Hello, and welcome back to another chapter of the Daring Author Podcast.
Speaker 1:Now, today I was thinking this morning this is what come up for me. So my morning routine if you're new here and I've talked about this a few times my morning routine is I get up at 10 to 5, I make a coffee and before I don't even look at my phone, before I even open my emails, see my messages, talk to anyone in the household, I am straight into picking up my computer and writing Before I can. There's just something in that for me. Before I even consciously talk to anyone or have different thoughts, if I were to, on the flip side, open my phone, first thing before I even get into writing I'll be thinking about the message that I've seen, the email I've got to get back to the person I've got to reply to, and all these thoughts already start jumbling in. And then if I were to write after that and get into my writing, then everything it just I would be distracted and I don't get in this flow state of writing. So my routine is grab my coffee, have a few sips of my coffee. Open my word sprint coffee. Have a few sips of my coffee. Open my word sprint. I make it in dark in terms of the light and dark effect that you can get, and I'm in a sprint room just by myself, just me in there, and then I just start literally writing and it takes me a little bit to warm up because I'm half asleep. Let's face it, in the the morning it takes a little bit for you to wake up. So it takes probably 10 minutes for me to fully like. I'm typing, I'm getting, I'm getting words out, but before I get into this state of you know when you're like writing and before you get into the actual scene, it takes a little bit of time. So once I'm in that flow state then it just comes out and I have, I get to write for probably about an hour before I shut the computer and then go off and go to the gym and go into my morning routine. But this morning what I was thinking is after I did my writing and I was writing a bonus scene for my upcoming release. I'm doing a bonus scene for at the end of the book for Late Magnet. It's a bonus scene for um. At the end of the book for late magnet. It's a bonus um sex scene. That um is part of the book, it sort of adds into one of the chapters and um that the readers can click on the link and sign up to the newsletter to receive the bonus scene. So that's what I was writing this morning and then after it, as I was walking to the gym, I was just having this moment of gratitude and just this inner knowing that this is what I'm here to do Now for me.
Speaker 1:Like sometimes we get in this hole, especially when it comes to writing, not only writing, running the whole business side and we just get caught up and we get caught up in this business. Got to do this, we should be doing this, we need to run this way, we need to write this because this is what's trending at the moment. We need to write to market. And sometimes we lose that actual love for writing and we get burnt out. We don't you know, we open the screen and we've got a million thoughts coming in like, oh, I should be writing this, I need to get back to this email, I need to write this email, I need to come up with this. Many social media posts Well, like just hearing that, isn't that like overwhelming there? Yeah, it's just a lot.
Speaker 1:And sometimes we get caught up in that rat race of doing all the things that then we forget the actual lot, like why did we start this business? Why did we start writing in the first place? Because we wanted a way to express ourselves. We wanted a way to express everything that happens inside of us and these characters that are talking to us. And we want to build these worlds, we want to connect through our words, we want to create these worlds. And then I just got in this state of like, how fucking amazing is it that us, as writers, can create these worlds not only these worlds these characters, these emotions, these feelings, like taking someone away from reality, as like a reader, when they read your book and you're taking them away from reality and they get so into your book, like you created that.
Speaker 1:Let's just sit in that for a second and acknowledge the fact that this amazing skill that you have like not everyone has this and I know sometimes we think that the market's oversaturated. There's so many writers, there's so many people writing books, but it's not. If you look at the world around you outside of the author world, if you put yourself outside of that and you look at your best friend, you look at your partner, you look at the people around you like, how many people in your world do you know that can do this and that are authors? I think we sometimes forget that this is a such a niche skill that you have that you've created, like you should be so proud of that. You have been given this skill for a reason. You have been given this skill for a reason. You have been given this purpose, this passion for writing, for creating these characters, for creating these worlds. Like, yeah, there is so much magic in that and I think we need to just stop and be grateful and to ourself for having this skill and having this ability to be able to do this, to be able to do this writing gig, like good on you. This is my like gratitude for myself to be able to do this and for you, like, just sit in that for a moment.
Speaker 1:And something I want to read to you is I've been getting back into Renee Rose's book Right to Riches and I always get this nudge when I have books on my bookshelf for writing craft mindset, all the things and this book called me that I need to read it again and I get in there and I highlight all the parts that really resonate with me and I really want to read something from this book for you. So if you haven't got it it, make sure you do go get it. It's by Renee Rose and it's right to riches, and she has come on our podcast before, so if you want to jump back to I'm not sure what episode number it is, but, um, we did do an episode together, so make sure you listen into that. She's, yeah, an amazing lady, so this is from that book. The truth is, everything you want is available to you. Yes, this includes money. The reason you don't have what you want is because you've been pushing it away. You know if and this is really like down to like you can have whatever you want if we sit in this gratitude and change our mindset about the way that we're doing things and what we are bringing in, if she mentions in here. Like you know, we tell ourselves stories like I'm not good as this author and I never will be.
Speaker 1:The release didn't go as well as the last one. Maybe readers don't like blah, blah, blah anymore. You know, or I know I've heard this a lot too. I've tried newsletter and it didn't work for me. I tried Facebook ads and they don't work for me. How about? Bookbub hates me and you know they'll never give me a deal.
Speaker 1:And I think the first step this is what renee says like the first step to noticing the first step is really starting to notice what your thoughts reveal. If you have the courage to listen to them. You know, anytime you feel anything other than light and fluffy about anything at all, lean in and ask what lie am I believing? Because our natural state, the state of infinite being self, is joy, expansion, abundance, gratitude. So if you're feeling anything less than you've brought you're, you've brought into a lie. Clearing the deck before you start creating is essential.
Speaker 1:Now, these words are from Right to Riches by Renee Rose, and that really sums up, in a way, what I was talking about this morning and this book that I am about to release in about three and a bit weeks.
Speaker 1:That three and a bit weeks, that's when I felt joy and gratitude and abundance and just feeling, since the moment I started writing that for the joy of it, and getting back into that flow of I'm loving this, like the whole process and the team that I've had around me that supported me, from my writing coach to my editors, to my beta team, to my arc readers and the arcs are going out today and I felt that joy and that's what I want for you.
Speaker 1:That is what I want you to feel every time that you write a book, every time that you're marketing, every time that you are putting out your book out into the world, and every time you're talking about it and feeling it.
Speaker 1:You know that joy, that gratitude, the abundance, all of it, like I want you to feel that and, if you want and those words are coming up like, oh, I'm not good enough, or whatever it might be we need to clear that path and my first step would be getting this book right to reaches. And she goes through like clearing clearing the deck and clearing like our mind is such a big player in this and once we clear that and our mindset and we are feeling like that abundance, the magic happens, like literally, what will happen from that and what you create and how you feel like every day. Don't you want to feel that? I know I do and that's what I'm working on, that's what I just want to feel, that all the time, because life is too short to be feeling anything else. But and I'm going to leave this episode at that and I hope these words really resonate with you and I hope that what you take from this and you know, if you do want to reach out and talk to me about it or anything like that, like, just message me, because this is where the magic happens and I want that for you.
