And uh I I'm an excellent listener.
Financial Planning For Riders
SPEAKER_18We listen to what it is that is going on in their life and we figure out a path forward. So whether it's life insurance, whether it's an annuity, whether it's uh old 401ks that we can then combine and put towards lifetime income. If someone has some kind of a settlement of uh due to a lawsuit, mal medical malpractice, we can turn that into lifetime income. So uh it's one of the reasons that I came here is because the company, it's first of all, the top company in the industry, and the breadth of the products are uh are such that every person I meet I can help, literally. Nice. Uh and people at the at the very least, I want to give them the opportunity to say, yeah, let's look at what we can do together and how can we uh we how can we take this money and make a uh a future with it? So that's uh you know that's kind of what it comes down to. Like I said, there's so many different products, so to say it's uh whether it's life insurance, annuities, uh variable annuities, uh uh all all these other things that are designed to provide security and uh and and independence. There's long-term care, there's uh uh disability. We do for business owners, we uh we provide all kinds of products uh for the business owners. We do health insurance, uh accident insurance. Uh there's it's really a tremendous amount of uh of opportunity there for for for me to help people, and that's what I love.
SPEAKER_02And that's all especially being a uh a motorcycle rider on Long Island, which is very dangerous to ride, every time you turn around another motorcycle accident.
SPEAKER_18It's it's true, and uh it you know it only it adds to that uncertainty. And uh, you know, what happens if you leave home and you never come back? Or what happens if you come home and you can never leave, you know, you get disabled. Uh and whether you're on a motorcycle or whether you're crossing the street or you're driving your car, there's hazards everywhere, and uh sometimes just dumb luck happens. So being prepared is something that we all owe to our families.
SPEAKER_02Right, exactly, man. And you never know when you put your leg over that bike, what can happen? Now you need a lawyer like Rich Jaffy, the ridingcounsel.com, who will win you the money to bring over to you so you can do the right thing with the money.
SPEAKER_18Rich is great because he knows first of all, he knows the law and he knows what is uh what it is that he needs to do for for riders. Um and riders have very special needs and uh and he knows what to do for them. So for us.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah. So yeah, so that's awesome, man. What you're doing, like I said, hopefully one day I get someone that can go to you. You say that?
SPEAKER_08No. I was gonna down. I don't I my stage game, I got no, I got nothing to invest. So that's why I got it. Sell your beard, sell your hair and your beard for a week. I'm telling you. Actually, that's the thing. The f the family's been kind of like rocking. Me a little bit. And I've been like going back and forth 50-50 about not shaving because God know my nobody wants to see this face. But but trimming it up a little bit. Only because like I was saying it to a couple of people yesterday if I don't have some kind of gator on and the and I start to ride, I have a windshield, so the wind doesn't go straight at me, it comes up and under. Oh my god. So yeah, it kind of does something like this. You know, and it's just like i it it's it it actually hurts, is what it is. It has to hurt. Oh god, it has to hurt. That's just like you get a strand or two out and it starts st it's almost like a bee thing. And it just hits a son of a bitch, that hurts.
SPEAKER_02Ah man, I have to get a bug or two, it gets thought of it. Just like with a range, man, like little babies hitting you.
SPEAKER_08Yeah, and I mean that's exactly what kind of like what it is at times. That a bb's perfect. I don't get the bug thing so much because I do have the windshield, so that pretty much blocks it, so I'm good there. But yeah, just uh it just hurts.
SPEAKER_02But anyway, I'm glad you're okay though.
SPEAKER_18And we were talking about like the jewelry, you put the bead on it. Oh, forget about it.
SPEAKER_02Oh man, that's gonna whip you.
SPEAKER_18Yeah, that's that seems dangerous to me.
SPEAKER_02Oh yeah. Sometimes my the the your vest, like you have those straps on your vest that smack you. Oh, you have a hoodie on, those little strings?
SPEAKER_08Shh, sh sh shit. Oh yeah. Those are the worst. Every sweatshirt I have, I take those strings out. You have to. Every single I can't stand them. I absolutely cannot stand them. Doesn't matter if it's a zip up, pull over, those strings come right right out, right away. I have millions for them.
SPEAKER_18It's funny, like no one ever tightens those things around their face unless you're trying to like rob a bank or something.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, well, we might have to then. You know what I mean? Then we can bring the money to you, and we can invest it for it. Hey, can you launder this money for us?
SPEAKER_18My washing machine's broke, so I want to go move on to uh motor motorcycle.
SPEAKER_02Rock and roll for a cure, guys, is a very important and right to my dear heart with my girlfriend. It's a three-time breast cancer survivor. Wow. And she has MS as well. So she's a survivor, she's a fighter. She's feisty one. She is a feisty one, and I'm scared of her, man. Amelia. She should be. She's just big, but she's vicious. She's looks tough. You met her, yes. Oh, yeah.
SPEAKER_18Yeah, we had a nice conversation.
SPEAKER_02So, who's calling me? Ray. Who's Ray? I don't know who Ray is. Anyway. The ray of sunshine.
SPEAKER_08We're doing the show in the middle. Somebody's giving you a phone call.
SPEAKER_02Well, they don't know six o'clock. They think they're
Rock And Roll For A Cure Run
SPEAKER_02eight o'clock. Anyway. Um, so rock and roll for a cure, they do their motorcycle one annual. 17th annual motorcycle run this year. Coming up. It's gonna be in Massa Picua at 1066. Uh, what is that post-1066?
SPEAKER_07Post, yes.
SPEAKER_02Um, American Legion post-1066. And uh 66 Veterans Boulevard in Massa Piqua. There are gonna be uh lots of vendors, lots of food, you know. The Pitts Pit will be there. With the sauce and peppers, it's amazing. Uh bands will be playing, we're gonna have a stage out there, it's gonna be a great day. You've been there, Pat? Have you been there?
SPEAKER_18I've been there, yeah. Oh, you been there, all right? Yeah, yeah. To the American Legion Hall over there? Yeah.
SPEAKER_02I mean to the to the run, the one's run.
SPEAKER_18I haven't been to the run. I'm I I will be there this year.
SPEAKER_02Oh, we're gonna be set up this year, hopefully. It's gonna be it's gonna be a great day. It's a lot of fun, a lot of commodity, a lot of people show up to this. I'm hearing there's like 1400 bucks last year. I don't know what to say.
SPEAKER_08I don't know if it was 14. I don't know if it was 14, but it was a lot. There's a lot of motorcycles.
SPEAKER_02I can see. But we got messed up last year with the um escort. Got got screwed up, so it got split, and some people left, some people came back.
SPEAKER_18It it it's funny because people they sometimes can't figure out how to how to do a group run. I did a bike bike blessing uh a couple years ago. And so right in front of me, the two guys who who were there, they decided to split off from the group. And people behind me, uh I went the correct way. The people behind me followed those other two guys. So I'm now the last and we were up front as probably like number 40, and there was probably about 300 bikes in the in the run. So most of the bikes are now somewhere else, and we're being escorted. It took until the very end of the ride until they were able to bring the two groups together.
SPEAKER_02Oh my god. That's horrible. When you get like when you mess that up, it's hard to get to fix.
SPEAKER_08Group writing is a challenge, there's no question about that.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, we're gonna have a nice escort this year. Like I said, we're gonna have plenty of food. There'll be uh even some cookies and stuff like that. Cookies. Yeah. Plenty of raffles, you know, raffles, I would say. Probably about 90 raffles she's gonna have. I mean a lot of raffles he has. And it's just a great day. On all proceeds, 100% goes to her patients, whether they need a ride, they need food, they need medication, they need a wig, they need some kind of something for their cancer.
SPEAKER_18All goes to that. I mean, breast cancer is uh it's a horrible thing. I lost my sister to it, my mother had it, she she died from another cancer, but uh it's uh you know, it's it's a horrible thing, and so many women suffer from it.
SPEAKER_02But you know what though, uh Jonathan, everybody, everybody in this room, everybody that you know, someone knows somebody. Everyone knows someone who is dealing with themselves, so it's very important. So go to rockin' the rollforacure.org, guys, and you can donate right there, right on the right on the page, or you can soon it's not ready yet. We'll get the run up there where you can pre-register for the run. And everything's right in front of you, so check out Rockin' the Roll for a Cure. It is definitely a great cause, and the money goes to the right place.
SPEAKER_08No, I want everyone who, if you're watching this segment, I want you to just go back a little bit and watch Johnny's eyes, how they lit up when he said the word cookies. Yeah, yeah, well.
SPEAKER_02I was like, Ralph fandom. All right, so we gotta end this, guys. So we'll see you next week. This is the Motorcycle Mayhem Radio. Make sure you follow us everywhere.
