The Art of Devotion

The Daring Press

Take a breath right here, right now. Feel that pulse? That's life asking you to meet it in devotion.

Devotion has long been misunderstood as rigid discipline or perfectionism, but true devotion is simply a choice - it happens when you stop waiting to be ready. You devote yourself to life not because it's easy, but because it's yours. It's not about getting it right; it's about staying in the room and living the life you've already created.

My personal devotion practice revolves around three pillars that fuel everything else: expression through writing before serving others or checking emails; movement that comes from love rather than discipline; and embodiment work that regulates my nervous system so I can safely pursue my vision. When I fuel myself through these practices first, I step into serving others with infectious energy that's fully activated and alive.

Trust forms the bridge between fear and flow in this devotion journey. We trust because our soul remembers something our mind keeps forgetting - we were never meant to do this alone. The more we trust life, the more life trusts us back. This co-creative relationship opens doors that seem magical but are actually the natural result of devoted, inspired action.

The greatest lesson I've learned is to love life now, not when everything's perfect. We get caught waiting for healing, safety, or success before fully living, but this moment is the only real thing we have. When we embrace presence over perfection, everything changes. Today, I dare you to be devoted not to perfection but to presence, to trust not that you'll never fall but that you'll rise again, and to love your life not when it's fixed, but right now - this breath, this body, this moment. Because this is everything.

Speaker 1:

I want you to take a breath right here, right now. Do you feel that that pulse, that's life asking you to meet it in devotion? And that's exactly what we're going to be talking about today the art of loving life now, living in the moment. Now, I think for me, the word devotion was often linked to the word discipline, and you know that really masculine discipline, that we have to do it right, we have to go by the rules. It's quite rigid, it has to be perfect, but what I've come to realize and what I've come to learn and remember is true devotion. It's a choice. It happens when you stop waiting to be ready. You devote yourself to life, not because it's easy, but because it's yours. And this devotion, devotion isn't about getting it right. It's really about staying in the room, living life now, living the life that you have already created and being so devoted to it.

Speaker 1:

And for me, what devotion has looked like in the past couple of months, even further than that, even couple of years? The devotion to writing, the devotion to expressing myself, the devotion to writing my words before I serve others, before I get into my day, before I even open my phone or check my emails or get distracted. For me, it's moving my body, going to the gym every morning because it feels good. I don't go to the gym out of discipline. I go to the gym out of devotion, because I know how good it makes me feel. I know the energy that it brings to me. I know the energy that it serves me. When I go to the gym and move my body with so much love, it's not to lose weight, to get fit to all of these things. It's literally to fuel myself and fuel my energy and feel good doing it.

Speaker 1:

For me, everything in life has to feel good, Otherwise I don't see the point in doing it. I don't see the point in wasting my time here on earth, because we don't have long here, we don't have long to live and really I want to be doing everything that I love every single day. I want to be doing what makes me feel good, what I light up doing and for me expression is a big part of who I am, my identity, what I do, everything and it wouldn't be right if I was so in love with the expression was teaching it to others. It wouldn't be right for me to teach from just a knowing point of view. I have to experience it, I have to live it every day, I have to go through it, I have to go through the depths of it to be able to then teach others because I have experienced it. I have gone through the depths of expression from not just expressing the good times and the joy and the happiness, but expressing the anger, the pain, the guilt, all of those emotions, the sadness and the way that I use that to fuel my expression, to fuel my creativity. And that's devotion, me devoted to expressing myself, me devoting to moving myself, movement, which is a big part of my devotion.

Speaker 1:

And then embodiment is another part really embodying and regulating my nervous system. To be able to go towards the vision, to take these big steps in business, to put my books out there, to market my books, to put myself out there to express myself, I need to my body, I need to embody and know that it's I can trust and it's safe. And there's part of me that's I know that I want this and I desire it. I see the vision, but I need to also embody that and let my nervous system, let my body, know that it is safe. It is safe for us to take this leap, it is safe for us to go to the edge of the cliff and take that step, take that leap towards our vision and hold my own hand and just regulate that nervous system. And I do this through breathing techniques, I do this through meditation, I do this through really connecting with myself. So they're my three things that I am totally devoted to and that I make sure that I do every single day before I serve others, because that makes me. I have fueled myself in what I desire, in my expression, in my movement, in my embodiment. Once I have fueled those things, then I can step into serving others and I'm in this energy that is just on fire. I feel so good, like talking to you this morning. I have done my devotion practice, I have done what I desire and I'm feeling so inspired. I'm feeling my energy is just coming alive. I'm feeling so good and now I can use this to meet my clients there. I can step into their space and into my clients and serve energy that is just so infectious and I'm fully activated and I can activate my clients in that way.

Speaker 1:

And a big part of this devotion practice is trust and really that bridge between fear and flow. So trust is a big one Trust. I think you trust because your soul remembers something your mind keeps forgetting I think you were never meant to do this alone. And the more that you trust life, the more that life trusts you back, and that is like the flow. I think the more that we are in co-creation with the universe God, whatever you believe the more we are in co-creation with the universe God, whatever you believe the more we are in co-creation with this devotion, with living life now, with experiencing every little thing, the more we can co-create and the more that magic happens, the more doors that open because we are doing the work, the inspired action, the work that makes us feel good, and in turn we are given opportunities that just feel like they drop out of the sky. And then it's like, of course, of course, trust, practice, devotion, all of this links up, all of this is divine in that inspired action as well.

Speaker 1:

And I really believe just loving life now, just loving and experiencing it.

Speaker 1:

And I think we get in this thing where we're like, oh, when I've healed, when it's safe, when I've made it, but now, now is the only real thing. Living right now is the only real thing. Experiencing life, spending time with yourself, experiencing the little things, experiencing your kids, living with them now, not being on the phone and in this other world, just like experiencing things. And the more you do this, the more you fall in love with your life. The more you fall in love with yourself, the more that you can express and feel and go on this journey. That is life, it is the game of life. It is a fun journey, a challenging journey, but it is life. And when we look at it from this lens, everything changes. And to end this little transmission, I want to say today I really dare you to be devoted, not to perfection but to presence, to trust not that you'll never fall, but that you'll rise again, and to love your life, not when it's fixed, but right now, this breath, this body, this moment, because this, this is everything.
