And the gunnery break down for you. And two late to get up after stuff and go hunt for a statsquarter. Now, let's head over to the film squad screening room, where Patrick and Kendall are ready to discuss their latest film.
SPEAKER_03Hey ladies and gentlemen, welcome to another exciting episode of Film Squatch. I'm your host, Kendall Fontenow, and with me as always is my co-host, the Dashing, the Daring, and the Brave, Patrick Bennett. Patrick, how are you doing today? Awesome. How's it going? Going pretty good, man. We've got a real treat for everybody. This film was just released this April uh 2026, and it is The Yeti. And we're going to take a look at the trailer now.
SPEAKER_01Sorry. Did I wake you?
SPEAKER_04That's just it. We're officially declaring them missing. He's putting together a rescue team.
SPEAKER_01Anyone see the delay just there? My kind of calls can be blamed for all sorts of things. Monsters.
SPEAKER_05Nobody knows where we are.
SPEAKER_00Anyway now, it stands for the birth of Christ.
SPEAKER_03And wait for my well, that was the trailer for The Yeti. It's available on multiple streaming platforms for purchase or rental right now. And Patrick, you want to get us started off on this one? You want to give everybody a little uh insight as to what this movie's about?
SPEAKER_02Sure, Kendall. Uh, this is a film about an old tycoon in Texas who goes missing while uh on an expedition in Alaska. So his son puts together a team to go try to find his father, and when they get there, they encounter a Yeti. So that's that's pretty pretty much the gist of it. But uh it's shot, you know, here in the United States and Alaska, so it's it's not, you know, usually when we think of Yeti, we think of the Himalayas. So I was good, glad to see they made it in Alaska, you know. That was kind of different. So, but uh so Kendall, what did you think about the acting in this film?
SPEAKER_03Uh the acting was hit and miss. Uh, there were a few performances that I really enjoyed. Um, in particular, Britney Allen, she was the star of this film. Uh, for those of you who aren't familiar with her work, she was recently on I think it was three or four episodes of The Pit, the the latest season of the series The Pit. She plays a uh eternally ill woman, and I thought she was amazing in that. And when I saw that she was going to be in this film, uh I was excited. Uh, she was she's been in some other projects too, but I was really excited to see her because I really liked the job she did, and she didn't disappoint in this movie. Uh, I thought she did a great job. Also, William Sadler and Corbin Burnson, those are probably the two biggest names that folks would recognize. Um, I thought they did good playing Grizzled Old Men. They did a pretty good job. Uh, and the rest of the cast was good, it okay, except for the Tycoon. Eric Eric Nelson, who played Merrill Sunday Jr. Yeah. The Tycoon. It's I don't know if that was the kid live on the border of Texas like that, if that was his character or if he was just a bad actor.
SPEAKER_02I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, I mean, I I live on the border of Texas. I have Kenfolk in West Texas, and um I've never met a Texan act that acted like that. Now I've met plenty of people that acted like they were from Texas that acted like that. But yeah, he was the only one I didn't really care for. I mean, not I'm not knocking him because he might have just been following direction, right? But uh yeah, I didn't care for his performance in this film. Same here, same here. Um, how about you? How how was the acting for you?
SPEAKER_02I thought everybody uh was pretty good except for that one one character. I won't say character instead of actor, because I don't know if that was like, you know, like we were saying, if he that was the character's performance, how it was written. I don't know. But yeah, I thought everybody did a good job. Um I mean, I I wouldn't say it was uh super outstanding, like an A alias cast, but uh I think they did a job, did a good job. You want to talk about the uh cinematography, man? I thought it was incredible. Uh the scenery was uh fantastic looking to me. You know, I thought the lighting was great, the shots were all frame well, the shots were pretty good, uh, everything was well composed. Uh the filmmakers definitely knew that they would do it as far as shooting, you know.
SPEAKER_03As yeah, as far as the look goes, yeah, they nailed it. Um also I enjoyed the opening, the old-style adventure type movie intro that they had. Honestly, I wish they would have leaned into that a little bit more.
SPEAKER_02Me too, me too. Because to me, the trailer that promised that stuff pulled me in, and then it was like not like what I thought, you know.
SPEAKER_03No, not at all. Uh, the the trailer had me excited because it looked like it was gonna be really good, uh, like a high adventure fortune glory style thing, and it was anything but that. Sure, sure.
SPEAKER_02Say what about uh I thought the music was good. Uh I I enjoyed it. I thought it was very cinematic and uh it kind of stood out to me. So I thought I thought that was well done.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, the music was good. Um, I'll be honest with you, I didn't really pay a lot of attention to it. Um the music didn't necessarily grab me, uh, but it uh I was focused more on the story. I found it kind of hard to stay interested because this movie drags a lot. It does and uh the opening is awesome. The opening screams this is gonna be an uh an action horror movie, right? And then it just goes full stop. Yeah. So so did you have a favorite scene? Um, well, the opening scene is probably my favorite. Um but I also enjoyed the interaction between the the guy with half of his face missing, the hunter, yeah, and the the young woman whenever she gets attacked by the Yeti. I thought that was a really good scene because that's one of the few times in the film where I actually cared about the characters outside of the main actress. Uh you know, that that was a very well-done scene, uh, a real emotional scene. And I thought that was very well done. Um, but other than that, yeah, the the opening act, the opening scene was awesome. The blood in the gore. If you're a gore fan, you're gonna love the first 10 minutes of this movie. Patrick, how about you? What's your favorite scene?
SPEAKER_02Not really a scene, but just uh every time that the Yeti showed up, and we actually got to see it, you know. I like that, but I mean you get a lot of glimpses of it, you get a lot of uh he's like in the fog or he's silhouetted, or you see glimpses here and there, pieces of him. You don't you don't see the full Yeti, like the way I want to see him, you know. I want to see a good shot of his face, I want to see what the costume looked like, you know. I mean, they they did a good job with it, but I just want to see more of it. Does that make sense? Uh I just yeah, you know how I am. I I want to see the whole Bigfoot, you know. I want to see him right, not just his eye or his foot, or you know, I want to see all of them. But what it when they showed him in the uh fog or from silhouettes and stuff, dude, he looked massive and just incredible, you know. I really wanted a better look at that costume. Speaking of, that's a good segue. Let's talk about the costume.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, uh, according to I think it was Carbin Burnson's character that said the creature was 20 feet tall. Um I don't think he was quite 20 feet tall, but uh it is enormous. You get a decent look at him, yeah. You get a decent look at him toward the end of the film, the entire creature. You get a good look at it, and uh it looked like the suit was rigged with stilts maybe so to give him more height. Uh that's what I noticed.
SPEAKER_02It kind of reminded me of uh Walker. The Empire Strikes Back, kind of looked like a wall. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I thought it was good, it looked legit. It didn't look like a just a guy in a costume, be bothered around. It looked like an actual creature, you know.
SPEAKER_03I like that yeah, and it didn't look very ape-like in the face. No, no, no. It definitely looked kind of monster, yeah, yeah, like a generic monster face, I guess. I don't know.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I'll tell you what I like. Yeah, this it was it was good. I'll tell you what I liked about the movie more than the movie itself was the poster.
SPEAKER_03Oh, yeah. Dude, this this had the poster screens. What's the guy's name?
SPEAKER_02School adventure Drew Struzen. Is that his name? It it reminded me of his artwork, yeah. It kind of reminded me of his stuff. In fact, it looked like the poster he did for the thing, you know. It reminded me a lot of that.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, yeah, yeah. The the font that he used, and even I mean, just the way it's all presented.
SPEAKER_02Yeah, yeah, it was minimalistic. I like that the colors, yeah. Dude, I want this poster, I want it on my wall. I think it was an incredible poster. But sadly, and I'm gonna say that right now the poster is better than the film.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, uh, the the poster and the trailer are both deceiving. Uh, it looks like it should be an action-adventure type movie with a little horror thrown into it, and then when you actually see the movie, it starts off as like a pure horror film, and then it just kind of slows down. And as much gore as they have in this movie, I wish they would have had more. Uh and I'll be honest, I'm not gonna ruin the film, but I figured out the plot within the first few minutes of the movie. I knew exactly why the Yeti was doing what the Yeti was doing. Uh I had this movie pinned down automatically, and uh if it wasn't for some of the acting performances, I don't know if I could have made it through this one. It was it's it's kind of dull. It's a dull action horror, and that's hard to do to make an action horror movie that's dull. I mean it's either gonna have too much action or too much horror, usually, but just bland. It was bland the entire time. And uh, I found myself checking my watch. Um I picked up my phone a couple times. I was I was bored. I was bored on this movie during this movie. Now, but like you said, it was shot extremely well. Uh it was very atmospheric. Um it just didn't go anywhere. They there there wasn't enough going on. You know, um, and it stinks because it it really looks good.
SPEAKER_02Yeah. You know, we talked about the acting where for the most part it was good, but I felt like it was a little um over the top. I felt like uh the the close-up scenes and that, they were trying to give this Oscar clip, you know, that Oscar moment clip when they didn't need to do that. It's a Bigfoot movie, you don't need to go that much. It was almost too cinematic, you know. You I don't know if you thought that too, but yeah.
SPEAKER_03Well, it's it's like they tried to make you care about these characters when they're all just Yeti fodder. I mean, they're you know what's gonna happen to most of them. And uh I just kind of wanted them to get to the point, just get after it, start killing people, and uh have like a I wanted a decent chase scene, yeah, just something, some kind of action instead of okay, let's go hang out in the cabin. Okay, and let's just wait for it to die, for for it for us to die one by one, and then wait, I can fix the radio transmitter. You stand here, I'll go up there and fix the radio. Then he screams, run. And it's just I don't know. It was a very well-shot, bad film. I think that's the way I I would I would put it. The gore the the gore looked great, the creature looked really good, um, the acting was okay. It was just a dull story. And uh, and I hate that because I it really like like I said, the trailer promised so much more. And I'm trying to see here the writer, what other what other work it was Gene Galrano and Willem William Pesciata, I guess. I'm not familiar with either one of these people. No, uh but yeah, it's just I I was very disappointed because this movie looked really good. The the the trailer had me hooked, and it's not very often that I see a Bigfoot movie. It's like, oh wow, this is gonna be awesome. This one looked awesome, and it's not. No, I I had plans to make it. I'm trying to think, is there anything that we've missed?
SPEAKER_02I had plans to go to the movie theater to see it. It had a limited release, I think for two days in in the Texas area that at AMC's, you know. Well, it was playing nationwide at a lot of AMC's, but in Texas, I had a AMC I was going to, and I was going to take my girlfriend, and we had it planned, and then we didn't get to go. And now that I've seen it, I'm glad we didn't go see it at the theater.
SPEAKER_03But you know what? I think it probably would have been more enjoyable than a theater seeing that creature on a big screen. Um, I don't know if that would have been enough to save it. But yeah, um, I was highly disappointed by this one. Uh but I'm like you, I want to get my hands on that poster. And uh heck, if I meet any of the cast, I'd get them to sign it. Cause it's style-wise, this movie's got style bleeding all over the place. It just lacks story.
SPEAKER_02There was something that I couldn't pinpoint that I didn't like. I guess it was just the writing. I mean, the the story wasn't that good, and and the way they laid it out, it was kind of confusing at points of what was going on, you know, with the characters. I just think it was bad writing. That's that's what my field is.
SPEAKER_03Yeah. They definitely had money though, because everything production-wise, it looked amazing. It was it was awesome. Just yeah, it was just kind of dead in the water from the get-go. Um I kind of hope that there's a sequel for it, and the sequel is better. Because if if you get this this same production team, special effects, cinematography, art, um makeup, I mean, all that, you get those folks back and get a better story, they'll have a winner on their hands. That they've got every element except for the story. And maybe not make the main one of the main characters from Texas. Or get someone from Texas to play the character. So I think we've said enough on this one. I think we're both kind of disappointed in it.
SPEAKER_02And uh so what do you rate it, man? What's your rating?
SPEAKER_03All right. For our new listeners and for our old listeners, you will know that we rate our movies on a scale of one to ten Bigfoot tracks, with one being the worst Bigfoot film ever made, and ten being the greatest, which in my opinion is The Legend of Boggy Creek. And with that being said, I'm gonna give the Yeti five Bigfoot tracks because the cinematography is amazing. The special effects and the gore, the creature design, all amazing, all brilliant, all wonderful. The acting, most of it very, very good. But the story just kills the entire film. I almost felt cheated whenever I watched it. It because it was kind of like the I I coined this term, the Blair Witch effect. The Blair Witch trailer was brilliant. But when I actually saw the Blair Witch, I was like, this is crap with the Yeti. I was like, oh man, this is gonna be awesome with the trailer. And when I actually saw it, I was like, Man, that was boring, and it had so much potential, and it just shot itself in the foot with that that plot. Uh, Patrick, how about you? How do you rate uh the Yeti?
SPEAKER_02Yeah, I had a lot of problems with the film. Uh, I can sum it up with the um lyrics from an Elvis song. What was that? A little less conversation, a little more action. I think that's what it needed, you know. But um, but yeah, I feel like they were just gibber jabbering way too much, and uh so little was actually shown of what was going on. It just I don't know, like like you were saying, I was kind of bored with it. Uh but the whole thing with them assembling a super team, like this action team to go after them. They have what like a explosive expert, uh gun expert, uh uh uh uh tree case all this stuff. Yeah, and they put together a team to go kick ass, but no ass was kicked in this whole movie. I just felt let down because from the trailer, that's what really was drawing me into this film, and it just didn't happen. But uh but yeah, um yeah.
SPEAKER_03And it stinks, man, because it's such a beautifully shot film, yeah. It's just boring.
SPEAKER_02This one's boring. But dude, I'll tell you, we're on the same page. I put in my notes that uh I rated this a five. You know, I think it's just an average Bigfoot movie. It could have been a lot better if they had a better story. It probably would have been an eight or a nine, you know. But for what it is, I gave it a five. So but uh yeah, to me, to me, budget doesn't uh matter. What matters is uh what you do with what you have, you know. And uh they had a budget, so I don't understand, you know. I just don't understand. It looked to me like it was rushed, like first draft of a script, let's go with it, you know. They they should have uh got the script locked down better than what it was. But uh yeah, but you know, one other thing is don't foreshadow something in a movie. And then don't have it happen. And I can't really discuss what I'm talking about because it's so new, I don't want to spoil it. But there was something big that was foreshadowed that never they never touched on it again. But uh anyway, the the film it really let me down, and uh but I watched it twice because I wanted to see that yeti. That was a cool Yeti. That was a cool Yeti. Yeah, yeah. So uh but I wonder if this film was inspired by the true life events. There was a Texas oil tycoon that funded Bigfoot expeditions.
SPEAKER_03Yeah, oh man, man, what's his name? Um Jack Grimm.
SPEAKER_02I was talking about Jack Grimm. He funded expeditions all over the world, you know. But I wonder if that was anything to do with, you know, the inspiration.
SPEAKER_04I don't know.
SPEAKER_03Anyway. All right, Patrick, is there anything else we want to talk about? Maybe a better Bigfoot movie, something with a little more action, a little less talk.
SPEAKER_02Well, I don't know. This one has a lot of talk in it, but it does have a little bit of action and some gore, but it's a short film, so someday we'll do a feature and we'll have a lot more action. But anyway, yes, the the uh fan premiere of Ta Time O D, Film Squatch's first production, is gonna be shown on May the 1st on uh at 8 o'clock Central Time, 8 o'clock p.m. Central Time on our Facebook channel. So Facebook slash Film Squatch. Go there at 8 p.m. May 1st, Central Time, and you will see the fan cut or the fan premiere. And what we mean by fan premiere is we're not 100% finished with the entire production, but we don't want the fans to wait any longer. We're gonna go ahead and show them what we have. Now, this is a one-time showing, live Facebook premiere. One time, you either see it or you miss it. It's not gonna be any repeats, it's just a one-time showing. So spread the word, let your friends and family know about it, and we hope to uh see you on there because uh we're gonna be monitoring all the people making comments or liking it and everything. And I'll tell you now, I want us to give away a uh full-size film poster of Tata Modi. And the way that you can win it, it's gonna be a drawing, is you have to be watching the premiere and you have to comment where you're from, where you're watching it from, city and state, like Lake Charles, Louisiana, Beaumont, Texas, wherever, wherever you're watching it, we want to know where you're from. It could be another country, like Arkansas. We want to know you're there and where you're watching it from. And when it ends, we're gonna take all the names, we're gonna put them in a hat, draw a draw a uh winner, and we'll post it that evening. We'll post it after the premiere. So yeah, make sure you watch it. It's gonna be exciting.
SPEAKER_03I also want to say Boggy Creek Boutique in Falc, Arkansas is hosting a watch party at their store that night. That's awesome on May the 1st, 8. There, so uh you get out there and support if you're in the Falc area, Tex Arcana, any any of that area, and you want to go watch this in one of the coolest stores in the world. Yeah, go to the Boggy Creek Boutique in Falc and uh hang out with Jeff and Cindy. I guarantee they're gonna have a you're gonna have a blast with those two. They're two of the coolest people in the world.
SPEAKER_02They all take care of it.
SPEAKER_03So uh that's all I have to say, Patrick. And uh I think that's all we've got going on for now. Yeah. So uh if I ever decide to become a Texas oil baron and I lose my daddy in the cold north, what should I do?
SPEAKER_02Well, if that happens and you find yourself in that situation, you need to hire yourself a crack team of ass kickers who actually kick ass and head on up there and look for your daddy. But while you're out there in the snowy blizzard areas of Alaska in the the uh tundra area, you and you hear the ice cracking behind you, you better watch your back. Bigfoot's out there.
SPEAKER_00In the swamps of Louisiana, they whisper about something. A creature seen over 200 times. They call it Tatae Modi. Join us for the Facebook premiere of Film Squatch's new Bigfoot short film. Tatae Modi. Directed by Patrick Sean Bennett. Watch it if you dare to do it.
