System Change Made Simple
A phrase often used at climate actions is ‘system change not climate change’. This podcast explores that idea. What kind of system are we living with now? How do systems of exploitation come about? What options for a new system make sense? How could we make system change happen? Join me as I explore these questions. Get excited as we work out how we might make a fresh start. It could be a good idea to start with the first of these podcasts 'Capitalism: A Ghost Story' from July 4th 2022 and go on from there.
System Change Made Simple
Nate Hagens (Great Simplification and Sarah Wilson (Wild) on our 'Superorganism'. How it is leading us to collapse.
Nate and Sarah are popular podcasters in the de-growth space. In a series of four podcasts I am commenting on the issues that come up in an interview Sarah conducted with Nate in 2023. There is a great deal in these perspectives that anyone in de-growth might agree with. As I go along I acknowledge these points of consensus. But there are also issues where I disagree with the views they are explaining. A lot of the time, it is more that something that they say in the interview sparks a discussion of a particular topic that features in environmentalist writing. The four podcasts are 1. on complexity, evolutionary drivers and collapse. 2. Our superorganism - what I would call global capitalism! That is this one here. 3. The debt crisis and how it may (or may not in my view) lead to collapse in the near distant future and 4. What Nate and Sarah think is an appropriate response to the environmentalist milieu to the crisis as they see it. Hope you enjoy this one.
