In episode 2, Michael Ryan talks about his close encounter with a UFO in Huntington Beach, California that started his lifelong research into UFOs.  He also talks about Luis Elizondo and how his game plan might be a counter intelligence bluff to hide black projects.

Welcome everybody to episode two of UFO Talker. Later in the podcast, I'm going to talk about Luisa Lazondo, and then I'm going to tell you about my sighting of a UFO at close range in Huntington Beach, California, over 50 years ago, and that sighting has sent me on my lifelong journey in fascination with unidentified flying objects. Now, the thing is, I know I said episode two, and there's a lot of people out there, a lot of listeners to podcasts, they're very specific about this kind of stuff. So episode one was the podcast trailer. This is really, in my opinion, kind of the first episode, but it'll be episode two, just so everybody is clear and on the right track for that kind of stuff. Before we get started, I want to tell you about something strange that happened to me the other day. And you know, everyone needs some strangeness in their life, especially these days. I was reading a lot of reports on UFOs. You know, it seemed like every other report where the witness was talking said they saw their first UFO when they were eight years old. So I, you know, after I'd read about four or five reports like this that started out when I was eight years old, I started to hear that music, that theme music from the Twilight Zone, you know, doo doo doo doo doo doo doo doo. I it's it was one of those moments where you just think, wow, what is really happening at this moment? I realize a lot of you are yelling now, it's synchronicity, it's synchronicity. Yes, yes, I know all about synchronicity. I always tell people when they're not sure, I say, you know, synchronicity, it's actually more than an album by the police. I just want to take care of a little business for a moment right now. This podcast is going to come out with a new episode every Wednesday at 5 AM Eastern Standard Time, and no, I will not be awake for that, but um I'm sure those of you jogging at that early in the morning, you'll love it. Just to give you a little bit of background on myself, aside from my regular job in the nineties I was publisher and editor of Home Movies magazine, which was Canada's only Laserdisc publication. So now I'm dating everybody out there in the audience who remembers what a Laserdisc was. From 2005 to 2010, I was a feature writer for Super 8 Today magazine out of Ohio. I had a wonderful editor named Chris Cottrell. It was a magazine about independent filmmaking. Back issues are still available if you would like to go to their website. Something else I'm going to try and highlight with this podcast is that as sophisticated as we think we are with science and technology and everything about our modern world, we really know very little about the universe we live in. A hundred years ago there was lots of things that seemed impossible that are quite possible today. And I always wonder what will they think of us a hundred years from now. We still have to apply critical thinking to every UFO sighting, but I think we really have to move on from the commentators who have no idea what they're talking about, and there seems to be lots of those. And you know, every sighting is either a weather balloon, a satellite, or a star, you know, a reflection, that kind of thing. Now this is especially annoying when the observer has said that the craft landed a hundred feet away from them on the ground. I would really like to pattern myself after the great Tom Snyder. Some of you may remember his show called The Late Late Show, it came on after Johnny Carson, and then a little bit later it came on after David Letterman. He had a very casual style that I liked, and if I can be ten percent as good as he was, then I'll be very happy. I loved it when he used to say, you know, just before they went to a commercial break, he would say fire up the color teeny, sit back and relax, and watch the pictures now as they fly through the air. The thing about podcast listening is that, you know, right now some of you are walking your dog, some of you are hiking, some of you are jogging, some of you are driving in your cars. Hopefully you're not stuck in bumper to bumper traffic like in Los Angeles on the four o five or in Toronto on the four hundred one. I have unfortunately experienced both. You know, it's it's those moments in life that make you strong, I think. You know, someone once told me that anyways. But if you're at home in your favorite chair, this is what I want you to do right now for me. It's hard to talk about Luis Elizondo or Lou, as I have heard him call himself, without looking into his background. Now his background is waist deep in counterintelligence. Counterintelligence in a nutshell is protecting your country's secrets at all costs. If you really want to play a mind game with yourself, think about this for a moment. Wonder if what Lou Elizondo is doing is just a charade to protect some aspect of US intelligence or some secret black programs. In all the years I've been researching UFOs, I have never seen anyone rise so fast to become the public face of the UFO phenomenon. He resigned from his job at the Pentagon in twenty seventeen, and that seemed like overnight he was everywhere. He even came up with his five observables. It's as if he had this entire leap into the UFO arena already mapped out like a good story or a good cover story. Although Mr Elizondo didn't come up with the anachronym UAP, more and more it's replacing the term UFO. But not by me. I'm sticking like you know how Stan Friedman always called them flying saucers. Well that's I'm gonna stick with UFO, you know it's been a good word for a long, long time, and I'm gonna stick with that. Definitely Elizondo, he knows how to manipulate the media, and his background really shows it, you know. All was going as planned until Stephen Greenstreet, a reporter for the New York Post, made a video and released it on YouTube on may twelfth, twenty twenty two. In Greenstreet's video he uncovers some facts that don't line up with mister Elizondo's bio. For example, there was no program called ATIP. I mean that word has been on everywhere, on every program, everywhere you could read it, and there was no program called ATIP. The program was actually called Aussap. But you know, it didn't matter because ATIP, that's still how everyone refers to it. And if you check out Mr. Elizondo's website, he still refers to the program as ATIP there also. So really what's going on here, you know? I don't know if you've noticed, but in the last several months, Mr. Elizond has just disappeared. I mean, no more TV interviews, no more talk shows, he's just gone, you know, which is a one hundred eighty turnaround from what he had been doing in the past. Now Mr. Elizondo does have a PR firm, so maybe they're you know advising him to lay low until this information storm blows over. I've seen, you know, we've all seen that before. I also want to talk about Stephen Greenstreet's video of may twelfth. While he did correct some information, which is good, I'll give him credit for that, a lot of it was just a good old fashioned hatchet job. By the end of the video, he had not only questioned everything Mr Elizondo had done, but you got the impression that the whole TikTok sighting never occurred and maybe there's no such thing as UFOs. If you didn't think that Mr Green Street had an agenda, just listen to some of the words he used to describe AwSAP. You know, words like wacky, silly, spooky stuff, and crazy story. You know, this is a tactic that has been used so many times in the past to discredit anything regarding UFOs, so really to me that was a very uh cheap shot. So it makes you wonder, you know, what is Mr Green Street's agenda? Was it kind of a clickbait story, you know? Something just to make a big splash and get him a whole bunch of attention on his YouTube channel? You know, that's a possibility as well. Then later on august eighteenth, John Greenwald Jr., who created the Black Vault, added his own video deep dive into Mr. Elizondo. You know, I have a great deal of respect for John Greenwald. The Black Vault is probably the best source of government documents anywhere online. I can highly recommend his site. Mr Greenwald's video is excellent and also covers the complaint that Mr. Elizondo filed with the Department of Defense. Then a few days after that, Mr. Greenwald uploaded another video on august twenty second to talk about the response he got from his first video. So obviously Mr Elizondo has become a very polarizing figure, and to hear Mr Greenwald describe it, you know, he got told in no uncertain terms what people thought for or against. I will say this about Lou Elizondo. Forgetting for the moment what his official title was or what the program was called that he worked at at the Pentagon, he actually did some very good work as the host of the History Channel show Unidentified. I really enjoyed that program. It was excellent, well produced, and it ran for two seasons from 2019 to 2020, and had some really excellent episodes, and a lot of the uh interviews on it probably would not have happened with um without Lou Elizondo. You have to give him that. At the end of the day, for me, I still think to myself, who is Lou Elizondo really? You know? Only time will tell. Okay, so this is the sighting that kicked off my lifelong fascination and journey into the world of UFOs. So just to give you a bit of a a timeline, I was born in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, and my mother is from Canada. My dad was from Bathurst, New South Wales, Australia, and that's a whole different story for another day. But um they ended up moving to Huntington Beach, California when I was about three. And yes, Huntington Beach, California is everything you can imagine. Surfing, uh sunshine, great times to be sure. The neighborhood I grew up in was your typical nineteen sixties uh suburb. The homes were built in the early sixties. It was around the Edwards and Ed Edinger area. So I'm crystal clear on everything that happened that night. But you know, I've talked to my mom about it. We're not sure of the year anymore, so that we are a little bit fuzzy on. So uh it's I'm gonna say it was either 1965, 66, or 67. Somewhere in there, if I had to lean towards a year, I would probably say it was 1966. You know, in retrospect, I found this all really interesting because if you've ever seen the photos that uh Rex Heflin took of his sighting in Santa Ana, which I believe was nineteen sixty-five, what I saw was extremely similar to what he saw, uh maybe the same thing, I don't know. But you know, sixty-five, maybe I kind of feel more like it was sixty-six. But if you ever want to look up the Rex Heflin photos, that is very close to um what I saw. It was a winter somewhere in the winter months because it was a little bit colder than normal, and yes, Southern California gets plenty cold at night, if you've never lived there, in the winter, and um we had rabbits in our backyard. And I think there was a lot of rabbits. I you know, we lost count, there was so many. But in the early days of uh when we first got rabbits, we only had a few of them, and we had a rabbit hutch in our backyard. So this hutch was a wooden cage, it was on legs, the bottom of the cage was about waist high for an adult, I would guess. And every um night me and my mom would go into the backyard and we would open up the huge bag of rabbit pellets to feed the rabbits. So it was nighttime, I'm gonna say it was probably eight o'clock somewhere in there, and it was you know dark, obviously, and uh my mom was facing our rabbit cage. It had a door on it, and I was standing behind my mom with my trusty bag of rabbit pellets, and so she would we had a couple of bowls in the in the rabbit cage, so she would hand the turn around and face me and hand me the bowl, and I would scoop it the pellets out into the bowl, give her the bowl, and she would put it back in. So the second time she had turned around and I was looking up at her, and so I noticed she just kind of froze and was looking at something in the sky. And, you know, since that moment, I have analyzed this many, many times in my mind, but I had never seen my mother with that expression ever before or since that time, and it whatever she was looking at, it had totally amazed her because she just stopped and was just staring, and that was kind of unusual. I'd never seen my mom kind of do that before. And so I thought, well, I've got to see what she's looking at. So I turned around and boom, there was something in the sky that I had never ever seen before, and I've never seen anything like it since. So I'm gonna give you the approximate distances. You know, it's hard to say exactly how far and how high it was, but approximately 200 feet away and approximately a hundred to a hundred and fifty feet up, there was your traditional flying saucer UFO, and it was probably thirty to forty feet across, maybe eight to ten feet uh tall, and there was no noise, completely silent, and it was just hovering there, and it was kind of a dull metallic finish, and there was a glow that came off the metal, like a light, but you couldn't see any place the light was coming from, it more or less was a glow, and it was kind of a you know, like a yellowy bluish green kind of a light, if that makes any sense whatsoever. And so this happened for about five to eight seconds, we witnessed this hovering UFO. And then it slowly started to rise, and that particular night there was low cloud cover, it slowly started to rise, and as it entered the clouds, it lit up all the cloud around it as it went up, and the higher it went up, the faster it got, and at the end it was just like boom, I don't know, it could have been thousands of miles per hour, it just disappeared that quickly. So my mom phoned the radio station, which I believe was probably KHJ at the time, and you know, I'm listening to her, and I kept saying to her, You gotta call the police, you gotta call the police. And so she didn't want to really want to do that, but she ended up, she did call them. She called the desk at the Huntington Beach Police Department, and I probably they from what I overheard, they probably didn't take it too seriously. She just asked if anybody had seen anything that night, and the the gentleman said, No, we haven't had any reports like that, and that ended it was pretty brief. But that's pretty much the way a lot of adults treated uh UFO settings back then. It wasn't really kind of something that was mainstream, I don't think. But so since that moment, I have really analyzed this over and over in my mind. And here's a couple of observations. So definitely one million billion percent, you know, I was looking at a craft, a real craft solid object. And you know, when some people say, Oh, you know, you saw light reflecting off the cloud, or you know, all kinds of other nonsense, you know, when you when you see something, you know that you've seen it, you know. There's no no two two ways about it. So what I saw was a hundred percent, it was a solid, real craft of some kind. And something else which dawned on me later when I would think about this over the years, and it's made me think about other eyewitness eyewitnesses talking about this thing. So during this five to eight second period, somewhere in there, my mom and I were just like spellbound watching this. So I never had a thought to go run and tell anybody. I never had a thought to go grab a camera, I never had a thought to say to my mom, what's going on? I never had any of those thoughts at the moment. I was just totally fixed upon what I was looking at. So I've heard or I've actually read also lots of other reports where people say a similar thing, that at the moment it's almost like you are mentally captive to whatever is happening. Which makes you think is there some kind of mind control or thought control beam or wave that has been invented or is in our future? I mean, that's all speculation, really. But I've heard so many people say the same thing that they never thought to do anything that you would normally think you would do during the encounter. And that is true because I I had no thoughts of anything but other than just keeping my eyes looked hooked on that um on that siding. Now after it was over and we were in our house, we were just you know adrenaline pumped, like it was just I remember not long after, you know, an hour later we drove to the store and I think I tried to buy every single magazine I could find on UFOs, and uh was there any books? I started really, really that started my journey on researching UFOs for the uh last 50 years or more. I can't keep track of how long it's been now. But um that was my origin story, so that has always been with me. So if you have never seen a UFO at uh that close a distance, um, I can understand how you would think, you know, it could be something else. A lot of people talk about strange light in the sky. Um that's a little bit different because that could be misinterpreted as many different things. But, you know, when you've seen something that close, absolutely a hundred percent, there is something, you know, whether you want to call it alien or uh super secret technology that is has been made on Earth, whatever it is, the 100% there is something, because I am here to tell you that I saw a solid craft, not a reflection, not a weather balloon, not a misidentification of any other kind of uh aircraft at the time. And where I lived in Huntington Beach, you know, there's if back then there's many different military bases around there, so I was quite familiar with military aircraft and uh commercial jet liners and small airplanes. And also in 1970, I believe it was, Huntington Beach got a police helicopter. I think they were the, if correct me if I'm wrong, but they were the first police department of that size, uh, you know, not a major city to have a police helicopter in the United States. But it would fly at about 500 feet. So that's what's given me a rough idea of when I say it was uh about 100, 150 feet in the air and about 200 feet away. So it's actually the Huntington Beach police helicopter that's given me that that rough idea because I could see it many nights flying at 500 feet, so you'd have a good idea of what 500 feet in the air was. But that's my my origin story, and that's what has set me on this journey, and uh it's been really uh unbelievable to think about it. And uh over the years I've heard other people t share their experiences and of course read many, many experiences. So there is just something mysterious and awesome about the whole subject, and that's what's got me really hooked on the whole thing.
