You are irreplaceable

The most brutal part of betrayal isn’t only what happened, it’s what it convinces you to believe about you. When you’re staring at timelines, screenshots, and credit card receipts, “I was replaced” can feel like the only honest conclusion. We slow that moment down and challenge the belief underneath it: that your being, your worth, and your value are replaceable.
We talk through the sneaky if/then scripts that show up after infidelity and porn addiction: If only my body were different, then he would choose me. If only I did more, then I’d be safe. Then we practice a different move, naming the lie and bringing it into the light with Jesus, because betrayal is an attachment wound and attachment wounds heal in safe places with truth and care. We also make room for anger as a sign of inherent worth, and we share a simple body tool for jaw clenching that can help your nervous system breathe again.
From sacred attachment (seen, soothed, safe, secure) to calling a friend when you’re sinking, we offer small anchors that meet you in the moment. We also confront the comparison voice and doomscrolling spiral, and we invite you to choose beauty as a way to restore your lens. If you need one takeaway to carry today, let it be this: you are one of a kind, beloved, chosen, and irreplaceable. Subscribe, share this with someone who needs it, and leave a review so more hurting hearts can find support. What’s one if/then thought you’re ready to name?
We are excited to announce that we will be releasing new content on two different days. On Tuesdays, we will focus on women and unwanted sexual behaviors. And the next week, on Wednesdays, we focus on women impacted, recovering, and healing from betrayal trauma. Tune into one or both; either way, we pray it will bring healing and hope!

Betrayal And Identity Shock
AnneOne of the deepest wounds after betrayal isn't just what he did, it's what makes you believe about you
AndreaWow.
AnneWow.
AndreaIf, mm That hit me right away It's what makes you believe about you Everything you thought about you. What you, how you woke up in the morning How you kiss each other goodbye for the day, how you welcome each other at night, um, how you recap. Is it enough? Was I enough? Betrayal rocks the foundation Of who you think you are, and that makes sense.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaWe are a ministry that prays. And, uh, something that we do regularly on Wednesdays is pray for our clients. Not by name, of course, but we pray, um, we pray collectively. And something that came up was this This need to, this message to offer women that you are not replaceable You're not.
AnneYou're not
AndreaI, I, I can almost hear the pushback, "But he chose. But he did. But I didn't," right?
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaYou are not replaceable
AnneYou are not replaceable And that hits And that is a truth I want us to get back to Mm-hmm. And get to.
AndreaAnd you don't believe it. Mm-hmm. You're listening and you don't believe it, and, um, we get it.
AnneMm-hmm. Right, because you say, "I have facts."
AndreaRight. Real facts.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaI have a timeline.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaI, I have, um, credit card receipts. I've got data on the phone. Mm-hmm. Uh, screenshots. I've got it all. I was replaced.
AnneYeah.
AndreaYou are not replaceable
The Truth About Being Irreplaceable
AnneRight. Your being-
AndreaMm-hmm
Anneis not replaceable
AndreaRight Your worth and your value have-- are, are under attack and stripped and torn apart through betrayal And you are not replaceable.
AnneMm-hmm
AndreaWhat's the, the b- beneath, uh, the blah, yeah, the belief underneath that statement that you... I was replaceable. I am replaceable. What does that mean to these women who've been betrayed? What are they believing?
AnneI thought I was special.
AndreaOh. Mm-hmm.
AnneI thought, and he made me feel special, the only one, unique
AndreaWe had something special.
AnneMm-hmm. It was between us And a lot of women feel that way.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneAnd a lot have this other snagging sense, like, "I, I n- I am not sure I'm special. I'm not su- something is going on. I'm, there's distance, there's, there's avoidance of me." Mm-hmm. "There's... My gut is just also saying something's going on."
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneMm-hmm. "I, I felt that, and I don't anymore."
AndreaSo I didn't matter in a unique way Or anyone could have filled my place. Someone did fill my place
AnneAnd they do on a regular basis if there's-
AndreaMm-hmm
Anneconsistent pornography
AndreaThese peop- these women, these people on, um, in porn are, are distant, and yet this wound runs, runs so deep. Uh, it, it hits so deep I feel like this is, um, you... There's those if/then statements. If only. Like, in our conversation- Mm-hmm with Tammy Gustafson, if you haven't listened to that, go back. Please. Yes. 'Cause that was a great one. Tammy was amazing. Um, but these if/then statements.
The If Then Trap
AndreaIf only I had a flatter stomach. If only we had sex more. If only I showed up different. If only I was different, then-
AnneMm-hmm
Andreahe'd choose me, or then this wouldn't have happened, or then we'd still be together. Mm-hmm.
AnneRight. I need to change something about me-
AndreaMm
Anneto keep his attention, to keep his affection. It's about me.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneAnd that is the lie.
AndreaThat's the lie.
AnneMm-hmm
AndreaI wonder if you're listening and, um, this is hitting you as truth for you that you are-- that you think you are replaceable. Is there an if/then statement that you can write out, that you can scribble out right now? No and, no Andrea, if only-
AnneMm-hmm
Andreathis, then that. Um, I would encourage you to bring that to Jesus To open your hands and say, "Look, this is what I'm believing."
AnneMm-hmm. Name it, write it, voice it 'Cause it's sneaky dark.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneRight?
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneAnd it takes a lot to, um, locate these feelings. Excuse me. But they're there, and they're dark, and they're sneaky, and
AndreaWhen you can identify that lie and that... And it can seem so simple, so write it down. Name it. But when you can identify it and you can name it, you're taking a little bit of power back. And especially when you say, "Jesus, here, I don't, I don't know what to do with this."
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaBut I f- I wonder if this is a lie, or I'm mad about this, or I'm sad about this. Or you come to a coaching session and say, "Hmm, this is what it is." And i- if you're identifying something like that, share it with us. We have a fan mail section at the end of the podcast that we would love to hear, to pray, um, through some of those lies for you and with you. Uh, but those become the opportunities for healing. Um, not that it comes right away. Right. I don't wanna promise that. But, uh, my gosh, if you can even, uh, name it, that is massive step one-
AnneMm-hmm
Andreafor you.
AnneRight, because you're listening to it.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneAnd then you're feeding it. And then you're maybe then even acting on it, like, right? Just over-exercising. Mm-hmm, mm-hmm. You know, "I've gotta change this about me. Um, I'll become that." So, and basically- So that so that. Right. Mm-hmm.
AndreaRight.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaIt, it feels like, um, a counterweight, uh, you know, when you've got this And if you're not watching, I've got my hand, one lower and one higher. The one that's lower is, is the credit card receipts, is the, the screenshots, is the, um, uh, all the evidence that you have proving I am replaceable. And then when you can name it, oh my gosh, it just You start to tip the balance just a little bit.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaJust a little bit. Um- It's worth naming it Betrayal is an attachment wound, which we've talked about before. And so how do you even begin to heal an attachment wound when you are moving from this place of unreplaceable?
AnneCause it's so deep.
AndreaMm-hmm, mm-hmm.
Anne'Cause
Name The Lie Bring It To Jesus
Anneit hits your identity
AndreaMm-hmm. The very core of who you are. Mm-hmm.
AnneYeah. And in safe places, then you, if you can name the, the, the if and then the then, name what is attacking your identity-
AndreaMm-hmm
Annethen there's light, and there's possibilities that that thought could be a lie. That thought can be challenged.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneThat thought then can have options to believe more truth.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneMm-hmm. And I'm gonna just throw this in. Maybe it's early in the, in our discussion, but most likely, this betrayal started a long time before you That your spouse's, your boyfriend's- Mm-hmm your fiance's addiction-
AndreaMm-hmm
Anneor finding life and love outside of your relationship started a long time before you Early in their life
AndreaYeah. Through a lie.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaSo to bring honesty into the equation and into this moment, um, feels like a, a... To me, I just keep thinking like a power move. It just feels that light, to introduce light into this dark space is, um, a move for you. And I, I can't help but feel when the wives that I've talked to, the girlfriends that I've talked to start to feel angry, that it's because their deep, even deeper inherent worth is fighting
AnneAnd I love when you can start hearing that anger because then there's the opportunity to challenge the replaceable.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneOr, 'cause when I was listening to you, Andre, I, I was starting to picture replaceable or the other word, and this is kind of gonna be abrupt here, but, um, you know Like trash, right? Mm-hmm. Like, am I-
AndreaMm-hmm
Annelike, just something replaceable? Mm-hmm. Am I throw it away? Like-
AndreaMm
Annediscard me? And no. No.
AndreaNo.
AnneAnd that is what betrayal is attacking.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneAnd we wanna bring light to it, and name it, and talk about it today because it's, you know, it's an awful feeling.
AndreaOh my gosh, yeah
Anger As A Sign Of Worth
AndreaAnd so I don't know how you grew up, but anger for me was not like really allowed. Um, so if, if you're starting to feel something, you're like, "This is uncomfortable. This-" I wonder if that rising up within you is who God actually made you to be and believes in you and says about you trying to rise up through this lie-
AnneMm-hmm
Andreaand through this darkness. So sit with it. Work through it. Scream through it
AnneMm-hmm Tell somebody
AndreaTell somebody.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaYeah, like if you're waking up with your jaw clamped shut, uh, if you're waking up with, um, an ache on the side of your face, um, a- we hold anger in our jaws. And so if you can put your tongue at the top roof of your mouth right behind your top teeth and just hold it there, it relaxes the joint, and that's a, a sweet way to, um, acknowledge the anger in your body and also treat it. Um, your teeth can only handle so much.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaYour heart is dealing with a lot, um, so give your jaw a break.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaAnd, um, that's anger, and- Yeah, that's helpful it has a place.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaIt has a place, for sure. If you're here and you're listening, I wonder if there's a, a- an inkling of you that thinks, "But wait, there is worth. I'm good at this," or, "People like this about me," or, you know, there's something about you that wants to believe you're irreplaceable. And you are irreplaceable
AnneYes, you have, um, this divine, um, essence
Where Your Body Holds The Pain
Annemade in the image of God And it's being attacked. It's being shot down. It's being covered up It's being harmed
AndreaMm-hmm. Mm-hmm If you can't care for yourself, I wonder if you have people around you who can care for you And if you don't, remember we're here. Um, but to have somebody to give you a hug Or to sit with you and get angry with you.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaSit with you and let you cry It's worth the work You know, this is an attachment wound, so I think immediately of, um, sacred attachment. And sacred attachment, um, takes those four principles of being seen, soothed, safe, and secure and brings God into it. If you're wondering where God is in this, if you're wondering what He says about you, um, God says, "I see you God says, "I wanna soothe you God says, "I am your safety." And God says, "I've got this
Sacred Attachment Seen And Secure
AndreaHaving his voice be the loudest right now, mm, that's hard because we've got the inner critic in our own head, our, our own shame, and then this comparison voice, right, that comes in.
AnneYeah, that comparison voice, um, is, is ugly and strong.
AndreaMm-hmm, mm-hmm. Tells you about your body, tells you about your faith
AnneYour worth, somebody's better
AndreaMm-hmm Your age, your creativity, your energy, your spontaneity, your aggression, your loudness, your quietness- Mm all of it, every aspect comes under this lens, and then this-
AnneEvaluation.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneAnd without, um, safe others and truth, man, the other way is going to try to win.
AndreaMm-hmm. So almost just as important as naming the lie or naming the emotion is it's also naming these voices. Like, "Ooh, that is comparison coming in right now." And if you can name it... Maybe you can't stop it right away. That's okay. Mm. That makes sense. But if you can name it, maybe you can stretch and make yourself real big, um, because comparison makes you so small. It just shrinks who you are. And so irreplaceable you, if you can stretch your arms really big and, you know, stretch from the crown of your head all the way to your tippy toes, and make yourself big, and take a deep breath, take up space, um, that can be a really nice speed bump to comparison.
AnneI love that.
AndreaMm.
AnneYeah.
AndreaHmm. Let your head get a little quiet and your, your body get real loud. Uh, also na- naming comparison is good because you're
Quieting Comparison And The Inner Critic
Andreacomparing yourself through his eyes, um, or for what you think his eyes are looking for, and not through your lens.
AnneMm-hmm. And this, this quote just came to my mind. It's, it's an old quote from, uh, a good friend. "We c- when we compare, we despair." Hmm. It's automatic.
AndreaSo that speed bump is really important then.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaSo the speed bump could be a good stretch. What else have you found is good for quieting comparison, that comparison voice?
AnneWell, I mean, what are you spending time looking at? You know.
AndreaDoh. Yeah,
Annethat's good. I know that I have to go there. Yeah.
AndreaThat's good.
AnneUm- That's
Andreareal good.
AnneRight? Mm-hmm. Um, despair, it, you know, doom scrolling. We're gonna, we kinda want to, um, confirm our negative, uh, thoughts because of- Mm-hmm you know, right, that attachment wound. Mm-hmm. But where, how much time? It's not-
AndreaMm-hmm
Annenot, I'm not dogging it. But how much time-
AndreaYeah
Anneare you scrolling- Mm-hmm looking, comparing, evaluating yourself-
AndreaMm-hmm
Anneagainst unmatchable.
AndreaRight.
AnneRight? Right. Unmatchable. We know that. Um, uh, you know, uh, pornography, the industry is- Mm-hmm is, uh, just, um Un, you know, I, um, can I find another word besides unmatchable?
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneI can't right now. But, you know- Yeah women, like, what we look at- Mm-hmm will impact us.
AndreaMm-hmm And deciding to doom scroll and look up more of what you are not or what you've decided you're not saturates, marinates yourself in, in the lie.
AnneMm-hmm.
AndreaVersus saying no and choosing something different. Um, look outside of yourself. Look, um, Curt Thompson always talks about, uh, beauty, 'cause beauty gives us pause. Um, so go to the museum of art, go to, um, the garden, go to Your dog.
AnneGo to a mountain, look up pictures of mountains. The depths, the, the cr- the creativity of God-
AndreaMm-hmm
Annethe wonder of God, the beauty of God, to restore our lens, right? It unfortunately, right, betrayal robs the lens of how we see ourselves. Right.
AndreaRight. So stop looking through the replaceable lens. What does the irreplaceable lens look for, look through? Um, and let that be a, an adventure, not Not a challenge so much, but like, "God, I don't even know that my eyes wanna look.
Stop Doomscrolling Choose Beauty
AndreaCan you help me want to look?" Mm-hmm. Mm. So comparison voices, inner critic, lies, darkness, um, that is the equation for a replaceable you. Um, and yet that's not who you are. You are irreplaceable. Um, I think of, is it Isaiah 40 that says, um, "His thoughts are higher than our thoughts, and His ways are higher than our ways"? And if His tho- His thoughts are that high and His ways are that high, um, He also thought of you. He made you. You are irreplaceable. So much so that the mountains break into singing and the trees clap with joy. Um, like even just that idea, that picture seems so sweet and fun, and yet that's also God. Um, we have seen Him and heard Him move in ways in our own lives and in the lives of women that we get to walk with, um, that are irreplaceable moments.
AnneYes, and we get to witness that.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneGod's restoration-
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneMm-hmm of how women see themselves.
AndreaMm.
AnneAnd I love, um, Tammy Guftison's book.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneUm, and it has just beautiful imagery on the cover, right, of just a mosaic. And it is the m- the mosaic is crushed at first, and then it's remade, and it's gorgeous.
AndreaMm.
AnneMm.
AndreaMm.
AnneFrom broken to brave. Mm. From shattered to restored. From, um Replaceable to irreplaceable
AndreaIt's easy for us to say this on a podcast. Um What are some simple anchors we can offer our listeners? Some Some, some truths, uh, when the thought hits that I am replaceable, what helps in the moment?
AnneI don't wanna make light of it, you know, because
Simple Anchors Hope Anger Courage
Annethat feels like a real truth, but-
AndreaMm-hmm
Anneis call somebody.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneI'm sinking, you know? Um, SOS.
AndreaYeah.
AnneA friend who all you have to do is say, "Help."
AndreaMm-hmm
AnneMy very identity is crushed
AndreaYeah And that's a truth worth sitting with. Um, uh, uh, St. Augustine says, "Hope has two beautiful daughters, and their names are hope... I mean, their names are anger and courage. Anger at the way things are, and courage to see that they don't remain as they are." So I hope that that kind of hope that involves both anger and courage, uh, can move you, um, through heart, mind, and body, this idea, um, to this, uh, truth that you are irreplaceable
AnneAnd just the fact that we are talking about it is opening the door to more conversation.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneMm-hmm. And in some ways, yes, we're gonna talk about this, and we did today, because you're, you're feeling it. Mm-hmm. You're feeling replaceable.
AndreaMm-hmm.
AnneAnd we're countering it today. Not perfectly, but we have invited you into another possibility.
AndreaMm-hmm I would love to know what
Hannahs Prayer Safe Validation Closing
Andreais one small shift that you can take today to loosen this belief This is one, listening Considering, just listening. Listen to it again and again and again Um, what's the story in, is it 2 Samuel when Hannah wants a baby so bad, so bad, and she goes to the temple and she's crying her heart out and praying, crying her heart out. And Eli comes to her and he thinks that she's drunk at first. Yeah. And she's like, "No, no, no. I'm praying." And he validates her. Mm-hmm. Um, validates her want, validates her tears, and, and he's like, "Keep going," and he leaves. And when she's done praying, the, the verse says that her countenance has changed. Um, it's not that the situation is different. It's not that the marriage is redeemed. It's not that the, the baby is there. It's not that, um, it- it... But her countenance is different because she's unloaded it-
AnneMm
Andreain a safe place and been validated. Um, and so I pray that this conversation feels like, um, either an invitation to unload or it feels like an unloading for you today.
AnneSo glad we talked about this today
AndreaMm-hmm May you know the truth that you are one of a kind, beloved, chosen and irreplaceable
AnneAmen.
AndreaAmen
