Speaker 1:

Hello and welcome back to another chapter of the Daring Author podcast. Now I thought what would be a really great episode today, as we are wrapping up the end of the year, is a meditation for reflection. Now, I've been thinking a lot on this lately and I've been seeing a lot of posts of like what people are achieving 2024 wrapped and it can bring up a lot of emotions for people and a lot of comparison and a lot of comparing to other people's releases and how many books were released this year and all of that. And what I really want to tap into is like how I felt this year, how writing has changed for me this year in terms of the frequency in which I write and I'm going to do an episode on actually looking at planning 2025 and the different approach that I am taking this year in terms of from future, from sorry past years where I have really gone on okay, setting big goals, and how many books I'm going to write and blah, blah, blah. I'm going to like flip that and do a whole new thing. So I will share and record that episode for you. But today I really want to look at the end of your reflection and just honoring yourself in what you have achieved this year and how you felt in terms of your writing and just really tapping into, like your gift your soul gift here on earth is to write and how you felt in terms of your writing and just really tapping into like your gift your soul gift here on earth is to write and how you do feel when you are writing. And just letting go of that comparison. And what I want to do is I want to bring you into a little meditation. So, first off, I want you to, if you can, close down your eyes, take a deep breath in and release, and again, deep breath in and release and release. Start to feel your feet on the ground or on your chair, let it connect to the earth, to the soil, all the way down to the rock, to the crystals, deep down in the earth. Just feel your feet, your bottom, really relaxing into your chair and into the earth.

Speaker 1:

I want you to look back to the year of 2024. More importantly, I want you to look back to the books that you have written this year. Might be one book, it might be two books, it might be more. Whatever it is, I want you to think back to one book in particular that you wrote and I want you to really tap into how it felt writing that book the early mornings, the late nights, the plot ideas that come through, the scenes that just made you feel like butterflies in your tummy or tingling all over or brought a smile to your face, or maybe even those emotional scenes that brought tears to your eyes, and just how much you loved writing that book, how much joy it brought you, how much happiness it brought you writing this book. Really think on that for a moment, take a few more deep breaths in and out. I want you to feel proud proud of writing a book, no matter how many books you've written in the past.

Speaker 1:

Let's go back to like how fucking amazing it is that you've written this book this year and you felt just so connected to these characters, these characters that have come from a simple thought in your mind to writing a whole story about them, really tapping into their emotions, building out their character arcs, going along this journey with them, like how much power you've created, how much power you've created for your readers that are reading these books and just taking them away from reality of life and stepping away and going into these worlds that you've created. You have created this whole world, this universe, these characters that people are deeply connecting with. Just honor yourself, put your hand on your heart. Just honour yourself, put your hand on your heart, take a deep breath in and say thank you out loud. Thank you for giving me this gift, this soul gift of writing, this soul gift being able to create these characters, these worlds. Thank yourself, thank the universe for putting these thoughts and creating this world, these stories. Only you can do that. Only you can create your unique stories. No one else, only you Sit with that.

Speaker 1:

How does that make you feel? Do you feel proud? Do you feel just this wash of emotions, this gratitude to yourself? Let whatever comes through, come through, and I want you to finish with a little prayer. You can listen to my words or repeat them out loud.

Speaker 1:

Thank you, universe, for giving me this sole gift of writing. Thank you for allowing me these stories, these ideas that spark in my mind and allowing me to recreate them on the page. Allowing me to create these characters, to recreate them on the page, allowing me to create these characters, allowing me to have this gift of writing these stories that change the world, change people's lives, change the perspective of things create an escapism for my readers. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Place your hand on your heart, take one final deep breath in and let go with a heavy sigh and, when you feel called, open back your eyes and just sit with this today, and you can come back to this time and time again when you're really feeling the call to reconnect reconnect with yourself, the universe, and just honoring yourself for this gift that you have, and just honouring yourself for this gift that you have, because we all, as writers, may have this gift, but you have a special gift to write the stories that only you can write.
