The Doctor Coach School™ Podcast

The Difference Between Thoughts and Beliefs

Kimberly Reynolds

Hey y’all!

This episode was a little late to the mic, but for good reason—life has been lifing.

Between homeschooling my daughter full-time for the summer, supporting my 15-year-old college student (yes, still wild to say that), wrapping up a 30-day Elevation Challenge inside DCS, and launching... your girl has been moving. 😅

But today, I’m slowing down to talk about something that will literally change how you relate to your brain:

👉🏾 The difference between your thoughts and your beliefs.

Y’all, this one matters because for most of us, especially high-achieving women doctors, we live as if every thought we have is true.

We believe our thoughts and let them shape our identity, actions, and results... without even realizing it.

But what if I told you:

  • Every thought isn’t a fact.
  • You are not your thoughts.
  • Your beliefs—not your thoughts—are what really run the show.

In this episode, I break down:

  • A simple analogy (push notifications vs. default settings) to help you understand the difference
  • How thoughts become beliefs through repetition and reinforcement
  • A real-life coaching example of how “I don’t have time” created a belief of “I’m not good enough”
  • Why your mindset doesn’t matter nearly as much as you think it does 👀

Seriously. I said what I said.

This is the foundational episode for everything I’m about to teach on belief-based coaching.

Because once you stop being a captive of your thoughts and start taking them captive, you’ll change everything—your business, your marriage, your money, your peace.

📌 Key takeaway:
 Awareness is the first step.
Just start watching your brain. That’s it. Don’t try to change it yet. Just notice what’s already happening in there.

🧠 And next week? I’m coming back with the next level:
How to change the default settings of your beliefs (without needing to feel 100% confident first).

Let’s go, Sis.
