Prepper Updates And Memorial Day Meaning
Use Left/Right to seek, Home/End to jump to start or end. Hold shift to jump forward or backward.
A prepping podcast doesn’t always need a full lesson plan sometimes it needs timely updates, straight talk, and a reminder of what actually matters. Keith shares a quick set of announcements, starting with a heads up for anyone building long term food storage: a current Augason Farms sale that can cut costs on #10 cans, plus an extra discount code mentioned on the show. If you’ve been trying to stock freeze dried food without wrecking your budget, this is the kind of practical, tactical info that helps you move from “someday” to an organized pantry.
Next, we talk community and momentum. Thanks to listeners who subscribe, review, and share, the Common Sense Practical Prepper Podcast is climbing the education how to charts in multiple countries, with strong month over month download growth. Keith breaks down the numbers and offers a genuine thank you, then gives a quick update on the Lone Man on the Ridge series and how it’s performing so far. There’s also a reminder about Prepper Camp 2026 on August 14th through 16th and a link to a new video for anyone thinking about going.
The episode closes with something bigger than gear and discounts: a Memorial Day reflection. Keith explains the difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day, touches on the holiday’s roots, and asks us to take a moment to honor those who died in service. If you value self reliance, freedom, and the ability to speak your mind, this reminder hits home.

Quick Updates And A Format Change
SPEAKER_00Hey everybody, this is Keith and welcome back to the Common Sense Practical Prepper Podcast for May the 20th, 2026. And I want to provide everybody with some updates about some stuff going on, so I'm going to depart from my normal format with

I want to let y'all know that they have a really good sale going on right now, up to 50% off on a lot of their number 10 cans. Again, I like August and Farms. I just want to let you know about this particular sale. With that said, affiliate link in the show notes. Use the coupon podcast prep at checkout. You get an additional 10% off. Alright? Prepper Camp 2026 Reminder
SPEAKER_00plugs. Also, prepper camp that's coming up, August 14th, 15th, and 16th. I've spoken about it before. There is a YouTube video that they put out about Prepper Camp 26. It's kind of cool. I will put the link to that in the description as well.
Rankings Growth And Listener Thanks
SPEAKER_00Now for the big stuff, I want to give everybody a big shout out and a big thank you to all of my listeners. Until recently, this podcast didn't even come close to cracking the 100, the top 100 in Apple Podcasts, Spotify Podcasts, a couple of the other platforms in the education or how-to category. Recently, because of you all, we're now sitting at number 49 in the United States, number 37 in Australia, and believe it or not, number 71 in New Zealand. Now, this is in the education how-to category. There's a bunch of categories, but these are numbers that I haven't seen since I started. Month over month, global downloads are up about 23%. Month over month, downloads within the United States are up 53%. Again, this is all because of you all. I would not have these numbers if it wasn't for you listening, liking, subscribing, and leaving a review. So thank you so much. Another quick note on Lone Man on the Ridge. I'm extremely and another quick note about Lone Man on the Ridge. I recorded and uploaded episode number five a few days ago. Currently, between the five episodes, I have nearly 2,700 downloads just on those five episodes alone. So
Lone Man On The Ridge Update
SPEAKER_00thank you so much for sticking with the series. Now, before I go, I want to mention a few words about Memorial Day, which is a national holiday that's coming up here very soon in the
Memorial Day History And The Difference
SPEAKER_00United States. Memorial Day is observed on the last Monday in May here in the U.S. It originally began during the Civil War as Decoration Day, when people would place flowers on the graves of fallen soldiers. In 1971, U.S. President Lyndon B. Johnson, I guess, signs an executive order, making it a federal holiday, 1971. So the key difference between Memorial Day and Veterans Day, and they are easy to confuse. The difference is Memorial Day honors those who have died while serving in the military, those who have made the ultimate sacrifice. Veterans Day here in the United States is observed on November the 11th, and that honors all that have served, both living and deceased. For those listening abroad, many, many countries have the equivalent to Veterans Day and Memorial Day. The United Kingdom, Canada, and other Commonwealth countries observe Remembrance Day also on November 11th. And many other countries have their own solemn days to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice.
A Moment Of Respect And Closing
SPEAKER_00So if you're listening here in the United States, this weekend is not all about barbecues and the Indianapolis 500 and NASCAR and all that good stuff. Please take a moment to remember those men and women who gave their lives to provide us the freedoms here in the United States that we enjoy today. Without the sacrifice of those men and women, I would not have the opportunity to sit here and exercise my First Amendment right as given to me by the Bill of Rights, the first ten amendments in the U.S. Constitution. I would not have the freedom to sit here in front of the microphone and just blabber on about prepping stuff. Thank you, folks. I really do appreciate it. And as always, please be careful out there. Take care of one another, and until next time.
